| 1 | Exploratory Precipitation in North-Central China during the Past Four Centuries显示文摘Two robust precipitation reconstructions were conducted by combining tree-ring chronologies, dryness/wetness indices from historical documents, and climate data from the global grid. It was found that the recurrent drought history of a region can help us understand the variability of precipitation. Several dry/wet periods during the past four centuries and potential cycles of precipitation variation were determined. Furthermore, the reconstructions are not only consistent well with each other in North-central China, but also in good agreement with variations of precipitation in northeastern Mongolia, the Longxi area in Gangsu Province and the Dulan area of Qinghai Province, and the snow accumulation of the Guliya glacier. | 2 | Perspective of hydrogen energy and recent progress in electrocatalytic water splitting显示文摘As a secondary energy with great commercialization potential,hydrogen energy has been widely studied due to the high calorific value,clean combustion products and various reduction methods.At present,the blueprint of hydrogen energy economy in the world is gradually taking shape.Compared with the traditional high-energy consuming methane steam reforming hydrogen production method,the electrocatalytic water splitting hydrogen production stands out among other process of hydrogen production owning to the mild reaction conditions,high-purity hydrogen generation and sustainable production process.Basing on current technical economy situation,the highly electric power cost limits the further promotion of electrocatalytic water splitting hydrogen production process.Consequently,the rational design and development of low overpotential and high stability electrocatalytic water splitting catalysts are critical toward the realization of low-cost hydrogen production technology.In this review,we summarize the existing hydrogen production methods,elaborate the reaction mechanism of the electrocatalytic water splitting reaction under acidic and alkaline conditions and the recent progress of the respective catalysts for the two half-reactions.The structure-activity relationship of the catalyst was deep-going discussed,together with the prospects of electrocatalytic water splitting and the current challenges,aiming at provide insights for electrocatalytic water splitting catalyst development and its industrial applications. | Yixuan Gong Jiasai Yao Ping Wang Zhenxing Li Hongjun Zhou Chunming Xu | 2022 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2022,35,3: | 7 |
| 3 | Paleoenvironmental changes during the late Quaternary as inferred from foraminifera assemblages in the Laizhou Bay显示文摘Controlled by climate changes, there were three large-scale transgressions and regressions around the Bohai Sea during the late Quaternary, which were accepted by most geologists. However, a big controversy still exists about the time when the transgressions occurred separately. In order to find out the process of the paleoenvironmental changes around the Bohai Sea in the late Quaternary, the foraminifera assemblages from a new borehole Lz908 in the southern coast of the Laizhou Bay were studied, and then the transgressive strata were indentified. Combined with accelerator mass spectrometry radiocarbon 14C(AMS14C) and optically stimulated luminescence(OSL) ages, the occurrence time of these transgressions were re-determined. The result showed that three major large-scale transgressions occurred separately at the beginning of marine isotopic stage 7(MIS7), the last interglacial period(MIS5) and the Holocene. In addition, a small-scale transgression occurred in the mid-MIS6, and the corresponding transgressive stratum was deposited. The transgressive deposition of MIS3 was also discovered in this study. However, the characteristics of the foraminifera indicated the environment during this period was colder than that in the MIS5. | 4 | Petroleum Geology in Deepwater Settings in a Passive Continental Margin of a Marginal Sea:A Case Study from the South China Sea显示文摘Deepwater oil and gas exploration has become a global hotspot in recent years and the study of the deep waters of marginal seas is an important frontier research area.The South China Sea(SCS)is a typical marginal sea that includes Paleo SCS and New SCS tectonic cycles.The latter includes continental marginal rifting,intercontinental oceanic expansion and oceanic shrinking,which controlled the evolution of basins,and the generation,migration and accumulation of hydrocarbons in the deepwater basins on the continental margin of the northern SCS.In the Paleogene,the basins rifted along the margin of the continent and were filled mainly with sediments in marine-continental transitional