1Mesenchymal stem cells: Emerging mechanisms of immunomodulation and therapy显示文摘Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs) are a pleiotropic population of cells that are self-renewing and capable of differentiating into canonical cells of the mesenchyme, including adipocytes, chondrocytes, and osteocytes. They employ multi-faceted approaches to maintain bone marrow niche homeostasis and promote wound healing during injury. Biomedical research has long sought to exploit their pleiotropic properties as a basis for cell therapy for a variety of diseases and to facilitate hematopoietic stem cell establishment and stromal reconstruction in bone marrow transplantation. Early results demonstrated their usage as safe, and there was little host response to these cells. The discovery of their immunosuppressive functions ushered in a new interest in MSCs as a promising therapeutic tool to suppress inflammation and down-regulate pathogenic immune responses in graft-versus-host and autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis, autoimmune diabetes, and rheumatoid arthritis. MSCs produce a large number of soluble and membrane-bound factors, some of which inhibit immune responses. However, the full range of MSC-mediated immune-modulation remains incompletely understood, as emerging reports also reveal that MSCs can adopt an immunogenic phenotype, stimulate immune cells, and yield seemingly contradictory results in experimental animal models of inflammatory disease. 2上海地区汉族人群杀伤细胞免疫球蛋白样受体基因多样性及单倍型组合研究显示文摘目的 分析上海地区汉族人群杀伤细胞免疫球蛋白样受体 (killer Ig-like receptors,KIR)基因多态性及单倍型 ,为进一步研究不同人群 KIRs与某些疾病的相关性提供线索。方法 采用序列特异性引物 PCR法对 87名无关汉族健康志愿者进行 KIR基因低分辨率检测和单倍型分析。结果 (1)共检出Xv、KIR1D在内的 18个 KIRs基因。 3 DL 3、2 DL 4、3 DL 2和 3 DL 1存在于所有个体 ;较常见为 2 DL 3、Z、2 DL 1、X;其次为 2 DS4、1D、2 DL 5、2 DS1、3 DS1、2 DS5;2 DS2、2 DL 2、2 DS3、Xv频率较低。 (2 )共检出 13种单倍型 ,最常见的是单倍型 2。 (3 )共检出 18种基因型 ,以 AJ(2 ,2 )、AF(1,2 )型最常见 ,其次为 AH(5,2 )、AI(1,5)和 AG(1,1)。另外有 5种基因型 FZ1(2 ,9或 6,16)、FZ2 (1,16或 2 ,15)、FZ3 (6,17)、FZ4(4,13 )和FZ5(2 ,6) ,目前在白人中尚未发现。结论 上海地区汉族人群有其独特的 KIRs基因频率。张磊 Katharine C.Hsu Xiao-Rong Liu 杨珏琴 姚芳娟 许玲娣 Bo Dupont 范丽安 2003中华医学遗传学杂志2003,20,5:31

6中国部分疾病预防控制机构室内烟草烟雾浓度测定显示文摘目的检测室内工作场所烟草烟雾浓度,评价禁烟政策在降低烟草烟雾暴露中的作用。方法选取10个省市的14个卫生机构的办公楼,调查办公楼内的禁烟规定;用尼古丁作为烟草烟雾的标志物,评估禁烟规定对烟草烟雾暴露的作用。结果14个办公楼中,有4个实行了全面禁烟或部分禁烟规定。有禁烟规定办公楼的办公室的尼古丁浓度80百分位点低于2μg/m3,无禁烟规定办公楼的办公室尼古丁浓度80百分位点为20μg/m3。70%以上的吸烟办公室的尼古丁浓度超过1μg/m3;35%的非吸烟办公室和50%的走廊的尼古丁浓度超过1μg/m3。有1个办公楼在2006年1月1日颁布了禁烟规定,之后其尼古丁浓度大幅度下降:办公室的尼古丁平均值下降到原来的1/4以下,走廊下降到1/8以下。结论工作场所是烟草烟雾暴露的一个重要场所。禁烟或限制吸烟都可以有效降低室内烟草烟雾的暴露。姜垣 李竹 邱五七 常爱玲 李明珠 赵白帆 杨焱 甘泉 Katharine Hammond 胡德伟 2007中国慢性病预防与控制2007,15,2:5
7Pseudomyxoma peritonei显示文摘Pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) is an uncommon 'bor-derline malignancy' generally arising from a perforated appendiceal epithelial tumour. Optimal treatment involves a combination of cytoreductive surgery (CRS) with heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). Controversy persists regarding the pathological classification and its prognostic value. Computed tomography scanning is the optimal preoperative staging technique. Tumour marker elevations correlate with worse prognosis and increased recurrence rates. Following CRS with HIPEC, 5-year survival ranges from 62.5% to 100% for low grade, and 0%-65% for high grade disease. Treat-ment related morbidity and mortality ranges from 12 to 67.6%, and 0 to 9%, respectively. 8Male horseshoe crabs Limulus polyphemus use multiple sensory cues to locate mates显示文摘The use of multisensory cues to locate mates can increase an organism's success by acting as a back-up plan whenone system fails, by providing additional information to the receiver, and by increasing their ability to detect mates using sensesthat have different ranges in a variable aquatic environment. In this contribution we review the sensory cues that male horseshoecrabs Limulus polyphemus are known to use when locating mates and then provide new data that shed light on this subject. Duringthe breeding season, females migrate into shore