3Effects of polygonatum sibiricum polysaccharide on learning and memory in a scopolamine-induced mouse model of dementia显示文摘BACKGROUND: Learning and memory processes are accompanied by complex neuropathological and biochemical changes. Free radicals play an important role in learning and memory damage. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of polygonatum sibiricum polysaccharide (PSP) in comparison with vitamin E on inhibiting free radical damage, as well as improving the degree of cerebral ischemia and learning and memory in a scopolamine-induced mouse model of dementia. DESIGN: Randomized controlled animal study. SETTINGS: Department of Pharmacology, Taishan Medical College; Shandong Jewim Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. MATERIALS: A total of 105 healthy Kunming mice, comprising 90 males and 15 females that were clean grade, were provided by the Animal Center of Taishan Medical College. PSP (extracted and purified by Huangjing, Taishan) was provided by the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Taishan Medical College (purity of 79.6% by using a phenol-concentrated sulphate acid method), and hydrogen bromine acid scopolamine injection solution (SCO) by Shanghai Hefeng Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. METHODS: This study was performed at the Pharmacological Laboratory of Taishan Medical College from March to June 2007. ① A total of 75 healthy Kunming male mice of clean grade were randomly divided into a normal control group, positive control group, and low-dosage and high-dosage PSP groups, with 15 mice in each group. Mice in both the low-dosage and high-dosage PSP groups were intragastrically administered 0.5 g/kg and 2.0 g/kg PSP, respectively. Mice in the positive control group were intragastrically administered 0.5 g/kg vitamin E. In addition, mice in both the normal control group and model group were intragastrically administered the same volume of saline, respectively, once a day for 7 consecutive days. One hour after the final administration on day 6, mice in the positive control group, model group, low-dosage and high-dosage PSP groups were subcutaneously injected with 3.0 mg/kg SCO, while mice in the normal control group were subcutaneously injected with the same volume of distilled water. Ten minutes later, the step test was employed to measure memory. The training was performed 5 times, with 30-minute intervals between 2 sets. If the mice remained on the platform (latent period) for 30 minutes, they were determined to have learned the task. An eligible percentage was then recorded. Twenty-four hours later, the number of error responses from each mouse was recorded in a 5-minute period, based on the above-mentioned parameters. Mice were sacrificed under anesthesia. The activities of glutathione hyperoxide enzyme (GSH-Px), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and the content of malondialdehyde (MDA) were assayed using an UV spectrophotometer. ② The remaining 30 healthy Kunming mice of both genders were randomly divided into 3 groups, including control group, low-dosage PSP group, and high-dosage PSP group, with 10 mice in each group. Mice in both the low-dosage and high-dosage PSP groups were intragastrically administered 0.5 g/kg and 2.0 g/kg PSP, respectively, while the mice in the control group were perfused with the same volume of saline. Forty minutes later, the mice under superficial anesthesia were decapitated, and the number and duration of mouth-opening breaths of the isolated mouse head were immediately recorded. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE: ① Numbers of error responses within 5 minutes on the platform. ② GSH-Px and SOD activity, as well as MDA content in mouse brain tissue. ③ Numbers and duration of mouth-opening breaths of the isolated mouse head. RESULTS: Of the 105 Kunming experimental mice, two mice died due to electric shock during the step-down test, therefore, a total of 103 mice were involved in the final analysis. ① Effects of PSP on learning in mice: The eligible percentage in the high-dosage PSP group was higher than the control group at the 3rd and 5th training sessions (P < 0.05). ② Effects of PSP on memory in mice: The number of errors in the step-down test in the model group was higher than in the normal control group (P < 0.01). Compared tothe model group, the number of errors in the step-down test was lower in both the low-dosage and