environments.In the Neogene–Quaternary,due to thermal subsidence,neritic-abyssal facies sediments from the passive continental margin of the SCS mainly filled the basins.The source rocks include mainly Oligocene coal-bearing deltaic and marine mudstones,which were heated by multiple events with high geothermal temperature and terrestrial heat flow,resulting in the generation of gas and oil.The faults,diapirs and sandstones controlled the migration of hydrocarbons that accumulated principally in a large canyon channel,a continental deepwater fan,and a shelf-margin delta. | ZHANG Gongcheng FENG Congjun YAO Xingzong JI Mo YANG Haizhang QU Hongjun ZENG Qingbo ZHAO Zhao SUN Rui | 2021 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2021,95,1: | 6 |
| 5 | Two-dimensional self-organization of 1-nonanethiol-capped gold nanoparticles显示文摘A two-dimensional (2D) ordered hexagonal close-packed structure, formed by 1-nonanethiol-capped gold nanoparticles, is reported. The structure was constructed only by dipping the gold nanoparticle colloidal solution on flat substrate. The gold nanoparticles were synthesized as follows: First, AuCl4-1 was transferred from aqueous solution to toluene by the phase-transfer reagent of tetraoc-tylanunonium bromide. Then it was reduced with aqueous sodium borohydride in the presence of a given amount of 1-nonanethiol molecules which was used to control the nu-cleation and growth of the gold nanoparticles for the desired size. The experimental techniques, such as UV-Vis, FT-IR, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), were employed to characterize the obtained product. | 7 | Agricultural Risk Factors Influence Microbial Ecology in Honghu Lake显示文摘Agricultural activities, including stock-farming, planting industry, and fish aquaculture,can affect the physicochemical and biological characters of freshwater lakes. However, the effects of pollution producing by agricultural activities on microbial ecosystem of lakes remain unclear.Hence, in this work, we selected Honghu Lake as a typical lake that is influenced by agriculture activities. We collected water and sediment samples from 18 sites, which span a wide range of areas from impacted and less-impacted areas. We performed a geospatial analysis on the composition of microbial communities associated with physicochemical properties and antibiotic pollution of samples. The co-occurrence networks of water and sediment were also built and analyzed. Our results showed that the microbial communities of impacted and less-impacted samples of water were largely driven by the concentrations of TN, TP, NO_3^--N, and NO_2^--N, while those of sediment were affected by the concentrations of Sed-OM and Sed-TN. Antibiotics have also played important roles in shaping these microbial communities: the concentrations of oxytetracycline and tetracycline clearly reflected the variance in taxonomic diversity and predicted functional diversity between impacted and less-impacted sites in water and sediment samples, respectively. Furthermore, for samples from both water and sediment, large differences of network topology structures between impacted and less-impacted were also observed. | 8 | Estimating Seismic Intensity Maps of the 2021 Mw 7.3 Madoi,Qinghai and Mw 6.1 Yangbi,Yunnan,China Earthquakes显示文摘This study focuses on rapidly determining seismic intensity maps of earthquakes because it offers fundamental information for effective emergency rescue and subsequent scientific research,and remains challenging to accurately determine seismic intensity map in regions with sparse instrumental observations.Here we applied a novel method that consisted of array technology(backprojection),ground-motion prediction equations,and site corrections,to estimate the seismic intensity maps of the 2021 Mw 7.3 Madoi,Qinghai and the Mw 6.1 Yangbi,Yunnan,China earthquakes.We used seismic data recorded at European stations to back-project the source processes of the 2021 Mw7.3 Madoi,Qinghai and the Mw 6.1 Yangbi,Yunnan,China earthquakes.The back-projected energy radiations were then used as subevents or used to define the fault geometry.Summing the contributions of each subevent or estimating the shortest distances from each site to the rupture fault,we obtained the ground motion(PGA and PGV)for each site under rock site conditions.The estimated ground motions were corrected at each site for local site amplification according to the Vs30 database.Our estimated seismic intensity maps and field reports showed high similarity,which further validated the effectiveness of the novel approach,and pushed the limit of earthquake size down to~M 6.Such efforts would substantially help in the fast and accurate evaluation of earthquake damage,and precise rescue efforts. | Wenkai Chen Dun Wang Can Zhang Qiang Yao Hongjun Si | 2022 | Journal of Earth Science2022,33,4: | 2 |

