1Prevalence and Correlates of Elevated Blood Pressure in Chinese Children Aged 6-13 Years: a Nationwide School-Based Survey显示文摘Objective To estimate the prevalence of elevated blood pressure(EBP) in Chinese children and identify individual and family factors associated with EBP. Methods A nationwide cross-sectional study was conducted in 2010 using stratified cluster sampling. Participants' blood pressure was measured, and their parents completed a questionnaire on personal and family characteristics. Prevalence and correlates of EBP were assessed. Results Among a total of 24,333 participants, 20.2% of boys and 16.3% of girls had EBP. The prevalence of EBP increased with the ascending trend of waist circumference, Waist-to-height ratio, and body mass index. The adjusted prevalence ratios(aP Rs) for obese boys and girls were 2.50 and 2.97, respectively. Fewer urban boys(16.2%) had EBP than rural boys(21.7%). Boys with a family history of hypertension were 12% more likely to have EBP. Children whose mothers received a college education tended to have lower likelihood of EBP; with an aP R was 0.85 among boys and 0.78 among girls. Conclusion EBP is common among obese students and those who have a family history of hypertension. 2Impact of an innovative financing and payment model on tuberculosis patients'financial burden:is tuberculosis care more affordable for the poor?显示文摘Background:In response to the high financial burden of health services facing tuberculosis(TB)patients in China,the China-Gates TB project,PhaseⅡ,has implemented a new financing and payment model as an important component of the overall project in three cities in eastern,central and western China.The model focuses on increasing the reimbursement rate for TB patients and reforming provider payment methods by replacing fee-for-service with a case-based payment approach.This study investigated changes in out-of-pocket(OOP)health expenditure and the financial burden on TB patients before and after the interventions,with a focus on potential differential impacts on patients from different income groups.Methods:Three sample counties in each of the three prefectures:Zhenjiang,Yichang and Hanzhong were chosen as study sites.TB patients who started and completed treatment before,and during the intervention period,were randomly sampled and surveyed at the baseline in 2013 and final evaluation in 2015 respectively.OOP health expenditure and percentage of patients incurring catastrophic health expenditure(CHE)were calculated for different income groups.OLS regression and Iogit regression were conducted to explore the intervention's impacts on patient OOP health expenditure and financial burden after adjusting for other covariates.Key-informant interviews and focus group discussions were conducted to understand the reasons for any observed changes.Results:Data from 738(baseline)and 735(evaluation)patients were available for analysis.Patient mean OOP health expenditure increased from RMB 3576 to RMB 5791,and the percentage of patients incurring CHE also increased after intervention.The percentage increase in OOP health expenditure and the likelihood of incurring CHE were significantly lower for patients from the highest income group as compared to the lowest.Qualitative findings indicated that increased use of health services not covered by the standard package of the model was likely to have caused the increase in financial burden.Conclusions:The implementation of the new financing and payment model did not protect patients,especially those from the lowest income group,from financial difficulty,due partly to their increased use of health service.More financial resources should be mobilized to increase financial protection,particularly for poor patients,while cost containment strategies need to be developed and effectively implemented to improve the effective coverage of essential healthcare in China.Wei-Xi Jiang Qian Long Henry Lucas Di Dong Jia-Ying Chen Li Xiang Qiang Li Fei Huang Hong Wang Chris Elbers Frank Cobelens Sheng-Lan Tang 2019Infectious Diseases of Poverty2019,8,2:4

4Expression Patterns of Inducible Cre Recombinase Driven by Differential Astrocyte-Specific Promoters in Transgenic Mouse Lines显示文摘Astrocytes are the most abundant cell type in the central nervous system(CNS).They provide trophic support for neurons,modulate synaptic transmission and plasticity,and contribute to neuronal dysfunction.Many transgenic mouse lines have been generated to obtain astrocyte-specific expression of inducible Cre recombinase for functional studies;however,the expression patterns of inducible Cre recombinase in these lines have not been systematically characterized.We generated a new astrocyte-specific Aldh1 l1-CreER^(T2)knock-in mouse line and compared the expression pattern of Cre recombinase between this and five widely-used transgenic lines(hGfap-CreER^(T2)from The Jackson Laboratory and The Mutant Mouse Resource and Research Center,Glast-CreER^(T2),Cx30-CreER^(T2),and Fgfr3-iCreER^(T2))by crossing with Ai14 mice,which express tdTomato fluorescence following Cre-mediated recombination.In adult Aldh1 l1-CreER^(T2):Ai 14 transgenic mice,tdTomato was detected throughout the CNS,and five novel morphologicallydefined types of astrocyte were described.Among the six evaluated lines,the specificity of Cre-mediated recombination was highest when driven by Aldh1 l1 and lowest when driven by hGfap;in the latter mice,co-staining between tdTomato and NeuN was observed in the hippocampus and cortex.Notably,evident leakage was noted in Fgfr3-iCreER^(T2)mice,and the expression level of tdTomato was low in the thalamus when Cre recombinase expression was driven by Glast and in the capsular part of the central amygdaloid nucleus when driven by Cx30.Furthermore,tdTomato was clearly expressed in peripheral organs in four of the lines.Our results emphasize that the astrocyte-specific CreER^(T2)transgenic lines used in functional studies should be carefully selected.Neng-Yuan Hu Ya-Ting Chen Qian Wang Wei Jie Yi-Si Liu Qiang-Long You Ze-Lin Li Xiao-Wen Li Sophie Reibel Frank W.Pfrieger Jian-Ming Yang Tian-Ming Gao 2020Neuroscience Bulletin2020,36,5:3

