Study of charge structure and radiation characteristic of intracloud discharge in thunderstorms of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau显示文摘The comprehensive observations on lightning discharges were conducted in Naqu area of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in summer of 2002. The electric structures of thunderstorms and the characteristics of lightning discharges at initial stage were analyzed by using the observation data. The results show that most of intracloud (IC) lightning flashes were polarities inverted in thunderstorms with tripole electric charge structure and occurred between negative charge region located in the middle of the thunderstorm and positive charge region located at the bottom of the thunderstorm. The radiation characteristics of discharge processes in cloud with longer lasting time involved in Cloud-to-Ground (CG) lightning flashes were similar to that of IC discharges.A lot of radiation pulses were produced in these discharge processes. Because the IC discharges took place at the bottom of thundercloud and were near the ground, they may produce more serious damage to equipment on the ground therefore should not be neglected in lightning protection.ZHAGN Yijun DONG Wansheng ZHAO Yang ZHANG Guangshu ZHANG Hongfa CHEN Chengpin ZHANG Tong 2004Science China Earth Sciences2004,47,z1:16
Community structure of macrobenthos in coastal water off Rushan, southern Shandong Peninsula, and the relationships with environmental factors显示文摘To understand the present actuality of the marine ecosystem in the southern coastal water region of the Shandong Peninsula and the impact of the global change and the human activities to the marine ecosystem of the region, the macrobenthic community structure was researched based on data from 26 sampling stations carried out on four seasonal cruises from December 2006 to November 2007. The data was analyzed using PRIMER 6.0 and SPSS 15.0 software packages. The results showed that 236 macrobenthic species in total were collected from the research region by the field works. Most of the species belong to Polychaeta (76 species), Mollusca (75) and Crustacea (60). Of which, 33 species were common species by the four cruises. The dominant species were different among the four seasons, however, the polychaete species Nephtys oligobranchia and Sternaspis scutata were always dominant in the four seasons. The abundances and biomasses of the macrobenthos from the research region were variable in the four seasons. The results of CLUSTER and MDS analysis showed that the similarities of macrobenthic structures among the stations were low, most of the similarities were at about 40% of similarity values, only that of two stations were up to 60%. In accordance with the similarity values of the macrobenthic structures, the 26 stations were clustered as six groups at arbitrary similarity level of 30%. The ABC curve indicated that the marcofauna communities in the research region had not been disturbed distinctly. The results of BIOENV and BVSTEP (Spearman) analysis implied that the concentrations of organic matter in bottom water and heavy metal copper in sediment, water depth and temperature of bottom were the most significant environmental factors to affect the macrobentic community.LI Xinzheng LI Baoquan WANG Hongfa WANG Jinbao WANG Xiaochen ZHOU Jin HAN Qingxi MA Lin DONG Chao ZHANG Baolin 2009Acta Oceanologica Sinica2009,28,5:14
Geological analysis and FT dating of the large-scale right-lateral strike-slip movement of the Red River fault zone显示文摘Tectonically, the large-scale right-lateral strike-slip movement along the Red River fault zone is char-acterized at its late phase with the southeastward extension and deformation of the Northwestern Yunnan normal fault depression on its northern segment, and the dextral shear displacement on its central-southern segment. Research of the relations between stratum deformation and fault movement on the typical fault segments, such as Jianchuan, southeast Midu, Yuanjiang River, Yuanyang, etc. since the Miocene Epoch shows that there are two times dextral faulting dominated by normal shearing occurring along the Red River fault zone since the Miocene Epoch. The fission track dating (abbrevi-ated to FT dating, the same below) is conducted on apatite samples collected from the above fault segments and relating to these movements. Based on the measured single grain’s age and the con-fined track length, we choose the Laslet annealing model to retrieve the thermal history of the samples, and the results show that the fault zone experienced two times obvious shear displacement, one in 5.5 ± 1.5 MaBP and the other in 2.1± 0.8 MaBP. The central-southern segment sees two intensive uplifts of mountain mass in the Yuanjiang River-Yuanyang region at 3.6―3.8 MaBP and 1.6―2.3 MaBP, which correspond to the above-mentioned two dextral normal displacement events since the late Miocene Epoch.XIANG HongFa WAN JingLin HAN ZhuJun GUO ShunMin ZHANG WanXia CHEN LiChun DONG XingQuan 2007Science China Earth Sciences2007,50,3:10
