| 5 | Validation of the chinese version of the EORTC QLQ-CR29 in patients with colorectal cancer显示文摘AIM To assess the validity and reliability of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-Colorectal Cancer 29(EORTC QLQ-CR29) in Chinese patients with colorectal cancer(CRC). METHODS From March 2014 to January 2015, 356 patients with CRC from four different hospitals in China were enrolled in the study, and all patients self-administered the EORTC QLQ-CR29 and the quality of life core questionnaire(EORTC QLQ-C30). Evaluation of the scores was based on the Karnofsky Performance Scale(KPS). The reliability and validity of the questionnaires were assessed by Cronbach's α coefficient, the Spearman correlation test and Wilcoxon rank sum test.RESULTS The EORTC QLQ-CR29 showed satisfactory reliability(α > 0.7), although the urinary frequency and blood and mucus in stool dimensions had only moderate reliability(α = 0.608). The multitrait scaling analyses showed good convergent(r > 0.4) and discriminant validity. Significant differences were obtained for each item in the different KPS subgroups(KPS ≤ 80; KPS > 80). body image and most single-item dimensions showed statistically significant differences in patients with a stoma compared with the rest of the patients. | 6 | Yolk-shell Si/C composites with multiple Si nanoparticles encapsulated into double carbon shells as lithium-ion battery anodes显示文摘The conceptual design of yolk-shell structured Si/C composites is considered to be an effective way to improve the recyclability and conductivity of Si-based anode materials. Herein, a new type of yolk-shell structured Si/C composite (denoted as TSC-PDA-B) has been intelligently designed by rational engineering and precise control. In the novel structure, the multiple Si nanoparticles with small size are successfully encapsulated into the porous carbon shells with double layers benefiting from the strong etching effect of HF. The TSC-PDA-B product prepared is evaluated as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). The TSC-PDA-B product exhibits an excellent lithium storage performance with a high initial capacity of 2108 mAh g^-1 at a current density of 100 mA g^-1 and superior cycling performance of 1113 mAh g^-1 over 200 cycles. The enhancement of lithium storage performance may be attributed to the construction of hybrid structure including small Si nanoparticles, high surface area, and double carbon shells, which can not only increase electrical conductiv让y and intimate electrical contact with Si nanoparticles, but also provide built-in buffer voids for Si nanoparticles to expand freely without damaging the carbon layer. The mass transfer parameters of the TSBP-RPB were investigated using a chemisorption system. Continuous distillation experiments were conducted in the TSBP-RPB by the methanol–water binary system. Experimental results showed that values of the effective interfacial area and liquid-side mass transfer coefficient of the TSBP-RPB were 93–337 m^2·m^(-3) and 0.05–0.19 cm·s^(-1), respectively. The height of equivalent theoretical plate(HETP) of the TSBP-RPB ranged from 1.9 to 10 cm. | 17 | Regulation of microbiota–GLP1 axis by sennoside A in diet-induced obese mice显示文摘Sennoside A(SA) is a bioactive component of Chinese herbal medicines with an activity of irritant laxative, which is often used in the treatment of constipation and obesity. However, its activity remains unknown in the regulation of insulin sensitivity. In this study, the impact of SA on insulin sensitivity was tested in high fat diet(HFD)-induced obese mice through dietary supplementation. At a dosage of 30 mg/kg/day, SA improved insulin sensitivity in the mice after 8-week treatment as indicated by HOMA-IR(homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance) and glucose tolerance test(GTT). SA restored plasma level of glucagon-like peptide 1(GLP1) by 90% and mRNA expression of Glp1 by 80% in the large intestine of HFD mice. In the mechanism, SA restored the gut microbiota profile, short chain fatty acids(SCFAs), and mucosal structure in the colon. A mitochondrial stress was observed in the enterocytes of HFD mice with ATP elevation, structural damage, and complex dysfunction. The mitochondrial response was induced in enterocytes by the dietary fat as the same responses were induced by palmitic acid in the cell culture. The mitochondrial response was inhibited in HFD mice by SA treatment. | 18 | Design and field evaluation of hill-drop pneumatic central cylinder direct-seeding machine for hybrid rice显示文摘To meet the requirement of the precision direct-seeding for hybrid rice,this study aimed to design a hill-drop pneumatic central cylinder direct-seeding machine to sow ten rows at a time.A series of orthogonal experiments were conducted to investigate the performance of the cylinder seeder.The influences of the hole diameters,degree of vacuum,and rotational speed of the cylinder were tested on JPS-12 computer-vision seeding test platform,and the rotational speed of 10-50 r/min,diameter of 135 mm and a negative pressure of 1.0-2.0 kPa were employed.Test results showed that the optimal parameter combination was a vacuum of 2.0 kPa and a hole diameter of 2.0 mm(straight hole),with a rotational speed of 30 r/min.The probability of(2±1)seeds in each hole was 95.3%,while