| 1 | Genome Characteristics and Evolution of Pseudorabies Virus Strains in Eastern China from 2017 to 2019显示文摘Since late 2011,outbreaks of pseudorabies virus(PRV)have occurred in southern China causing major economic losses to the pig industry.We previously reported that variant PRV forms and recombination in China could be the source of continued epidemics.Here,we analyzed samples from intensive pig farms in eastern China between 2017 and 2019,and sequenced the main glycoproteins(gB,gC,gD,and gE)to study the evolution characteristics of PRV.Based on the gC gene,we found that PRV variants belong to clade 2 and detected a founder effect during by the PRV epidemic.In addition,we detected inter-and intra-clade recombination;in particular,inter-clade recombination in the gB genes of strains FJ-ZXF and FJ-W2,which were recombinant with clade 1 strains.We also found specific amino-acid changes and positively selected sites,possibly associated with functional changes.This analysis of the emergence of PRV in China illustrates the need for continuous monitoring and the development of vaccines against specific variants of PRV. | Xiaofeng Zhai Wen Zhao Kemang Li Cheng Zhang Congcong Wang Shuo Su Jiyong Zhou Jing Lei Gang Xing Haifeng Sun Zhiyu Shi Jinyan Gu | 2019 | Virologica Sinica2019,34,6: | 12 |
| 2 | Comparative Genome Analysis of Scutellaria baicalensis and Scutellaria barbata Reveals the Evolution of Active Flavonoid Biosynthesis显示文摘Scutellaria baicalensis(S.baicalensis)and Scutellaria barbata(S.barbata)are common medicinal plants of the Lamiaceae family.Both produce specific flavonoid compounds,including baicalein,scutellarein,norwogonin,and wogonin,as well as their glycosides,which exhibit antioxidant and antitumor activities.Here,we report chromosome-level genome assemblies of S.baicalensis and S.barbata with quantitative chromosomal variation(2 n=18 and 2 n=26,respectively).The divergence of S.baicalensis and S.barbata occurred far earlier than previously reported,and a whole-genome duplication(WGD)event was identified.The insertion of long terminal repeat elements after speciation might be responsible for the observed chromosomal expansion and rearrangement.Comparative genome analysis of the congeneric species revealed the species-specific evolution of chrysin and apigenin biosynthetic genes,such as the S.baicalensis-specific tandem duplication of genes encoding phenylalanine ammonia lyase and chalcone synthase,and the S.barbata-specific duplication of genes encoding 4-Co A ligase.In addition,the paralogous duplication,colinearity,and expression diversity of CYP82 D subfamily members revealed the functional divergence of genes encoding flavone hydroxylase between S.baicalensis and S.barbata.Analyzing these Scutellaria genomes reveals the common and species-specific evolution of flavone biosynthetic genes.Thus,these findings would facilitate the development of molecular breeding and studies of biosynthesis and regulation of bioactive compounds. | Zhichao Xu Ranran Gao Xiangdong Pu Rong Xu Jiyong Wang Sihao Zheng Yan Zeng Jun Chen Chunnian He Jingyuan Song | 2020 | Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2020,18,3: | 10 |
| 3 | Applicability of five models to simulate water infiltration into soil with added biochar显示文摘As a soil amendment, biochar can reduce soil bulk density, increase soil porosity, and alter soil aggregates and thus affect the infiltration. Researchers have proposed and revised several theoretical models to describe the process of soil infiltration. Although these models have been successfully used to evaluate the soil infiltration in different scenarios in agricultural fields, little effort has been devoted to assess their performances in arid and semi-arid soils after the addition of biochar. A laboratory experiment was performed to study the infiltration characteristics of two typical Loess Plateau soils at three particle sizes(2–1, 1–0.25, and <0.25 mm) and five biochar application amounts(0, 10, 50, 100, and 150 g/kg). The performance of five models(i.e., the Philip model, Kostiakov model, Mezencev model, USDA-NRCS model, and Horton model) in simulating the infiltration process was then evaluated based on the adjusted coefficient of determination and a reduced Chi-Square test. Results indicated that the Horton model best simulated the water-infiltration process in an aeolian sandy soil with added biochar. However, the Mezencev model best simulated the infiltration process in a loamy clay soil(Eum-Orthic Anthrosol). The three-parameter model, i.e., Mezencev and Horton models can better describe the relationship between cumulative infiltration and infiltration time. | 7 | Saturable plasmonic metasurfaces for laser mode locking显示文摘Metamaterials are artificial materials made of subwavelength elementary cells that give rise to unexpected wave properties that do not exist naturally.However,these properties are generally achieved due to 3D patterning,which is hardly feasible at short wavelengths in the visible and near-infrared regions targeted by most photonic applications.To overcome this limitation,metasurfaces,which are the 2D counterparts of metamaterials,have emerged as promising platforms that are compatible with planar nanotechnologies and thus mass production,which platforms the properties of a metamaterial into a 2D sheet.In the linear regime,wavefront manipulation for lensing,holography,and polarization control has been achieved recently.Interest in metasurfaces operating in the nonlinear regime has also increased due to the ability of metasurfaces to efficiently convert incident light into harmonic frequencies with unusual polarization properties.However,to date,the