Electric field soundings and the charge structure within an isolated thunderstorm显示文摘A strong electric (E) field sounding system was designed to measure the vertical component of the E-fields, temperature, relative humidity and GPS data along the sounding path. In the summer of 2008, in situ measurements of E-field inside the thunderstorms were conducted in Pingliang, Gansu Provience, with the cooperation of an X-band weather radar. One E-field profile inside a thunderstorm was successfully acquired. The sounding data indicated four charge layers along the sounding trajectory, three in-side the thuderstorm and one at its lower boundary. The lower cloud boundary charge layer was negative, acting as a screening layer, and laid between 4.3 to 4.5 km a.s.l. The lower positive charge center (LPCC) existed between 4.5–5.3 km a.s.l. (from 3°C to -2°C); the main negative charge area was present between 5.4–6.6 km a.s.l. (-3°C to -10°C); the upper positive charge layer was between 6.7–7.2 km a.s.l. (-11°C to -14°C). The results support the tripole charge structure inside thunderstorms (above 0°C isotherm altitude), but the LPCC is much larger-than-usual in Chinese inland plateau.Zhao ZhongKuo Qie XiuShu Zhang TingLong Zhang Tong Zhang HongFa Wang Yong She Yong Sun BaoLai Wang HuaiBin 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,9:8

Formed in the Early-Middle Pleistocene, stili active in the late, it moves dextrally and extensionally. it tends to cut off the locked segments and discontinuous segments at first, then pervades totally along the zone, accompanied by strong earthguakes.QUO Shunmin XIANG Hongfa ZHOU Ruiqi XU Xiwei DONG Xingquan ZHANG Wanxia 2000Chinese Science Bulletin2000,45,4:5
Experimental and mesoscopic investigation on the dynamic properties of coral aggregate concrete in compression显示文摘To investigate the dynamic responses and comprehending the damage mechanism of coral aggregate concrete(CAC) in compression, both the experimental and numerical investigations were implemented in the present work. Firstly, the dynamic mechanical properties of CAC at different strain rates were tested through the Split-Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB) tests. Moreover, the effects of concrete strength grade and strain rate on CAC were discussed and analyzed. Subsequently, we developed the three-dimensional(3D) random mesoscale model considering the randomness of aggregate shape, size and distribution at meso-level, which was validated and employed in the numerical simulation of CAC in compression. The results indicate that the splitting failure passing through the coral aggregate is CAC’S primary failure mode. It has been found that the failure pattern, deformation process, and dynamic increasing factor of CAC are associated with both the strain rate and concrete strength grade. Furthermore, by comparing the experimental and mesoscopic results, it has been proven to be reliable to employ the developed 3D mesoscale modelling method to simulate CAC’s dynamic performances, which has enormous potential in future research of CAC under intense dynamic loadings.WU Zhang Yu ZHANG JinHua YU HongFa FANG Qin CHEN Li YUE ChengJun 2021Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,6:5
Wind tunnel simulation experiment and investigation on the electrification of sandstorms显示文摘Electric discharge phenomenon is often observed during the passage of sandstorms over desert regions and sometimes does great damage to human beings. Based on previous researches on the electrification of sandstorms by the scholars both at home and aboard, the authors conducted the simulation experiments on the electric fields of sandstorm-triggered creeping-saltating sand, suspending sand and watered suspending sand in the large-scale wind tunnel. According to the experimental results the electric field structure and its formation mechanism were analysed and discussed, the quantity of electric charges and electric field strengthwere measured and calculated, and finally several conclusions were drawn.QU Jianjun YAN Muhong DONG Guangrong ZHANG Hongfa ZU Ruiping TUO Wanquan ZHAO Aiguo XIAO Zhenghua LI Fang YANG Bao 2004Science China Earth Sciences2004,47,6:2

