| 1 | Preoperative evaluation of colorectal cancer using CT colonography, MRI, and PET/CT显示文摘Imaging studies are a major component in the evaluation of patients for the screening,staging and surveillance of colorectal cancer.This review presents commonly encountered findings in the diagnosis and staging of patients with colorectal cancer using computed tomography(CT)colonography,magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),and positron emission tomography(PET)/CT colonography.CT colonography provides important information for the preoperative assessment of T staging.Wall deformities are associated with muscular or subserosal invasion.Lymph node metastases from colorectal cancer often present with calcifications.CT is superior to detect calcified metastases.Three-dimensional CT to image the vascular anatomy facilitates laparoscopic surgery.T staging of rectal cancer by MRI is an established modality because MRI can diagnose rectal wall laminar structure.N staging in patients with colorectal cancer is still challenging using any imaging modality.MRI is more accurate than CT for the evaluation of liver metastases.PET/CT colonography isvaluable in the evaluation of extra-colonic and hepatic disease.PET/CT colonography is useful for obstructing colorectal cancers that cannot be traversed colonoscopically.PET/CT colonography is able to localize synchronous colon cancers proximal to the obstruction precisely.However,there is no definite evidence to support the routine clinical use of PET/CT colonography. | Shigeyoshi Kijima Takahiro Sasaki Koichi Nagata Kenichi Utano Alan T Lefor Hideharu Sugimoto | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014，20，45： | 46 |
| 2 | Present status of endoscopic mastectomy for breast cancer显示文摘Endoscopy is now being used for breast cancer surgery. Though it is used for mastectomy, lymph node dissection, and breast reconstruction, its prime use is for mastectomy. Because an incision can be placed inconspicuously in the axillary site, a relatively largeincision can be created. A retractor with an endoscope, CO2, and an abrasion device with the endoscope are used for operation space security. It is extremely rare that an endoscope is used for lymph node dissection. For breast reconstruction, it may be used for latissimus muscle flap making, but an endoscope is rarely used for other reconstructions. Endoscopic mastectomy is limited to certain institutions and practiced hands, and it has not been significantly developed in breast cancer surgery. On the other hand, endoscopic surgery may be used widely in breast reconstruction. | 4 | GENERALIZED LANDSCAPE THEORY:AGENT-BASED APPROACH TO ALLIANCE FORMATIONS IN CIVIL AVIATION INDUSTRY显示文摘The purpose of this paper is to generalize Landscape theory proposed by R. Axelrod and, then, to apply it to the civil aviation industry for simulating alliance formations in it. Landscape theory provides a well-known agent-based simulation model for analyzing alliance (or coalition) formation process. When a set N of agents or autonomous decision makers is given, the theory assumes that each agent tries to make a coalition in such a way that the resulting alliance minimizes its frustration. The theory is essentially based on two premises. One is that a propensity is symmetric, i.e., the propensity of agent i toward j is exactly the same as that of j toward i for any agents i and j in N. The other is that the number of alliances is restricted to two, i.e., at any moment N is partitioned into two parties. Though the two basic premises underpin the theory and make the model simple and operational, they do not always reflect alliance formation processes in a realistic way. A generalized Landscape theory that this paper proposes removes them and allows asymmetric propensity and existence of alliances of any number. Since the premises are essential for the model, the generalization requires a drastic reconstruction of the whole idea of the theory. Finally, we analyze a real alliance formation process in the civil aviation industry. | 5 | Liver injury after aluminum potassium sulfate and tannic acid treatment of hemorrhoids显示文摘We are reporting a rare case of acute liver injury that developed after an internal hemorrhoid treatment with the aluminum potassium sulfate and tannic acid(ALTA) regimen. A 41-year-old man developed a fever and liver injury after undergoing internal hemorrhoid treatment with a submucosal injection of ALTA with lidocaine. The acute liver injury was classified clinically as hepatocellular and pathologically as cholestastic. We could not classify the mechanism of injury. High eosinophil and immunoglobulin E levels characterized the injury,and a drug lymphocyte stimulation test was negative on postoperative day 25. Fluid replacement for two weeks after hospitalization improved the liver injury. | 6 | Laterally spreading tumors:Limitations of computed tomography colonography显示文摘AIM:To prospectively investigate the detection rate of laterally spreading tumors(LSTs)of the colorectum by computed