1Ground-temperature controlling effects of duct-ventilated railway embankment in permafrost regions显示文摘Based on observed data from field-testing embankment of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, ground-temperature controlling effect of duct-ventilated embankment is studied in this paper.The results show that ventilation ducts can effectively cool the soils surrounding the ducts of the embankment, and the heat budget of the ambient soils in a year shows as heat release. Temperature status of the permafrost below the embankment with ducts buried in the relatively high position is similar to that of the common embankment. The permafrost processes warming all along in the two freezing-thawing cycles when the embankment was constructed. However, the temperature of the frozen soils below the embankment, in which the ducts buried in the relatively low position, rises a little in the initial stage. After that, it cools down gradually. At the same time,ventilation ducts can effectively reduce the thermal disturbance caused by the filled soils. The frozen soils below the common embankment and that with high-posited ducts absorb heat all along in the initial two cycles. While the soils below the embankment with low-posited ducts begin to release heat in the second cycle. This phenomenon proves that the ventilation embankment with low-posited ducts shows efficient temperature-controlling effect. 2The application of auto-temperature-controlled ventilation embankment in Qinghai-Tibet Railway显示文摘Auto-temperature-controlled ventilation embankment is an effective engineering measure for 'cooling roadbed'. Practice proves that this new method can sufficiently make use of natural cold energy. It has the advantages of higher efficiency, better cooling effect and feasibility in engineering practice, and wider application in various environment, etc. And also, it is comparatively cheap in project cost. Through practice in the field for half a year, the testing results show that, with the application of auto-temperature-controlled system, the artificial permafrost table has been raised by 65 cm. The artificial permafrost table was basically at the embankment bottom, and the action of freeze-thaw circle on engineering stability was effectively avoided. In the month with highest ground temperature, in the scope with 1-4 m in depth, including the majority of the embankment and the upper part in the original seasonal layer, the ground temperature decreased by 0.7℃. Through thermal flux calculation in the original seasonal layer, in the month with the maximum thermal flux coming into permafrost, it is found that the thermal flux reduces nearly by half. Coming into the cooling period for nearly a month, the ground temperature in entire auto-temperature-controlled embankment is close to zero, and the foundation is at negative temperature. 3Effective suppression of stimulated Raman scattering in half 10 kW tandem pumping fiber lasers using chirped and tilted fiber Bragg gratings显示文摘The average power of fiber lasers has been scaled deeply into the kW regime in the past years. However, stimulated Raman scattering(SRS) is still a major factor limiting further power scaling. Here, we have demonstrated for the first time, to the best of our knowledge, the suppression of SRS in a half 10 kW tandem pumping fiber amplifier using chirped and tilted fiber Bragg gratings(CTFBGs). With specially self-designed and manufactured CTFBGs inserted between the seed laser and the amplifier stage, a maximum SRS suppression ratio of >15 dB in spectrum is observed with no reduction in laser efficiency. With one CTFBG, the effective output power is improved to3.9 kW with a beam quality M2 factor of ~1.7 from <3.5 k W with an M2 factor of >2; with two CTFBGs, the effective laser power reaches 4.2 kW with an increasing ratio of 20% and an M2 factor of ~1.8, and further power improvement is limited by the power and performance of the 1018 nm pump sources. 4Clustering and switching during a semantic verbal fluency test contribute to differential diagnosis of cognitive impairment显示文摘The verbal fluency test (VFT) can be dissociated into 'clustering' (generating words within subcategories) and 'switching' (shifting between clusters), which may be valuable in differential diagnosis. In the current study, we investigated the validity of VFT in the differential diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (AD, n = 65), vascular dementia (VaD, n = 65), mild cognitive impairment (MCI, n = 92), and vascular cognitive impairment without dementia (VCIND, n = 76) relative to cognitively normal senior controls (NC, n = 374). We found that in the NC group, the total correct score was significantly correlated with age and education; males generated more subcategories; cluster size increased with education, and subcategory and switching decreased with age. A significantly progressive advantage was observed in VFT scores in the sequence NC > MCI/VCIND > AD/VaD, and this significantly discriminated dementia patients from the other groups. AD patients performed better in all four VFT scores than VaD patients. Subcategory and switching scores significantly distinguished AD from VaD patients (AD > VaD; mean difference, 0.50 for subcategory, P <0.05; 0.71 for switching, P <0.05). MCI patients scored higher than VCIND patients, but the difference did not reach statistical significance. 