| 2 | Programmed Death Ligand-1 on Microglia Regulates Th1 Differentiation via Nitric Oxide in Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis显示文摘Microglia are considered to be potential antigen-presenting cells and have the ability to present antigen under pathological conditions. Nevertheless, whether and how microglia are involved in immune regulation are largely unknown. Here, we investigated the suppressive activity of microglia during experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis(EAE) induced by myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein, with the goal of understanding their role in regulating the T cell reaction. Using flow cytometric analysis, we found that microglia were characterized by increased cell number and up-regulated programmed death ligand-1(PD-L1) at the peak phase of EAE. Meanwhile,both the CD^(4+)T cells and microglia that infiltrated the central nervous system expressed higher levels of PD1, the receptor for PD-L1, accompanied by a decline of Th1 cells.In an ex vivo co-culture system, microglia from EAE mice inhibited the proliferation of antigen-specific CD^(4+)T cells and the differentiation of Th1 cells, and this was significantly inhibited by PD-L1 blockade. Further,microglia suppressed Th1 cells via nitric oxide(NO), the production of which was dependent on PD-L1. | 5 | Efficacy and safety of the Qiguiyin formula in severe pneumonia: study protocol for a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of Qiguiyin(QGY) formula in patients with severe pneumonia in China compared with a placebo.METHODS: This is a multicenter double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trial with two parallel arms. There will be 530 patients enrolled and randomized into either the experimental group(QGY formula) or the control group(placebo). Therapies for patients in the two groups above will be based on the conventional therapy. The primary outcome is 28-day mortality. Secondary outcomes include:(a) duration of hospital stay;(b) duration of time in the intensive care unit(ICU) stays;(c) duration of mechanical ventilation;(d) antibiotic DDD value(which means the doses of antibotics during the treatment period);(e) serum procalcitonin(PCT) level;(f) serum C-reactive protein(CRP)level;(g) Pneumonia severity index(PSI) score;(h)Sequential Organ Failure Assessment(SOFA) score;(i) sputum culture results;(j) blood routine examination results;(k) routine urine test results;(l) stool routine examination results;(m) electrocardiogram results;(n) alanine aminotransferase levels;(o) aspartate amino transferase levels;(p) total bilirubin;(q) creatinine levels;(r) urea nitrogen levels;and(s)adverse events.ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: The protocol has been approved by the Research Ethics Committee of Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine,Affiliated with Capital Medical University(2018 BL-053-02). | 6 | Pigsties near dwellings as a potential risk factor for the prevalence of Japanese encephalitis virus in adult in Shanxi,China显示文摘Background:The increasing trend of adult cases of Japanese encephalitis(JE)in China,particularly in northern China,has become an important public health issue.We conducted an epidemiological investigation in the south of Shanxi Province to examine the relationships between mosquitoes,Japanese encephalitis virus(JEV),and adult JE cases.Methods:Mosquito specimens were collected from the courtyards of farmers’households and pig farms in Shanxi Province.Mosquitoes were pooled,homogenized,and centrifuged.Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)was used to detect mosquito-borne arbovirus genes in homogenates.Specimens positive for these genes were inoculated into the baby hamster kidney cell line(BHK-21)to isolate virus.Minimum infection rate was calculated and phylogenetic analyses were performed.Results:A total of 7943 mosquitoes belonging to six species in four genera were collected;Culex tritaeniorhynchus accounted for 73.08%(5805/7943),C.pipiens pallens for 24.75%(1966/7943),and the remaining 3%(104/7943)consisted of Anopheles sinensis,Aedes vexans,Ae.dorsalis,and Armigeres subalbatus.Sixteen pools were positive for JEV based on RT-PCR using JEV pre-membrane gene nested primers.Phylogenetic analyses showed that all JEVs belonged to genotype I;two pools were positive using Getah Virus(GETV)gene primers.In addition,one JEV strain(SXYC1523)was isolated from C.pipiens pallens specimens.These results indicate that the minimum infection rate of JEV in mosquito specimens collected from the courtyards of farmers’households with pigsties was 7.39/1000;the rate for pig farms was 2.68/1000;and the rate for farmers’courtyards without pigsties was zero.Conclusions:The high-prevalence regions of adult JE investigated in this study are still the natural epidemic focus of JEV.Having pigsties near dwellings is a potential risk factor contributing to the prevalence of adult JE.To prevent the occurrence of local adult JE cases,a recommendation was raised that,besides continuing to implement the Expanded Program on Immunization for children,the government should urge local farmers to cease raising pigs in their own courtyards to reduce the probability of infection with JEV. | Xiaojie Ren Shihong Fu Peifang Dai Huanyu Wang Yuanyuan Li Xiaolong Li Wenwen Lei Xiaoyan Gao Ying He Zhi Lv Jingxia Cheng Guiqin Wang Guodong Liang | 2017 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2017,6,1: | 6 |

