| 1 | Rural land use spatial allocation in the semiarid loess hilly area in China:Using a Particle Swarm Optimization model equipped with multi-objective optimization techniques显示文摘Semiarid loess hilly areas in China are enduring a series of environmental conflicts between urban expansion,cultivated land conservation,soil erosion and water shortage,and require land use allocation to reconcile these environmental conflicts.We argue that the optimized spatial allocation of rural land use can be achieved by a Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) model in conjunction with multi-objective optimization techniques.Our study focuses on Yuzhong County of Gangsu Province in China,a typical catchment on the Loess Plateau,and proposes a land use spatial optimization model.The model maximizes land use suitability and spatial compactness based on a variety of constraints,e.g.optimal land use structure and restrictive areas,and employs an improved PSO algorithm equipped with a determinant initialization method and a dynamic weighted aggregation (DWA) method to obtain the optimized land use spatial pattern.The results suggest that (1) approximately 4% of land use should be reallocated and these changes would alleviate the environmental conflicts in the study area;(2) the major reshuffling is slope farmland and newly added construction and cultivated land,whereas the unchanged areas are largely forests and basic farmland;and (3) the PSO is capable of optimizing rural land use allocation,and the determinant initialization method and DWA can improve the performance of the PSO. | LIU YaoLin LIU DianFeng LIU YanFang HE JianHua JIAO LiMin CHEN YiYun HONG XiaoFeng | 2012 | Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,7: | 23 |
| 2 | p53 upregulated by HIF-la promotes hypoxiainduced G2/M arrest and renal fibrosis in vitro and in vivo显示文摘Hypoxia plays an important role in the genesis and progression of renal fibrosis.The underlying mechanisms, however, have not been sufficiently elucidated. We examined the role of p53 in hypoxia-induced renal fibrosis in cell culture (human and rat renal tubular epithelial cells) and a mouse unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) model. Cell cycle of tubular cells was determined by flow cytometry, and the expression of profibrogenic factors was determined by RT-PCR, immunohistochemistry, and western blotting. Chromatin immunoprecipitation and luciferase reporter experiments were performed to explore the effect of HIF-lα on p53 expression. We showed that, in hypoxic tubular cells, p53 upregulation suppressed the expression of CDK1 and cyclins Bl and DI, leading to cell cycle (G2/M) arrest (or delay) and higher expression of TGF-β, CTGF, collagens, and fibronectin. p53 suppression by siRNA or by a specific p53 inhibitor (PIF-α) triggered opposite effects preventing the G2/M arrest and profibrotic changes. In vivo experiments in the UUO model revealed similar antifibrotic results following intraperitoneal administration of PIF-α(2.2 mg/kg). Using gain-of-function, loss-of-function, and luciferase assays, we further identified an HRE3 region on the p53 promoter as the HIF-lα-binding site. The HIF-la-HRE3 binding resulted in a sharp transcriptional activation of p53. Collectively, we show the presence of a hypoxia-activated, p53-responsive profibrogenic pathway in the kidney. | 6 | Road Centrality and Landscape Spatial Patterns in Wuhan Metropolitan Area,China显示文摘Road network is a corridor system that interacts with surrounding landscapes,and understanding their interaction helps to develop an optimal plan for sustainable transportation and land use.This study investigates the relationships between road centrality and landscape patterns in the Wuhan Metropolitan Area,China.The densities of centrality measures,including closeness,betweenness,and straightness,are calculated by kernel density estimation(KDE).The landscape patterns are characterized by four landscape metrics,including percentage of landscape(PLAND),Shannon′s diversity index(SHDI),mean patch size(MPS),and mean shape index(MSI).Spearman rank correlation analysis is then used to quantify their relationships at both landscape and class levels.The results show that the centrality measures can reflect the hierarchy of road network as they associate with road grade.Further analysis exhibit that as centrality densities increase,the whole landscape becomes more fragmented and regular.At the class level,the forest gradually decreases and becomes fragmented,while the construction land increases and turns to more compact.Therefore,these findings indicate that the ability and potential applications of centrality densities estimated by KDE in quantifying the relationships between roads and landscapes,can provide detailed information and valuable guidance for transportation and land-use planning as well as a new insight into ecological effects of roads. | LIU Yaolin WANG Huimin JIAO Limin LIU Yanfang HE Jianhua AI Tinghua | 2015 | Chinese Geographical Science2015,25,4: | 9 |

