1Spark-generated bubble collapse near or inside a circular aperture and the ensuing vortex ring and droplet formation显示文摘This paper aims to study the oscillation of a sparkgenerated submerged bubble located near or inside a circular aperture made in a flat plate using high-speed visualization technique. In the case of a bubble oscillating near an aperture the initial free surface of the water was set at the bottom surface of the plate. The efects of aperture size and bubblefree surface distance on the bubble behavior as well as on the ensuing droplet dynamics are investigated. It was found that the direction of the bubble reentrant jet was towards the aperture or away from it respectively when the normalized aperture size was smaller or greater than a certain critical value. In addition, a toroidal vortex ring was observed to form, which rotated inwards as it moved away from the aperture. It was also found that if the bubble was incepted at a distance sufciently away from a supercritical size aperture a single droplet could be produced. In the case of a bubble initiated in the middle of a circular aperture submerged just beneath the water free surface, the bubble was found to take the shape of an ellipsoid during its expansion. 9Analysis of channel bank erosion rate using exposed roots of trees: a case study of lavij stream, northern Alborz Mountains, Iran显示文摘Powerful alluvial rivers in the northern Alborz mountain ranges erode river banks due to having high slopes.Most of these rivers flow in forest areas.In this research,the rate of the river bank erosion was examined using the exposed roots of the trees.For this purpose,8 reaches of Lavij Stream were investigated.To determine the first year of root exposure,two sets of macroscopic and microscopic indicators were utilized.Accordingly,the rate of the stream bank erosion was estimated.The results were analyzed by using statistical test,which showed insignificant differences between the two groups of indicators.Due to its more abundance(frequency)on the margins and easy detection of its root through the exposure(macroscopic and microscopic)indicators,Alnus glutinosa(black alder)species could be more easily and accurately analyzed as compared with any other tree species in the region.The mean erosion rate of the riverbank using the extruded roots was estimated to be 0.08 m/yr.The hydrological analyses of flood flows showed that 95%of Lavij Stream bank erosion was caused by the river bank full discharges with a return period of 1-3 years.Mohammad Mehdi HOSSEINZADEH Saeedeh MATSH BEYRANVAND Reza ESMAILI 2020Journal of Mountain Science2020,17,5:0
10Numerical Simulation of Interaction Between Red Blood Cell with Surrounding Fluid in Poiseuille Flow显示文摘In this research,motion and deformation of a red blood cell(RBC)in a microchannel with stenosis is investigated by combined Lattice Boltzmann-Immersed Boundary method.The fluid flow occurs due to the pressure difference between the inlet and the outlet of the microchannel.The immersed boundary algorithm guaranteed that there is no relative velocity between the RBC and fluid.Therefore,mass transfer along the immersed border does not occur.It can be seen that the healthy RBC has more deformation and passes the stenosis easier while the sick one passes the stenosis with less deformation and returns to its initial state faster.Increasing the pressure gradient(i.e.,increasing Reynolds number)would cause more deformation of the RBC.It is found that a healthy RBC moves faster than a sick one along the microchannel.Blood pressure increases due to the presence of stenosis and low deformable RBCs.It is the reason of many serious diseases including cardiovascular diseases.The results of this paper were compared to the previous valid results and good agreements were observed.Reza Esmaily Nader Pourmahmoud Iraj Mirzaee 2018Advances in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics2018,10,1:0
