1Regulation of the inflammatory cycle by a controllable release hydrogel for eliminating postoperative inflammation after discectomy显示文摘Surgery is the final choice for most patients with intervertebral disc degeneration(IDD).Operation-caused trauma will cause inflammation in the intervertebral disc.Serious inflammation will cause tissue defects and induce tissue degeneration,IDD recurrence and the occurrence of other diseases.Therefore,we proposed a scheme to treat recurrence after discectomy by inhibiting inflammation with an aspirin(ASP)-loaded hydrogel to restore the mechanical stability of the spine and relieve local inflammation.ASP-liposomes(ASP-Lips)were incorporated into a photocrosslinkable gelatin-methacryloyl(GelMA)via mixing.This material can effectively alleviate inflammation by inhibiting the release of high mobility group box 1(HMGB1)from the nucleus to the cytoplasm.We further assessed the expression of inflammatory cytokines,such as interleukin 6(IL-6)and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),and degeneration-related factors,such as type II collagen(COL-2),Aggrecan,matrix metallopeptidases-3(MMP-3),MMP-13,a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs-4(ADAMTS-4)and ADAMTS-5 in rat nucleus pulpous cells.The level of IDD was analyzed through H&E,safranin-O staining and immunohistochemistry in rabbit samples.In vitro,we found that ASP-Lip@GelMA treatment significantly decreased inflammatory cytokines,MMP-3 and-13,and ADAMTS-4 and-5 and up-regulated COL-2 and Aggrecan via the inhibited release of HMGB-1 from the nucleus.In vivo,ASP-Lip@GelMA can effectively inhibit inflammation of local tissue after disc surgery and fill local tissue defects.This composite hydrogel system is a promising way to treat the recurrence of IDD after surgery without persistent complications.Yu Liu Jiacheng Du Peng Peng Ruoyu Cheng Jiayi Lin Congxin Xu Huilin Yang Wenguo Cui Haiqing Mao Yuling Li Dechun Geng 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,1:6
2The next detectors for gravitational wave astronomy显示文摘This paper focuses on the next detectors for gravitational wave astronomy which will be required after the current ground based detectors have completed their initial observations, and probably achieved the first direct detection of gravitational waves. The next detectors will need to have greater sensitivity, while also enabling the world array of detectors to have improved angular resolution to allow localisation of signal sources. Sect. 1 of this paper begins by reviewing proposals for the next ground based detectors,and presents an analysis of the sensitivity of an 8 km armlength detector, which is proposed as a safe and cost-effective means to attain a 4-fold improvement in sensitivity. The scientific benefits of creating a pair of such detectors in China and Australia is emphasised. Sect. 2 of this paper discusses the high performance suspension systems for test masses that will be an essential component for future detectors, while sect. 3 discusses solutions to the problem of Newtonian noise which arise from fluctuations in gravity gradient forces acting on test masses. Such gravitational perturbations cannot be shielded, and set limits to low frequency sensitivity unless measured and suppressed. Sects. 4 and 5 address critical operational technologies that will be ongoing issues in future detectors. Sect. 4 addresses the design of thermal compensation systems needed in all high optical power interferometers operating at room temperature. Parametric instability control is addressed in sect. 5. Only recently proven to occur in Advanced LIGO, parametric instability phenomenon brings both risks and opportunities for future detectors. The path to future enhancements of detectors will come from quantum measurement technologies. 3Characteristics of Eddy Current Attenuation and Thickness Measurement of Metallic Plate显示文摘In eddy current testing, the law of attenuation of eddy current(EC) is of great concern. In conductive half space under the excitation of uniform magnetic field, the EC density decreases exponentially in the depth direction. However, in conductor with finite thickness tested by coil, the distribution of EC in the depth direction is more complicated. This paper studies the characteristics of EC attenuation in metallic plate of finite thickness. Simulation results show that there is an EC reflection at the bottom of plate, which changes the law of EC attenuation. A new concept, namely the equivalent attenuation coefficient, is proposed to quantify the speed of EC attenuation. The characteristics of EC attenuation are utilized to explain the nonmonotonic relation between coil voltage and plate thickness. Procedure of selecting frequency is discussed. 