1Brain-derived neurotrophic factor plasma levels and premature cognitive impairment/dementia in type 2 diabetes显示文摘AIM To assess the relationship of brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF) with cognitive impairment in patients with type 2 diabetes. METHODS The study included 40 patients with diabetes mellitus type 2(DM2), 37 patients with chronic kidney disease in hem dialysis hemodialysis therapy(HD) and 40 healthy subjects. BDNF in serum was quantified by ELISA. The Folstein Mini-Mental State Examination was used to evaluate cognitive impairment.RESULTS The patients with DM2 and the patients in HD were categorized into two groups, with cognitive impairment and without cognitive impairment. The levels of BDNF showed significant differences between patients with DM2(43.78 ± 9.05 vs 31.55 ± 10.24, P = 0.005). There were no differences between patients in HD(11.39 ± 8.87 vs 11.11 ± 10.64 P = 0.77); interestingly, ferritin levels were higher in patients with cognitive impairment(1564 ± 1335 vs 664 ± 484 P = 0.001). The comparison of BDNF values, using a Kruskal Wallis test, between patients with DM2, in HD and healthy controls showed statistical differences(P < 0.001).CONCLUSION Low levels of BDNF are associated with cognitive impairment in patients with DM2. 3Age,smoking and overweight contribute to the development of intestinal metaplasia of the cardia显示文摘AIM:To assess the role of Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori),gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD),age,smoking and body weight on the development of intestinal metaplasia of the gastric cardia(IMC).METHODS:Two hundred and seventeen patients scheduled for esophagogastroduodenoscopy were enrolled in this study.Endoscopic biopsies from the esophagus,gastroesophageal junction and stomach were evaluated for inflammation,the presence of H.pylori and intestinal metaplasia.The correlation of these factors with the presence of IMC was assessed using logistic regression.RESULTS:IMC was observed in 42% of the patients.Patient age,smoking habit and body mass index(BMI) were found as potential contributors to IMC.The risk of developing IMC can be predicted in theory by combining these factors according to the following formula:Risk of IMC = a + s-2B where a = 2,…6 decade of age,s = 0 for non-smokers or ex-smokers,1 for < 10 cigarettes/d,2 for > 10 cigarettes/d and B = 0 for BMI < 25 kg/m2(BMI < 27 kg/m2 in females),1 for BMI > 25 kg/m2(BMI > 27 kg/m2 in females).Among potential factors associated with IMC,H.pylori had borderline signif icance(P = 0.07),while GERD showed no signif icance.CONCLUSION:Age,smoking and BMI are potential factors associated with IMC,while H.pylori and GERD show no significant association.IMC can be predicted in theory by logistic regression analysis.Christian Felley Hanifa Bouzourene Marianne Bründler G VanMelle Antoine Hadengue Pierre Michetti Gian Dorta Laurent Spahr Emiliano Giostra Jean Louis Frossard 2012World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,17:5
4Atrophic gastritis: Risk factor for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma in a Latin-American population显示文摘AIM: To study the association between atrophic gastritis (AG) and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) in a Latin-America population. METHODS: A case-control study was performed at two reference Brazilian hospitals including patients diagnosed with advanced ESCC and dyspeptic patients who had been subjected to upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, with biopsies of the gastric antrum and body.All cases with ESCC were reviewed by a single pathologist, who applied standard criteria for the diagnosis of mucosal atrophy, intestinal metaplasia, and dysplasia, all classified as AG. The data on the patients' age, sex, smoking status, and alcohol consumption were collected from clinical records, and any missing information was completed by telephone interview. The association between AG and ESCC was assessed by means of univariate and multiple conditional logistic regressions. RESULTS: Most patients were male, and the median age was 59 years (range: 37-79 years) in both the ESCC and control groups. Univariate analysis showed that an intake of ethanol greater than 32 g/d was an independent risk factor that increased the odds of ESCC 7.57 times (P = 0.014); upon multiple analysis, alcohol intake of ethanol greater than 32 g/d exhibited a risk of 4.54 (P = 0.081), as adjusted for AG and smoking. Smoking was shown to be an independent risk factor that increased the odds of ESCC 14.55 times (P = 0.011) for individuals who smoked 0 to 51 packs/year and 21.40 times (P = 0.006) for those who smoked more than 51 packs/year. Upon multiple analyses, those who smoked up to 51 packs/year exhibited a risk of 7.85 (P = 0.058), and those who smoked more than 51 packs/ year had a risk 11.57 times higher (P = 0.04), as adjusted for AG and alcohol consumption. AG proved to be a risk factor that increased the odds of ESCC 5.33 times (95%CI: 1.55-18.30, P = 0.008) according to the results of univariate conditional logistic regression. 