| 1 | Perfecting and extending the near-infrared imaging window显示文摘In vivo fluorescence imaging in the second near-infrared window(NIR-II)has been considered as a promising technique for visualizing mammals.However,the definition of the NIR-II region and the mechanism accounting for the excellent performance still need to be perfected.Herein,we simulate the photon propagation in the NIR region(to 2340 nm),confirm the positive contribution of moderate light absorption by water in intravital imaging and perfect the NIR-II window as 900–1880 nm,where 1400–1500 and 1700–1880 nm are defined as NIR-IIx and NIR-IIc regions,respectively.Moreover,2080–2340 nm is newly proposed as the third near-infrared(NIR-III)window,which is believed to provide the best imaging quality.The wide-field fluorescence microscopy in the brain is performed around the NIRIIx region,with excellent optical sectioning strength and the largest imaging depth of intravital NIR-II fluorescence microscopy to date.We also propose 1400 nm long-pass detection in off-peak NIR-II imaging whose performance exceeds that of NIR-IIb imaging,using bright fluorophores with short emission wavelength. | Zhe Feng Tao Tang Tianxiang Wu Xiaoming Yu Yuhuang Zhang Meng Wang Junyan Zheng Yanyun Ying Siyi Chen Jing Zhou Xiaoxiao Fan Dan Zhang Shengliang Li Mingxi Zhang Jun Qian | 2021 | Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,10: | 4 |
| 2 | A 6.2–9.5 GHz receiver for Wimedia MB-OFDM and China UWB standard显示文摘An integrated 6.2–9.5 GHz UWB receiver for both WiMedia MB-OFDM and China UWB standard is proposed. The receiver can cover Group#3, Group#4 for WiMedia and Group#2–5 for China UWB standard respectively. The fully differential receiver consists of a wideband LNA and a down conversion mixer with high gain and low gain mode. A low-pass filter with controllable gain and cut-o? frequency along with a programmable gain amplifier are also included. The chip was fabricated in TSMC 0.13-μm RF CMOS process. Measurement results show that the receiver achieves voltage gain from 21 to 69 dB with 2 dB/step and an NF of 3.2–4.6 dB over 6.2–9.5 GHz and 1-dB compression point of ?21 dBm. The intermediate frequency of the receiver can be switched between 264 and 132 MHz, which enables the receiver applicable for both WiMedia and China UWB standard. | 4 | Recent developments in asphalt-aggregate separation technology for reclaimed asphalt pavement显示文摘Reclaimed asphalt pavement(RAP)has significant recycling value because it contains nonrenewable resources including asphalt and aggregate.However,thus far,only a small part of RAP materials can be used in the con-struction of recycled asphalt pavement,and the usage is regarded as a low-value utilization in the underlying layers.One of the most important reasons for this shortcoming is the problem of false particle size and pseudo gradation of RAP materials.Therefore,identifying suitable asphalt-aggregate separation technology is essential for improving the utilization of RAP materials in recycled asphalt mixture and enhancing the construction quality of recycled asphalt pavement.To address this,the paper performed a systematic review of asphalt-aggregate separation technologies for processing RAP materials and their prospects.Firstly,based on the composition of the asphalt mixture and the characteristics of RAP materials after aging,the key RAP separation technologies were proposed.Then,the concept,principle,and implementation methods of physical,chemical,and biological sep-aration methods of RAP materials were comprehensively analyzed.Moreover,the advantages and disadvantages of various separation technologies were discussed by comparing them with the related technologies in the petrochemical industry.The application prospects of various asphalt-aggregate separation methods for RAP materials can provide a reference for upgrading and expanding solid waste recycling technology for asphalt pavement. | Decheng Feng Jiwei Cao Libo Gao Junyan Yi | 2022 | Journal of Road Engineering2022,2,4: | 1 |