4Identification and Functional Characterization of a NovelΔ12 Fatty Acid Desaturase Gene from Haematococcus pluvialis显示文摘The freshwater microalga Haematococcus pluvialis accumulates large amounts of fatty acids in response to adverse conditions.However,the key fatty acid desaturase genes in H.pluvialis remain unknown.In this study,we cloned and functionally characterized aΔ12 fatty acid desaturase gene,and designated it as HpFAD2.The open reading frame of HpFAD2 consisted of 1137 base pairs and encoded 378 amino acids.The deduced polypeptide showed 70%identity to other endoplasmic reticulumΔ12 fatty acid desaturases,whereas it had only 44%identity to plastidΔ12 fatty acid desaturases.The PSORT algorithm and phylogenetic analysis further confirmed its affiliation to the endoplasmic reticulumΔ12 fatty acid desaturases.Heterologous expression was performed in Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells transformed with the recombinant plasmid pYES2-HpFAD2.Two additional fatty acids(C16:2 and C18:2)were detected in the yeast transformants.The results indicatedΔ12 desaturation activity and substrate preference for C18:1 over C16:1.The transcriptional levels of H.pluvialis HpFAD2 at different growth stages were measured by quantitative polymerase chain reaction(PCR),indicating that the HpFAD2 transcriptional levels were significantly higher in red cells than those in green cells.Our study brings more insight into the fatty acid biosynthetic pathway of H.pluvialis.ZHANG Lin CHEN Wenbi YANG Shuping ZHANG Yuanbo XU Jilin YANG Dongjie WU Zuyao LIU Tong CAO Jiayi 2020Journal of Ocean University of China2020,19,6:2

6The Community Renewal of Shantytown Transformation in Old Industrial Cities:Evidence from Tiexi Worker Village in Shenyang,China显示文摘There are many problems,such as poverty,unemployment,poor infrastructure and how to improve the ecological environment,in the shantytowns of old industrial cities.Shantytowns are the most centralized areas with different contradictions,referred to as the‘problem areas’of urban sustainable development.The shantytown transformation of old industrial cities is a typical process of unit community disintegration,which is reflected not only in the reconstruction of physical space but also in the community renewal of social spatial integration and culture reconstruction.Based on qualitative research,questionnaires and in-depth interviews,taking Tiexi Worker Village in Shenyang as a research case,this paper attempts to analyse the characteristics and driving forces of the community renewal of shantytown transformation in old industrial cities.We found that the physical space of Tiexi Worker Village has changed considerably,which is embodied in its land use structure,living environment and community service facilities,reflecting the development of community function from simple industrial function to comprehensive functions.The residents in this community have experienced a transformation from a period of homogeneity to one of heterogeneity.The social network of the community has been destroyed.Social stratification,social differentiation and higher fluidity have occurred.Community renewal is mainly affected by macro factors such as policy regulation,economic driving,condition constraints,and micro factors such as residents’choice of living space and willingness to renew their communities.The transformation policy of the old industrial zone and the development policy of the new urban area are the fundamental and deep-seated reasons for the renewal of Tiexi Worker Village,which determine the direction of the renewal and development of the community.The paid use of land and the development of the real estate industry are the direct stimulating factors for the renewal of Tiexi Worker Village,which become the direct reasons for the spatial transformation.The changes in the population in urban and rural areas and the promotion of traffic are the driving factors for the renewal of the community,while the choice of residents and their willingness regarding community renewal are the endogenous forces for promoting community renewal.Finally,the author attempts to put forward a model of the interlaced mechanism of the forming of community renewal at the macroscopic and microcosmic levels,which are the urban renewal and reconstruction and social space differentiation of community residents,respectively.DONG Lijing WANG Yongchao LIN Jiayi ZHU Ermeng 2020Chinese Geographical Science2020,30,6:1

8Simultaneous enhancement of coercivity and electric resistivity of Nd-Fe-B magnets by Pr-Tb-Al-Cu synergistic grain boundary diffusion toward high-temperature motor rotors显示文摘To high-power permanent magnetic motors,it is critical for Nd-Fe-B magnets to maintain the desirable coercivity at high-temperature operating conditions.To address this,two approaches have been proven effective:(1)enhancing the room temperature coercivity;(2)reducing the eddy current loss.However,these two items are difficult to be simultaneously achieved.Here,the grain boundary diffusion(GBD)of the Pr-Tb-Al-Cu-based source is applied to enhance the coercivity and electric resistivity at room temperature from 1101 kA m-1 and 2.13×10–6Ωm to 1917 kA m-1 and 2.60×10–6Ωm,and those at 120°C from 384 kA m-1 and 4.31×10–6Ωm to 783 kA m-1 and 4.86×10–6Ωm,respectively.Such optimization is ascribed to the improved formation depth of Tb-rich 2:14:1 shells with large magnetocrystalline anisotropy and the increased intergranular Pr-based oxides with high electric resistivity,induced by the coordination effects of Tb and Pr,as proven by the atomic-scale observations and the first principles calculations.It thus results in the simultaneously improved output power and energy efficiency of the motor because of the combination of magnetic thermal stability enhancement and eddy current loss reduction,as theoretically confirmed by electromagnetic simulation.Jiayi He Jinwen Hu Bang Zhou Haoyang Jia Xiaolian Liu Zhenhua Zhang Lin Wen Lizhong Zhao Hongya Yu Xichun Zhong Xuefeng Zhang Zhongwu Liu 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,23:1

