1Effects of Cr interlayer on mechanical and tribological properties of Cr-Al-Si-N nanocomposite coating显示文摘Cr-Al-Si-N coatings were deposited on SUS 304 substrate by a hybrid coating system. A Cr interlayer was introduced between Cr-Al-Si-N coating and SUS 304 substrate to improve the coating adherence. The effects of Cr interlayer on the microhardness, adhesion, and tribological behavior of Cr-Al-Si-N coatings were systematically investigated. The results indicate that the microhardness of the Cr-Al-Si-N coatings gradually deceases with increasing thickness of Cr interlayers. The adhesion between Cr-Al-Si-N and SUS 304 substrate is improved by addition of the Cr interlayers. A peak critical load of ~50 N is observed for the coating containing Cr interlayer of 60 nm as compared ~ 20 N for the coating without Cr interlayer. The thicker Cr interlayers result in reduced critical load values. Moreover, the wear resistance of the Cr-Al-Si-N coatings is greatly enhanced by introducing the Cr interlayer with thickness of 60 nm in spite of the decreased microhardness. 2Autism spectrum disorder model mice: Focus on copy number variation and epigenetics显示文摘Autism spectrum disorder(ASD) is gathering concerns in socially developed countries. ASD is a neuropsychiatric disorder of genetic origin with high prevalence of 1%–2%. The patients with ASD characteristically show impaired social skills. Today, many genetic studies identify numerous susceptible genes and genetic loci associated with ASD. Although some genetic factors can lead to abnormal brain function linked to ASD phenotypes, the pathogenic mechanism of ASD is still unclear. 3Thermo-physical Characteristics of Nickel-coated Aluminum Powder as a Function of Particle Size and Oxidant显示文摘Aluminum particles 15–25 μm in size are widely used in fuel propellants and underwater propulsion systems in national defense research. However, these particles are covered with an aluminum oxide film, which has a high melting point, so ignition is difficult. To improve the ignitability of high-energy aluminum powder and to understand the reaction phenomenon as a function of particle size(15–25 μm, 74–105 μm, and 2.38 mm) and oxidizer(air, CO2, and argon), the natural oxide films are chemically removed. The particles are then coated with nickel using an electro-less method. The degree of nickel deposition is confirmed qualitatively and quantitatively through surface analysis using scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive spectroscopy. To characterize the nickel coatings, elemental analysis is also conducted by using X-ray diffraction. Thermogravimetric analysis/differential scanning calorimetry(TGA/DSC) enable comparisons between the uncoated and coated aluminum, and the reaction process are investigated through fine structural analysis of the particle surfaces and cross sections. There are little difference in reactivity as a function of oxidant type. However, a strong exothermic reaction in the smaller nickel-coated aluminum particles near the melting point of aluminum accelerates the reaction of the smaller particles. 4A Steam-Plasma Igniter for Aluminum Powder Combustion显示文摘High-temperature ignition is essential for the ignition and combustion of energetic metal fuels,including aluminum and magnesium particles which are protected by their highmelting-temperature oxides.A plasma torch characterized by an ultrahigh-temperature plasma plume fulfills such high-temperature ignition conditions.A new steam plasma igniter is designed and successfully validated by aluminum power ignition and combustion tests.The steam plasma rapidly stabilizes in both plasma and steam jet modes.Parametric investigation of the steam plasma jet is conducted in terms of arc strength.A high-speed camera and an oscilloscope method visualize the discharge characteristics,and optical emission spectroscopy measures the thermochemical properties of the plasma jet.The diatomic molecule OH fitting method,the Boltzmann plot method,and short exposure capturing with an intensified charge coupled device record the axial distributions of the rotational gas temperature,excitation temperature,and OH radical distribution,respectively.The excitation temperature at the nozzle tip is near 5500 K,and the gas temperature is 5400 K.Sanghyup LEE Kwanyoung NOH Jihwan LIM Woongsup YOON 2015Plasma Science and Technology2015,17,5:2

