| 1 | Mapping wetland changes in China between 1978 and 2008显示文摘Four wetland maps for all China have been produced,based on Landsat and CBERS-02B remote sensing data between 1978 and 2008 (1978,1990,2000 and 2008).These maps were mainly developed by manual interpretation and validated by substantial field investigation in 2009.Based on these maps,we analyzed the 2008 wetland distribution in China and discussed wetland changes and their drivers over the past 30 years.(i) There were about 324097 km 2 of wetlands in 2008,for which inland marshes or swamps were the most common wetland type (35%),with lakes (26%) second.Most of the wetlands were in Heilongjiang,Inner Mongolia,Qinghai and Tibet,occupying about 55% of the national wetland area.(ii) From 1978 to 2008,China's wetland area continually and significantly decreased,by about 33% based on changes in the wetland map.This was in sharp contrast to the increase in artificial wetlands,which increased by about 122%.Inland marshes accounted for the main loss of total wetlands from 1978 to 2000.From 2000 through 2008,riverine and lacustrine wetlands constituted the main wetland loss.Fortunately however,the rate of wetland loss decreased from 5523 to 831 km 2 /a.(iii) The change ratio of lost natural wetlands (including inland and coastal wetlands) to non-wetlands has decreased slightly over the past 30 years.From 1978 to 1990,nearly all natural wetlands (98%) lost were transformed into non-wetlands.However,the ratio declined to 86% from 1990 to 2000,and to 77% from 2000 to 2008.(iv) All Chinese provinces were divided into three groups according to patterns of wetland changes,which could relate to the driving forces of such changes.Tibet was completely different from other provinces,as it was one representative example in which there was a net wetland increase,because of global warming and decreased human activity since 1990.Increased economic development caused considerable wetland loss in most eastern provinces,and artificial wetlands increased. | NIU ZhenGuo ZHANG HaiYing WANG XianWei YAO WenBo ZHOU DeMin ZHAO KuiYi ZHAO Hui LI NaNa HUANG HuaBing LI CongCong YANG Jun LIU CaiXia LIU Shuang WANG Lin LI Zhan YANG ZhenZhong QIAO Fei ZHENG YaoMin CHEN YanLei SHENG YongWei GAO XiaoHong ZHU WeiHong WANG WenQing WANG Hong WENG YongLing ZHUANG DaFang LIU JiYuan LUO ZhiCai CHENG Xiao GUO ZiQi GONG Peng | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,22: | 51 |
| 2 | VIBRATION ANALYSIS OF TURBINE BASED ON FLUID-STRUCTURE COUPLING显示文摘The vibration of a Francis turbine is analyzed with the additional quality matrix method based on fluid-structure coupling (FSC). Firstly, the vibration frequency and mode of blade and runner in air and water are calculated. Secondly, the influences to runner frequency domain by large fow, small flow and design flow working conditions are compared. Finally the influences to runner modes by centrifugal forces under three rotating speeds of 400 r/min, 500 r/min and 600 r/min are compared. The centrifugal force and small flow working condition have greatly influence on the vibration of small runner. With the increase of centrifugal force, the vibration frequency of the runner is sharply increased. Some order frequencies are even close to the runner natural frequency in the air. | 3 | Unstable flow characteristics in a pump-turbine simulated by a modified Partially-Averaged Navier-Stokes method显示文摘Positive slope characteristics are very important for the safe and stable operation of a pump-turbine. In this study, the unsteady flows in a pump-turbine at pump mode are investigated numerically. To predict the positive slope characteristics with an improved accuracy, a modified Partially-Averaged Navier-Stokes(MPANS) model is employed to capture the unstable physics in a pump-turbine. It is confirmed that the present numerical method predicts the positive slope characteristics in the pumpturbine fairly well compared with the experimental data. It is noted that at the drooping point of the performance curve(positive slope), there are three sets of rotating stall cells in the flow passages of both the guide vanes and stay vanes. In the guide vane region, the flow is completely shut off by the rotating stall, whereas in the stay vane region, the flow passage is partly blocked at the drooping point. The numerical results also reveal that the remarkable variation and high angle of attack(AOA) values upstream the leading edge of the guide vane contribute to the flow separation at the vane suction side and induce rotating stall in the flow passage within the positive slope region. Furthermore, the propagation of the rotating stall is depicted by both Eulerian and Lagrangian viewpoints: the rotating stall blocks the flow passage between two neighboring guide vanes