| 8 | Pore-Throat Combination Types and Gas-Water Relative Permeability Responses of Tight Gas Sandstone Reservoirs in the Zizhou Area of East Ordos Basin, China显示文摘With the aim of better understanding the tight gas reservoirs in the Zizhou area of east Ordos Basin,a total of 222 samples were collected from 50 wells for a series of experiments.In this study,three pore-throat combination types in sandstones were revealed and confirmed to play a controlling role in the distribution of throat size and the characteristics of gas-water relative permeability.The type-I sandstones are dominated by intercrystalline micropores connected by cluster throats,of which the distribution curves of throat size are narrow and have a strong single peak(peak ratio>30%).The pores in the type-II sandstones dominantly consist of secondary dissolution pores and intercrystalline micropores,and throats mainly occur as slice-shaped throats along cleavages between rigid grain margins and cluster throats in clay cement.The distribution curves of throat size for the type-II sandstones show a bimodal distribution with a substantial low-value region between the peaks(peak ratio<15%).Primary intergranular pores and secondary intergranular pores are mainly found in type-III samples,which are connected by various throats.The throat size distribution curves of type-III sandstones show a nearly normal distribution with low kurtosis(peak ratio<10%),and the micro-scale throat radii(>0.5μm)constitute a large proportion.From type-I to type-III sandstones,the irreducible water saturation(Swo)decreased;furthermore,the slope of the curves of Krw/Krg in two-phase saturation zone decreased and the two-phase saturation zone increased,indicating that the gas relative flow ability increased.Variations of the permeability exist in sandstones with different porethroat combination types,which indicate the type-III sandstones are better reservoirs,followed by type-II sandstones and type-I sandstones.As an important factor affecting the reservoir quality,the pore-throat combination type in sandstones is the cumulative expression of lithology and diagenetic modifications with strong heterogeneity. | LI Mi GUO Yinghai LI Zhuangfu WANG Huaichang ZHANG Jingxia | 2019 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2019,93,3: | 5 |

| 11 | Ge nanoparticles uniformly immobilized on 3D interconnected porous graphene frameworks as anodes for high-performance lithium-ion batteries显示文摘Germanium(Ge), an alloy-type anode material for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs), possesses many advantages such as high theoretical capacity and decent electrical conductivity. Nevertheless, its application is restricted by tremendous volume variation and tardy reaction kinetic during discharge/charge process.In this paper, the Ge/3DPG composites with Ge nanoparticles uniformly dispersed in 3D interconnected porous graphene(3DPG) skeleton are successfully prepared using a template-assisted in-situ reduction method. The unique 3D interconnected porous graphene can not only enhance the electronic conductivity and reaction kinetics of the materials, but also provide sufficient buffer space to effectively mitigate the volume expansion during cycling and strengthen the structural integrity. Moreover, the small-sized Ge nanoparticles in close conjunction with the 3D graphene can boost the surface-controlled reaction of the electrode, which contributes to a fast charge–discharge rate capability. The Ge/3DPG composite with optimized Ge/graphene mass ratio delivers high reversible specific capacity(1102 mAh g^(-1) after 100 cycles at 0.2 C), outstanding rate capability(494 mAh g^(-1) at 5 C), and admirable cycling stability(85.3% of capacity retention after 250 cycles at 0.5 C). Here we describe and illustrate a new species, Holttumochloa hainanensis sp. nov., from the lowland montane forests of Diaoluo Mountain on the Island of Hainan, South China. Morphologically, H. hainanensis is similar to Holttumochloa korbuensis,but can be clearly distinguished from it in having larger culms covered by white wax, longer leaf blades,larger pseudospikelets and anthers. Furthermore, molecular phylogeny based on the nuclear gene GBSSI corroborates the identification of the new species and its affinity. | 17 | ABNORMAL SHOOT 6 interacts with KATANIN 1 and SHADE AVOIDANCE 4 to promote cortical microtubule severing and ordering in Arabidopsis显示文摘Plant interphase cortical microtubules(cMTs)mediate anisotropic cell expansion in response to environmental and developmental cues.In Arabidopsis thaliana,KATANIN 1(KTN1),the p60 catalytic subunit of the conserved MT-severing enzyme katanin,is essential for cMT ordering and anisotropic cell expansion.However,the regulation of KTN1-mediated cMT severing and ordering remains unclear.In this work,we report that the Arabidopsis IQ67 DOMAIN(IQD)family gene ABNORMAL SHOOT 6(ABS6)encodes a MT-associated protein.Overexpression of ABS6 leads to elongated cotyledons,directional pavement cell expansion,and highly ordered transverse cMT arrays.Genetic suppressor analysis revealed that ABS6-mediated cMT ordering is dependent on KTN1 and SHADE AVOIDANCE 4(SAV4).Live imaging of cMT dynamics showed that both ABS6 and SAV4 function as positive regulators of cMT severing.Furthermore,ABS6 directly interacts with KTN1 and SAV4 and promotes their recruitment to the cMTs.Finally,analysis of loss-of-function mutant combinations showed that ABS6,SAV4,and KTN1 work together to ensure the robust ethylene response in the apical hook of dark-grown seedlings.Together,our findings establish ABS6 and SAV4 as positive regulators of cMT severing and ordering,and highlight the role of cMT dynamics in fine-tuning differential growth in plants. | Yuanfeng Li Meng Deng Haofeng Liu Yan Li Yu Chen Min Jia Hui Xue Jingxia Shao Jun Zhao Yafei Qi Lijun An Fei Yu Xiayan Liu | 2021 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2021,63,4: | 2 |
