2Characterization and reactivity of biogenic manganese oxides for ciprofloxacin oxidation显示文摘Biogenic manganese oxides(BioMnOx) were synthesized by the oxidation of Mn(II) with Mnoxidizing bacteria Pseudomonas sp. G7 under different initial pH values and Mn(II) dosages, and were characterized by X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy. The crystal structure and Mn oxidation states of BioMnOx depended on the initial pH and Mn(II) dosages of the medium. The superoxide radical(O.-2) was observed in Mn-containing(III/IV) BioMnOxsuspensions by electron spin resonance measurements. BioMnOx(0.4)-7, with mixed valence of Mn(II/III/IV) and the strongest O.-2signals, was prepared in the initial pH 7 and Mn(II) dosage of 0.4 mmol/L condition, and exhibited the highest activity for ciprofloxacin degradation and no Mn(II) release. During the degradation of ciprofloxacin, the oxidation of the Mn(II) formed came from biotic and abiotic reactions in BioMnOx suspensions on the basis of the Mn(II) release and O.-2formation from different BioMnOx. The degradation process of ciprofloxacin was shown to involve the cleavage of the hexatomic ring having a secondary amine and carbon-carbon double bond connected to a carboxyl group, producing several compounds containing amine groups as well as small organic acids.Jinjun Tu Zhendong Yang Chun Hu Jiuhui Qu 2014Journal of Environmental Sciences2014,26,5:7
3Cognitive improvement following transvenous adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell transplantation in a rat model of traumatic brain injury显示文摘The effects of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell (ADMSC) transplantation for the repair of traumatic brain injury remain poorly understood. The present study observed neurological functional changes in a rat model of traumatic brain injury following ADMSC transplantation via the tail vein. Cell transplants were observed in injured cerebral cortex, and expression of brain-derived nerve growth factor was significantly increased in the injured hippocampus following transplantation. 6Photoelectrochemical degradation of Methylene Blue with β-PbO_2 electrodes driven by visible light irradiation显示文摘β-PbO2 electrodes were prepared by electro-deposition and characterized by scanning electron microscopy,X-ray diffraction,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,and linear sweep voltammetry.We confirmed pure β-PbO2 crystals were on the electrode and it had a high oxygen evolution potential.The photoactivity and photoelectrochemical(PEC) properties of the β-PbO2 electrode were investigated under visible light irradiation(λ > 420 nm) for the decolorization of Methylene Blue.Pseudo first-order kinetics parameter(Kapp) for dye decolorization using the β-PbO2 electrode achieved 6.71×10-4 min-1 under visible light irradiation,which indicated its excellent visible light-induced photoactivity.The Kapp of the PEC process was as much as 1.41×10-3 min-1 and was 1.71 times that of visible light irradiation or electrolysis even in the presence of the β-PbO2 electrode.A significant synergetic effect was observed in the PEC system.We also employed TiO2 modified β-PbO2 electrodes in this test,which revealed that the TiO2 immobilized on the β-PbO2 electrode inhibited the visible light-induced PEC efficiency despite the amount of TiO2 used for electrode preparation.The β-PbO2 electrode was also superior to the dimensionally stable anode(Ti/Ru0.3Ti0.7O2) in visible light-induced photoactivity and PEC efficiency.Guoting Li HoYin Yip Kin Hang Wong Chun Hu Jiuhui Qu Po Keung Wong 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,6:4