5Comprehensive Management of Daily Living Activities,behavioral and Psychological Symptoms,and Cognitive Function in Patients with Alzheimer's Disease:A Chinese Consensus on Alzheimer's Disease显示文摘Alzheimer's disease(AD)is the most common cognitive disorder in the elderly.Its main clinical manifestations are cognitive decline(C),behavioral and psychological symptoms(B),and a decline in the activities of daily living(A),also known as ABC symptoms.Early identification and evaluation of ABC symptoms are helpful for establishing the accurate diagnosis,comprehensive treatment,and prognosis of AD.To guide Chinese clinical practice for optimization of the comprehensive management of AD,in 2018,The Academy of Cognitive Disorder of China gathered 22 neurologists and gerontologists in China to build a consensus on the comprehensive management of AD.Based on a review of the evidence,the consensus summarizes the pathogenesis,pathological changes,clinical manifestations,evaluation,diagnosis,drug and non-drug treatment,and patient care for AD.Focus group discussion was used to establish a flowchart of comprehensive ABC management for AD patients.The new consensus provides a feasible AD management process for clinicians.Jianjun Jia Jun Xu Jun Liu Yongjun Wang Yanjiang Wang Yunpeng Cao Qihao Guo Qiuming Qu Cuibai Wei Wenshi Wei Junjian Zhang Enyan Yu 2021Neuroscience Bulletin2021,37,7:10
6Refreezing of cast-in-place piles under various engineering conditions显示文摘In the construction of the Qinghai-Tibet Power Transmission Line(QTPTL), cast-in-place piles(CIPPs) are widely applied in areas with unfavorable geological conditions. The thermal regime around piles in permafrost regions greatly affects the stability of the towers as well as the operation of the QTPTL. The casting of piles will markedly affect the thermal regime of the surrounding permafrost because of the casting temperature and the hydration heat of cement. Based on the typical geological and engineering conditions along the QTPTL, thermal disturbance of a CIPP to surrounding permafrost under different casting seasons, pile depths, and casting temperatures were simulated. The results show that the casting season(summer versus winter) can influence the refreezing process of CIPPs, within the first 6 m of pile depth. Sixty days after being cast, CIPPs greater than 6 m in depth can be frozen regardless of which season they were cast, and the foundation could be refrozen after a cold season. Comparing the refreezing characteristics of CIPPs cast in different seasons also showed that, without considering the ground surface conditions, warm seasons are more suitable for casting piles. With the increase of pile depth, the thermal effect of a CIPP on the surrounding soil mainly expands vertically, while the lateral heat disturbance changes little. Deeper, longer CIPPs have better stability. The casting temperature clearly affects the thermal disturbance, and the radius of the melting circle increases with rising casting temperature. 8Numerical analysis of applying special pavements to solve the frost heave diseases of high-speed railway roadbeds in seasonally frozen ground regions显示文摘The Haerbin-Dalian Passenger Dedicated Line is the first high-speed railway constructed in the seasonally frozen ground regions of northeastern China. Frost heave diseases occurred in the first winter of its operation(between October 2012 and January 2013), and frost heave was observed mainly in the roadbed fills that were considered not susceptible to frost heave. This paper proposes applying two special pavements — black pavement and insulation-black pavement — to improve the thermal regime of the roadbed. Three numerical models of the roadbed temperature field were built based on the field conditions of the Changchun section(D3K692+840 to D3K692+860). The results show that:(1) Compared with cement pavement, black pavement and insulation-black pavement could reduce the freezing index at the roadbed surface by 37% and 64%, respectively, which could influence the maximum frozen depth;(2) the maximum frozen depths under the black pavement and insulation-black pavement were respectively 1.3–1.4 m and 1 m. Compared with cement pavement, they could reduce the maximum frozen depth by 0.4 m and 0.7–0.8 m, respectively, which would reduce the permitted amount of frost heave by 4 mm and 7–8 mm, which would meet the deformation limit established by the Code for Design on Special Subgrade of Railway;(3) the freezing periods of the black pavement and the insulation-black pavement were, respectively, approximately four months and two months. Compared with cement pavement, they could reduce the freezing period by approximately 19 days and 40 days, respectively, and delay the initial freezing time by 9 days and 18 days; and(4) compared with cement pavement, black pavement and black-insulation pavement could reduce the frozen areas of roadbeds in the cold season, which suggests that these two special pavements could provide better thermal stability for roadbeds.Chang Yuan FuJun Niu QiHao Yu XinBin Wang Lei Guo YanHui You 2015Research in Cold and Arid Regions2015,7,4:5