the probability of seed-missing hole was 2.0%.A series of field experiments were then conducted to test the seeder performance according to China National Standard Test Methods,and the field test results showed that for the hill-drop pneumatic central cylinder direct-seeding machine,the probability of(2±1)seeds in each hill was 91.6%,while the probability of seed-missing hill was 2.7%.The yield data showed that the average effective panicle had 231.25 ears,the average seed setting rate was 9.92%,the average 1000-grain weight was 22.45 g,and the average yield was 7107.9 kg/hm^(2) that was 26.14%higher than the average yield of rice(5634.9 kg/hm^(2))of Guangdong Province in 2016.The results showed that the hill-drop pneumatic central cylinder direct-seeding machine for hybrid rice could be applied in practical precision rice seeding. | Baolong Wang Xiwen Luo Zaiman Wang Le Zheng Minghua Zhang Yizheng Dai He Xing | 2018 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2018,11,6: | 4 |
| 19 | Implication and challenges of direct-fed microbial supplementation to improve ruminant production and health显示文摘Direct-fed microbials(DFMs)are feed additives containing live naturally existing microbes that can benefit animals’health and production performance.Due to the banned or strictly limited prophylactic and growth promoting usage of antibiotics,DFMs have been considered as one of antimicrobial alternatives in livestock industry.Microorganisms used as DFMs for ruminants usually consist of bacteria including lactic acid producing bacteria,lactic acid utilizing bacteria and other bacterial groups,and fungi containing Saccharomyces and Aspergillus.To date,the available DFMs for ruminants have been largely based on their effects on improving the feed efficiency and ruminant productivity through enhancing the rumen function such as stabilizing ruminal pH,promoting ruminal fermentation and feed digestion.Recent research has shown emerging evidence that the DFMs may improve performance and health in young ruminants,however,these positive outcomes were not consistent among studies and the modes of action have not been clearly defined.This review summarizes the DFM studies conducted in ruminants in the last decade,aiming to provide the new knowledge on DFM supplementation strategies for various ruminant production stages,and to identify what are the potential barriers and challenges for current ruminant industry to adopt the DFMs.Overall literature research indicates that DFMs have the potential to mitigate ruminal acidosis,improve immune response and gut health,increase productivity(growth and milk production),and reduce methane emissions or fecal shedding of pathogens.More research is needed to explore the mode of action of specific DFMs in the gut of ruminants,and the optimal supplementation strategies to promote the development and efficiency of DFM products for ruminants. | Yajing Ban Le Luo Guan | 2022 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2022,13,2: | 4 |
| 20 | Clinical Outcome of Autologous Hematopoietic Stem Cell Infusion via Hepatic Artery or Portal Vein in Patients with End-stage Liver Diseases显示文摘Objective To investigate the efficacy of hematopoietic stem cell(HSC) transplantation via the hepatic artery vs.the portal vein for end-stage liver disease(ESLD).Methods Patients with hepatic decompensation were prospectively recruited from September 2010 to September 2012 to receive HSC transplantation via the hepatic artery or the portal vein.Liver function was examined at 3,6,and 12 months after transplantation.Liver biopsy results were analyzed using the Knodell score.Results Eighty patients(58 males and 22 females) were enrolled in the study.The Child-Pugh score was grade B in 69 cases,and grade C in the remaining 11 cases.HSC transplantation was performed via the portal vein in 36 patients and via the hepatic artery in 44 patients.ALT levels decreased while serum albumin levels increased significantly in both groups at 6 and 12 months after HSC transplantation(P<0.05 compared with pre-transplantation levels).Total bilirubin levels decreased significantly in both groups at 3,6,and 12 months after HSC transplantation(P<0.05 compared with pre-transplantation levels).Additionally,prothrombin time decreased in both groups at 12 months after HSC transplantation(P<0.05 compared with pre-transplantation level).There were no significant differences in ALT,total bilirubin and prothrombin time between the two groups either before or after transplantation.Moreover,Knodell score decreased significantly at 6 and 12 months.Histological examination showed that liver cell edema,degeneration,necrosis,and inflammation were significantly relieved at 3,6,and 12 months after transplantation.The incidence of portal vein thrombosis,upper gastrointestinal bleeding,and hepatic encephalopathy were 1.25%,3.75%,and 2.5% respectively.The one-year survival rate was 100%.Conclusions Autologous HSC transplantation improves liver function and histology in ESLD patients.The administration route of HSC has no significant impact on the efficacy of transplantation. | Xiao-lun Huang Le Luo Lan-yun Luo Hua Xue Ling-ling Wei Yu-tong Yao Hai-bo Zou Xiao-bing Huang Yi-fan Zhu Tian Zhang Ping Xie Mao-zhu Yang Shao-ping Deng | 2014 | Chinese Medical Sciences Journal2014,29,1: | 4 |
