2Changing trends in prevalence of different Plasmodium species with dominance of Plasmodium falciparum malaria infection in Aligarh(India)显示文摘Objective:To determine the prevalence of malaria in Aligarh and analyze species dominance in different years over a decade.Methods:Diagnosis of malaria was done using microscopy as gold standard,rapid antigen detection assays and quantitative buffy coat(QBC) assays.Giemsa stained blood smear examination was done,thick and thin films were examined for presence of different Plasmodium spp.Rapid antigen detection assays employing detection of HRP-2 and parasite lactate dehydrogenase antigen(pLDH) by immunochromatography was done in patients whose blood smear found to be negative by conventional Giemsa slide examination.QBC was done in cases where there is strong clinical suspicion of malaria with blood smear negative,in patients with chronic malaria,splenomegaly,or in those patients who had inadequate treatment and for post-treatment follow up.Results:Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium falciparum were only species detected in our hospital.Overall prevalence of malaria in Aligarh was found to be 8.8%.The maximum prevalence of 20.1%was observed in year 2008 and lowest 2.3%in 2002. 4Helping Meet Reproductive Health Needs in Pakistan through a Client-centred Approach显示文摘Objective To test the feasibility of training clinic and facility based providers from the Health and Population Welfare Departments. Methods District Sargodha in Punjab province in Pakistan was selected for carrying out the project as it fulfilled the criteria of being a median district with generally similar characteristics as the rest of the country. A quasi-experimental design was used to test the effectiveness of the training programs.Two rounds of situation analy- ses were carried out both pre and post intervention. Results There was a positive attitudinal change in providers in the intervention areas as compared with the control sites. From a list of indicators it was seen that clinic based static providers considered it important to enquire who were the main decision makers were in the family, 60% in intervention versus 49 % in control, and if the client can persuade other members of the family to assist in solving her reproductive health needs, 19% in intervention and 3% in control. In case of community based providers, as compared with 16% in the control site, 76% in the intervention area considered seeking permission for examination to be important. They also felt that enquiring about the welfare of other family members was also necessary, 50% in intervention and 34% in control. Conclusion Training of providers could lead to attitudinal and behavioural changes that can help clients meet their reproductive health needs, and the intervention is feasible and replicable.Ali Mohammad Zeba. 5Real Objects Understanding Using 3D Haptic Virtual Reality for E-Learning Education显示文摘In the past two decades,there has been a lot of work on computer vision technology that incorporates many tasks which implement basic filtering to image classification.Themajor research areas of this field include object detection and object recognition.Moreover,wireless communication technologies are presently adopted and they have impacted the way of education that has been changed.There are different phases of changes in the traditional system.Perception of three-dimensional(3D)from two-dimensional(2D)image is one of the demanding tasks.Because human can easily perceive but making 3D using software will take time manually.Firstly,the blackboard has been replaced by projectors and other digital screens so such that people can understand the concept better through visualization.Secondly,the computer labs in schools are now more common than ever.Thirdly,online classes have become a reality.However,transferring to online education or e-learning is not without challenges.Therefore,we propose a method for improving the efficiency of e-learning.Our proposed system consists of twoand-a-half dimensional(2.5D)features extraction using machine learning and image processing.Then,these features are utilized to generate 3D mesh using ellipsoidal deformation method.After that,3D bounding box estimation is applied.Our results show that there is a need to move to 3D virtual reality(VR)with haptic sensors in the field of e-learning for a better understanding of real-world objects.Thus,people will have more information as compared to the traditional or simple online education tools.We compare our result with the ShapeNet dataset to check the accuracy of our proposed method.Our proposed system achieved an accuracy of 90.77%on plane class,85.72%on chair class,and car class have 72.14%.Mean accuracy of our method is 70.89%.Samia Allaoua Chelloug Hamid Ashfaq Suliman A.Alsuhibany Mohammad Shorfuzzaman Abdulmajeed Alsufyani Ahmad Jalal Jeongmin Park 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,1:0
