| 3 | North Qinling Paleozoic granite associations and their variation in space and time: Implications for orogenic processes in the orogens of central China显示文摘Integrated zircon U-Pb dating and whole rock geochemical analyses have been carried out for two typical S-and I-type granitoids in the north Qinling. Zircon dating by SIMS of the Piaochi S-type grani- toids yields an emplacement age of 495±6 Ma. The granitoids show whole-rock εNd(t)=-8.2--8.8, zircon εHf(t)=-6―-39. The Huichizi I-type granitoids have emplacement ages of 421±27 Ma and 434±7 Ma es- tablished by LA-ICP-MS and SIMS methods, respectively. Their whole-rock εNd(t)=-0.9-0.9 and zircon εHf(t)=-11-8.4. Combined with statistical analyses of 28 zircon ages of granitoid plutons collected from the literature, Paleozoic magmatism in the north Qinling can be divided into three stages. The first-stage magmatism (~505-470 Ma) mainly occurred in the east part of the north Qinling and has features of an I-type arc, associated with which are S-type granitoids such as Piaochi pluton. The early granitoids (~505-490 Ma) have close spatio-temporal relations to ultra-high-pressure (UHP) rocks, and thus are interpreted as an oceanic subduction system along a continental margin. The second-stage magmatism (~450-422 Ma) occured through the whole north Qinling, and is characterized by I-type granitoids represented by the Huichizi pluton. The magma is interpreted as partial melting of lower crust mixed by mantle-derived magma in a collisional setting with the uplift of terranes. The third-stage magmatism (~415-400 Ma) is dominated by I-type granitoids and only took place in the middle part of the north Qinling, and is regarded as a late-stage collision. The spatial and temporal variations of the Qinling Paleozoic magmatism reveal protracted subduction/collision. The subduction was initiated from the east part of the north Qinling, earlier than that in the Qilian-northern Qaidam, Kunlun, and northern Dabie regions. It is significantly complementary for understanding the PAHs pollution in soil of integrated Beijing city on the basis of the information known in the outskirts. The total concentration of 16 EPA-PAH was from 0.467 to 5.470 ?滋g/g and was described by the contour map. Compound profiles presented that the 4-, 5- and 6-ring PAHs were major compositions. The correlation analysis showed that PAHs have the similar source in the most sampling sites and BaP might be considered as the indicator of PAHs. Characteristic ratios of anthracene (An)/(An+ phenanthrene (Phe)), fluoranthene (Flu)/(Flu+ pyrene (Pyr)) and benzo[a]pyrene (BaP)/benzo[g,h,i]perylene (BghiP) indicated that the PAHs pollutants probably mainly originated from the coal combustion and it was not negligible from vehicular emission. | 14 | Long-term changes in the fishery ecosystem structure of Laizhou Bay,China显示文摘Laizhou Bay provides a critical spawning and nursery habitat for many fishery species,including commercially important species,such as Fenneropenaeus chinensis and Larimichthys polyactis.The bay is severely stressed due to high fishing pressure and environmental changes.Based on the long-term ecosystem surveys in Laizhou Bay during the main spawning period(May) of most fishery species from 1959 to 2008,the responses of the Laizhou Bay fishery ecosystem were analyzed here,including regime shifts in species composition,biomass,species diversity,zooplankton,phytoplankton,and environmental variables.The dominant species of large-size and high economic value(e.g.Trichiurus haumela,L.polyactis) have been replaced by the short-lived,low-trophic-level planktivorous pelagic species(e.g.Setipinna taty,Engraulis japonicus) since the 1980s,and it is probable that the small-sized pelagic fishes have been recently replaced by invertebrates(e.g.Oratosquilla oratoria,Crangon affinis).The biomass of fishery resources declined continuously from 423.6 kg haul?1 h?1 in 1959 to 164.6 kg haul?1 h?1 in 1982,37.7 kg haul?1 h?1 in 1993,and less than 8 kg haul?1 h?1 in 1998-2008.Moreover,the biomass of zooplankton showed an increasing trend during 1959-2006,but showed a slight decline in 2008.The abundance of phytoplankton increased from 1959 through 1982,decreased substantially in 1993,and increased again until 2004.More recently,however,the phytoplankton abundance was very low.The sea surface temperature(SST) and sea bottom temperature(SBT) in May increased by 0.23°C a?1 and 0.16°C a?1,respectively,during 1982-2008.The salinity in May showed large fluctuations and reached its lowest values in 2004 and 2006.The ratio of dissolved inorganic nitrogen(DIN) to dissolved inorganic phosphate(DIP) increased.However,the dissolved silicon(DSi):DIP and DSi:DIN ratios decreased to a low level during 1959-2008.These changes seriously impacted primary production,and cascade effects then changed the structure and function of the fishery ecosystem.Further analysis indicated that multiple stresses caused the alterations in the structure of the Laizhou Bay fishery ecosystem.The top-down effect was identified as the main influence on the fishery species(at the top of the food chain) over the past five decades due to the increasing fishing pressure,whereas the bottom-up effect increased over the past three decades due to the strong variations in the environment. | JIN XianShi SHAN XiuJuan LI XianSen WANG Jun CUI Yi ZUO Tao | 2013 | Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,3: | 31 |

The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of dietary resveratrol supplementation during pregnancy and lactation on the antioxidant status of sows and piglets and on antioxidant gene expression and pathway in placenta.Methods: Forty sows were allotted to 2 dietary treatments 20 d after breeding. Sows were fed a control diet and a control diet with 300 mg/kg resveratrol. Oxidative stress biomarkers and antioxidant enzymes were measured in the placenta, milk, and plasma of sows and piglets. Antioxidant gene expression and protein expression of Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1-Nuclear factor E2-related factor 2(Keap1-Nrf2), nuclear factor kappa B-p65(NFκB-p65) and sirtuin1(Sirt1) were quantified in the placenta.Results: Dietary resveratrol increased the litter and piglets weaning weights. Antioxidant status in the milk, placenta and plasma of sows and piglets was partially improved by dietary resveratrol. In placenta, Nrf2 protein expression was increased and Keap1 protein expression was decreased by dietary resveratrol. The m RNA expression of antioxidant genes including catalase(CAT), glutathione peroxidase 1(GPX1), GPX4, superoxide dismutase 1(SOD1)and heme oxygenase 1(HO1), and phase 2 detoxification genes, including glutamate-cysteine ligase modifier(GCLM), microsomal glutathione S-transferase 1(MGST1) and UDP glucuronosyltransferase family 1 member A1(UGT1 A1), was increased by dietary resveratrol. Dietary resveratrol also increased Sirt1 and phosphorylated NFκB-p65 protein expression in the placenta. We failed to observe any influences of dietary resveratrol on pro-inflammatory cytokine levels, including those of interleukin 1β(IL-1β), IL-6, IL-8 and tumor necrosis factor α(TNF-α). However, we observed that the m RNA expression of IL-8 in placenta was reduced by maternal resveratrol. In addition, dietary resveratrol showed interactive effects with day of lactation on activities of SOD and CAT and levels of malonaldehyde(MDA) and hydrogen peroxide(H2 O2) in milk.Conclusions: Dietary resveratrol supplementation during pregnancy and lactation improves the antioxidant status of sows and piglets, which is beneficial to the reproductive performance of sows.
