1LICOM Model Datasets for the CMIP6 Ocean Model Intercomparison Project显示文摘The datasets of two Ocean Model Intercomparison Project(OMIP)simulation experiments from the LASG/IAP Climate Ocean Model,version 3(LICOM3),forced by two different sets of atmospheric surface data,are described in this paper.The experiment forced by CORE-II(Co-ordinated Ocean–Ice Reference Experiments,Phase II)data(1948–2009)is called OMIP1,and that forced by JRA55-do(surface dataset for driving ocean–sea-ice models based on Japanese 55-year atmospheric reanalysis)data(1958–2018)is called OMIP2.First,the improvement of LICOM from CMIP5 to CMIP6 and the configurations of the two experiments are described.Second,the basic performances of the two experiments are validated using the climatological-mean and interannual time scales from observation.We find that the mean states,interannual variabilities,and long-term linear trends can be reproduced well by the two experiments.The differences between the two datasets are also discussed.Finally,the usage of these data is described.These datasets are helpful toward understanding the origin system bias of the fully coupled model.Pengfei LIN Zhipeng YU Hailong LIU Yongqiang YU Yiwen LI Jirong JIANG Wei XUE Kangjun CHEN Qian YANG Bowen ZHAO Jilin WEI Mengrong DING Zhikuo SUN Yaqi WANG Yao MENG Weipeng ZHENG Jinfeng MA 2020Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,3:9
2Real-time collision dynamics of vector solitons in a fiber laser显示文摘Particle-like structures of solitons, as a result of the balance between dispersion and nonlinearity, enable remarkable elastic and inelastic soliton collisions in many fields. Despite the experimental observation of temporal vector-soliton collisions in birefringent fibers, collision dynamics of vector solitons in fiber lasers have not been revealed before, to the best of our knowledge. Here, the real-time spectral evolutions of vector solitons during collisions in a dual-comb fiber laser, which generates vector solitons with slightly different repetition rates, are captured by a time-stretch dispersive Fourier transform technique. We record the whole process of vector-soliton collisions, including the formation of weak pulses induced by cross-polarization coupling, opposite central wavelength shifts of both vector solitons, distinct intensity redistribution and dissipative energy, and gradual recovery to initial states. Furthermore, extreme collisions with strong four-wave mixing sidebands are observed by virtue of coherent coupling between the orthogonal polarization components of vector solitons. Numerical simulations match well with the experimental observations. The experimental and numerical evidences of vector-soliton collision dynamics could give insight into the understanding of nonlinear dynamics in fiber lasers and other physical systems, as well as the improvement of laser performance for application in dual-comb spectroscopy.Kangjun Zhao Chenxin Gao Xiaosheng Xiao Changxi Yang 2021Photonics Research2021,9,3:4

4Cracking the superheavy pyrite enigma:possible roles of volatile organosulfur compound emission显示文摘The global deposition of superheavy pyrite(pyrite isotopically heavier than coeval seawater sulfate in the Neoproterozoic Era and particularly in the Cryogenian Period)defies explanation using the canonical marine sulfur cycle system.Here we report petrographic and sulfur isotopic data(δ^(34)Spy)of superheavy pyrite from the Cryogenian Datangpo Formation(660–650 Ma)in South China.Our data indicate a syndepositional/early diagenetic origin of the Datangpo superheavy pyrite,with ^(34)S-enriched H_(2)S supplied from sulfidic(H_(2)S rich)seawater.Instructed by a novel sulfur-cycling model,we propose that the emission of ^(34)S-depleted volatile organosulfur compounds(VOSC)that were generated via sulfide methylation may have contributed to the formation of ^(34)S-enriched sulfidic seawater and superheavy pyrite.The global emission of VOSC may be attributed to enhanced organic matter production after the Sturtian glaciation in the context of widespread sulfidic conditions.These findings demonstrate that VOSC cycling is an important component of the sulfur cycle in Proterozoic oceans.Xianguo Lang Zhouqiao Zhao Haoran Ma Kangjun Huang Songzhuo Li Chuanming Zhou Shuhai Xiao Yongbo Peng Yonggang Liu Wenbo Tang Bing Shen 2021National Science Review2021,8,10:2
5Energy-saving strategy for a transport bed flash calcination process applied to magnesite显示文摘A transport bed flash calcination(TBFC)process applied to magnesite is systematically investigated through process simulation to optimize the energy-saving strategy.The high-temperature calciner flue gas is used to preheat the fed magnesite,while the sensible heat with the caustic calcined magnesia(CCM)product is cooled by air sent to the calciner.Pre-decomposition of magnesite during preheating is considered on basis of the kinetics measured using a micro fluidized bed reaction analyzer that allows the minimized effect of external diffusion on reaction.With staged fuel gas supply the TBFC process allows the equivalence ratios around 1.2 for combustion.The preferred arrangement of stages for magnesite preheating and CCM cooling are respectively 4 and 2,leading to the energy consumption of 4100 kJ/kg-CCM and the energy efficiency of 66.8%,which is almost doubly higher than the 33.9%of the conventional reverberatory furnaces(RF).The pre-decomposition occurs mainly in the 1st-stage preheater,and the maximal conversion is about 13%.Varying the stages of preheating appears more influential on the energy saving than varying the cooling stages,while residence time above 1 s in the preheaters has limited effect.Ping An Zhennan Han Kangjun Wang Jiguang Cheng Zhongkai Zhao Yohanes Andre Situmorang Jenny Rizkiana Abuliti Abudula Guoqing Guan 2021Carbon Resources Conversion2021,4,1:1
6Eddy-resolving Simulation of CAS-LICOM3 for Phase 2 of the Ocean Model Intercomparison Project显示文摘A 61-year(1958–2018)global eddy-resolving dataset for phase 2 of the Ocean Model Intercomparison Project has been produced by the version 3 of Chinese Academy of Science,the State Key Laboratory of Numerical Modeling for Atmospheric Sciences and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics/Institute of Atmospheric Physics(LASG/IAP)Climate system Ocean Model(CAS-LICOM3).The monthly and a part of the surface daily data in this study can be accessed on the Earth System Grid Federation(ESGF)node.Besides the details of the model and experiments,the evolutions and spatial patterns of large-scale and mesoscale features are also presented.The mesoscale features are reproduced well in the high-resolution simulation,as the mesoscale activities can contribute up to 50%of the total SST variability in eddy-rich regions.Also,the large-scale circulations are remarkably improved compared with the low-resolution simulation,such as the climatological annual mean SST(the RMSE is reduced from 0.59°C to 0.47°C,globally)and the evolution of Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation.The preliminary evaluation also indicates that there are systematic biases in the salinity,the separation location of the western boundary currents,and the magnitude of eddy kinetic energy.All these biases are worthy of further investigation.Yiwen LI Hailong LIU Mengrong DING Pengfei LIN Zipeng YU Yongqiang YU Yao MENG Yunlong LI Xiaodong JIAN Jinrong JIANG Kangjun CHEN Qian YANG Yaqi WANG Bowen ZHAO Jilin WEI Jinfeng MA Weipeng ZHENG and Pengfei WANG 2020Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,10:1

