| 5 | Magnesium sulfate and fetal neuroprotection: overview of clinical evidence显示文摘Antenatal administration of magnesium sulfate is an important part of the neuroprotective strategy for preterm infants. Strong evidence from five randomized controlled trials and five meta-analyses has demonstrated that magnesium sulfate, when administered before preterm delivery, significantly reduces the risk of cerebral palsy at two years. Through secondary analyses of randomized controlled trials and other original clinical studies, this state-of-the-art review highlights the absence of serious adverse effects in both pregnant women and neonates, as well as the impact of maternal body mass index and preeclamptic status on the maternal and neonatal magnesium levels, which could influence the magnitude of the neuroprotective effect. Although antenatal magnesium sulfate is a cost-effective strategy, some practice surveys have demonstrated that the use of magnesium sulfate is not sufficient and that its use is heterogeneous, differing among different maternity wards. Since 2010, an increasing number of obstetrical societies have recommended its use to improve the neurological outcomes of preterm infants, especially the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics and World Health Organization in 2015, and France in 2017. | 6 | Prokineticin 2/Bv8 is expressed in Kupffer cells in liver and is down regulated in human hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘AIM: To study the implication of prokineticin 1 (PK1/EG- VEGF) and prokineticin 2 (PK2/Bv8) in hepatocellular carcinoma angiogenesis. METHODS: The gene induction of PK1/EG-VEGF and PK2/Bv8 was investigated in 10 normal, 28 fibrotic and 28 tumoral livers by using real time PCR. Their expression was compared to the expression of VEGF (an angiogenesis marker), vWF (an endothelial cell marker) and to CD68 (a monocyte/macrophage marker). Furthermore, the mRNA levels of PK1/EG-VEGF, PK2/Bv8, prokineticin receptor 1 and 2 were evaluated by real time PCR in isolated liver cell populations. Finally, PK2/Bv8 protein was detected in normal liver paraffin sections and in isolated liver cells by immunohistochemistry and immunocytochemistry. RESULTS: PK2/Bv8 mRNA but not PK1/EG-VEGF was expressed in all types of normal liver samples examined. In the context of liver tumor development, we reported that PK2/Bv8 correlates only with CD68 and showed a significant decrease in expression as the pathology evolves towards cancer. Whereas, VEGF and vWF mRNA were significantly upregulated in both fibrosis and HCC,as expected. In addition, out of all isolated liver cells examined, only Kupffer cells (liver resident macrophages) express significant levels of PK2/Bv8 and its receptors, prokineticin receptor 1 and 2. CONCLUSION: In normal liver PK2/Bv8 and its receptors were specifically expressed by Kupffer cells. | 8 | Phase Diversity Electro-optic Sampling:A new approach to single-shot terahertz waveform recording显示文摘Recording electric field evolution in single-shot with THz bandwidth is needed in science including spectroscopy,plasmas,biology,chemistry,Free-Electron Lasers,accelerators,and material inspection.However,the potential application range depends on the possibility to achieve sub-picosecond resolution over a long time window,which is a largely open problem for single-shot techniques.To solve this problem,we present a new conceptual approach for the so-called spectral decoding technique,where a chirped laser pulse interacts with a THz signal in a Pockels crystal,and is analyzed using a grating optical spectrum analyzer.By borrowing mathematical concepts from photonic time stretch theory and radio-frequency communication,we deduce a novel dual-output electro-optic sampling system,for which the input THz signal can be numerically retrieved—with unprecedented resolution—using the so-called phase diversity technique.We show numerically and experimentally that this approach enables the recording of THz waveforms in single-shot over much longer durations and/or higher bandwidth than previous spectral decoding techniques.We present and test the proposed DEOS(Diversity Electro-Optic Sampling)design for recording 1.5 THz bandwidth THz pulses,over 20 ps duration,in single-shot.Then we demonstrate the potential of DEOS in accelerator physics by recording,in two successive shots,the shape of 200 fs RMS relativistic electron bunches at European X-FEL,over 10 ps recording windows.The designs presented here can be used directly for accelerator diagnostics,characterization of THz sources,and single-shot Time-Domain Spectroscopy. | Eléonore Roussel Christophe Szwaj Clément Evain Bernd Steffen Christopher Gerth Bahram Jalali Serge Bielawski | 2022 | Light(Science & Applications)2022，11，1： | 3 |

| 10 | phosphatase and tensin homolog is a differential diagnostic marker between nonalcoholic and alcoholic fatty liver disease显示文摘AIM: To investigate the protein expression of phosphatase and tensin homolog(PTEN) in human liver biopsies of patients with alcoholic and non-alcoholic liver disease.METHODS: PTEN protein expression was assessed by immunohistochemistry in formalin-fixed, paraffinembedded liver sections of patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)(n = 44) or alcoholic liver disease(ALD)(n = 25). Liver resections obtained from 3 healthy subjects candidate for partial liver donation served as controls. Histological evaluations were performed by two experienced pathologists, and diagnoses established based on international criteria. The intensity of the PTEN staining in nuclei was compared between steatotic and non-steatotic areas of each liver fragment analyzed. For each liver specimen, the antibody-stained sections were examined and scored blindly by three independent observers, who were unaware of the patients' clinical history.RESULTS: In healthy individuals, PTEN immunostaining was intense in both the cytoplasm and nuclei of all hepatocytes. However, PTEN was strongly downregulated in both the nucleus and the cytoplasm of hepatocytes from steatotic areas in patients with NAFLD, independently of the disease stage. In contrast, no changes in PTEN protein expression were observed in patients with ALD, regardless of the presence of steatosis or the stage of the disease. The degree of PTEN downregulation in hepatocytes of patients with NAFLD correlated with the percentage of steatosis(r = 0.3061, P = 0.0459) and the BMI(r = 0.4268, P = 0.0043). Hovewer, in patients with ALD, PTEN expression was not correlated with the percentage of steatosis with or without obesity as a confounding factor(P = 0.5574). Finally, PTEN expression level in steatotic areas of ALD patients was significantly different from that seen in steatotic areas of NAFLD patients(P < 0.0001).CONCLUSION: PTEN protein expression is downregulated early in NAFLD, but not in ALD.