7Synthesis and Characterization of Fluorinated Polyurethane Containing Carborane in the Main Chain: Thermal, Mechanical and Chemical Resistance Properties显示文摘In this study, two fluorinated polyurethanes(FPU) containing carborane groups in the main chains were firstly designed and synthesized via the reaction of hexamethylene diisocyanate trimer(HDI trimer) with fluorinated polyesters(CFPETs) having hydroxyl-terminated carborane groups at room temperature. The structures of carborane fluorinated polyesters(CFPETs) and polyurethanes(CFPUs) were characterized by gel permeation chromatography(GPC), Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) measurements. The thermal stability, mechanical properties, Shore A hardness, solvent resistance and acid-alkali resistance of the carborane fluorinated polyurethane films were also studied. Thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) tests manifested that the introduction of carborane groups into the main chain of fluorinated polyurethane endowed the obtained fluorinated polyurethane with excellent thermal stability. The thermal decomposition temperature of carborane fluorinated polyurethane(CFPU) increased by 190 °C compared with that of the carborane-free fluorinated polyurethane(FPU). Even at 800 °C, CFPU showed the char yield of 66.5%, which was higher than that of FPU(34.3%). The carborane-containing fluorinated polyurethanes also showed excellent chemical resistance and prominent mechanical property even after the cured films being immersed into Jet aircraft oil or 37% HCl for 168 h or at high temperature(700 °C). It is found that the structural characteristics of carborane group and the compacted structure of CFPU effectively improve the thermal stability, mechanical property, solvent resistance and acid-alkali resistance of the carborane-free fluorinated polyurethane. 9Synthesis and Adsorption Properties of Polystyrene-supported Chelating Resins Containing Heterocyclic Functional Groups显示文摘A series of new chelating resins with incorporating heterocyclic functional groups: pyridine, thiadizole, benzothizole into macroporous chloromethylated polystyrene were synthesized via hydrophilic spacer arm of polyethylene glycol containing sulfur. 10Associations of Sarcopenia, Handgrip Strength and Calf Circumference with Cognitive Impairment among Chinese Older Adults显示文摘Objective To evaluate the associations of sarcopenia,handgrip strength and calf circumference with cognitive impairment among Chinese older adults.Methods Totally 2,525 older adults were recruited from the Healthy Aging and Biomarkers Cohort Study.Cognitive impairment was assessed by the Chinese Mini-Mental State Examination.Handgrip strength was calculated from the means of the right and left hand values.Calf circumference was measured at the site of maximum circumference of the non-dominant leg.The formula developed by Ishii was used to define sarcopenia.Multiple logistic regression was performed to evaluate the associations of sarcopenia,handgrip strength,and calf circumference with cognitive impairment.Results The prevalence of cognitive impairment was 34.36%.The adjusted odds ratio(OR)for cognitive impairment in individuals with sarcopenia was 2.55[95% confidence interval(95%CI):1.86-3.50].Compared with individuals in the first quartile(Q1)of calf circumference,the adjusted ORs in the second,third,and fourth quartiles(Q_(2),Q_(3),and Q_(4))were 0.75(95% CI:0.58-0.96),0.59(95% CI:0.44-0.79),and 0.62(95% CI:0.45-0.8),respectively.Compared with individuals in Q1 of handgrip strength,the adjusted ORs for Q_(2),Q_(3),and Q_(4) were 0.49(95%CI:0.38-0.62),0.31(95% CI:0.23-0.41),and 0.30(95%CI:0.21-0.44),respectively.Conclusion Sarcopenia,identified by low handgrip strength and low calf circumference,was positively associated with cognitive impairment.WU Bing LYU Yue Bin CAO Zhao Jin WEI Yuan SHI Wan Ying GAO Xiang ZHOU Jin Hui KRAUS Virginia Byers ZHAO Feng CHEN Xin LU Feng ZHANG Ming Yuan LIU Ying Chun TAN Qi Yue SONG Shi Xun QU Ying Li ZHENG Xu Lin SHEN Chong MAO Chen SHI Xiao Ming 2021Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2021,34,11:2

17Synthesis and Adsorption Properties of Chelating Resins Containing Sulfoxide and Heterocyclic Functional Groups显示文摘Several of new chelating resins containing sulfoxide and heterocyclic functional groups (3-aminopyridine and 2-mercaptobenzothiazole) based on macroporous chloromethylated polystyrene were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and infrared spectra. Their adsorption capacities towards Zn2+, Cu2+, Pb2+, Hg2+ and Ag+ at pH 3.0 and 6.0 were investigated in detail.