13High-resolution and large-size stretchable electrodes based on patterned silver nanowires composites显示文摘Electrodes based on composites of silver nanowires(AgNWs)and elastic polymers have been widely studied and applied in various stretchable electronic devices.However,due to the high aspect ratio of nanowires,the patterning of AgNW-based composite electrodes remains a huge challenge,especially for high-resolution complex circuit wiring on large-size elastic substrates.In this paper,we propose a method for preparing large-size stretchable circuit boards with high-resolution electrodes by the combination of screen printing and vacuum filtration of AgNWs/polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)composite.The as-prepared stretchable electrodes have smooth edges with patterning resolution up to-50 μm.The conductivity of the composite electrode can be precisely controlled by varying deposition densities of AgNWs and have reached to 1.07 x 10^(4) S/cm when the deposition density was 2.0 mg/cm^(2).In addition,the uniformity of conductivity and the resistance-strain characteristics of composite electrodes were systematically evaluated with different AgNWs deposition densities.The composite electrodes have been successfully employed to construct a large-size programmable display system and an 18-channel surface electromyography(EMG)recording,showing great potentials for some strain-insensitive stretchable circuits in wearable and health-related electronic applications.Yong Lin Qingsong Li Chen Ding Jiayi Wang Wei Yuan Zhiyuan Liu Wenming Su Zheng Cui 2022Nano Research2022,15,5:1

19Doping of group IVB elements for nickel-rich cobalt-free cathodes显示文摘Hetero-element doping is a promising strategy to improve the cycling stability of nickel-rich cobalt-free cathodes for the next-generation high energy-density Li ion batteries.To make doping effective,it is important to understand the mechanism of how the dopants regulate the electronic band,lattice parameter adjusting,or hetero-phase formation to achieve high stability.In this study,we investigate LiNi_(0.9)Mn_(0.1)O_(2)cathodes doped with IVB grouping elements via multiple characterization techniques.By utilizing in situ XRD and TEM methods,we found that the stronger Ti-O bond effectively improves the cathode stability via a dual protection mechanism.Specifically,the bulk lattice of cathode is wellpreserved during cycling as a result of the suppressed H_(2)-H_(3)phase transition,while a in situ formed Ti-rich surface layer can prevent continuous surface degradation.As a result,the 5%Ti doped LiNi_(0.9)Mn_(0.1)O_(2)cathode exhibits a high capacity retention of 96%after 100 cycles.Whereas,despite IVB group elements Zr and Hf have stronger bonding energy with oxygen,their larger ionic radii actually impede their diffusion into the cathode,thereby they can not improve the cycling stability.Our findings uncover the functional origin of doped elements with their dynamic modification on cathode structure,providing mechanistic insights into the design of nickel-rich cobalt-free cathodes.Shengnan Guo Xincheng Lei Jiayi Wang Jie Su Yingying Wang Xiaozhi Liu Pengxiang Ji Kangning Zhao Xuefeng Wang Lin Gu Zhenpeng Yao Dong Su 2023Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,11:0
20Dhx33 promotes B-cell growth and proliferation by controlling activation-induced rRNA upregulation显示文摘Upon recognition of foreign antigens,naïve B cells undergo rapid activation,growth,and proliferation.How B-cell growth and proliferation are coupled with activation remains poorly understood.Combining CRISPR/Cas9-mediated functional analysis and mouse genetics approaches,we found that Dhx33,an activation-induced RNA helicase,plays a critical role in coupling B-cell activation with growth and proliferation.Mutant mice with B-cell-specific deletion of Dhx33 exhibited impaired B-cell development,germinal center reactions,plasma cell differentiation,and antibody production.Dhx33-deficient B cells appeared normal in the steady state and early stage of activation but were retarded in growth and proliferation.Mechanistically,Dhx33 played an indispensable role in activation-induced upregulation of ribosomal DNA(rDNA)transcription.In the absence of Dhx33,activated B cells were compromised in their ability to ramp up 47S ribosomal RNA(rRNA)production and ribosome biogenesis,resulting in nucleolar stress,p53 accumulation,and cellular death.Our findings demonstrate an essential role for Dhx33 in coupling B-cell activation with growth and proliferation and suggest that Dhx33 inhibition is a potential therapy for lymphoma and antibody-mediated autoimmune diseases.Xiaoyu He Jiayi Zhao Abidan Adilijiang Peicheng Hong Pengda Chen Xinyong Lin Jun Xie Ying Du Yun Liu Lianghua Lin Hyun Yong Jin Yazhen Hong Wen-Hsien Liu Changchun Xiao 2023Cellular & Molecular Immunology2023,20,3:0