and pushes the flow toward the leading edge of the subsequent guide vane. | 5 | Experimental Investigation of Inter-Blade Vortices in a Model Francis Turbine显示文摘The inter-blade vortex in a Francis turbine becomes one of the main hydraulic factors that are likely to cause blade erosion at deep part load operating conditions. However, the causes and the mechanism of interblade vortex are still under investigation according to present researches. Thus the causes of inter-blade vortex and the effect of different hydraulic parameters on the inter-blade vortex are investigated experimentally. The whole life cycle of the inter-blade vortex is observed by a high speed camera. The test results illustrate the whole life cycle of the inter-blade vortex from generation to separation and even to fading. It is observed that the interblade vortex becomes stronger with the decreasing of flow and head, which leads to pressure fluctuation. Meanwhile,the pressure fluctuations in the vane-less area and the draft tube section become stronger when inter-blade vortices exist in the blade channel. The turbine will be damaged if operating in the inter-blade vortex zone, so its operating range must be far away from that zone. | 6 | Structure of different types of coal metamorphism by HTEM显示文摘In order to discuss the effect of tectonic stress on the structural evolution of coal, given the importance attached to High-resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HTEM), we investigated several aspects of material structures of high-rank Carboniferous period coal, located in the northern foreland basin of the Dabie orogenic belt in eastern China. High powered crystal lattice images of Bright Fields (BF) and Selected Area Diffraction patterns (SAD) of different types of metamorphism in coal were obtained. The results show that the Basic Structural Units (BSU) become increasingly more compact as a function of rising tem-perature and pressure. | 10 | The temporal dynamics of antimicrobial-resistant Salmonella enterica and predominant serovars in China显示文摘Salmonella enterica is one of the most common bacterial pathogens in humans and animals.Systematic studies on the trends and geographical distribution of antimicrobial-resistant Salmonella and dominant serovars have been well studied in European and American countries while not in China.Here,taking the One-Health strategy,we used>35000 Salmonella enterica isolates to explore the temporal and spatial dynamics of dominant serovars in China.We found that Salmonella Typhimurium was the dominant serovar causing human infection in China,which was consistent with Australia but inconsistent with North American and European countries.The proportion of Salmonella serovars Typhimurium,London,Rissen,Corvallis,Meleagridis,Kentucky,and Goldcoast showed an increasing trend during 2006-2019.We randomly selected 1962 isolates for comparative genomics and antimicrobial resistance studies and found that the number of antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs)per isolate increased 1.84 and 2.69 times of human and non-human origins,respectively,spanning 14 years.The proportion of antimicrobial-resistant Salmonella isolates had an increasing trend during 2006-2019,especially beta-lactam,quinolone,tetracycline,and rifampicin resistance.Moreover,we found that higher diversity of sequence types(STs)in S.Typhimurium than in other serovars,ST34 from pig and ST 19 from chicken origin,were mainly associated with isolates causing child and adult gastro-infection,respectively.Our results fill in the data gap on the trends of dominant serovars and antimicrobial resistance of Salmonella enterica in China.These data provide useful information for public health decision-makers prioritizing interventions for foodborne diseases and food safety. | Yanan Wang Yue Liu Na Lyu Zhiyuan Li Sufang Ma Demin Cao Yuanlong Pan Yongfei Hu Hua Huang George F.Gao Xuebin Xu Baoli Zhu | 2023 | National Science Review2023,10,3: | 4 |

| 12 | Experimental and computational investigations of LaNi(5-x)Alx (x = 0,0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1.0) tritium-storage alloys显示文摘Although already scientists in recent years have reported some experimental and theoretical results of LaNi-Al series of tritium-storage alloys, several key aspects remain the subject of considerable debate. In an effort to interpret some of these unknowns, we have performed experimental and theoretical investigations for LaNi_(5-x)Al_x(x = 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1.0) tritium-storage alloys. Firstly, the XRD characterization indicates that the unit cell volumes of LaNi_(5-x)Al_x increase with Al content in alloys. Secondly, the PCisotherm measurement of LaNi_(5-x)Al_xalloys shows that their hydrogen absorption/desorption