| 1 | The active principle region of Buyang Huanwu decoction induced differentiation of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells into neural-like cells Superior effects over original formula of Buyang Huanwu decoction显示文摘The present study induced in vitro-cultured passage 4 bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells to differentiate into neural-like cells with a mixture of alkaloid, polysaccharide, aglycone, glycoside, essential oils, and effective components of Buyang Huanwu decoction (active principle region of decoction for invigorating yang for recuperation). After 28 days, nestin and neuron-specific enolase were expressed in the cytoplasm. Reverse transcription-PCR and western blot analyses showed that nestin and neuron-specific enolase mRNA and protein expression was greater in the active principle region group compared with the original formula group. | 2 | Rice FLOURY ENDOSPERM22, encoding a pentatricopeptide repeat protein, is involved in both mitochondrial RNA splicing and editing and is crucial for endosperm development显示文摘Most of the reported P-type pentatricopeptide repeat(PPR) proteins play roles in organelle RNA stabilization and splicing. However, P-type PPRs involved in both RNA splicing and editing have rarely been reported, and their underlying mechanism remains largely unknown. Here, we report a rice floury endosperm22(flo22) mutant with delayed amyloplast development in endosperm cells. Map-based cloning and complementation tests demonstrated that FLO22 encodes a mitochondrion-localized P-type PPR protein.Mutation of FLO22 resulting in defective transsplicing of mitochondrial nad1 intron 1 and perhaps causing instability of mature transcripts affected assembly and activity of complex Ⅰ, and mitochondrial morphology and function. RNA-seq analysis showed that expression levels of many genes involved in starch and sucrose metabolism were significantly down-regulated in the flo22mutant compared with the wild type, whereas genes related to oxidative phosphorylation and the tricarboxylic acid cycle were significantly upregulated. In addition to involvement in splicing as a P-type PPR protein, we found that FLO22 interacted with DYW3, a DYW-type PPR protein, and they may function synergistically in mitochondrial RNA editing. | 5 | Solution-phase synthesis of ordered mesoporous carbon as resonant-gravimetric sensing material for room-temperature H2S detection显示文摘H2S can cause multiple diseases and poses a great threat to human health.However,the precise detection of extremely toxic H2S at room temperature is still a great challenge.Here,a facile solvent evaporation induced aggregating assembly(EIAA)method has been applied for the production of ordered mesoporous carbon(OMCs)in an acidic THF/H2 O solution with high-molecular-weight poly(ethylene oxide)-b-polystyrene(PEO-b-PS)copolymers as the structure-directing agent,formaldehyde and resorcinol as carbon precursors.Along with the continuous evaporation of THF from the mixed solution,cylindrical micelles are formed in the solution and further assemble into highly ordered mesostructure.The obtained OMCs possesses a two-dimensional(2 D)hexagonal mesostructure with uniform and large pore diameter(~19.2 nm),high surface area(599 m2/g),and large pore volume(0.92 cm3/g).When being used as the resonant cantilever gas sensor for room-temperature H2S detection,the OMCs has delivered not only a superior gas sensing performance with ultrafast re s ponse(14 s)and recovery(21 s)even at low concentration(2 ppm)but also an excellent selectivity toward H2S among various common interfering gases.Moreover,the limit of detection is better than 0.2 ppm,indicating its potential application in environmental monitoring and health protection. | Jiawei Ni Tao Zhao Lei Tang Pengpeng Qiu Wan Jiang Lianjun Wang Pengcheng Xu Wei Luo | 2020 | Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,6: | 1 |
| 6 | Eff ects of oxytetracycline dihydrate and sulfamethoxazole on Microcystis aeruginosa and Chlamydomonas microsphaera显示文摘The increasing use of pharmaceuticals has become a major environmental issue in China.The presence of antibiotics in water may have deleterious eff ects on non-target aquatic organisms such as microalgae.In this study,a cyanobacterium and an alga species in surface waters,Microcystis aeruginosa and Chlamydomonas microsphaera,were exposed to 0,0.1,0.5,1.0,2.0,5.0,10.0,and 20.0 mg/L of oxytetracycline dihydrate(OXY)and sulfamethoxazole(SMZ)for 96 h to determine the eff ects of these antibiotics on the growth and surface morphology.Moreover,the photosynthetic activity and the contents of superoxide dismutase(SOD),malondialdehyde(MDA),and protein were measured