17All-fiber acousto-optic modulator based on a cladding-etched optical fiber for active mode-locking显示文摘An all-fiber acousto-optic modulator(AOM), which features a compact structure and a low-driving voltage, is experimentally demonstrated for the active mode-locking of a fiber laser. The proposed AOM is based on the short length of the cladding-etched fiber, the ends of which are fixed on a slide glass. On top of the cladding-etched fiber, a piezoelectric transducer was overlaid. A chemical wet-etching technique, which is based on a mixed solution of NH_4F and (NH_4)2SO_4, is used to reduce the fiber diameter down to ~25 μm, and the length of the etched section is only 0.5 cm. The fabricated device exhibited a modulation depth of 73.10% at an acoustic frequency of 918.9 kHz and a peak-to-peak electrical voltage of 10 V, while a laser beam was coupled at 1560 nm.By using the prepared AOM within an erbium-doped-fiber ring cavity, the mode-locked pulses with a temporalwidth of 2.66 ps were readily obtained at a repetition rate of 1.838 MHz.JIHWAN KIM JOONHOI KOO JU HAN LEE 2017Photonics Research2017,5,5:0
18Enhanced stability and rate performance of zinc-doped cobalt hexacyanoferrate (CoZnHCF) by the limited crystal growth and reduced distortion显示文摘Cobalt hexacyanoferrate (CoHCF) is a potential cathode for aqueous Na-ion batteries due to its high theoretical specific capacity (170 m Ah g^(-1));however,its lower rate capability and cyclability limit its applications.Structural distortion at a weak N-coordinated crystal field during cycling disintegrates Co,yielding an irreversible reaction.Different Zn amounts ranging 0–1 were added to the Co site to suppress the structural irreversibility of CoHCF,yielding Co_(1-x)Zn_(x)HCF powder;this Zn (x≤0.09) addition reduced the powder’s dimension because the lower four coordination of Zn–N,not the six coordination of Co–N,limits the powder growth.Simultaneously,a small lattice parameter and interaxial angle (~90°) are obtained,implying that a narrower Co_(1-x)Zn_(x)HCF inner structure is formed to accommodate Na ions.Moreover,the electronic conductivity of Co_(1-x)Zn_(x)HCF gradually increased within 0–0.09 range.A smaller particle size with a high surface area leads to a near-surface-limited redox process,similar to a capacitive reaction.Both the surface-limited reaction and electronic conductivity enhances the reversibility due to the smaller charge transfer resistance at the electrode/electrolyte interface caused by Zn addition.Replacing redox-active Co with non-active Zn amount of 0.07 (Co_(1-x)Zn_(x)HCF) slightly reduces the specific capacity from 127 to 119 mAh g^(-1)at 0.1 A g^(-1)due to the shrunken Co charging sites.Rate performance is enhanced by compromising the capacity and reduced distortion,resulting in 81%retention at a 20-times-faster charging rate.Notably,the Co_(1-x)Zn_(x)HCF sample exhibited the good stability while preserving 74%of the initial capacity at 0.5 A g^(-1)after 200 cycles.Jihwan Kim Seong-Hoon Yi Li Li Sang-Eun Chun 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,6:0
19Diagnosis of Middle Ear Diseases Based on Convolutional Neural Network显示文摘An otoscope is traditionally used to examine the eardrum and ear canal.A diagnosis of otitis media(OM)relies on the experience of clinicians.If an examiner lacks experience,the examination may be difficult and time-consuming.This paper presents an ear disease classification method using middle ear images based on a convolutional neural network(CNN).Especially the segmentation and classification networks are used to classify an otoscopic image into six classes:normal,acute otitis media(AOM),otitis media with effusion(OME),chronic otitis media(COM),congenital cholesteatoma(CC)and traumatic perforations(TMPs).The Mask R-CNN is utilized for the segmentation network to extract the region of interest(ROI)from otoscopic images.The extracted ROIs are used as guiding features for the classification.The classification is based on transfer learning with an ensemble of two CNN classifiers:EfficientNetB0 and Inception-V3.The proposed model was trained with a 5-fold cross-validation technique.The proposed method was evaluated and achieved a classification accuracy of 97.29%.Yunyoung Nam Seong Jun Choi Jihwan Shin Jinseok Lee 2023Computer Systems Science & Engineering2023,46,8:0
20Temperature Induces Self-assembly of Silicon Nano/Micro-structure based on Multi-physics Approach显示文摘A three-dimensional dynamic model for nano/micro-fabrications of silicon was presented. With the developed model, the fabrication process of silicon on nothing(SON) structure was quantitatively investigated. We employ a diffuse interface model that incorporates the mechanism of surface diffusion. The mechanism of the fabrication is systematically integrated for high reliability of computational analysis. A semi-implicit Fourier spectral scheme is applied for high efficiency and numerical stability. Moreover, the theoretical analysis provides the guidance that is ordered by the fundamental geometrical design parameters to guide different fabrications of SON structures.
