2Mode-locked 2.8-μm fluoride fiber laser:from soliton to breathing pulse显示文摘The mode-locked fluoride fiber laser(MLFFL)is an exciting platform for directly generating ultrashort pulses in the mid-infrared(mid-IR).However,owing to difficulty in managing the dispersion in fluoride fiber lasers,MLFFLs are restricted to the soliton regime,hindering pulse-energy scaling.We overcame the problem of dispersion management by utilizing the huge normal dispersion generated near the absorption edge of an infrared-bandgap semiconductor and promoted MLFFL from soliton to breathing-pulse mode-locking.In the breathing-pulse regime,the accumulated nonlinear phase shift can be significantly reduced in the cavity,and the pulse-energy-limitation effect is mitigated.The breathing-pulse MLFFL directly produced a pulse energy of 9.3 nJ and pulse duration of 215 fs,with a record peak power of 43.3 kW at 2.8μm.Our work paves the way for the pulse-energy and peak-power scaling of mid-IR fluoride fiber lasers,enabling a wide range of applications.Zhipeng Qin Guoqiang Xie Hongan Gu Ting Hai Peng Yuan Jingui Ma Liejia Qian 2019Advanced Photonics2019,1,6:9
32.8 μm all-fiber Q-switched and mode-locked lasers with black phosphorus显示文摘In past years, rare-earth-doped fluoride fiber lasers(FFLs) have developed rapidly in the mid-infrared(mid-IR)region. However, due to the lack of fiber optic devices and challenge of fluoride fiber splicing, most mid-IR FFLs have been demonstrated with free-space optic elements, limiting the advantages of all-fiber lasers for flexible delivery, stability, and compactness. Here, we report, to the best of our knowledge, the first pulsed all-fiber FFL in the mid-IR region. By taking advantage of the integration of black phosphorus flake, stable Q-switched and mode-locked pulses were obtained at 2.8 μm wavelength. 4Chronic fatigue syndrome treated by the traditional Chinese proce-dure abdominal tuina:a randomized controlled clinical trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of the traditional Chinese procedure abdominal Tuina(AT) on chronic fatigue syndrome(CFS).METHODS: This randomized, single assessor-blinded clinical trial was carried out from May 2014 to April 2015. Eighty participants in the trial were divided randomly into two groups: experimental group and control. The experimental group(40 cases) was treated by AT and the control group(40 cases) by acupuncture. Each treatment was conducted once a day, 5 d for one course, at an interval of 2 d between each course. The whole treatment course lasted for 4 weeks. To ascertain the effect of AT and acupuncture, Fatigue Scale-14(FS-14), Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS) and Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression(HAMD) scores were used before and after treatment. Patients were followed up for3 months after treatment.RESULTS: After treatment for 4 weeks, 77 patients(39 cases in the experimental group and 38 cases in the control group) completed the trial. The FS-14,SAS and HAMD scores decreased(P < 0.05) significantly compared with those before treatment in both groups. The FS-14 and HAMD(P < 0.05) scores in the experimental group were much lower than those in the control group. The difference in SAS scores between the two groups was not significant.In the final follow-up, CFS in two cases in the experimental group and three in the control group recurred, but the difference was not significant. 7Demonstration of 85%pump depletion and 10-6 noise content in quasi-parametric chirped-pulse amplification显示文摘Full pump depletion corresponds to the upper limit of the generated signal photons relative to the pump pulse;this allows the highest peak power to be produced in a unit area of ultraintense laser amplifiers.In practical systems based on optical parametric chirped-pulse amplification,however,the typical pump depletion is only~35%.Here,we report quasi-parametric chirped-pulse amplification(QPCPA)with a specially designed 8-cm-thick Sm∶YCOB crystal that highly dissipates the idler and hence improves pump depletion.We demonstrate 56%QPCPA energy efficiency for an 810-nm signal converted from a 532-nm pump,or equivalently 85%pump depletion.As another advantage,such a record high depletion greatly suppresses the parametric superfluorescence noise in QPCPA to only~1.5×10-6 relative to the amplified signal energy.These results pave the way to beyond the ten-petawatt peak power of the currently most intense lasers.Jingui Ma Kainan Xiong Peng Yuan Xiaoniu Tu Jing Wang Guoqiang Xie Yanqing Zheng Liejia Qian 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,10:1
