| 1 | Groundwater arsenic removal by coagulation using ferric(Ⅲ)sulfate and polyferric sulfate: A comparative and mechanistic study显示文摘Elevated arsenic(As) in groundwater poses a great threat to human health. Coagulation using mono- and poly-Fe salts is becoming one of the most cost-effective processes for groundwater As removal. However, a limitation comes from insufficient understanding of the As removal mechanism from groundwater matrices in the coagulation process, which is critical for groundwater treatment and residual solid disposal. Here, we overcame this hurdle by utilizing microscopic techniques to explore molecular As surface complexes on the freshly formed Fe flocs and compared ferric(III) sulfate(FS) and polyferric sulfate(PFS)performance, and finally provided a practical solution in As-geogenic areas. FS and PFS exhibited a similar As removal efficiency in coagulation and coagulation/filtration in a two-bucket system using 5 mg/L Ca(ClO)_2. By using the two-bucket system combining coagulation and sand filtration, 500 L of As-safe water(< 10 μg/L) was achieved during five treatment cycles by washing the sand layer after each cycle. Fe k-edge X-ray absorption near-edge structure(XANES) and As k-edge extended X-ray absorption fine structure(EXAFS) analysis of the solid residue indicated that As formed a bidentate binuclear complex on ferrihydrite, with no observation of scorodite or poorly-crystalline ferric arsenate. Such a stable surface complex is beneficial for As immobilization in the solid residue, as confirmed by the achievement of much lower leachate As(0.9 μg/L–0.487 mg/L)than the US EPA regulatory limit(5 mg/L). | 3 | Effects of NaCl stress on the biochemical substances in Bt cotton as well as on the growth and development and adult oviposition selectivity of Helicoverpa armigera显示文摘Background:Recently,due to the development of food security strategies,cotton has been planted in inland saline-alkali dry soils or in coastal some saline-alkali soils in China.Under the condition,to comprehensively prevent and control Helicoverpa armigera in cotton fields with saline-alkali soils,it is important to study the larval growth and development of H.armigero and to study adult oviposition selectivity in H.armigera adults that feed on NaCI-stNaCled cotton plants.Results:In this study,Bt cotton GK19 was used for the experimental group and its nontransgenic parent Simian 3 was used for the control to study the effects of biochemical substances in cotton as well as larval growth and development and adult oviposition selectivity of H.armigera.The experiments were performed by growing cotton indoors under NaCl stress at concentrations of 0 mmol-L-1,75 mmol-L-1 and 150 mmol-L-1,respectively.The results showed that the expression of Bt protein was significantly inhibited for NaCI-stressed Bt cotNaClThe content of soluble protein and K+ in the leaves of cotton were decreased,while the content of gossypol and Na+were increased.In addition,the 5th instar H.armigera larvae exhibited shorten the life span in a 13-day trial period.Under enclosure treatments and at different female densities,the adult oviposition of H.armigera decreased on high NaCI-stressed nontransgenic coNaCl,while the oviposition on Bt cotton tended to first increase but then decrease under low,moderate and high NaCl stress treatments.Conclusions:Under certain content ranges of NaCl stress treatments,larval of H.armigera growth and development,and adult oviposition were no significant difference in the change for a certain period.However,under high NaCl stress,larval growth,development and adult oviposition were affected,which may provide insights for the prevention and control of H.armigero for Bt cotton in saline-alkali soils. | LUO Junyu ZHANG Shuai ZHU Xiangzhen JI Jichao ZHANG Kaixin WANG Chunyi ZHANG Lijuan WANG Li CUI Jinlie | 2019 | Journal of Cotton Research2019,2,1: | 1 |

| 16 | Study on Top Grafting Technology of Bare Scions of Walnut Trees in Eastern Hebei显示文摘[Objectives]To accelerate the improvement of walnut varieties and change the cultivation status of low yield and poor quality.[Methods]Through experimenting on the optimization technology of walnut trees,this paper studied the suitable top grafting period and scientific top grafting protection measures of walnut trees in Eastern Hebei,and established the top grafting technology system of walnut.Moreover,this paper explored the impact of different time and scientific management and protection measures on the survival rate and growth of bare scion top grafting of walnut trees.[Results]The grafting time had a great impact on the growth of new shoots,and there were significant differences in the survival rate among different grafting periods.The highest grafting survival rate was 96.97%on April 27 and the lowest grafting survival rate was 66.67%on May 4;the average survival rate was 78.10%.Among them,the survival rate of top grafting was the highest on April 20 and April 27.The growth of new shoots grafted in the early stage was greater than that in the late stage.The growth of new shoots and branches on April 8 and April 20 were the largest,with lengths of 160.3 and 143.7 cm;the thickness was 1.72 and 1.43 cm;the branch lengths were 79.8 and 63.4 cm;the branch thickness was 0.98 and 0.82 cm;the growth index was also the highest on April 8 and April 20 at 10,20,30 d after grafting,which was significantly different from other time periods.[Conclusions]Walnut trees with early grafting in Eastern Hebei can quickly restore their crown growth and had higher yield,thus this technology can be widely applied in Eastern Hebei or Yanshan area. | Jinli LIU Qiuxiang YU Lixian CUI Jing LIU Zhongkui BAI | 2022 | Asian Agricultural Research2022,14,6: | 0 |

| 18 | Analysis of Host Selectivity and Taxis of Grapholita molesta in Different Peach Varieties显示文摘[Objective]The paper was to preliminarily determine the susceptible varieties of Grapholita molesta(Busck)by analyzing trap catches of peach trees at different ripening stages,new shoot damage rate and fruit damage rate at different development stages.[Method]Three traps were hanged in peach orchard of the same variety,with the interval of 30 m.The traps were fixed on ventilated and shaded branches for regular and fixed-point monitoring.Three trees were randomly selected from each variety to investigate the damage fruit rate and new shoot damage rate at east,south,west and north directions of each tree,and the number of infected fruits and damaged new shoots was recorded.[Result]There were obvious differences in taxis selection of G.molesta to different peach varieties,and the trap catches in the same variety varied among different periods.The damage caused by G.molesta in the same variety over the same period was different among different organs.The catch peak of late ripening peach 03-46-78 appeared on August 11.In summer shoot period,the trap catches of late ripening peach 03-46-78 were extremely higher than those of other varieties,and the damage rate of late ripening peach Jinyuan was extremely higher than that of other varieties.In autumn shoot period,the average trap catches of late ripening peach 03-46-78 were significantly higher than those of other varieties,and the damage rate of late ripening peach Jinyuan was significantly higher than that of other varieties.The investigation and analysis of different ripening stages of peach fruits showed that the damage rate of late ripening variety Ruiguang 39 was significantly higher than that of other varieties in the ripening stage.The trap catches of late ripening peach 03-46-78 were significantly higher than those of other varieties in the young fruit stage.The trap catches of late ripening peach 03-46-78 had significant difference with those of other varieties during fruit expansion stage.The trap catches of late ripening peach 03-46-78 had significant difference with that of other varieties during fruit ripening stage.[Conclusion]With the development of new shoots and the ripening of fruits,G.molesta appears different dynamic regularities in different organs of various varieties.The time point that G.molesta transfers with the development of fruit tree organs should be grasped to deeply analyze the physical and chemical properties of fruit trees during the growth period,so as to find out reasonable and effective prevention and control techniques for fruit farmers. | Cui Lixian Liu Jinli | 2020 | Plant Diseases and Pests2020,11,5: | 0 |
