| 1 | Performance analysis of deep learning CNN models for disease detection in plants using image segmentation显示文摘Food security for the 7 billion people on earth requires minimizing crop damage by timely detectionofdiseases. Most deep learningmodels forautomated detectionof diseases in plants suffer fromthe fatal flaw that once tested on independent data, their performance drops significantly. This work investigates a potential solution to this problem by using segmented image data to train the convolutional neural network(CNN)models. As compared to the F-CNN model trained using full images,S-CNN model trained using segmented imagesmore than doubles in performance to 98.6%accuracy when tested on independent data previously unseen by the models even with 10 disease classes. Not only this,by using tomato plant and target spot disease type as an example,we show that the confidence of self-classification for S-CNN model improves significantly over F-CNN model. This research work brings applicability of automated methods closer to non-experts for timely detection of diseases. | Parul Sharma Yash Paul Singh Berwal Wiqas Ghai | 2020 | Information Processing in Agriculture2020,7,4: | 5 |
| 2 | Aerobic bacterial flora of the normal conjunctiva at high altitude area of Shimla Hills in India:a hospital based study显示文摘AIM:To study the normal aerobic conjunctival flora in lower to mid Himalayan region of Shimla Hills.METHODS:Samples from normal conjunctiva of 200 individuals above the age of 13 years who visited Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital Shimla for refraction or cataract surgery were taken by anaesthetising the conjunctival sac with sterile 4% Xylocaine solution.Samples were obtained by gently rubbing lower fornix with a sterile cotton wool swab moistened with normal saline and keeping the eye lids wide apart to avoid contamination from lid margins. It was immediately inoculated in Brain Heart infusion and subjected to standard aerobic culture and identification techniques.RESULTS:Totally,72 eyes(36%) conjunctival sacs were sterile.Predominant aerobes isolated were Staphylococcus spp.in 120(60%) followed by Haemophilus in 16(8%),diphtheroids in 10(5%),and Escherichia coli(E.coli) in 4(2%).A single aerobe was isolated from 98 eyes(49%) while 30 eyes(15%) yielded more than 1 aerobe.Staphylococcus epidermidis(S.epidermidis) was the most common bacterium, found alone in 58 eyes(29%) and in combination with another aerobe in 30 eyes(15%),followed by Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus) in 18(9%) and 10 eyes(5%) respectively.CONCLUSION:S.epidermidis is the most common commensal organism followed by Haemophilus species.diphtheroids occupied the third position which otherwise are found more abundantly in literature.Pathogens like S.aureus,Staphylococcus citreus and E.coli were also found. Therefore, preoperative administration of topical broad spectrum antibiotics is extremely important in prophylaxis against ocular infection. The variation in microflora of normal conjunctiva in this part of world can be attributed to geographical, climatic and ethnic characteristics of the population under study. | Sharma Parmeshri Dass Sharma Neelam Gupta Ravinder Kumar Singh Parul | 2013 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2013,6,5: | 4 |

| 4 | Primary tuberculosis of the thyroid gland:a case report显示文摘Tuberculosis of the thyroid gland is an uncommon disease and primary involvement of Uiyroid is even more rare.It is a rare disease even in countries in which tuberculosis is endemic. The diagnosis is often difficult as the clinical presentation has no distinct characteristics.Clinical course of the disease may resemble toxic goiter or acute thyroiditis or may follow a subacute or chronic growth pattern without specific symptomatology.Histologically presence of necrotizing epithelioid cell granulomas along with langhans type giant cells are the hallmark of thyroid tuberculosis.Demonstration of acid fast bacilli by ZN staining confirms the diagnosis, but this stain is frequently negative in tissue sections. | Sant Parkash Kataria Parul Tanwar Sneh Singh Sanjay Kumar | 2012 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2012,2,10: | 2 |
| 5 | Thermal stability and hydration behavior of ritonavir sulfate:A vibrational spectroscopic approach显示文摘Ritonavir sulfate is a protease inhibitor widely used in the treatment of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. In order to elucidate the inherent stability and sensitivity characteristics of ritonavir sulfate, it was investigated under forced thermal and hydration stress conditions as recommended by the International Conference on Harmonization guidelines. In addition, competency of vibrational(infrared and Raman) spectroscopy was assessed to identify structural changes of the drug symbolizing its stress degradation. High performance liquid chromatography was used as a confirmatory technique for both thermal and hydration stress study, while thermogravimetric analysis/differential thermal analysis and atomic force microscopy substantiated the implementation of vibrational spectroscopy in this framework. The results exhibited high thermal stability of the drug as significant variations were observed in the diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectra only after the drug exposure to thermal radiations at 100 °C. Hydration behavior of ritonavir sulfate was evaluated using Raman spectroscopy and the value of critical relative humidity was found to be 4 67%. An important aspect of this study was to utilize vibrational spectroscopic technique to address stability issues of pharmacological molecules, not only for their processing in pharmaceutical industry, but also for predicting their shelf lives and suitable storage conditions. | Kaweri Gambhir Parul Singh Deepak K.Jangir Ranjana Mehrotra | 2015 | Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2015,5,6: | 1 |