high-dosage PSP groups (P < 0.01). ③ Effects of PSP on amount of GSH-Px, SOD, and MDA in mouse brain tissue: SOD and GSH-Px activity was higher in both the low-dosage and high-dosage PSP groups than in the model group. MDA content was lower in the high-dosage PSP group, compared to the model group. GSH-Px activity in the brain tissue of the high-dosage PSP group was similar to the positive control group (P > 0.05). ④ Effects of PSP on acute cerebral ischemia in mice: The low-dosage PSP, and in particular the high-dosage PSP, prolonged the number and duration of mouth-opening breaths of the isolated mouse head (P < 0.05, 0.01). CONCLUSION: PSP can improve learning and memory in a scopolamine-induced mouse model of dementia by reducing the damaging effects of cerebral ischemia and anti-oxidation. 6Electrochemical behavior of Cu(II) reduced in CH3OH and DMSO显示文摘The cyclic voltammetry and the potential-time curve after galvanostatic electrolysis were used to study the electrode processes of Cu(Ⅱ) in CH3OH solution and DMSO solution. The electroreduction of Cu(Ⅱ) to Cu on a Pt electrode proceeds in two steps: Cu(Ⅱ) + e = Cu(Ⅰ); Cu(Ⅰ) + e = Cu. 7An energy-driven unequal clustering protocol for heterogeneous wireless sensor networks显示文摘Due to the limitation of energy resources, energy efficiency is a key issue in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Clustering is proved to be an important way to realize hierarchical topology control, which can improve the scalability and prolong the lifetime of wireless sensor networks. In this paper, an energy-driven unequal clustering protocol (EDUC) for heterogeneous wireless sensor networks is proposed. EDUC includes an unequal clustering algorithm and an energy-driven adaptive cluster head rotation method. The unequal size of clusters can balance the energy consumption among clusters, and the energy-driven cluster head rotation method can achieve the balance of energy consumption among nodes within a cluster, which reduces the waste of energy. 8Isatin decreases Bax protein expression in the substantia nigra of a mouse model of Parkinson's disease显示文摘The present study observed the action of 1H-indole-2, 3-dione (isatin) on Bax protein expression in the substantia nigra of a Parkinson's disease animal model. Parkinson's disease-like behaviors were induced in C57BL/6J mice treated with 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1, 2, 3, 6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP). Bax protein expression was significantly reduced in isatin (100, 200 mg/kg)-pretreated mice. 9A Novel Analysis of Delay and Power Consumption for Polling Schemes in the IoT显示文摘In the Internet of Things(IoT), various battery-powered wireless devices are connected to collect and exchange data, and typical traffic is periodic and heterogeneous. Polling with power management is a very promising technique that can be used for communication among these devices in the IoT. In this paper, we propose a novel and scalable model to study the delay and the power consumption performance for polling schemes with power management under heterogeneous settings(particularly the heterogeneous sleeping interval). In our model,by introducing the concept of virtual polling interval, we successfully convert the considered energy-efficient polling scheme into an equivalent purely-limited vacation system. Thus, we can easily evaluate the mean and variance of the delay and the power consumption by applying existing queueing formulae, without developing a new theoretical model as required in previous works. 10A New Efficient Certificate-Based Signature Scheme显示文摘Certificate-based cryptography is a new kind of public key algorithm, which combines the merits of traditional Public key infrastructure(PKI) and identitybased cryptography. It removes the inherent key escrow problem in the identity-based cryptography and eliminates the certificate revocation problem and third-party queries in the traditional PKI. In this paper, we propose an efficient certificate-based signature scheme based on bilinear pairings. Under the strong security model of certificatebased signature scheme, we prove that our scheme is existentially unforgeable against adaptive chosen message and identity attacks in the random oracle. In our scheme, only two pairing operations are needed in the signing and verification processes. 