6Synchrotron micro-scale measurement of metal distributions in Phragmites australis and Typha latifolia root tissue from an urban brownfield site显示文摘Liberty State Park in New Jersey,USA,is a 'brownfield' site containing various levels of contaminants.To investigate metal uptake and distributions in plants on the brownfield site,Phragmites australis and Typha latifolia were collected in Liberty State Park during the growing season(May–September)in 2011 at two sites with the high and low metal loads,respectively.The objective of this study was to understand the metal(Fe,Mn,Cu,Pb and Zn)concentration and spatial distributions in P.australis and T.latifolia root systems with micro-meter scale resolution using synchrotron X-ray microfluorescence(μXRF)and synchrotron X-ray computed microtomography(μCMT)techniques.The root structure measurement by synchrotron μCMT showed that high X-ray attenuation substance appeared in the epidermis.Synchrotron μXRF measurement showed that metal concentrations and distributions in the root cross-section between epidermis and vascular tissue were statistically different.Significant correlations were found between metals(Cu,Mn,Pb and Zn)and Fe in the epidermis,implying that metals were scavenged by Fe oxides.The results from this study suggest that the expression of metal transport and accumulation within the root systems may be element specific.The information derived from this study can improve our current knowledge of the wetland plant ecological function in brownfield remediation.Huan Feng Yu Qian Frank J.Gallagher Weiguo Zhang Lizhong Yu Changjun Liu Keith W.Jones Ryan Tappero 2016Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,3:3

9All-in-One Deposition to Synergistically Manipulate Perovskite Growth for High-Performance Solar Cell显示文摘Nonradiative recombination losses originating from crystallographic distortions and issues occurring upon interface formation are detrimental for the photovoltaic performance of perovskite solar cells.Herein,we incorporated a series of carbamide molecules(urea,biuret,or triuret)consisting of both Lewis base(-NH2)and Lewis acid(-C=O)groups into the perovskite precursor to simultaneously eliminate the bulk and interface defects.Depending on the different coordination ability with perovskite component,the incorporated molecules can either modify crystallization dynamics allowing for large crystal growth at low temperature(60℃),associate with antisite or undercoordinated ions for defect passivation,or accumulate at the surface as an energy cascade layer to enhance charge transfer,respectively.Synergistic benefits of the above functions can be obtained by rationally optimizing additive combinations in an all-in-one deposition method.As a result,a champion efficiency of 21.6%with prolonged operational stability was achieved in an inverted MAPbI3 perovskite solar cell by combining biuret and triuret additives.The simplified all-in-one fabrication procedure,adaptable to different types of perovskites in terms of pure MAPbI3,mixed perovskite,and all-inorganic perovskite,provides a cost-efficient and reproducible way to obtain high-performance inverted perovskite solar cells.Yifan Lv Hui Zhang Jinpei Wang Libao Chen Lifang Bian Zhongfu An Zongyao Qian Guoqi Ren Jie Wu Frank Nuesch Wei Huang 2020Research2020,,1:2

14The Giant Radio Array for Neutrino Detection(GRAND):Science and design显示文摘The Giant Radio Array for Neutrino Detection(GRAND)is a planned large-scale observatory of ultra-high-energy(UHE)cosmic particles,with energies exceeding 10~8 Ge V.Its goal is to solve the long-standing mystery of the origin of UHE cosmic rays.To do this,GRAND will detect an unprecedented number of UHE cosmic rays and search for the undiscovered UHE neutrinos and gamma rays associated to them with unmatched sensitivity.GRAND will use large arrays of antennas to detect the radio emission coming from extensive air showers initiated by UHE particles in the atmosphere.Its design is modular:20 separate,independent sub-arrays,each of 10000 radio antennas deployed over 10000 km^2.A staged construction plan will validate key detection techniques while achieving important science goals early.Here we present the science goals,detection strategy,preliminary design,performance goals,and construction plans for GRAND.Jaime Alvarez-Muniz Rafael Alves Batista Aswathi Balagopal V. 19Effects of dynamic flow rates on degradation deposition behavior of Mg scaffold显示文摘Degradability of bone tissue engineering scaffold that matching the regeneration rate could allow a complete replacement of host tissue.However,the porous structure of biodegradable Mg scaffolds certainly generated high specific surface area,and the three-dimensional interconnected pores provided fast pervasive invasion entrance for the corrosive medium,rising concern of the structural integrity during the degradation.To clarify the structural evolution of the three-dimensional(3D)porous structure,semi-static immersion tests were carried out to evaluate the degradation performance in our previous study.Nevertheless,dynamic immersion tests mimicking the in vivo circulatory fluid through the interconnected porous structure have yet been investigated.Moreover,the effects of dynamic flow rates on the degradation deposition behavior of 3D porous Mg scaffolds were rarely reported.In this study,Mg scaffolds degraded at three flow rates exhibited different degradation rates and deposition process.A flow rate of 0.5 m L/min introduced maximum drop of porosity by accumulated deposition products.The deposition products provided limited protection against the degradation process at a flow rate of 1.0 m L/min.The three-dimensional interconnected porous structure of Mg scaffold degraded at 2.0 m L/min well retained after 14 days showing the best interconnectivity resistance to the degradation deposition process.The dynamic immersion tests disclosed the reason for the different degradation rates on account of flow rates,which may bring insight into understanding of varied in vivo degradation rates related to implantation sites.Gaozhi Jia Meng Zhou Yicong Huang Chenxin Chen Liang Jin Qian Wu Jian Weng Fei Yu Ao Xiong Guangyin Yuan Frank Feyerabend Hui Zeng 2023Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2023,11,6:0