| 8 | Efficacy and safety of low-dose interleukin-2 in combination with methotrexate in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis:a randomized,double-blind,placebo-controlled phase 2 trial显示文摘Rheumatoid arthritis(RA)is an aggressive autoimmune arthritis,and current therapies remain unsatisfactory due to low remission rate and substantially adverse effects.Low-dose interleukin-2(Ld-IL2)is potentially a therapeutic approach to further improve the disease.This randomized,double-blind,placebo-controlled trial was undertaken to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Ld-IL2 in patients with active RA.Patients were randomly assigned(1:1)to receive Ld-IL2,defined as a dose of 1 million IU,or placebo in a 12-week trial with a 12-week follow-up.Three cycles of Ld-IL2 or placebo were administered subcutaneously every other day for 2 weeks(a total of 7 doses),followed by a 2-week break.All patients received a stable dose of methotrexate(MTX).The primary outcomes were the proportion of patients achieving the ACR20,DAS28-ESR<2.6,and the change from baseline in CDAI or SDAI at week 24.Secondary endpoints included other clinical responses and safety.The primary outcomes were achieved in the perprotocol population.The improvements from baseline in CDAI and SDAI were significantly greater across time points for the LdIL2+MTX group(n=17)than for the placebo+MTX group(n=23)(P=0.018 and P=0.015,respectively).More patients achieved ACR20 response in the Ld-IL2+MTX group than those in the placebo+MTX group at week 12(70.6%vs 43.5%)and at week 24(76.5%vs 56.5%)(P=0.014).In addition,low Treg and high IL-21 were associated with good responses to Ld-IL2.Ld-IL-2 treatment was well-tolerated in this study.These results suggested that Ld-IL2 was effective and safe in RA.ClinicalTrials.gov number:NCT 02467504. | Xiaoying Zhang Miao Miao Ruijun Zhang Xu Liu Xiaozhen Zhao Miao Shao Tian Liu Yuebo Jin Jiali Chen Huixin Liu Xia Zhang Yun Li Yunshan Zhou Yue Yang Ru Li Haihong Yao Yanying Liu Chun Li Yuhui Li Limin Ren Yin Su Xiaolin Sun Jing He Zhanguo Li | 2022 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,4: | 7 |

| 10 | Efficient parallel implementation of the lattice Boltzmann method on large clusters of graphic processing units显示文摘Many-core processors, such as graphic processing units (GPUs), are promising platforms for intrinsic parallel algorithms such as the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM). Although tremendous speedup has been obtained on a single GPU compared with mainstream CPUs, the performance of the LBM for multiple GPUs has not been studied extensively and systematically. In this article, we carry out LBM simulation on a GPU cluster with many nodes, each having multiple Fermi GPUs. Asynchronous execution with CUDA stream functions, OpenMP and non-blocking MPI communication are incorporated to improve efficiency. The algorithm is tested for two-dimensional Couette flow and the results are in good agreement with the analytical solution. For both the oneand two-dimensional decomposition of space, the algorithm performs well as most of the communication time is hidden. Direct numerical simulation of a two-dimensional gas-solid suspension containing more than one million solid particles and one billion gas lattice cells demonstrates the potential of this algorithm in large-scale engineering applications. | 12 | Effects of preventive acupuncture or moxibustion at the Guanyuan acupoint on expression of interleukin-2 and its receptors in hypothalamus, serum, and uterus of menopausal rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: Previous studies have indicated preventive acupuncture and moxibustion at the Guanyuan point have positive effects on the immune system of menopausal rats. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of preventive acupuncture or moxibustion at the Guanyuan point on interleukin-2 (IL-2) and its receptor (IL-2R mRNA) levels in hypothalamus, serum, and uterus of menopausal rats. DESIGN: Randomized control animal experiment. SETTING: School of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. MATERIALS: This study was performed at the Laboratory of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine from November 2004 to July 2005. The vaginal smear method was used to determine the estrus cycle of 9.5-month-old Sprague Dawley (SD) female rats. Three continuous estrus cycles were measured, and 160 rats with estrus cycle disorder, weighing (300 ± 20) g, were included in this study. The rats were randomly divided into four groups: preventive acupuncture group (n =48), preventive moxibustion group (n =48), model groups (n =48), and 10-month-old group (n =16). Sixteen 3.5-month-old healthy SD female rats, weighing (240 ± 20) g, were also assigned to the young group. All rats were clean grade and were purchased from the Laboratory Animal Center, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. The experiment was in accordance with animal ethics standards. METHODS: Acupuncture was applied to the preventive acupuncture group at 10 months of age. The needle was inserted upward and perpendicularly two fen to a point that was two fen below the Guanyuan point. The rats freely moved around during needle retention (20 minutes). Acupuncture was administered twice a week and continued for eight weeks. A moxa cone (small) moxibustion was applied to the preventive moxibustion group at 10 months of age. The rats were caught gently and kept at the same position as the preventive acupuncture group. The moxa cone was ignited and held to the Guanyuan point directly. Only one moxa cone was used each time. After moxibustion, the local skin turned slightly red. Moxibustion was used twice a week and continued for eight weeks. Nothing except gently catching and lying was administered to the model group and the young group. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Radioimmunoassay, in situ hybridization, and similar methods were employed to detect IL-2 in serum and the uterus, as well as IL-2R mRNA expression in the hypothalamus and uterus arcuate nuclei, of the preventive acupuncture group, preventive moxibustion group, model groups (at 12, 14, and 16 months), 10 month old group (at 10 months), and the young group (at 4 months). RESULTS: All 176 rats were included in the final analysis. ① IL-2R mRNA: IL-2R mRNA expression decreased significantly in the uterus of 12-, 14-, and 16-month-old model groups and in the hypothalamus of 14- and 16-month-old model groups (P < 0.05-0.01). Compared to the same month-aged model groups, the expression of IL-2R mRNA increased significantly in the hypothalamus and uterus of 16-month-old preventive acupuncture or moxibustion groups (P < 0.05-0.01).② IL-2: IL-2 in serum of 12- and 14-month-old model groups and in the uterus of 12-, 14-, and 16-month-old model groups decreased significantly compared to the young group (P < 0.05-0.01). IL-2 serum levels increased significantly in the 16-month-old group with preventive moxibustion; in addition, IL-2 expression levels increased significantly in the uterus of the 12-month-old group with preventive moxibustion, as well as the 12- and 16-month-old groups with preventive acupuncture (P < 0.05-0.01). CONCLUSION: As a rat ages and becomes menopausal, IL-2R mRNA expression in the hypothalamus anduterus, as well as IL-2 levels in the serum and uterus, decrease. However, preventive acupuncture and preventive moxibustion can repress the decrease to some extent. | 13 | Improved Quality Prediction Model for Multistage Machining Process Based on Geometric Constraint Equation显示文摘Product variation reduction is critical to improve process efficiency and product quality, especially for multistage machining process(MMP). However, due to the variation accumulation and propagation, it becomes quite difficult to predict and reduce product variation for MMP. While the method of statistical process control can be used to control product quality, it is used mainly to monitor the process change rather than to analyze the cause of product variation. In this paper, based on a differential description of the contact kinematics of locators and part surfaces, and the geometric constraints equation defined by the locating scheme, an improved analytical variation propagation model for MMP is presented. In which the influence of both locator position and machining error on part quality is considered while, in traditional model, it usually focuses on datum error and fixture error. Coordinate transformation theory is used to reflect the generation and transmission laws of error in the establishment of the model. The concept of deviation matrix is heavily applied to establish an explicit mapping between the geometric deviation of part and the process error sources. In each machining stage, the part deviation is formulized as three separated components corresponding to three different kinds of error sources, which can be further applied to fault identification and design optimization for complicated machining process. An example part for MMP is given out to validate the effectiveness of the