5Emerging vaccine nanotechnology: From defense against infection to sniping cancer显示文摘Looking retrospectively at the development of humanity, vaccination is an unprecedented medical landmark that saves lives by harnessing the human immune system. During the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) pandemic, vaccination is still the most effective defense modality. The successful clinical application of the lipid nanoparticle-based Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna mRNA COVID-19 vaccines highlights promising future of nanotechnology in vaccine development. Compared with conventional vaccines, nanovaccines are supposed to have advantages in lymph node accumulation,antigen assembly, and antigen presentation;they also have, unique pathogen biomimicry properties because of well-organized combination of multiple immune factors. Beyond infectious diseases, vaccine nanotechnology also exhibits considerable potential for cancer treatment. 6CuPd催化剂调节中间反应能垒提高电催化CO_(2)生成二碳产物的选择性显示文摘过度的碳排放已造成了严重的全球环境问题,电催化CO_(2)还原是一种利用间歇性过剩电能将CO_(2)转化为有价值的化学物质的有效策略.在多种CO_(2)还原产物中,二碳(C2)产物(如乙烯、乙醇)因其比一碳产物(如甲酸、甲烷、甲醇)具有更高的能量密度而备受关注.Cu是唯一能用电化学方法将CO_(2)转化为多碳产物的单金属催化剂.如何提高Cu基催化剂上CO_(2)还原为C2产物的效率已引起了极大关注.电催化还原CO_(2)生成C2产物有两个重要步骤:一是参与碳碳偶联反应的CO*中间体的量(*代表中间体吸附在基底表面),二是碳碳偶联步骤的能垒.对于Cu单金属催化剂,虽然其表面碳碳偶联步骤的能垒相对较低,但是Cu对CO_(2)的吸附能力和CO_(2)*加氢能力并不高,导致在Cu表面不能生成足量的CO*中间体参与碳碳偶联反应,因而对C2产物的选择性和活性并不理想.与Cu单金属催化剂相反,在Pd单金属催化剂表面,CO*中间体的形成具有超快的反应动力学,但是CO*易在Pd表面中毒且后续碳碳偶联步骤的能垒极高,使其表面不能生成C2产物.为了充分发挥Cu(碳碳偶联步骤能垒较低)和Pd(CO*形成具有超快反应动力学)的双重优势,本文构建了一种紧密的CuPd(100)界面,以调节中间反应能垒,从而提高C2产率.密度泛函理论(DFT)计算表明,CuPd(100)界面增强了CO_(2)的吸附,且降低了CO_(2)*加氢步骤的能垒,从而能够催化生成更多的CO*中间体参与碳碳偶联反应.且CuPd(100)界面上CO_(2)还原为C2产物的电位决定步骤能垒为0.61 eV,低于Cu(100)表面的(0.72 eV).本文采用了一种简便的湿化学法制备了CuPd(100)界面催化剂.X射线衍射和X射线光电子能谱测试以及扩展X射线吸收精细结构光谱结果表明,合成的是相分离的CuPd双金属催化剂,而非CuPd合金催化剂.同时高分辨透射电镜可以观察到清晰的CuPd(100)界面.由此可见,本文成功合成了CuPd(100)界面催化剂.程序升温脱附实验结果表明,CuPd(100)界面对CO_(2)和CO*的吸附比Cu强,结果与理论预测一致.气体传感实验结果表明,CuPd(100)界面CO_(2)*加氢能力比Cu强.为评估CuPd(100)界面催化剂的催化活性,进行了CO_(2)电化学还原实验.结果表明,在0.1 mol/L的KHCO3电解液中,CuPd(100)界面催化剂在‒1.4 VRHE下,C2产物的法拉第效率为50.3%±1.2%,是同电位下Cu催化剂的(23.6%±1.5%)的2.1倍,C2产物的选择性是Cu催化剂的2.4倍,且具有更高的电流密度和更大的电化学活性面积.本文通过调控中间反应能垒以合理设计铜基CO_(2)还原电催化剂提供了参考.朱莉 林翌阳 刘康 Emiliano Cortés 李红梅 胡俊华 Akira Yamaguchi 刘小良 Masahiro Miyauchi 傅俊伟 刘敏 2021Chinese Journal of Catalysis2021,42,9:4

8Cross-Layer Framework for Fine-Grained Channel Access in Next Generation High-Density Wi Fi Networks显示文摘Densely deployed Wi Fi networks will play a crucial role in providing the capacity for next generation mobile internet. However, due to increasing interference, overlapped channels in Wi Fi networks and throughput efficiency degradation, densely deployed Wi Fi networks is not a guarantee to obtain higher throughput. An emergent challenge is how to effi ciently utilize scarce spectrum resources, by matching physical layer resources to traffi c demand. In this aspect, access control allocation strategies play a pivotal role but remain too coarse-grained. As a solution, this research proposes a flexible framework for fine-grained channel width adaptation and multi-channel access in Wi Fi networks. This approach, named SFCA(Subcarrier Fine-grained Channel Access), adopts DOFDM(Discontinuous Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) at the PHY layer. It allocates the frequency resource with a subcarrier granularity, which facilitates the channel width adaptation for multi-channel access and thus brings more fl exibility and higher frequency efficiency. The MAC layer uses a frequencytime domain backoff scheme, which combines the popular time-domain BEB scheme with a frequency-domain backoff to decrease access collision, resulting in higher access probability for the contending nodes. SFCA is compared with FICA(an established access scheme)showing significant outperformance.