9Datasets for the CMIP6 Scenario Model Intercomparison Project (ScenarioMIP) Simulations with the Coupled Model CAS FGOALS-f3-L显示文摘The datasets for the tier-1 Scenario Model Intercomparison Project(ScenarioMIP)experiments from the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS)Flexible Global Ocean-Atmosphere-Land System model,finite-volume version 3(CAS FGOALS-f3-L)are described in this study.ScenarioMIP is one of the core MIP experiments in phase 6 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP6).Considering future CO2,CH4,N2O and other gases’concentrations,as well as land use,the design of ScenarioMIP involves eight pathways,including two tiers(tier-1 and tier-2)of priority.Tier-1 includes four combined Shared Socioeconomic Pathways(SSPs)with radiative forcing,i.e.,SSP1-2.6,SSP2-4.5,SSP3-7.0 and SSP5-8.5,in which the globally averaged radiative forcing at the top of the atmosphere around the year 2100 is approximately 2.6,4.5,7.0 and 8.5 W m−2,respectively.This study provides an introduction to the ScenarioMIP datasets of this model,such as their storage location,sizes,variables,etc.Preliminary analysis indicates that surface air temperatures will increase by about 1.89℃,3.07℃,4.06℃ and 5.17℃ by around 2100 under these four scenarios,respectively.Meanwhile,some other key climate variables,such as sea-ice extension,precipitation,heat content,and sea level rise,also show significant long-term trends associated with the radiative forcing increases.These datasets will help us understand how the climate will change under different anthropogenic and radiative forcings.Shuwen ZHAO Yongqiang YU Pengfei LIN Hailong LIU Bian HE Qing BAO Yuyang GUO Lijuan HUA Kangjun CHEN Xiaowei WANG 2021Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2021,38,2:0

11CAS FGOALS-f3-L Model Datasets for CMIP6 DCPP Experiment显示文摘The outputs of the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS)Flexible Global Ocean-Atmosphere-Land System(FGOALSf3-L)model for the decadal climate prediction project(DCPP)of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6(CMIP6)are described in this paper.The FGOALS-f3-L was initialized through the upgraded,weakly coupled data assimilation scheme,referred to as EnOI-IAU,which assimilates observational anomalies of sea surface temperature(SST)and upper-level(0–1000-m)ocean temperature and salinity profiles into the coupled model.Then,nine ensemble members of 10-year hindcast/forecast experiments were conducted for each initial year over the period of 1960–2021,based on initial conditions produced by three initialization experiments.The hindcast and forecast experiments follow the experiment designs of the Component-A and Component-B of the DCPP,respectively.The decadal prediction output datasets contain a total of 44 monthly mean atmospheric and oceanic variables.The preliminary evaluation indicates that the hindcast experiments show significant predictive skill for the interannual variations of SST in the north Pacific and multi-year variations of SST in the subtropical Pacific and the southern Indian Ocean.Shuai HU Bo WU Yiming WANG Tianjun ZHOU Yongqiang YU Bian HE Pengfei LIN Qing BAO Hailong LIU Kangjun CHEN Shuwen ZHAO 2023Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2023,40,10:0