methodology. The experiment results show that the model prediction and the actual measurement match well. | 14 | Macroporous Ni foam-supported Co_3O_4 nanobrush and nanomace hybrid arrays for high-efficiency CO oxidation显示文摘Herein, we reported the synthesis of well-defined Co_3O_4 nanoarrays(NAs) supported on a monolithic three-dimensional macroporous nickel(Ni) foam substrate for use in highefficiency CO oxidation. The monolithic Co_3O_4 NAs catalysts were obtained through a generic hydrothermal synthesis route with subsequent calcination. By controlling the reaction time,solvent polarity and deposition agent, these Co_3O_4 NAs catalysts exhibited various novel morphologies(single or hybrid arrays), whose physicochemical properties were further characterized by using several analytical techniques. Based on the catalytic and characterization analyses, it was found that the Co_3O_4 NAs-6 catalyst with nanobrush and nanomace arrays displayed enhanced catalytic activity for CO oxidation, achieving an efficient 100% CO oxidation conversion at a gas hourly space velocity(GHSV) 10,000 hr^(-1) and 150°C with longterm stability. | 15 | UV/H2O2 oxidation of tri(2-chloroethyl) phosphate: Intermediate products, degradation pathway and toxicity evaluation显示文摘Tri(2-chloroethyl) phosphate(TCEP) with the initial concentration of 5 mg/L was degraded by UV/H2O2 oxidation process. The removal rate of TCEP in the UV/H2O2 system was 89.1% with the production of Cl-and PO4^3- of 0.23 and 0.64 mg/L. The removal rate of total organic carbon of the reaction was 48.8% and the pH reached 3.3 after the reaction. The oxidative degradation process of TCEP in the UV/H2O2 system obeyed the first order kinetic reaction with the apparent rate constant of 0.0025 min^-1( R^2 = 0.9788). The intermediate products were isolated and identified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometer. The addition reaction of HO · and H2O and the oxidation reaction with H2O2 were found during the degradation pathway of 5 mg/L TCEP in the UV/H2O2 system. For the first time, environment risk was estimated via the 'ecological structure activity relationships' program and acute and chronic toxicity changes of intermediate products were pointed out. The luminescence inhibition rate of photobacterium was used to evaluate the acute toxicity of intermediate products. The results showed that the toxicity of the intermediate products increased with the increase of reaction time, which may be due to the production of chlorine compounds. | 16 | Interferon as a Mucosal Adjuvant for an Influenza Vaccine in Pigs显示文摘Interferon,a natural protein that is produced by a variety of cells during viral infection,activates the transcription of multiple functional genes in cells,regulates synergy among various signaling pathways,and mediates many biological functions such as antiviral activity,immune regulation,and cell growth.However,clinical research on interferon in livestock is lacking.In this study,recombinant porcine interferon(PoIFNα)was used as an adjuvant,in combination with inactivated influenza virus,to vaccinate 6-week-old pigs via nasal infusion.The transcription of target genes was then monitored and the functions of PoIFNαwere determined with respect to the activation of mucosal immunity.We found that a combination of low-dose PoIFNαand in activated influenza virus could significantly up-regulate the expression of immunoregulatory cytokines such as IL-2,IL-1β,IFN-γ,IL-6,and IL-10 by real-time PCR,suggesting the induction of a strong mucosal innate immune response after administration.In addition,low-dose PoIFNαcan significant enhancing the transcription of genes encoding homing factors including CCR9 and CCR10(P<0.001),thereby resulting in the induction of higher levels of HA-specific antibodies(P<0.05),which can be determined by ELISA and IFA.Post-immunization challenges with H1N1 virus demonstrated that PoIFNot,combined with inactivated influenza virus,could alleviate clinical signs in pigs during the early stages of viral infection.These studies reveal low-dose PoIFNαas a potential mucosal adjuvant for influenza virus in pigs. | Lirong Liu Wenhui Fan He Zhang Shuang Zhang Liang Cui Meng Wang Xiaoyuan Bai Wenxian Yang Lei Sun Limin Yang Wenjun Liu Jing Li | 2019 | Virologica Sinica2019,34,3: | 3 |