11Constructing Certificateless Encryption with Keyword Search against Outside and Inside Keyword Guessing Attacks显示文摘Searchable public key encryption is a useful cryptographic paradigm that enables an untrustworthy server to retrieve the encrypted data without revealing the contents of the data. It offers a promising solution to encrypted data retrieval in cryptographic cloud storage. Certificateless public key cryptography (CLPKC) is a novel cryptographic primitive that has many merits. It overcomes the key escrow problem in identity-based cryptography (IBC) and the cumbersome certificate problem in conventional public key cryptography (PKC). Motivated by the appealing features of CLPKC, several certificateless encryption with keyword search (CLEKS) schemes have been presented in the literature. But, our cryptanalysis demonstrates that the previously proposed CLEKS frameworks suffer from the security vulnerability caused by the keyword guessing attack. To remedy the security weakness in the previous frameworks and provide resistance against both inside and outside keyword guessing attacks, we propose a new CLEKS framework. Under the new framework, we design a concrete CLEKS scheme and formally prove its security in the random oracle model. 123D skeleton nanostructured Ni_3S_2/Ni foam@RGO composite anode for high-performance dual-ion battery显示文摘The growing global demands of safe, low-cost and high working voltage energy storage devices trigger strong interests in novel battery concepts beyond state-of-art lithium-ion battery. Herein, a dualion battery based on nanostructured Ni_3S_2/Ni foam@RGO(NSNR) composite anode is developed, utilizing graphite as cathode material and LiPF6-VC-based solvent as electrolyte. The battery operates at high working voltage of 4.2–4.5 V, with superior discharge capacity of ~90 m A h g^(-1) at 100 mA g^(-1), outstanding rate performance, and long-term cycling stability over 500 cycles with discharge capacity retention of ~85.6%. Moreover, the composite simultaneously acts as the anode material and the current collector, and the corrosion phenomenon can be greatly reduced compared to metallic Al anode. 13Hierarchical N-doped porous carbon hosts for stabilizing tellurium in promoting Al-Te batteries显示文摘Aluminum batteries are attractive in electrochemical energy storage due to high energy density and lowcost aluminum,while the energy density is limited for the lack of favorable positive electrode materials to match aluminum negative electrodes.Tellurium positive electrode is intrinsically electrically conductive among chalcogen and holds high theoretical specific capacity(1260.27 mAh g^(-1)) and discharge voltage plateau(~1,5 V).However,the chemical and electrochemical dissolution of Te active materials results in the low material utilization and poor cycling stability.To enhance the electrochemical performance,herein a nitrogen doped porous carbon(N-PC) is derived from zeolite imidazolate framework(ZIF-67)as an effective tellurium host to suppress the undesired shuttle effect.In order to inhibit the volume expansion of N-PC during the charge/discharge process,the reduced graphene oxide(rGO) nanosheets are introduced to form a stable host materials(N-PC-rGO) for stabilizing Te.The physical encapsulation and chemical confinement to soluble tellurium species are achieved.N-PC-rGO-Te positive electrode exhibits an improved initial specific capacity and long-term cycling performance at a current density of 500 mA g^(-1)(initial specific capacity:935.5 mAh g^(-1);after 150 cycles:467.5 mAh g^(-1)), highlighting a promising design strategy for inhibiting chemical and electrochemical dissolution of Te.Xuefeng Zhang Mingyong Wang Jiguo Tu Shuqiang Jiao 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,6:2

16Differentiation Between Bacillus thuringiensis and Bacillus cereus by 16S rDNA-PCR and ERIC-PCR显示文摘16S rDNA and ERIC(Enterobacteia Repetitive Intergenic Consensus Sequences) based on PCR method were tested for the effectiveness of the differentiation of B.thuringiensis and B.cereus.16S rDNA-PCR primers were designed based on the sequence difference in variable regions of B.cereus 16S rDNA and B.thuringiensis 16S rDNA.16S rDNA-PCR showed no obvious difference between B.cereus and B.thuringiensis.The only difference was that one 1600-bp amplificon could be obtained from all the three B.Cereus strains,and none amplificon from any B.thuringiensis strains.ERIC was optimized based on previous reports.The genomic DNA was used for the template of ERIC-PCR,and the following DNA fingerprints were analyzed by the agarose gel electrophoresis.The results showed that DNA fingerprint of three B.thuringiensis strains had a unique amplicon less than 100-bp,while DNA fingerprint of three B.cereus strains had none.Moreover,DNA fingerprint of B.cereus showed a 700-bp amplicon,but didn't have any DNA fingerprints of B.thuringiensis genome.Therefore,ERIC-PCR technique should be able to be used for the differentiation of B.thuringiensis and B.cereus.LI Haitao LIU Dongming GAO Jiguo 2011Journal of Northeast Agricultural University(English Edition)2011,18,3:2