6Role of coronary angiogram before transcatheter aortic valve implantation显示文摘BACKGROUND Coexistent coronary artery disease is commonly seen in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation(TAVI).Previous studies showed that pre-TAVI coronary revascularisation was not associated with improved outcomes,challenging the clinical value of routine coronary angiogram(CA).AIM To assess whether a selective approach to perform pre-TAVI CA is safe and feasible.METHODS This was a retrospective non-randomised single-centre analysis of consecutive patients undergoing TAVI.A selective approach for performing CA tailored to patient clinical need was developed.Clinical outcomes were compared based on whether patients underwent CA.The primary endpoint was a composite of allcause mortality,myocardial infraction,repeat CA,and re-admission with heart failure.RESULTS Of 348 patients(average age 81±7 and 57%male)were included with a median follow up of 19(9-31)mo.One hundred and fifty-four(44%)patients,underwent CA before TAVI procedure.Patients who underwent CA were more likely to have previous myocardial infarction(MI)and previous percutaneous revascularisation.The primary endpoint was comparable between the two group(22.6%vs 22.2%;hazard ratio 1.05,95%CI:0.67-1.64,P=0.82).Patients who had CA were less likely to be readmitted with heart failure(P=0.022),but more likely to have repeat CA(P=0.002)and MI(P=0.007).In those who underwent CA,the presence of flow limiting lesions did not affect the incidence of primary endpoint,or its components,except for increased rate of repeat CA.CONCLUSION Selective CA is a feasible and safe approach.The clinical value of routine CA should be challenged in future randomised trials.Benjamin Beska Divya Manoharan Ashfaq Mohammed Rajiv Das Richard Edwards Azfar Zaman Mohammad Alkhalil 2021World Journal of Cardiology2021,13,8:0

This system is mainly based on seasonal migration of pastoralists and their livestock herds between upland and lowland pastures. Traditionally pastoral activities make significant contributions to mountain livelihood subsistence, regional economies and environmental sustainability. However, the pastoralist’s lifestyle and their economies are increasingly confronted to various socio-political, economic and ecological stresses from the last few decades. Extensive literature reviewed on this subject with the aim to explore the current emerging challenges faced by pastoral communities in different pastoral regions. It has been revealed from literature that the prevalent socio-political and economic stress on pastoralism caused by modernization, insecure land tenure, integration of market economy, civil insecurities and pastoralist’s exclusion in states policies while ecological stress on pastoral activities emerged with increasing focus on nature conservation in pastoral regions and climate change induced hazards and disasters. As a consequence of these challenges, pastoral households are abandoning livestock herding–as a traditional way of life and are in continuous transition to transform their pastoral practices and institutions. 9Advanced glycation end product signaling and metabolic complications:Dietary approach显示文摘Advanced glycation end products(AGEs)are a heterogeneous collection of compounds formed during industrial processing and home cooking through a sequence of nonenzymatic glycation reactions.The modern western diet is full of heat-treated foods that contribute to AGE intake.Foods high in AGEs in the contemporary diet include processed cereal products.Due to industrialization and marketing strategies,restaurant meals are modified rather than being traditionally or conventionally cooked.Fried,grilled,baked,and boiled foods have the greatest AGE levels.Higher AGE-content foods include dry nuts,roasted walnuts,sunflower seeds,fried chicken,bacon,and beef.Animal proteins and processed plant foods contain furosine,acrylamide,heterocyclic amines,and 5-hydroxymethylfurfural.Furosine(2-furoil-methyl-lysine)is an amino acid found in cooked meat products and other processed foods.High concentrations of carboxymethyl-lysine,carboxyethyl-lysine,and methylglyoxal-O are found in heat-treated nonvegetarian foods,peanut butter,and cereal items.Increased plasma levels of AGEs,which are harmful chemicals that lead to age-related diseases and physiological aging,diabetes,and autoimmune/inflammatory rheumatic diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis.AGEs in the pathophysiology of metabolic diseases have been linked to individuals with diabetes mellitus who have peripheral nerves with high amounts of AGEs and diabetes has been linked to increased myelin glycation.Insulin resistance and hyperglycemia can impact numerous human tissues and organs,leading to long-term difficulties in a number of systems and organs,including the cardiovascular system.Plasma AGE levels are linked to all-cause mortality in individuals with diabetes who have fatal or nonfatal coronary artery disease,such as ventricular dysfunction.High levels of tissue AGEs are independently associated with cardiac systolic dysfunction in diabetic patients with heart failure compared with diabetic patients without heart failure.It is widely recognized that AGEs and oxidative stress play a key role in the cardiovascular complications of diabetes because they both influence and are impacted by oxidative stress.All chronic illnesses involve protein,lipid,or nucleic acid modifications including crosslinked and nondegradable aggregates known as AGEs.Endogenous AGE formation or dietary AGE uptake can result in additional protein modifications and stimulation of several inflammatory signaling pathways.Many of these systems,however,require additional explanation because they are not entirely obvious.This review summarizes the current evidence regarding dietary sources of AGEs and metabolism-related complications associated with AGEs.Mohammad Idreesh Khan Fauzia Ashfaq Abdulrahman A Alsayegh Alshaimaa Hamouda Fahmida Khatoon Tahani Nasser Altamimi Fahad Saad Alhodieb Mirza Masroor Ali Beg 2023World Journal of Diabetes2023,14,7:0