10Neuropsychological features in post-stroke cognitive impairment with no dementia patients with different Traditional Chinese Medicine syndromes显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate neuropsychological features of post-stroke cognitive impairment with no dementia(PSCIND) patients with different Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) syndromes.METHODS: We recruited 50 patients with PSCIND between April 2012 and March 2013. Patients were divided into different groups according to TCM classifications. Patients were assessed using neuropsychological tests, including cognitive screening(mini-mental state examination), memory testing (auditory verbal learning test), executive/attention[shape trails test, stroop color-word test(SCWT),reading the mind in the eyes test, the digit ordering test-A(DOT-A), and symbol digit modalities test], language(action naming test, Boston naming test, famous face test, similarity test, and verbal fluency test), and visuospatial functioning [complex figure test(CFT)].RESULTS: We found no significant differences between patients with and without a diagnosis of turbid phlegm blocking the upper orifices on neuropsychological test performance. Patients diagnosed with upper hyperactivity of liver Yang syndrome scored significantly lower on the SCWT-C executive test and the CFT-delayed recall memory test. 11Superior performance and high service stability for Ge Te-based thermoelectric compounds显示文摘GeTe-based compounds have been intensively studied recently due to their superior thermoelectric performance,but their real applications are still limited so far due to the drastic volume variation that occurs during the rhombohedral–cubic phase transition,which may break the material or the material/electrode interface during service.Here,superior performance and high service stability for GeTe-based thermoelectric compounds are achieved by co-doping Mg and Sb into GeTe.The linear coefficient of thermal expansion before phase transition is greatly improved to match that after phase transition,yielding smooth volume variation around the phase transition temperature.Likewise,co-doping(Mg,Sb)in GeTe successfully tunes the carrier concentration to the optimal range and effectively suppresses the lattice thermal conductivity.A peak z T of 1.84 at 800 K and an average z T of 1.2 in 300–800 K have been achieved in Ge0.85Mg0.05Sb0.1Te.Finally,a Ni/Ti/Ge0.85Mg0.05Sb0.1Te thermoelectric uni-leg is fabricated and tested,showing quite good service stability even after 450 thermal cycles between 473 K and 800 K.This study will accelerate the application of GeTe-based compounds for power generation in the mid-temperature range.Tong Xing Qingfeng Song Pengfei Qiu Qihao Zhang Xugui Xia Jincheng Liao Ruiheng Liu Hui Huang Jiong Yang Shengqiang Bai Dudi Ren Xun Shi Lidong Chen 2019National Science Review2019,6,5:4

17A Novel MILP Model Based on the Topology of a Network Graph for Process Planning in an Intelligent Manufacturing System显示文摘Intelligent process planning(PP)is one of the most important components in an intelligent manufacturing system and acts as a bridge between product designing and practical manufacturing.PP is a nondeterministic polynomial-time(NP)-hard problem and,as existing mathematical models are not formulated in linear forms,they cannot be solved well to achieve exact solutions for PP problems.This paper proposes a novel mixed-integer linear programming(MILP)mathematical model by considering the network topology structure and the OR nodes that represent a type of OR logic inside the network.Precedence relationships between operations are discussed by raising three types of precedence relationship matrices.Furthermore,the proposed model can be programmed in commonly-used mathematical programming solvers,such as CPLEX,Gurobi,and so forth,to search for optimal solutions for most open problems.To verify the effectiveness and generality of the proposed model,five groups of numerical experiments are conducted on well-known benchmarks.The results show that the proposed model can solve PP problems effectively and can obtain better solutions than those obtained by the state-ofthe-art algorithms.Qihao Liu Xinyu Li Liang Gao 2021Engineering2021,7,6:2

19Problems and countermeasures in construction of transmission line projects in permafrost regions显示文摘Construction of power transmission lines is becoming an important part of permafrost engineering in China.This paper reviews the construction status and problems of transmission lines in different countries,as well as corresponding solutions that would be of practical significance for sustainable engineering practices.Russia has the longest history of transmission line construction in permafrost areas,with transmission lines(mainly 220 kV and 500 kV) spanning approximately 100,000 km.However,all countries suffer from permafrost-related tower foundation stability problems caused by freezing-thawing hazards such as frost heave and thaw settlement,frost lifting,and harmful cryogenic phenomena.As point-line transmission line constructions,the lines,poles and towers should be reasonably selected and installed with a comprehensive consideration of frozen soil characteristics to effectively reduce the occurrence of freezing-thawing disasters.Reinforced concrete pile foundations are widely used in the permafrost regions,and construction in winter is also a universal practice.Moreover,facilitating engineering measures like thermosyphons are an effective way to reduce freezing-thawing hazards and to maintain the stability of tower foundations.GuoShang Wang QiHao Yu YanHui You Ze Zhang Lei Guo ShiJun Wang Yong Yu 2014Research in Cold and Arid Regions2014,6,5:2