| 5 | Clinical characteristics and survival analysis of colorectal cancer in China:a retrospective cohort study with 13,328 patients from southern China显示文摘Background:Colorectal cancer(CRC)is one of the most common cancers in China.However,detailed clinical characteristics and survival information are limited.This study aimed to investigate the potential epidemiological and clinical risk factors affecting the survival of CRC patients in southern China.Methods:Patients with primary CRC between 1994 and 2019 at the First and the Sixth Affiliated Hospitals of Sun Yat-sen University(Guangzhou,China)were included.Clinical characteristics and survival outcomes were collected from medical records.The Kaplan–Meier method was used to estimate overall survival(OS)and progression-free survival(PFS),and Cox’s proportional-hazards regression model was used to estimate hazard ratios and 95%confidence intervals.Results:Of all 13,328 patients,60.1%were men;the mean age was 61.3 years;53.5%had colon cancer.Among all patients,1,864(14.0%)were diagnosed with stage IV disease.The 3-and 5-year OS rates were 79.90%and 71.50%,respectively,whereas the 3-and 5-year PFS rates were 70.30%and 63.90%,respectively.The median OS and PFS times were 189 and 149 months,respectively.Among 13,328 patients,428(14.0%)patients with poor/undifferentiated cancer suffered recurrence.In patients with stageⅢand stageⅣdiseases,the median PFS times of the patients who received chemotherapy were significantly longer than those in patients who had not received chemotherapy(stageⅢ:147 vs 62 months,P<0.001;stageⅣ:14 vs 9.5 months,P<0.001).Conclusions:This retrospective cohort study illustrates the current status of the clinical characteristics of patients with CRC in southern China.Sex,age,family history,location of cancer occurrence,differentiation status,T status,N status,M status,clinical stage,operation,and surgical margin are independent factors associated with the OS of CRC patients. | Lekun Fang Ziqing Yang Mingliang Zhang Manqi Meng Junyan Feng Chuangqi Chen | 2021 | Gastroenterology Report2021,9,6: | 1 |

| 9 | Synthesis of MgO-doped ordered mesoporous carbons by Mg^(2+)-tannin coordination for efficient isomerization of glucose to fructose显示文摘In-situ MgO-doped ordered mesoporous carbon(OMC@MgO)was fabricated by formaldehyde-free self-assembly method,in which biomass-derived tannin was used as carbon precursor replacing fossil-based phenolics,Mg^(2+)as both cross-linker and precursor of catalytic sites.Up to~20 wt% MgO could be doped in the carbon skeleton with good dispersion retaining well-ordered mesoporous structures,while more MgO content(35 wt%)led to the failing in the formation of ordered mesoporous structure.The OMC@MgO possessed a high specific surface area(298.8 m^(2) g^(-1)),uniform pore size distribution(4.8 nm)and small crystallite size of MgO(1.73 nm)due to the confinement effect of ordered mesoporous structure.Using OMC@MgO as the heterogeneous catalyst,a maximum fructose yield of 32.4% with a selectivity up to 81.1%was achieved from glucose in water(90℃,60 min),which is much higher than that obtained using the MgO doped active carbon via conventional post-impregnation method(26.5%yield with 58.3% selectivity).Higher reaction temperature(>90℃)resulted in decrease of selectivity due to the formation of humins.The designed OMC@MgO displayed tolerant to high initial glucose concentrations(10 wt%)and could remain good recyclability without significant loss of activity for three cycles. | Junyan Fu Feng Shen Xiaoning Liu Xinhua Qi | 2023 | Green Energy & Environment2023,8,3: | 0 |