Mesoscopic Modeling Approach and Application for Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete under Dynamic Loading:A Review显示文摘Steel fiber reinforced concrete(SFRC)has drawn extensive attention in recent years for its superior mechanical response to dynamic and impact loadings.Based on the existing test results, the highstrength steel fibers embedded in a concrete matrix usually play a strong bridging effect to enhance the bonding force between fiber and the matrix, and directly contribute to the improvement of the post-cracking behavior and residual strength of SFRC.To gain a better understanding of the action behavior of steel fibers in matrix and further capture the failure mechanism of SFRC under dynamic loads, the mesoscopic modeling approach that assumes SFRC to be composed of different mesoscale phases(i.e.,steel fibers, coarse aggregates, mortar matrix, and interfacial transition zone(ITZ))has been widely employed to simulate the dynamic responses of SFRC material and structural members. This paper presents a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art mesoscopic models and simulations for SFRC under dynamic loading.Generation approaches for the SFRC mesoscale model in the simulation works, including steel fiber, coarse aggregate, and the ITZ between them, are reviewed and compared systematically. The material models for different phases and the interaction relationship between fiber and concrete matrix are summarized comprehensively.Additionally, some example applications for SFRC under dynamic loads(i.e.,compression,tension,and contact blast)simulated using the general mesoscale models are given. Finally, some critical analysis on the current shortcomings of the mesoscale modeling of SFRC is highlighted, which is of great significance for the future investigation and development of SFRC.Jinhua Zhang Zhangyu Wu Hongfa Yu Haiyan Ma Bo Da 2022Engineering2022,,9:1

Three-Dimensional Mesoscopic Investigation on the Impact of Specimen Geometry and Bearing Strip Size on the Splitting-Tensile Properties of Coral Aggregate Concrete显示文摘The use of coral aggregate concrete(CAC)as a novel construction material has attracted significant attention for the construction of reef engineering structures. To investigate the static splitting-tensile behaviors of CAC under the influence of two factors, namely specimen geometry and bearing strip size,a three-dimensional(3D)mesoscale modeling approach with consideration for aggregate randomness in shape and distribution was adopted in this study. We established 12 different specimen models with two specimen shapes(i.e.,a cube with an edge length of 150 mm and a cylinder with dimensions ofφ150 mm×300 mm)and six strip widths(i.e.,6,9,12,15,18,and 20 mm)for calculation. The effects of specimen geometry and strip width on the splitting-tensile properties of CAC,such as failure processes, final failure patterns, and splitting-tensile strength(fst),are analyzed and discussed systematically. The results indicate the high reliability of the developed mesoscale modeling approach and reveal the optimal computational parameters for simulating and predicting the splitting-tensile properties of CAC.The fstvalues of CAC are associated with both the specimen geometry and width of the bearing strip. The fstvalues of the cube model are slightly higher than those of the cylinder model for the same bearing strip size, representing geometry effects that can be explained by differences in fracture area.Additionally, the fstvalue of CAC gradually increases with the relative width of the bearing strip ranging from 0.04 to 0.13.Based on the elastic solution theory, the variation area of CAC fstvalues with the relative width of the bearing strip was determined preliminarily, which has great significance for studying the tensile performance of CAC.Zhangyu Wu Jinhua Zhang Hongfa Yu Qin Fang Haiyan Ma Li Chen 2022Engineering2022,,10:1

Ratiometric recognition of humidity by a europium-organic framework equipped with quasi-open metal site显示文摘Open metal site(OMS)seated in a luminescent lanthanide(Ln)metal center offers an opportunity for rationally tuning the spectroscopic behavior of lanthanide-organic frameworks aiming for a wide range of sensing applications. However, given the spherical nature of common coordination geometries of trivalent lanthanides and the generally strong Ln–O bonds, the lanthanide based OMS is rarely reported and difficult to be functionalized. We report here a unique europium-organic framework containing abundant quasi-OMS that is protected by an abnormal weak Eu–O bond. These quasi-OMSs offer reversible direct binding sites for water molecules probed by X-ray crystallography, leading to sensitive, visible, and ratiometric luminescent sensing toward humidity and water content in organic solvents. The specific recognition of water based on quasi-luminescentOMSs gives rise to a superior water detection limit down to 0.0003%v/v,which is one order of magnitude lower than that of Karl Fischer method.Wei Zhang Jian Xie Zhuyin Sui Zhijun Xu Xiaoze Wang Min Lei Hongfa Zhang Zhongyue Li Yanlong Wang Wei Liu Wei Du Shuao Wang 2021Science China Chemistry2021,64,10:1
