3Orbital apex syndrome secondary to myocysticercosis: a rare case report显示文摘Dear Editor,We present a rare case report of orbital apex syndrome secondary to myocysticercosis.Human cysticercosis is caused by larval form(Cysticercus cellulosae)of Taenia solium. The cysts of Cysticercus cellulosae can lodge in the centralnervoussystem, muscles, subcutaneoustissue,or eye, resulting in varied clinical manifestations[1].This case highlights an unusual presentation of orbital apex syndrome secondary to cysticercosis of medial rectus.Shweta Dhiman Kamlesh AnAND Anju Rastogi Paromita Dutta Parul Jain Manisha Mishra Vaibhav Nagpal 2020International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2020,13,6:0
4Co-positivity of anti-dengue virus and anti-Japanese encephalitis virus IgM in endemic area:co-infection or cross reactivity?显示文摘Objective:To report high co-positivity of anti-dengue virus(DV)and anti-Japanese encephalitis virus(JEV)IgM in an area endemic for both the viruses and to discuss the possibilities of coinfection. Methods:Serum samples from the patients who presented with fever, suspected central nervous system infection and thrombocytopenia, were tested for anti-DV IgM and antiJEV IgM antibodies.Conventional reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction was done for detection of DV RNA and JEV RNA.Results:Of 1 410 patient sera tested for anti-DV and antiJEV antibodies,129(9.14%)were co-positive for both. This co-positivity was observed only in those months when anli-JEV IgM positivily was high.Tilers of both anli-DV IgM and anti-JEV IgM were high in most of the co-positive eases.Among these 129 co-positive cases,76 were lesled by conventional reverse Iranscriplase polymerase chain reaction for both flaviviruses,of which eight cases were co-positive for DV and JEV.Conclusions:Co-infection with more than one fluvivirus species can occur in hyperendemic areas.Kaleshwar Prasad Singh Gitika Mishra Parul Jain Nidhi Pandey Rachna Nagar Shikha Gupta Shantanu Prakash Om Prakash Danish Nasar Khan Sakshi Shrivastav Desh Deepak Singh Amita Jain 2014Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2014,7,2:0
5An update on Ayurvedic herb Convolvulus pluricaulis Choisy显示文摘Convolvulus pluricaulis Choisy(C.pluricaulis)is a perennial herb that seems like morning glory. All parts of the herb are known to possess therapeutic benefits. The plant is used locally in Indian and Chinese medicine to cure various diseases. It is used in Ayurvedic formulation for chronic cough, sleeplessness, epilepsy, hallucinations, anxiety etc.Based on the comprehensive review of plant profile, pharmacognosy, phylochemistry, pharmacological and toxicological data on the C.pluricaulis, there will be more opportunities for the future research and development on the herb C.pluricaulis.Information on the C.pluricaulis was collected via electronic search(using Pub Med,SciFinder,Google Scholar and Web of Science)and library search for articles published in peer-reviewed journals.Furthermore, information also was obtained from some local books on ethnopharmacology. This paper covers the literature, primarily pharmacological, from 1985 to the end of 2012.The C.pluricaulis is an important indigenous medicine, which has a long medicinal application for liver disease, epileptic disease, microbial disease, cytotoxic and viral diseases, central nervous system(CNS)disease in Ayurvedic medicine, traditional Chinese medicine and other indigenous medical systems. The isolated metabolites and crude extract have exhibited a wide of in vitro and in vivo pharmacological effect, including CNS depression, anxiolytic, tranquillizing, antidepressant, antistress, neurodegenerative, antiamnesic, antioxidant, hypolipidemic, immunomodulatory, analgesic, antifungal, antibacterial, antidiabetic, antiulcer, anticatatonic, and cardiovascular activity.A chemical study of this plant was then initiated, which led to the isolation of carbohydrats, proteins, alkaloids, fatty acids, steroids, coumarins.flavanoids, and glycosides as active chemicals that bring about its biological effects.A scries of pharmacognostical studies of this plant show that it is a herb, its stem and leaves are hairy, more over it has two types of stomata, anisocytic and paracytic.A herb,C.pluricaulis has emerged as a good source of the traditional medicine for the treatment of liver disease, epileptic disease, microbial disease, cytotoxic and viral diseases, and CNS disease.Pharmacological results have validated the use of this species in traditional medicine. All the parts of the herb are known to possess therapeutic benefits.Expansion of research materials would provide more opportunities for the discovery of new bioactive principles from C.pluricaulis.Parul Agarwa Bhawna Sharma Anireen Fatima Sanjay Kumar Jain 2014Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2014,4,3:0