plateau pressures reduce with the increase of Al content while their plateau widths narrow simultaneously. The deuterium absorption/desorption plateaus have a similar trend to hydrogen's except for their plateaus being higher than hydrogen's. To explain the above experimental findings, a series of calculations based on density functional theory(DFT) and frozen phonon approach have been performed. The results manifest that:(1) the partial substitutions of Al for Ni reduce the hydrogen formation energies of LaNi_(5-x)Al_xH and the number of available interstitial sites, and therefore lead to the absorption/desorption plateau pressures being reduced and the plateau widths being narrowed down at the same experimental temperatures;(2) the covalent interaction between H and Ni is an important factor for estimating the stability of LaNi_(5-x)Al_x-H system;(3) since the calculated enthalpy change H is generally more accurate than the calculated entropy change S with respect to the corresponding experimental value for each LaNi_(5-x)Al_xH(or D), the curves of H vs. hydrogen storage capacity instead of Van't Hoff relation, can be used to predict the experimental plateau pressures of LaNi_(5-x)Al_x-H(D or T) at a given temperature;(4) the hydrogen isotope effect of LaNi_(5-x)Al_x-H(D or T) system can be quantitatively described as a linearity relation between ⊿ZPE + ⊿H^(vib) and 1/√mQ(Q = H, D, T). From the good agreement between the predicted and experimental ln(P_H/P_0) and ln(P_D/P_0), it is deduced that predicting ln(P_T/P_0) of LaNi_(5-x)Al_x T is feasible. | 13 | Numerical predictions and stability analysis of cavitating draft tube vortices at high head in a model Francis turbine显示文摘Draft tube vortex is one of the main causes of hydraulic instability in hydraulic reaction turbines,in particular Francis turbines.A method of cavitation calculations was proposed to predict the pressure fluctuations induced by draft tube vortices in a model Francis turbine,by solving RANS equations with RNG k-turbulence model and ZGB cavitation model,with modified turbulence viscosity.Three cases with different flow rates at high head were studied.In the study case of part load,two modes of revolutions with the same rotating direction,revolution around the axis of the draft tube cone,and revolution around the core of the vortex rope,can be recognized.The elliptical shaped vortex rope causes anisotropic characteristics of pressure fluctuations around the centerline of the draft tube cone.By analyzing the phase angles of the pressure fluctuations,the role of the vortex rope as an exciter in the oscillating case can be recognized.An analysis of Batchelor instability,i.e.instability in q-vortex like flow structure,has been carried out on the draft tube vortices in these three cases.It can be concluded that the trajectory for study case with part load lies in the region of absolute instability(AI),and it lies in the region of convective instability(CI)for study case with design flow rate.Trajectory for study case with over load lies in the AI region at the inlet of the draft tube,and enters CI region near the end of the elbow. | ZUO ZhiGang LIU ShuHong LIU DeMin QIN DaQing | 2014 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,11: | 2 |
| 14 | Effects of soil amendments, foliar sprayings of silicon and selenium and their combinations on the reduction of cadmium accumulation in rice显示文摘Agricultural soil contamination by cadmium (Cd) is becoming one of the most serious environmental issues and public concerns. In this study, factorial arrangements of treatments were designed to explore the effects of two soil amendments, sodium sulfide-biofuel ash (SSBA) and lime (0.1%), and three foliar applications, silicon (Si, 2.5 mmol L-1), selenium (Se, 40 mg L-1), and their combination (SS), on Cd reduction in rice (Oryza sativa L.) in a pot experiment, which were then verified in a field experiment. Compared with the control without amendment but with spraying of deionized water, both SSBA and lime significantly reduced concentrations of CaCl2-extractable Cd in soil by 30%–39% and 31%–40% and Cd in brown rice by 44%–63% and 53%–72% in the pot and field experiments, respectively. Foliar Si, Se, and SS applications significantly reduced Cd accumulation in brown rice by 62%–64%, 72%–83%, and 39%–73%, respectively, increased rice grain yield, and improved antioxidant enzyme activities in rice leaves but with different trends in the pot and field experiments. Combinations of SSBA and lime with Si, Se, and SS had a non-significant synergistic effect on Cd reduction in brown rice compared to only foliar spraying or soil amendment in both pot and field experiments, although SSBA + Se and SSBA + Si reduced Cd concentration in brown rice by 16%–34% and 14%–24% compared