| 11 | Existing tests vs. novel non-invasive assays for detection of invasive aspergillosis in patients with respiratory diseases显示文摘Background: Although existing mycological tests (bronchoalveolar lavage [BAL] galactomannan [GM], serum GM, serum (1,3)-β-D-glucan [BDG], and fungal culture) are widely used for diagnosing invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA) in non-hematological patients with respiratory diseases, their clinical utility in this large population is actually unclear. We aimed to resolve this clinical uncertainty by evaluating the diagnostic accuracy and utility of existing tests and explore the efficacy of novel sputum-basedAspergillus assays.Methods: Existing tests were assessed in a prospective and consecutive cohort of patients with respiratory diseases in West China Hospital between 2016 and 2019 while novel sputum assays (especially sputum GM andAspergillus-specific lateral-flow device [LFD]) in a case-controlled subcohort. IPA was defined according to the modified European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer/Mycoses Study Group criteria. Sensitivity and specificity were computed for each test and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was performed.Results: The entire cohort included 3530 admissions (proven/probable IPA=66, no IPA=3464) and the subcohort included 127 admissions (proven/probable IPA=38, no IPA=89). Sensitivity of BAL GM (≥1.0 optical density index [ODI]: 86% [24/28]) was substantially higher than that of serum GM (≥0.5 ODI: 38% [39/102]) (χ^(2)=19.83,P<0.001), serum BDG (≥70 pg/mL: 33% [31/95]) (χ^(2)=24.65,P<0.001), and fungal culture (33% [84/253]) (χ^(2)=29.38,P<0.001). Specificity varied between BAL GM (≥1.0 ODI: 94% [377/402]), serum GM (≥0.5 ODI: 95% [2130/2248]), BDG (89% [1878/2106]), and culture (98% [4936/5055]). Sputum GM (≥2.0 ODI) had similar sensitivity (84% [32/38]) (Fisher’s exactP=1.000) to and slightly lower specificity (87% [77/89]) (χ^(2)=5.52,P=0.019) than BAL GM (≥1.0 ODI). Area under the ROC curve values were comparable between sputum GM (0.883 [0.812-0.953]) and BAL GM (0.901 [0.824-0.977]) (P=0.734). Sputum LFD had similar specificity (91% [81/89]) (χ^(2)=0.89,P=0.345) to and lower sensitivity (63% [24/38]) (χ^(2)=4.14,P=0.042) than BAL GM (≥1.0 ODI), but significantly higher sensitivity than serum GM (≥0.5 ODI) (χ^(2)=6.95,P=0.008), BDG (χ^(2)=10.43,P=0.001), and fungal culture (χ^(2)=12.70,P<0.001).Conclusions: Serum GM, serum BDG, and fungal culture lack sufficient sensitivity for diagnosing IPA in respiratory patients. | 12 | Vitamin A deficiency suppresses CEACAM1 to impair colonic epithelial barrier function via downregulating microbial-derived short-chain fatty acids显示文摘Vitamin A (VA) plays an essential role in modulating both the gut microbiota and gut barrier function.Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs),as metabolites of the gut microbiota,protect the physiological intestinal barrier;however,they are compromised when VA is deficient.Thus,there is an urgent need to understand how and which SCFAs modulate colonic epithelial barrier integrity in VA deficiency (VAD).Herein,compared with normal VA rats (VAN),at the beginning of pregnancy,we confirmed that the colonic desmosome junction was impaired in the VAD group,and the amounts of acetate,propionate,and butyrate declined because of the decreased abundance of SCFA-producing bacteria (Romboutsia ,Collinsella ,and Allobaculum ).The differentially expressed genes correlated with the gut barrier and the histone deacetylase complex between the VAD and VAN groups were enriched by RNA sequencing.In the VAD group,the expression levels of colonic CEA cell adhesion molecule 1 (CEACAM1) were down-regulated,and the levels of histone deacetylase 1 (HDAC1) and HDAC3 were up-regulated.Intriguingly,the above changes in the VAD groups were rescued by VA supplementation in the early postnatal period.Further study indicated that in Caco-2 cells,butyrate treatment significantly repressed the enrichment of HDAC3 on the promoter of the CEACAM1 gene to induce its expression.Our findings support that butyrate intervention can alleviate the impairment of colonic barrier function caused by VAD,and timely postnatal VA intervention may reverse the damage caused by VAD on gut barrier integrity during pregnancy. | Junyan Yan Lu Xiao Di Feng Baolin Chen Ting Yang Bei Tong Ruifang Luo Yuting Wang Jie Chen | 2024 | Genes & Diseases2024,11,2: | 0 |