| 19 | Neurturin gene cloning and expression in Vero cells显示文摘BACKGROUND:Transplantation of cell lines expressing neurturin(NTN) has been used to treat animal models of Parkinson's disease.However,gene homology between humans and rats varies greatly,so experimental results are not entirely suitable for understanding cellular transplantation in humans. OBJECTIVE:To explore expression of NTN in African green monkey kidney cells(Vero cells);to obtain a stably NTN expressing cell line. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:An observation study of gene engineering and cellular biology was performed at the Institute of Medical Biology,Chinese Academy of Medical Science and Peking Union Medical College between 2005 and 2008. MATERIALS:Human embryonic hepatic tissues,expression vector pcDNA3,and Vero cells were prepared in this laboratory.Primers were synthesized by TaKaRa Biotechnology,Dalian,China; RNA extraction kit and plasmid extraction kit were purchased from Shanghai Watson Bioengineering,China;G418 and MTT were purchased through Sigma,USA;Lipofectamine2000 was a product of Invitrogen,USA;mice anti-human NTN antibody and fluorescent labeling goat anti-mouse IgG antibody were provided by Jingmei Biotech,China. METHODS:Total RNA was harvested from human embryonic hepatic tissues,and NTN cDNA was cloned by RT-PCR method,followed by subcloning into the pcDNA3 eukaryotic expression vector.The obtained pcDNA3/hNTN was stably transfected into Vero cells using Lipofectamine 2000,and stably expressing clones were selected using G418. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:NTN mRNA and protein expressions were respectively identified by RT-PCR and immunofluorescence.The morphology of transfected cells was observed under inverted microscopy,and the growth characteristics of those cells were determined using MTT method. RESULTS:A clonal cell line,stably expressing human NTN mRNA and protein,was obtained through stable transfection of pcDNA3/hNTN into Vero cells.The transfected Vero cells exhibited irregular morphology,rather than a spindle shape.The growth retardation phase was prolonged, but the number of cells was identical to non-transfected cells. | 20 | Distribution of platelet-derived growth factor-alpha receptor expressing oligodendrocyte precursor cells in the adult rat brain显示文摘BACKGROUND: Studies have demonstrated that NG2-positive glial cells in the adult rats arepredominantly located in the gray and white matter of the cerebral cortex and hippocampus.Platelet-derived growth factor-α receptor (PDGF-αR) cells are a subset of oligodendrocytes, whichare not as mature as NG2-positive cells. Distribution and migration of PDGF-αR-positive cells in therat brain remain poorly understood.OBJECTIVE: Using immunohistochemical methods, the distribution of oligodendrocyte precursorcells (PDGF-αR-positive) was analyzed in the adult rat brain.DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: Immunohistochemical study was performed at the Department ofHistology and Embryology of the Third Military Medical University from September 2007 toSeptember 2008.MATERIALS: Rabbit anti-PDGF-αR polyclonal antibody was purchased from Santa CruzBiotechnology, USA. Streptomycin-avidin-biotin complex immunohistochemistry kit was purchasedfrom Zhongshan Goldenbridge Biotechnology, China.METHODS: Whole brains from 5 healthy, adult, Wistar rats were collected for immunohistochemistryand the mean value of PDGF-αR-expressing cells was quantified. The absolute values weretranslated to ranked data of high, moderate, and low grades (high grade: 10 positive cells; moderategrade: 5-9 cells; low grade: < 5 cells in a 400 x visual field). Based on the number of cell processesand branches, as well as the number of PDGF-αR-positive cells, in different regions, the cells wereclassified into three categories, i.e., type Ⅰ-Ⅲ. From type Ⅰ to type Ⅲ, the number of processesgradually increased.MAIN OUTCOME MEARSURES: The number and distribution of PDGF-αR-positive cells in differentbrain regions of adult rats.RESULTS: PDGF-αR-positive cells were located in the forebrain and midbrain, but not in thecerebellum or brainstem. In the olfactory bulb and hippocampus, a total of 60% PDGF-αR-positivecells were type I and these cells were not mature as others. In the cerebral cortex, olfactory system,hippocampus, and optic chiasma, where neuronal bodies aggregated, approximately 40% of thePDGF-αR-positive cells were type Ⅱ, with few type Ⅲ cells. In the white matter, corpus callosum,basal nucleus, and thalamus, PDGF-αR-positive cell density was moderate. In the olfactory bulb andhippocampus, PDGF-αR-positive cell density was high.