to examine the biochemical characteristics of M.aeruginosa and C.microsphaera under OXY and SMZ stress.The eff ects of both antibiotics on the growth of both species were concentration-dependent and characterized by low-dose stimulation and high-dose inhibition.C.microsphaera was more sensitive to both antibiotics than M.aeruginosa was.The algal cell membranes of both species disintegrated after exposure to a high concentration of OXY.All of the physiological parameters measured in this study were relatively stable at low concentrations of OXY and SMZ.After exposure to high concentrations of OXY and SMZ,photosynthetic activity decreased signifi cantly,whereas lipid peroxidation and the abundance of SOD,MDA,and protein increased signifi cantly.Thus,low-dose antibiotics may increase algal blooms in eutrophic waters. | Xudong ZHOU Xincheng JIANG Shan GAO Zhenjia WAN Pengcheng GAO | 2021 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2021,39,1: | 1 |
| 7 | Performance analysis of full-duplex densely distributed MIMO with wireless backhaul显示文摘In this paper,the spectral efficiency of a full-duplex(FD)densely distributed multi-input multioutput(MIMO)system with wireless backhaul is considered.In-band full-duplex(IBFD)backhauling,in which the backhaul and access transmissions take place on the same spectrum,is exploited for wireless backhauling to enable an efficient spectrum reuse.However,the severe cross-tier interference and crosslink interference reduce the gains of IBFD backhauling.To evaluate the achievable spectral efficiency with imperfect channel state information(CSI),we propose a two-phase channel estimation scheme to estimate the CSI for two wireless links,and the scheme estimates an effective interference CSI between access points(APs)based on beamforming training to perform interference cancelation at APs.Given the estimated CSI,the closed-form expressions of the uplink and downlink achievable rates with maximum ratio transmission beamforming and maximum ratio combining receivers,respectively,are derived with Gamma approximation.Numerical results verify the accuracy of the derived closed-form expressions and the effectiveness of the twophase channel estimation scheme for interference cancelation.Moreover,compared with half-duplex densely distributed MIMO systems,FD systems with interference cancelation have a better performance. | Ziqian WAN Qijun PAN Jiamin LI Pengcheng ZHU Dongming WANG | 2023 | Science China(Information Sciences)2023,66,6: | 1 |
| 8 | Antioxidant procyanidin B2 protects oocytes against cryoinjuries via mitochondria regulated cortical tension显示文摘Background:Irreversible cryodamage caused by oocyte vitrification limited its wild application in female fertility preservation.Antioxidants were always used to antagonist the oxidative stress caused by vitrification.However,the comprehensive mechanism underlying the protective role of antioxidants has not been studied.Procyanidin B2(PCB2)is a potent natural antioxidant and its functions in response to vitrification are still unknown.In this study,the effects of PCB2 on vitrified-thawed oocytes and subsequent embryo development were explored,and the mechanisms underlying the protective role of PCB2 were systematically elucidated.Results:Vitrification induced a marked decline in oocyte quality,while PCB2 could improve oocyte viability and further development after parthenogenetic activation.A subsequent study indicated that PCB2 effectively attenuated vitrification-induced oxidative stress,rescued mitochondrial dysfunction,and improved cell viability.Moreover,PCB2 also acts as a cortical tension regulator apart from strong antioxidant properties.Increased cortical tension caused by PCB2 would maintain normal spindle morphology and promote migration,ensure correct meiosis progression and finally reduce the aneuploidy rate in vitrified oocytes.Further study reveals that ATP biosynthesis plays a crucial role in cortical tension regulation,and PCB2 effectively increased the cortical tension through the electron transfer chain pathway.Additionally,PCB2 would elevate the cortical tension in embryo cells at morula and blastocyst stages and further improve blastocyst quality.What's more,targeted metabolomics shows that PCB2 has a beneficial effect on blastocyst formation by mediating saccharides and amino acids metabolism.Conclusions:Antioxidant PCB2 exhibits multi-protective roles in response to vitrification stimuli through mitochondria-mediated cortical tension regulation. | Qingrui Zhuan Jun Li Xingzhu Du Luyao Zhang Lin Meng Yuwen Luo Dan Zhou Hongyu Liu Pengcheng Wan Yunpeng Hou Xiangwei Fu | 2023 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2023,14,1: | 0 |