| 17 | Controllable preparation and microwave absorption properties of shape anisotropic Fe_(3)O_(4) nanobelts显示文摘To substantially prevent electromagnetic threatens,microwave absorbing materials(MAMs)are required to eliminate surplus electromagnetic waves.As a typical MAM,Fe_(3)O_(4) particles with complex permittivity and permeability have been widely applied due to the coexistence of magnetic loss and dielectric loss.However,the necessary high mass fraction significantly limited its applications,thus Fe_(3)O_(4) nanostructures have been extensively investigated to overcome this problem.In this work,uniform Fe_(3)O_(4) nanobelts were prepared by electrospinning and two-step thermal treatment.By controlling the composition and viscosity of the electrospinning precursor solution,Fe_(3)O_(4) nanobelts with tunable lateral sizes(200 nme1 mm)were obtained.The samples with low content(only 16.7 wt%)Fe_(3)O_(4) exhibited wide maximum effective absorbing bandwidths(EAB)over 3 GHz,and Fe_(3)O_(4) nanobelts with smaller lateral sizes showed a maximum EAB of 4.93 GHz.Meanwhile,Fe_(3)O_(4) nanobelts with smaller lateral sizes presented superior reflection loss properties,the lowest reflection loss reached-53.93 dB at 10.10 GHz,while the maximum EAB was up to 2.98 GHz.The excellent microwave reflection loss of Fe_(3)O_(4) nanobelts was contributed to the enhanced synergistic effect of magnetic loss,dielectric loss,and impedance matching,originated from the hierarchically cross-linked networks and shape anisotropies.This study could broaden the practical applications of magnetic absorbers,and provided an approach for the development of shape anisotropic magnetic materials. | Jialiang Pan Rujing Zhang Jun Ling Min Wang Zechen Li Zhen Zhen Limin He Hongwei Zhu | 2021 | Journal of Materiomics2021,7,5: | 3 |

| 19 | Influence of separator control on the characteristics of severe slugging flow显示文摘Due to the special structure of offshore multiphase pipes, it is easy for severe slugging to occur in the riser at low gas-liquid velocity. Violent pressure fluctuations and dramatic changes of flow rate are the main characteristics of severe slugging, leading to the risk of serious damage. In this paper, the separator control is adopted to accurately control the separator liquid level and pressure under severe slugging flow conditions. This indicates that the separator liquid level control alone does not have a significant impact on the upstream flow, but it is beneficial for normal operation and pressure control of the separator. As the separator pressure increases, the peak pressure in the riser apparently diminishes, and the amplitude of pressure fluctuation gradually decreases, which means that severe slugging is inhibited. During the slug blowing out, the gas/liquid slipping in the riser intensifies. The long gas plug quickly flows through the riser, and then tends to morph into short and slowly flowing gas bubbles. | 20 | Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis-based analysis provides global insights into the cotton ovule and fiber proteomes显示文摘Proteomic analysis of upland cotton was performed to profile the global detectable proteomes of ovules and fibers using two-dimensional electrophoresis(2DE).A total of 1,203 independent protein spots were collected from representative 2DE gels,which were digested with trypsin and identified by matrix-assisted laser desorption and ionization-time-offlight/time-of-flight(MALDI-TOF/TOF)mass spectrometry.The mass spectrometry or tandem mass spectrometry(MS or MS/MS)data were then searched against a local database constructed from Gossypium hirsutum genome sequences,resulting in successful identification of 975 protein spots(411 for ovules and 564 for fibers).Functional annotation analysis of the 975identified proteins revealed that ovule-specific proteins were mainly enriched in functions related to fatty acid elongation,sulfur amino acid metabolism and post-replication repair,while fiber-specific proteins were enriched in functions related to root hair elongation,galactose metabolism and D-xylose metabolic processes.Further annotation analysis of the most abundant protein spots showed that 28.96%of the total proteins in the ovule were mainly located in the Golgi apparatus,endoplasmic reticulum,mitochondrion and ribosome,whereas in fibers,27.02%of the total proteins were located in the cytoskeleton,nuclear envelope and cell wall.Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(q RT-PCR)analyses of the ovule-specific protein spots P61,P93 and P198 and fiber-specific protein spots 230,477 and 511 were performed to validate the proteomics data.Protein-protein interaction network analyses revealed very different network cluster patterns between ovules and fibers.This work provides the largest protein identification dataset of 2DE-detectable proteins in cotton ovules and fibers and indicates potentially important roles of tissue-specific proteins,thus providing insights into the cotton ovule and fiber proteomes on a global scale. | Xiang Jin Limin Wang Liping He Weiqiang Feng Xuchu Wang | 2016 | Science China(Life Sciences)2016,59,2: | 3 |