nonlinear absorption of metasurfaces has been mostly ignored.Here,we demonstrate that plasmonic metasurfaces behave as saturable absorbers with modulation performances superior to the modulation performance of other 2D materials and exhibit unusual polarimetric nonlinear transfer functions.We quantify the link between saturable absorption,the plasmonic resonances of the unit cell and their distribution in a 2D metasurface,and finally provide a practical implementation by integrating the metasurfaces into a fiber laser cavity operating in pulsed regimes driven by the metasurface properties.As such,this work provides new perspectives on ultrathin nonlinear saturable absorbers for applications where tunable nonlinear transfer functions are needed,such as in ultrafast lasers or neuromorphic circuits. | Jiyong Wang Aurelien Coillet Olivier Demichel Zhiqiang Wang Davi Rego Alexandre Bouhelier Philippe Grelu Benoit Cluzel | 2020 | Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1: | 3 |

| 19 | Reservoir Characteristics of Fine-grained Sedimentary Rocks in Saline Lakes in the Cenozoic Upper Ganchaigou Formation,Southwestern Qaidam Basin,NW China显示文摘Cenozoic fine-grained sedimentary rocks in the southwestern Qaidam Basin,as typical salinized lacustrine sediments,are significantly different from those in other freshwater lakes under the impact of the high salinity in the lake.Many fine-grained sedimentary rock samples were selected from the lower member of Neogene(N_(1))in the Gaskule Oilfield,Qaidam Basin,northwest China,with the aim to analyze and test their petrology,pore structure,and organic geochemical characteristics and determine its genesis and geological significance.Based on previous results,a new genesis of mixed sedimentary rocks is proposed.The Cenozoic lacustrine fine-grained sedimentary rocks in SW Qaidam Basin belong to mixed sedimentary rocks,which can be divided into three types,including carbonate and terrigenous clastic-bearing mudstone,carbonate-bearing to terrigenous clastic mixed sedimentary rocks,and carbonate-terrigenous clastic mixed sedimentary rocks.The geneses of mixing are quite different from that of mixed marine rocks.According to the sedimentary characteristics of the salinized lakes,three new geneses of mixed deposits are proposed:syn-sedimentary mixing,varve interbedded mixing,and biogenic mixing.The reservoir spaces of the Cenozoic lacustrine fine-grained sedimentary rocks in SW Qaidam Basin include residual intergranular pores,intercrystalline pores,microfractures,and minor dissolved pores.The reservoirs have super-low porosity and ultra-low permeability,with a porosity of 1.82%-21.04%,averaging 7.71%,and permeability of(0.0028-254.86)×10^(−3)μm^(2),averaging 2.82×10^(−3)μm^(2).The test results of total organic carbon(TOC)content show that the highest content of organic carbon reached 1.41%,and those of vitrinite reflectance show that Ro ranges from 0.525%-0.824%,with an average of 0.806%.The organic geochemical characteristics show that the fine-grained mixed sedimentary rocks of SW Qaidam Basin have the potential for self-generation and self-storage.As an unconventional reservoir,it has potential industrial value.This is the first study of fine-grained sedimentary rocks in the Qaidam Basin,which offers certain theoretical and practical values. | SHENG Jun LIU Jincheng LI Yunlong ZOU Haiyan LONG Anlin WANG Lin LI Jiyong QI Qingshan YANG Xiaojing LI Yanan | 2022 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2022,96,3: | 1 |
| 20 | Expression for peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma in pituitary adenomas 38 cases for semi-quantitative immunohistochemical analysis显示文摘BACKGROUND: It has been reported that peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ(PPARγ) is highly expressed in lung cancer, colon cancer, and gastric cancer, as well as other tumors. OBJECTIVE: To study expression of PPARγin pituitary adenomas and analyze the role of PPARγin hormonal typing of pituitary adenomas. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: Semi-quantitative immunohistochemistry of pathological specimens. The experiment was conducted at the Department of Neurosurgery, Wuxi Second Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University between January 2002 and May 2005. MATERIALS: Surgical resection samples of pituitary adenomas from 38 cases (18 male and 20 female) were analyzed. Eight cases were determined to be invasive pituitary adenomas and 30 cases were non-invasive pituitary adenomas. Hormonal classification of the types of pituitary adenomas revealed somatotrophic adenomas in six cases, corticotrophic adenoma in five cases, prolactinomas in 13 cases, multi-hormone secreting adenomas in six cases, and eight cases of adenoma without altered endocrine function. Five autopsy specimens were collected during the same period from patients of matching age that died from unrelated diseases and were included as normal anterior pituitary controls. METHODS: Cell counts for positive immunohistochemical signals were recorded from histopathological sections. The percentage of positive cells was reported as a semi-quantitative analysis. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The rate of PPARγpositive cells in different types of adenoma was based on hormonal levels and invasiveness of pituitary tumor cells. RESULTS: All tumor biopsies were determined to express PPARγ The rate of PPARγ-positive cells ranged between 8%-65% in the pituitary adenomas. According to hormonal type, PPARγexpression did not vary between the groups. In addition, there was no significant difference in PPARγexpression between the non-invasive and invasive pituitary adenomas.