to only foliar Si and Se and soil SSBA applications, respectively. Soil lime application and foliar Si spraying were the most cost-effective strategies to reduce Cd accumulation in brown rice in the field and pot experiments, respectively. | 15 | Stability and local bifurcation of parameter-excited vibration of pipes conveying pulsating fluid under thermal loading显示文摘The parametric excited vibration of a pipe under thermal loading may occur because the fluid is often transported heatedly. The effects of thermal loading on the pipe stability and local bifurcations have rarely been studied. The stability and the local bifurcations of the lateral parametric resonance of the pipe induced by the pulsating fluid velocity and the thermal loading are studied. A mathematical model for a simply supported pipe is developed according to the Hamilton principle. Two partial differential equations describing the lateral and longitudinal vibration are obtained. The singularity theory is utilized to analyze the stability and the bifurcation of the system solutions. The transition sets and the bifurcation diagrams are obtained both in the unfolding parameter space and the physical parameter space, which can reveal the relationship between the thermal field parameter and the dynamic behaviors of the pipe. The frequency response and the relationship between the critical thermal rate and the pulsating fluid velocity are obtained. The numerical results demonstrate the accuracy of the single-mode expansion of the solution and the stability and local bifurcation analyses. It also confirms the existence of the chaos. | 16 | Maximum Data Collection Rate in Rechargeable Wireless Sensor Networks with Multiple Sinks显示文摘In rechargeable wireless sensor networks, a sensor cannot be always benefi cial to conserve energy when a network can harvest excessive energy from the environment due to its energy replenished continually and limited energy storage capacity. Therefore, surplus energy of a node can be utilized for strengthening packet delivery efficiency and improving data collection rate. In this work, we propose an algorithm to compute an upper data generation rate that maximizes it as an optimization problem for a network with multiple sinks, which is formulated as a linear programming problem. Subsequently, a dual problem by introducing Lagrange multipliers is constructed, and subgradient algorithms are used to solve it in a distributed manner. The resulting algorithms are guaranteed to converge to an optimal data generation rate, which are illustrated by an example in which an optimum data generation rate is computed for a network of randomly distributed nodes. Finally, numerical experiments using a Taylor-Hood mixed element built on a structured or unstructured triangular mesh are implemented. | 19 | CD38 deficiency alleviates Ang II-induced vascular remodeling by inhibiting small extracellular vesicle-mediated vascular smooth muscle cell senescence in mice显示文摘CD38 is the main enzyme for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD)degradation in mammalian cells.Decreased NAD levels are closely related to metabolic syndromes and aging-related diseases.Our study showed that CD38 deficiency significantly alleviated angiotensin II(Ang ll)-induced vascular remodeling in mice,as shown by decreased blood pressures;reduced vascular media thickness,media-to-lumen ratio,and collagen deposition;and restored elastin expression.However,our bone marrow transplantation assay showed that CD38 deficiency in lymphocytes led to lack of protection against Ang ll-induced vascular remodeling,suggesting that the effects of CD38 on Ang ll-induced vascular remodeling might rely primarily on vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMCs),not lymphocytes.In addition,we observed that CD38 deficiency or NAD supplementation remarkably mitigated Ang ll-induced vascular senescence by suppressing the biogenesis,secretion,and internalization of senescence-associated small extracellular vesicles(SA-sEVs),which facilitated the senescence of neighboring non-damaged VSMCs.Furthermore,we found that the protective effects of CD38 deficiency on VSMC senescence were related to restoration of lysosome dysfunction,particularly with respect to the maintenance of sirtuin-mediated mitochondrial homeostasis and activation of the mitochondria-lysosomal axis in VSMCs.In conclusion,our findings demonstrated that CD38 and its associated intracellular NAD decline are critical for Ang ll-induced VSMC senescence and vascular remodeling. | Lu Gan Demin Liu Jing Liu Erya Chen Chan Chen Lian Liu Hang Hu Xiaohui Guan Wen Ma Yanzi Zhang Yarong He Bofu Liu Songling Tang Wei Jiang Jianxin Xue Hongbo Xin | 2021 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2021,6,7: | 2 |
