| 1 | Multimodality treatment in hepatocellular carcinoma patients with tumor thrombi in portal vein显示文摘AIM To compare the therapeutic effect andsignificances of multimodality treatment forhepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with tumorthrombi in portal vein (PVTT).METHODS HCC patients (n = 147) with tumortrombi in the main portal vein or the first branchof portal vein were divided into four groups bythe several therapeutic methods. There wereconservative treatment group in 18 out ofpatients (group A); and hepatic artery ligation(HAL) and/or hepatic artery infusion (HAl)group in 18 patients (group B), in whompostoberative chemoembolization was doneperiodically; group of removal of HCC with PVTTin 79 (group C) and group of transcatheterhepatic arterial chemoembolization (TACE) orHAl and/or portal vein infusion (PVI) afteroperation in 32 (group D).RESULTS The median survival period was 12months in our series and the 1-, 3-, and 5-yearsurvival rates were 44.3%, 24.5% and 15.2%,respectively. The median survival times were 2,5, 12 and 16 months in group A, B, C and D,respectively. The 1-, 3- and 5-year survival rateswere 5.6%, 0% and 0% in group A; 22.2%,5.6% and 0% in group B; 53.9%, 26.9% and16.6% in group C; 79.3%, 38.9% and 26.8% ingroup D, respectively. | 2 | A novel gene delivery system targeting cells expressing VEGF receptors显示文摘Two ligand oligopeptides GV1 and GV2 were designed according to the putative binding region of VEGF to its receptors. GV1, GV2 and endosome releasing oligopeptide HA20 were conjugated with poly-L-lysine or protamine and the resulting conjugates could interact with DNA in a noncovalent bond to form a complex. Using pSV2-β-galactosidase as a reporter gene, it has been demonstrated that exogenous gene was transferred into bovine aortic arch-derived endothelial cells (ABAE) andhuman malignant melanoma cell lines (A375) in vitro. In vivo experiments, exogenous gene was transferred into tumor vascular endothelial cells and tumor cells of subcutaneously transplanted human colon cancer LOVO, human malignant melanoma A375 and human hepatoma graft in nude mice. This system could also target gene to intrahepatically transplanted human hepatoma injected via portal vein in nude mice. | 3 | Effectiveness of Different Waist Circumference Cut-off Values in Predicting Metabolic Syndrome Prevalence and Risk Factors in Adults in China显示文摘Objective To study the effectiveness of waist circumference cut-off values in predicting the prevalence of metabolic syndrome(MetS) and risk factors in adults in China. Methods A cross-sectional survey was condcuted in 14 provinces(autonomous region, municipality) in China. A total of 47 325 adults aged ≥20 years were selected by multistage stratified sampling, and questionnaire survey and physical and clinical examination were conducted among them. MetS was defined according to the International Diabetes Federation(IDF) criteria and modified IDF criteria.Results The age-standardized prevalence of MetS was 24.2%(22.1% in men and 25.8% in women) and 19.5%(22.1% in men and 18.0% in women) according to the IDF criteria and modified IDF criteria respectively. The age-standardized prevalence of pre-MetS was 8.1%(8.6% in men and 7.8% in women) according to the modified IDF criteria. The prevalence of MetS was higher in urban residents than rural residents and in northern China residents than in southern China residents. The prevalence of central obesity was about 30% in both men and women according to the ethnicity-specific cut-off values of waist circumference for central obesity(90 cm for men and 85 cm for women). Multivariate regression analysis revealed no significant difference in risk factors between the two MetS definitions. | 4 | Astragalus mongholicus ameliorates renal fibrosis by modulating HGF and TGF-β in rats with unilateral ureteral obstruction显示文摘Astragalus mongholicus(AM) derived from the dry root of Astragalus membranaceus Bge.var.mongolicus(Bge.) | 7 | Role of prophylactic hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy in patients with locally advanced gastric cancer显示文摘BACKGROUND Gastric cancer is the second most common malignant tumor in China,ranking third among all malignant tumor mortality rates.Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy(HIPEC)has been shown to increase significantly the effectiveness of intraperitoneal chemotherapeutic drugs,prolong the action time of these drugs on intraperitoneal tumor cells,and enhance their diffusion in tumor tissues.HIPEC may be one of the best choices for the eradication of residual cancer cells in the abdominal cavity.AIM The aim of this study was to study the role of preventive HIPEC after radical gastrectomy.METHODS A prospective analysis was performed with patients with c T4 N0-3 M0 gastric cancer to compare the effects of postoperative prophylactic HIPEC plus intravenous chemotherapy with those of routine adjuvant chemotherapy.Patients’medical records were analyzed,and differences in the peritoneal recurrence rate,diseasefree survival time,and total survival time between groups were examined.RESULTS The first site of tumor recurrence was the peritoneum in 11 cases in the conventional adjuvant chemotherapy group and in 2 cases in the HIPEC group(P=0.020).The 1-year and 3-year disease-free survival rates were 91.9%and 60.4%,respectively,in the conventional adjuvant chemotherapy group and 92.1%and 63.0%,respectively,in the HIPEC group.The 1-year and 3-year overall survival rates were 95.2%and 66.3%,respectively,in the conventional adjuvant chemotherapy group and 96.1%and 68.6%,respectively,in the HIPEC group.No significant difference in postoperative or chemotherapy complications was observed between groups.CONCLUSION In patients with c T4 N0-3 M0 gastric cancer,prophylactic HIPEC after radical tumor surgery is beneficial to reduce peritoneal tumor recurrence and prolong survival. | Tian-Yu Xie Di Wu Shuo Li Zhao-Yan Qiu Qi-Ying Song Da Guan Li-Peng Wang Xiong-Guang Li Feng Duan Xin-Xin Wang | 2020 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology2020,12,7: | 7 |

| 12 | Mechanism of plasticity enhancement of AZ31B magnesium alloy sheet by accumulative alternating back extrusion显示文摘Accumulative alternating back extrusion was a potential fine-grain modification method.In this paper,it was an innovative attempt to develop high-performance magnesium alloy sheet by this process.Under the condition of 350 K,commercial AZ31 magnesium alloy was made into billet by accumulative alternating back extrusion,and then extruded into fine-grain magnesium alloy sheet.Through a systematic study of its microstructure and mechanical properties,the results showed that the initial state had an important influence on the evolution of the structure during extrusion.After accumulative alternating back extrusion to produce the billet,the grain size of the sheet obtained by extrusion was significantly refined,which was related to the accumulation of deformation and grain refinement during the alternating loading process.Grain refinement caused the proportion of dynamic recrystallization inside the sheet with 2 cycles of accumulative alternating back extrusion to drop to 27%.With the increase of extrusion cycles from 2 to 4,the high density of dislocations led to an increase in the proportion of dynamic recrystallization and finer grains.The texture changed from strong basal texture to weak bimodal texture.The results of uniaxial tensile test show that due to grain refinement and texture change,the yield strength was significantly reduced,and the plasticity was significantly improved.It was verified that accumulative alternating back extrusion was meaningful for subsequent processing,and it also provided scientific guidance for the development of fine-grained magnesium alloy sheet. | Ye Wang Feng Li Nan Bian Hua Qiu Du Peng Da Huo | 2023 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2023,11,5: | 2 |

| 16 | Intranasal Immunization Using CTA1-DD as a Mucosal Adjuvant for an Inactivated Influenza Vaccine显示文摘Objective To evaluate the effect of intranasal immunization with CTA1-DD as mucosal adjuvant combined with H3N2 split vaccine. Methods Mice were immunized intranasally with PBS(negative control), or H3N2 split vaccine(3 μg/mouse) alone, or CTA1-DD(5 μg/mouse) alone, or H3N2 split vaccine(3 μg/mouse) plus CTA1-DD(5 μg/mouse). Positive control mice were immunized intramuscularly with H3N2 split vaccine(3 μg/mouse) and alum adjuvant. All the mice were immunized twice, two weeks apart. Then sera and mucosal lavages were collected. The specific HI titers, IgM, IgG, IgA, and IgG subtypes were examined by ELISA. IFN-γ and IL-4 were test by ELISpot. In addition, two weeks after the last immunization, surivival after H3N2 virus lethal challenge was measured. Results H3N2 split vaccine formulated with CTA1-DD could elicit higher Ig M, Ig G and hemagglutination inhibition titers in sera. Furthermore, using CTA1-DD as adjuvant significantly improved mucosal secretory Ig A titers in bronchoalveolar lavages and vaginal lavages. Meanwhile this mucosal adjuvant could enhance Th-1-type responses and induce protective hemagglutination inhibition titers. Notably, the addition of CTA1-DD to split vaccine provided 100% protection against lethal infection by the H3N2 virus.