8Human Cytomegalovirus Influences Host circRNA Transcriptions during Productive Infection显示文摘Human cytomegalovirus(HCMV)is a double-strand DNA virus widely infected in human.Circular RNAs(circ RNAs)are non-coding RNAs with most functions of which keep unknown,and the effects of HCMV productive infection on host circ RNA transcriptions remain unclear.In this study,we profiled 283 host circ RNAs that significantly altered by HCMV productive infection in human embryonic lung fibroblasts(HELF)by RNA deep sequencing and bioinformatics analysis.Among these,circ SP100,circ MAP3 K1,circ PLEKHM1,and circ TRIO were validated for their transcriptions and sequences.Furthermore,characteristics of circ SP100 were investigated by RT-q PCR and northern blot.It was implied that circ SP100 was produced from the sense strand of the SP100 gene containing six exons.Kinetics of circ SP100 and SP100 m RNA were significantly different after infection:circ SP100 levels increased gradually along with infection,whereas SP100 m RNA levels increased in the beginning and dropped at 24 h post-infection(hpi).Meanwhile,a total number of 257 proteins,including 10 HCMV encoding proteins,were identified potentially binding to cytoplasmic circ SP100 by RNA antisense purification(RAP)and mass spectrometry.Enrichment analysis showed these proteins were mainly involved in the spliceosome,protein processing,ribosome,and phagosome pathways,suggesting multiple functions of circ SP100 during HCMV infection.Jingui Deng Yujing Huang Qing Wang Jianming Li Yanping Ma Ying Qi Zhongyang Liu Yibo Li Qiang Ruan 2021Virologica Sinica2021,36,2:1

13Numerical study of spatial chirp distortion in quasi-parametric chirped-pulse amplification显示文摘Optical parametric chirped-pulse amplification is inevitably subject to high-order spatial chirp,particularly under the condition of saturated amplification and a Gaussian pump;this corresponds to an irreversible spatiotemporal distortion and consequently degrades the maximum attainable focused intensity.In this paper,we reveal that such spatial chirp distortion can be significantly mitigated in quasi-parametric chirped-pulse amplification(QPCPA)with idler absorption.Simulation results show that the quality of focused intensity in saturated QPCPA is nearly ideal,with a spatiotemporal Strehl ratio higher than 0.98.As the seed bandwidth increases,the idler absorption spectrum may not be uniform,but the Strehl ratio in QPCPA can be still high enough due to stronger idler absorption.Yirui Wang Jing Wang Jingui Ma Peng Yuan Liejia Qian 2022High Power Laser Science and Engineering2022,10,3:0

15Pump phase transfer and its control in hybrid seeded optical parametric amplifiers显示文摘Due to the existence of spatial walk-off and/or group-velocity mismatch effects, pump-to-signal phase transfer becomes inevitable during parametric amplification. We experimentally demonstrate that in hybrid seeded optical parametric amplifiers(OPAs) that include two OPA stages seeded by the signal and idler waves, respectively, the phase of the output signal can be restored to its initial value, although there are spatial and temporal phase fluctuations on the pump source. This method significantly relaxes the requirement for high pump beam quality, which is always very stringent in parametric amplification systems. 17Computer simulation studies of the influence of side alkyl chain on glass transition behavior of carbazole trimer显示文摘In this work,all-atom molecular dynamics simulations were employed to study the influence of the side alkyl chain on glass transition behavior of several carbazole trimers(CT) in a temperature range from 423 to 183 K.The glass transition temperatures were obtained from the break in the slope of the volume-temperature curves and found to agree with the experimental values.The short time dynamics of four CT molecules were probed by usingvelocity autocorrelation functions and mean-square displacements.The current studies showed that the dynamics of CT systems can be easily interpreted through the cage effect.Furthermore,the investigation of the torsional autocorrelation function and P_(2-state)/P_(3-state) functions showed that the rotational barriers of side chains can slow down the conformational relaxation and lead to stronger temperature dependence of conformational relaxation.The relaxation time,characteristic time of P_(2-state)(t) and P_(3-state)(t) functions were all found to have Arrhenius-type temperature dependence.Chunyang Yu Li Ma Wei Huang Yongfeng Zhou Jingui Qin Deyue Yan 2017Science China Chemistry2017,60,3:0