tomography(CT)colonography(CTC).METHODS:Patients with LSTs measuring≥20 mm detected during colonoscopy were prospectively enrolled in the study.All patients underwent colonoscopy and subsequent CTC on the same day.CTC was performed using multi-detector CT without contrast in the prone and supine positions.Two radiologists blinded to the existence of LSTs read the virtual endoscopic images as well as 2-D images.LSTs were classified into granular and non-granular types based on colonoscopic appearance.RESULTS:Forty-seven pathologically proven LSTs were evaluated prospectively.Histology included adenomas in 19,mucosal cancers in 19 and T1 cancers in 9.The mean diameter of the LSTs was 35.1 mm.Twenty-eight(60%)LSTs were correctly identified by CTC,and the configuration was similar to the colonoscopic appearance in most cases.Detection rate for the granular type was significantly higher than that for the nongranular type(71%vs 31%,P=0.013).Detection rate of adenomas was significantly lower than mucosal cancers(32%vs 79%,P=0.008)and T1 cancers(32%vs 78%,P=0.042).CONCLUSION:The detection rate of LSTs by CTC,particularly the non-granular type was not acceptable.Practitioners should be aware of the relatively low detection rate when using CTC. | Kazutomo Togashi Kenichi Utano Shigeyoshi Kijima Yosuke Sato Hisanaga Horie Keijirou Sunada Alan T Lefor Hideharu Sugimoto Yoshikazu Yasuda | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014，20，46： | 4 |

| 8 | Sequences Characterization of Microsatellite DNA Sequences in Pacific Abalone(Haliotis discus hannai)显示文摘The microsatellite-enriched library was constructed using magnetic bead hybridization selection method, and the mi-crosatellite DNA sequences were analyzed in Pacific abalone Haliotis discus hannai. Three hundred and fifty white colonies were screened using PCR-based technique, and 84 clones were identified to potentially contain microsatellite repeat motif. The 84 clones were sequenced, and 42 microsatellites and 4 minisatellites with a minimum of five repeats were found (13.1% of white colonies screened). Besides the motif of CA contained in the oligoprobe, we also found other 16 types of microsatellite repeats including a dinucleotide repeat, two tetranucleotide repeats, twelve pentanucleotide repeats and a hexanucleotide repeat. According to Weber (1990), the microsatellite sequences obtained could be categorized structurally into perfect repeats (73.3%), imperfect repeats (13.3%), and compound repeats (13.4%). Among the microsatellite repeats, relatively short arrays (< 20 repeats) were most abundant, accounting for 75.0%. The largest length of microsatellites was 48 repeats, and the average number of repeats was 13.4. | 10 | An AFLP Genetic Linkage Map of Pacific Abalone(Haliotis discus hannai)显示文摘A genetic linkage map of Pacific abalone(Haliotis discus hannai) was constructed using AFLP markers based on a two-way pseudo-testcross strategy in a full-sib family. With 33 primer combinations,a total of 455 markers(225 from the female parent and 230 from the male parent) segregated in a 1:1 ratio,corresponding to DNA polymorphism:heterozygous in one parent and null in the other. The female framework map consisted of 174 markers distributed in 18 linkage groups,equivalent to the H. discus hannai haploid chromosome number,and spanning a total length of 2031.4 cM,with an average interval of 13.0 cM between adjacent markers. The male framework map consisted of 195 markers mapped on 19 linkage groups,spanning a total length of 2273.4 cM,with an average spacing of 12.9 cM between adjacent markers. The estimated coverage for the framework linkage maps was 81.2% for the female and 82.1% for the male,on the basis of two estimates of genome length. Fifty-two markers(11.4%) remained unlinked. The level of segregation distortion observed in this cross was 20.4%. | 12 | Endoscopic submucosal dissection in a patient with esophageal adenoid cystic carcinoma显示文摘We report the first use of endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD) for the treatment of a patient with adenoid cystic carcinoma of the esophagus(EACC). An 82-year-old woman visited our hospital for evaluation of an esophageal submucosal tumor. Endoscopic examination showed a submucosal tumor in the middle third of the esophagus. The lesion partially stained with Lugol's solution,and narrow band imaging with magnification showed intrapapillary capillary loops with mild dilatation and a divergence of caliber in the center of the lesion. Endoscopic ultrasound imaging revealed a solid 8 mm × 4.2 mm tumor,primarily involving the second and third layers of the esophagus. A preoperative biopsy was non-diagnostic. ESD was performed to resect the lesion,an 8 mm submucosal tumor. Immunohistologically,tumor cells differentiating into ductal epithelium and myoepithelium were observed,and the tissue type was adenoid cystic carcinoma. There was no evidence of esophageal wall,vertical stump or horizontal margin invasion with p T1 b-SM2 staining(1800 μm from the muscularis mucosa).
