1Autofluorescence imaging and magnification endoscopy显示文摘It is well known that angiogenesis is critical in the transition from premalignant to malignant lesions.Consequently,early detection and diagnosis based on morphological changes to the microvessels are crucial.In the last few years,new imaging techniques which utilize the properties of light-tissue interaction have been developed to increase early diagnosis of gastrointestinal(GI) tract neoplasia.We analyzed several 'red-flag' endoscopic techniques used to enhance visualization of the vascular pattern of preneoplastic and neoplastic lesions(e.g.trimodal imaging including autofluorescence imaging,magnifying endoscopy and narrow band imaging).These new endoscopic techniques provide better visualization of mucosal microsurface structure and microvascular architecture and may enhance the diagnosis and characterization of mucosal lesions in the GI tract.In the near future,it is expected that trimodal imaging endoscopy will be practiced as a standard endoscopy technique as it is quick,safe and accurate for making a precise diagnosis of gastrointestinal pathology,with an emphasis on the diagnosis of early GI tract cancers.Further large-scale randomized controlled trials comparing these modalities in different patient subpopulations are warranted before their endorsement in the routine practice of GI endoscopy.Monalisa Filip Sevastita Iordache Adrian Sǎftoiu Tudorel Ciurea 2011World Journal of Gastroenterology2011,17,1:5

3Local binary pattern-based reversible data hiding显示文摘A novel local binary pattern-based reversible data hiding(LBP-RDH)technique has been suggested to maintain a fair symmetry between the perceptual transparency and hiding capacity.During embedding,the image is divided into various 3×3 blocks.Then,using the LBP-based image descriptor,the LBP codes for each block are computed.Next,the obtained LBP codes are XORed with the embedding bits and are concealed in the respective blocks using the proposed pixel readjustment process.Further,each cover image(CI)pixel produces two different stego-image pixels.Likewise,during extraction,the CI pixels are restored without the loss of a single bit of information.The outcome of the proposed technique with respect to perceptual transparency measures,such as peak signal-to-noise ratio and structural similarity index,is found to be superior to that of some of the recent and state-of-the-art techniques.In addition,the proposed technique has shown excellent resilience to various stego-attacks,such as pixel difference histogram as well as regular and singular analysis.Besides,the out-off boundary pixel problem,which endures in most of the contemporary data hiding techniques,has been successfully addressed.Monalisa Sahu Neelamadhab Padhy Sasanko Sekhar Gantayat Aditya Kumar Sahu 2022CAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology2022,7,4:1

5Prospects and advancements in C-reactive protein detection显示文摘C-reactive protein(CRP) is one of the earliest proteins that appear in the blood circulation in most systemic inflammatory conditions and this is the reason for its significance,even after identification of many organ specific inflammatory markers which appear relatively late during the course of disease.Earlier methods of CRP detection were based on the classical methods of antigen-antibody interaction through precipitation and agglutination reactions.Later on,CRP based enzymatic assays came into the picture which were further modified by integration of an antigen-antibody detection system with surface plasma spectroscopy.Then came the time for the development of electrochemical biosensors where nanomaterials were used to make a highly sensitive and portable detection system based on silicon nanowire,metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor/bipolar junction transistor,ZnS nanoparticle,aptamer,field emission transmitter,vertical flow immunoassay etc.This editorial attempts to summarize developments in the field of CRP detection,with a special emphasis on biosensor technology.This would help in translating the latest development in CRP detection in the clinical diagnosis of inflammatory conditions at an early onset of the diseases.Pranjal Chandra Pankaj Suman Himangi Airon Monalisa Mukherjee Prabhanshu Kumar 2014World Journal of Methodology2014,4,1:1

8Diagnostic role of Xpert-MTB RIF assay in osteoarticular tuberculosis:A retrospective study显示文摘BACKGROUND Osteoarticular tuberculosis(OATB) is a severe form of extrapulmonary TB, which causes notable morbidity and warrants a high index of suspicion for prompt management. The diagnosis of OATB poses a challenge, because of the difficulty of collecting the samples and, secondarily, the paucibacillary nature of lesion, which gives poor sensitivity and reproducibility, with long turnaround time of routine/conventional laboratory tests and the requirement for invasive procedures and expertise. The Xpert MTB/RIF assay has been approved by the World Health Organization as a rapid diagnostic tool for diagnosing pulmonary and extrapulmonary TB.AIM To emphasize the diagnostic efficiency of gene Xpert for OATB in suspected patients in a tertiary care hospital of Eastern India.METHODS This retrospective study was conducted in the Department of Microbiology and Orthopaedics by analyzing the data of the gene Xpert assay over a 3-year duration from January 2018 to February 2021. Demographic and clinical data were recorded. The diagnostic efficiency of gene Xpert was evaluated against the composite reference standard(CRS).RESULTS A total of 37 cases fell into positive, probable, and possible categories of osteoarticular TB out of 112 patients included in the study by CRS;gene Xpert result was positive in 35 out of the 37 different CRS categorized cases. Of the 112 cases, culture was put in 40 cases, and, of these cultures, 5 cases showed the growth of MTB. Of these, 4 cases were included in the 35 cases diagnosed by gene Xpert.Smear microscopy was positive in 6 out of 37 CRS categorized cases. When compared with CRS, the sensitivity of gene Xpert assay, culture, and smear was found to be 94.6%, 13.5%, and 16.2%, respectively, while specificity in all the three types of tests was 100%. When kappa statistics were applied, the percentage of agreement gene Xpert, culture, and microscopy with CRS was found to be 95%, 20%, and 22.6%, respectively. Follow-up of the gene Xpert positive patients after getting anti-tubercular treatment revealed improved conditions.CONCLUSION Gene Xpert could detect 31 extra cases with a low and very low mycobacterial load that were missed by the routine culture methods.