during high tides to spawn. Males attach to females as they approach thebeach or are attracted to pairs already spawning. Vision is well established as an important cue in attracting males. Althoughchemoreception is well known in other marine arthropods, and horseshoe crabs have the anatomy available, there are few studieson chemical cues in this species. Experiments are presented here that provide evidence for chemical cue use. 9Plasma Heating Induced by Tadpole-like Downflows in the Flaring Solar Corona显示文摘As one of the most spectacular energy release events in the solar system,solar flares are generally powered by magnetic reconnection in the solar corona.As a result of the re-arrangement of magnetic field topology after the reconnection process,a series of new looplike magnetic structures are often formed and are known as flare loops.A hot diffuse region,consisting of around 5–10 MK plasma,is also observed above the loops and is called a supra-arcade fan.Often,dark,tadpole-like structures are seen to descend through the bright supra-arcade fans.It remains unclear what role these so-called supra-arcade downflows(SADs)play in heating the flaring coronal plasma.Here we show a unique flare observation,where many SADs collide with the flare loops and strongly heat the loops to a temperature of 10–20 MK.Several of these interactions generate clear signatures of quasi-periodic enhancement in the full-Sun-integrated soft X-ray emission,providing an alternative interpretation for quasi-periodic pulsations that are commonly observed during solar and stellar flares.Tanmoy Samanta Hui Tian Bin Chen Katharine KReeves Mark C.M.Cheung Angelos Vourlidas Dipankar Banerjee 2021The Innovation2021,2,1:3

14Senescent human hepatocytes express a unique secretory phenotype and promote macrophage migration显示文摘AIM:To develop a model of stress-induced senescence to study the hepatocyte senescence associated secretory phenotype(SASP).METHODS:Hydrogen peroxide treatment was used to induce senescence in the human Hep G2 hepatocyte cell line.Senescence was confirmed by cytochemical staining for a panel of markers including Ki67,p21,heterochromatin protein 1β,and senescence-associated-β-galactosidase activity.Senescent hepatocytes were characterised by gene expression arrays and quantitative polymerase chain reaction(q PCR),and conditioned media was used in proteomic analyses,a human chemokine protein array,and cell migration assays to characterise the composition and function of the hepatocyte SASP.RESULTS:Senescent hepatocytes induced classical markers of senescence(p21,heterochromatin protein1β,and senescence-associated-β-galactosidase activity);and downregulated the proliferation marker,Ki67.Hepatocyte senescence induced a 4.6-fold increase in total secreted protein(P=0.06)without major alterations in the protein profile.Senescence-induced genes were identified by microarray(Benjamini Hochbergcorrected P<0.05);and,consistent with the increase in secreted protein,gene ontology analysis revealed a significant enrichment of secreted proteins among inducible genes.The hepatocyte SASP included characteristic factors such as interleukin(IL)-8 and IL-6,as well as novel components such as SAA4,IL-32and Fibrinogen,which were validated by q PCR and/or chemokine protein array.Senescent hepatocyteconditioned medium elicited migration of inflammatory(granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor,GM-CSF-derived),but not non-inflammatory(CSF-1-derived)human macrophages(P=0.022),which could contribute to a pro-inflammatory microenvironment in vivo,or facilitate the clearance of senescent cells.CONCLUSION:Our novel model of hepatocyte senescence provides insights into mechanisms by which senescent hepatocytes may promote chronic liver disease pathogenesis.Katharine M Irvine Richard Skoien Nilesh J Bokil Michelle Melino Gethin P Thomas Dorothy Loo Brian Gabrielli Michelle M Hill Matthew J Sweet Andrew D Clouston Elizabeth E Powell 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,47:2