18Parametric generation and phase locking of multiple sidebands in the regime of full-back-conversion显示文摘Parametric interaction allows both forward and backward energy transfers among the three interacting waves.The back-conversion effect is usually detrimental when unidirectional energy transfer is desired.In this theoretical work,we manifest that the back-conversion effect underpins the direct generation of the picosecond pulse train without the need for a laser resonator.The research scenario is an optical parametric amplification(OPA)that consists of a second-order nonlinear medium,a quasi-continuous pump laser and a sinusoidal amplitude-modulated seed signal.The back-conversion of OPA can transfer the modulation peaks(valleys)of the incident signal into output valleys(peaks),which inherently induces spectral sidebands.The generation of each sideband is naturally accompanied with a phase shift of±π.In the regime of full-back-conversion,the amount and amplitude of the sidebands reach the maximum simultaneously,and their phase constitutes an arithmetic sequence,leading to the production of a picosecond pulse train.The generated picosecond pulse train can have an ultrahigh repetition rate of 40 GHz or higher,which may facilitate ultrafast applications with ultrahigh speed.Wenhao Wang Yudong Tao Jingui Ma Jing Wang Peng Yuan Dongfang Zhang Liejia Qian 2023High Power Laser Science and Engineering2023,11,2:0
19Toward 5.2μm terawatt few-cycle pulses via optical parametric chirped-pulse amplification with oxide La3Ga5.5Nb0.5O14crystals显示文摘High-power femtosecond lasers beyond 5μm are attractive for strong-field physics with mid-infrared(IR)fields but are difficult to scale up.In optical parametric chirped-pulse amplification(OPCPA)at mid-IR wavelengths,a nonlinear crystal is vital,and its transmittance,dispersion,nonlinear coefficient and size determine the achievable power and wavelength.OPCPA beyond 5μm routinely relies on semiconductor crystals because common oxide crystals are not transparent in this spectral range.However,the small size and low damage threshold of semiconductor crystals fundamentally limit the peak power to gigawatts.In this paper,we design a terawatt-class OPCPA system at 5.2μm based on a new kind of oxide crystal of La3Ga5.5Nb0.5O14(LGN).The extended transparent range,high damage threshold,superior phase-matching characteristics and large size of LGN enable the generation of 0.13 TW seven-cycle pulses at5.2μm.This design fully relies on the state-of-the-art OPCPA technology of an octave-spanning ultrafast Ti:sapphire laser and a thin-disk Yb:YAG laser,offering the performance characteristics of high power,a high repetition rate and a stable carrier-envelope phase.Jinsheng Liu Jingui Ma Jing Wang Peng Yuan Guoqiang Xie Liejia Qian 2019High Power Laser Science and Engineering2019,7,4:0
20Optical modification of nonlinear crystals for quasi-parametric chirped-pulse amplification显示文摘Quasi-parametric chirped-pulse amplification(QPCPA),which features a theoretical peak power much higher than those obtained with Ti:sapphire laser or optical parametric chirped-pulse amplification,is promising for future ultra-intense lasers.The doped rare-earth ion used for idler dissipation is critical for effective QPCPA,but is usually not compatible with traditional crystals.Thus far,only one dissipative crystal of Sm^(3+)-doped yttrium calcium oxyborate has been grown and applied.Here we introduce optical means to modify traditional crystals for QPCPA applications.We theoretically demonstrate two dissipation schemes by idler frequency doubling and sum-frequency generation with an additional laser.In contrast to absorption dissipation,the proposed nonlinear dissipations ensure not only high signal efficiency but also high small-signal gain.The demonstrated ability to optically modify crystals will facilitate the wide application of QPCPA.Qian Lin Jingui Ma Zhe Yin Peng Yuan Jing Wang Guoqiang Xie Liejia Qian 2024Fundamental Research2024,4,1:0