20Effects of natural-cerebrolysin-containing serum on neurotoxicity and synaptogenesis in amyloid-beta 1-40-induced Alzheimer's disease in vitro models显示文摘BACKGROUND:Neuronal loss,synapse mutilation,and increasing malnourished axons are pathologically related to Alzheimer's disease.Microtubule-associated protein 2(MAP2) is of importance for neuronal,axonal,and dendritic generation,extension,and stabilization,as well as for the regulation of synaptic plasticity. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the antagonistic effects of natural-cerebrolysin-containing serum on beta amyloid protein 1-40(Aβ_(1-40))-induced neurotoxicity from the standpoints of cell proliferation, synaptogenesis,and cytoskeleton formation(MAP2 expression). DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:A paralleled,controlled,neural cell,and molecular biology experiment was performed at the Institute of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine, Shenzhen Hospital,Southern Medical University between February 2006 and April 2008. MATERIALS:PC12 cells,derived from the rat central nervous system,were purchased from Shanghai Institute of Cell Biology,Chinese Academy of Sciences,China.Aβ_(1-40) was provided by Sigma,USA.Natural-cerebrolysin was provided by Shenzhen Institute of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine,China.The natural-cerebrolysin was predominantly composed of Renshen (Radix Ginseng),Tianma(Rhizoma Gastrodiae),and Yixingye(Ginkgo Leaf) in a proportion of 1:2:2.Following conventional water extraction technology,an extract(1:20) was prepared.Each gram of extract equaled 20 grams of crude drug.In a total of 12 adult male New Zealand rabbits, six underwent intragastric administration of natural-cerebrolysin extract for 1 month to prepare natural-cerebrolysin-containing serum,and the remaining six rabbits received intragastric administration of physiological saline to prepare normal blank serum. METHODS:An Alzheimer's disease in vitro model was induced in PC12 cells using Aβ_(1-40).The cells were incubated with varying doses of natural-cerebrolysin-containing serum(2.5%,5%,and 10%).Normal blank serum-treated PC12 cells served as a blank control group. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Through the use of inverted phase contrast microscope,cell morphology and neurite growth were observed,neurite length was measured,and the percentage of neurite-positive cells was calculated.Cell proliferation rate was determined by MTT assay,and MAP 2 expression was detected by fluorescent immunocytochemistry. RESULTS:Following Aβ_(1-40) treatments,some PC12 cells were apoptotic/dying,and only a few short neurites were observed.Following interventions with natural-cerebrolysin-containing serum, the PC12 cells proliferated,there was an increased number of neurites,and neurite length was enhanced.After middle- and high-dose natural-cerebrolysin treatments,the percentage of neurite-positive cells,as well as the average length of neurites,was significantly greater than the normal blank serum-treated PC12 cells(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Compared with the blank control group,MAP2 expression in the Aβ_(1-40)-treated PC12 cells was significantly inhibited,and the cell proliferation rate was significantly decreased(P<0.01).Following incubations with natural-cerebrolysin-containing serum,MAP2 expression and cell proliferation rate in the PC12 cells were significantly increased in a dose-dependent manner,compared with treatments with blank control serum(P<0.05 or P<0.01). CONCLUSION:Natural-cerebrolysin exhibited antagonistic effects on neurotoxicity in Aβ_(1-40)- induced Alzheimer's disease in vitro models.These effects were likely related to cell proliferation and the upregulation of intracellular MAP2 expression.Yinghong Li Zhengzhi Wu Andrew C.
