| 1 | Neuroprotective effect of penehyclidine hydrochloride on focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury显示文摘Penehyclidine hydrochloride can promote microcirculation and reduce vascular permeability. However, the role of penehyclidine hydrochloride in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury remains unclear. In this study, in vivo middle cerebral artery occlusion models were established in experimental rats, and penehyclidine hydrochloride pretreatment was given via intravenous injection prior to model establishment. Tetrazolium chloride, terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated deoxyuridine triphosphate-biotin nick end labeling and immunohistochemical staining showed that, penehyclidine hydrochloride pretreatment markedly attenuated neuronal histopathological changes in the cortex, hippocampus and striatum, reduced infarction size, increased the expression level of Bcl-2, decreased the expression level of caspase-3, and inhibited neuronal apoptosis in rats with cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. Xanthine oxidase and thiobarbituric acid chromogenic results showed that penehyclidine hydrochloride upregulated the activity of superoxide dismutase and downregulated the concentration of malondialdehyde in the ischemic cerebral cortex and hippocampus, as well as reduced the concentration of extracellular excitatory amino acids in rats with cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. In addition, penehyclidine hydrochloride inhibited the expression level of the NR1 subunit in hippocampal nerve cells in vitro following oxygen-glucose deprivation, as detected by PCR. | 2 | Spatial pattern of grassland aboveground biomass and its environmental controls in the Eurasian steppe显示文摘Vegetation biomass is an important component of terrestrial ecosystem carbon stocks. Grasslands are one of the most widespread biomes worldwideplaying an important role in global carbon cycling. Thereforestudying spatial patterns of biomass and their correlations to environment in grasslands is fundamental to quantifying terrestrial carbon budgets. The Eurasian steppean important part of global grasslandsis the largest and relatively well preserved grassland in the world. In this studywe analyzed the spatial pattern of aboveground biomass(AGB)and correlations of AGB to its environment in the Eurasian steppe by meta-analysis. AGB data used in this study were derived from the harvesting method and were obtained from three data sources(literatureglobal NPP database at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Distributed Active Archive Center(ORNL)some data provided by other researchers). Our results demonstrated that:(1) as for the Eurasian steppe overallthe spatial variation in AGB exhibited significant horizontal and vertical zonality. In detailAGB showed an inverted parabola curve with the latitude and with the elevationwhile a parabola curve with the longitude. In additionthe spatial pattern of AGB had marked horizontal zonality in the Black Sea-Kazakhstan steppe subregion and the Mongolian Plateau steppe subregionwhile horizontal and vertical zonality in the Tibetan Plateau alpine steppe subregion.(2) Of the examined environmental variablesthe spatial variation of AGB was related to mean annual precipitation(MAP)mean annual temperature(MAT)mean annual solar radiation(MAR)soil Gravel contentsoil p H and soil organic content(SOC) at the depth of 0–30 cm. NeverthelessMAP dominated spatial patterns of AGB in the Eurasian steppe and its three subregions.(3) A Gaussian function was found between AGB and MAP in the Eurasian steppe overallwhich was primarily determined by unique patterns of grasslands and environment in the Tibetan Plateau. AGB was significantly positively related to MAP in the Black Sea-Kazakhstan steppe subregion(elevation < 3000 m)the Mongolian Plateau steppe subregion(elevation < 3000 m) and the surface(elevation ≥ 4800 m) of the Tibetan Plateau. Neverthelessthe spatial variation in AGB exhibited a Gaussian function curve with the increasing MAP in the east and southeast margins(elevation < 4800 m) of the Tibetan Plateau. | 3 | Macrophage-derived small extracellular vesicles promote biomimetic mineralized collagen-mediated endogenous bone regeneration显示文摘Macrophages play an important role in material-related immune responses and bone formation,but the functionality of macrophage-derived extracellular vesicles(EVs)in material-mediated bone regeneration is still unclear.Here,we evaluated intracellular communication through small extracellular vesicles(sEVs)and its effects on endogenous bone regeneration mediated by biomimetic intrafibrillarly mineralized collagen(IMC).After implantation in the bone defect area,IMC generated more neobone and recruited more mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)than did extrafibrillarly mineralized collagen(EMC).More CD63+CD90+and CD63+CD163+cells were detected in the defect area in the IMC group than in the EMC group.To determine the functional roles of sEVs,extracellular vesicles from macrophages cultured on different mineralized collagen were isolated,and they showed no morphological differences.However,macrophage-derived sEVs in the IMC group showed an enhanced Young’s modulus and exerted beneficial effects on the osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow MSCs by increasing the expression of the osteoblastic differentiation markers BMP2,BGLAP,COL1,and OSX and calcium nodule formation.Mechanistically,sEVs from IMC-treated macrophages facilitated MSC osteogenesis through the BMP2/Smad5 pathway,and blocking sEV secretion with GW4869 significantly impaired MSC proliferative,immunomodulative and osteogenic potential.Taken together,these findings show that macrophage-derived sEVs may serve as an emerging functional tool in biomaterial-mediated endogenous bone regeneration. | Anqi Liu Shanshan Jin Cuicui Fu Shengji Cui Ting Zhang Lisha Zhu Yu Wang Steve G.F.Shen Nan Jiang Yan Liu | 2020 | International Journal of Oral Science2020,12,4: | 5 |

| 5 | All-optical computing based on convolutional neural networks显示文摘The rapid development of information technology has fueled an ever-increasing demand for ultrafast and ultralow-en-ergy-consumption computing.Existing computing instruments are pre-dominantly electronic processors,which use elec-trons as information carriers and possess von Neumann architecture featured by physical separation of storage and pro-cessing.The scaling of computing speed is limited not only by data transfer between memory and processing units,but also by RC delay associated with integrated circuits.Moreover,excessive heating due to Ohmic losses is becoming a severe bottleneck for both speed and power consumption scaling.Using photons as information carriers is a promising alternative.Owing to the weak third-order optical nonlinearity of conventional materials,building integrated photonic com-puting chips under traditional von Neumann architecture has been a challenge.Here,we report a new all-optical comput-ing framework to realize ultrafast and ultralow-energy-consumption all-optical computing based on convolutional neural networks.The device is constructed from cascaded silicon Y-shaped waveguides with side-coupled silicon waveguide segments which we termed“weight modulators”to enable complete phase and amplitude control in each waveguide branch.The generic device concept can be used for equation solving,multifunctional logic operations as well as many other mathematical operations.Multiple computing functions including transcendental equation solvers,multifarious logic gate operators,and half-adders were experimentally demonstrated to validate the all-optical computing performances.The time-of-flight of light through the network structure corresponds to an ultrafast computing time of the order of several picoseconds with an ultralow energy consumption of dozens of femtojoules per bit.Our approach can be further expan-ded to fulfill other complex computing tasks based on non-von Neumann architectures and thus paves a new way for on-chip all-optical computing. | Kun Liao Ye Chen Zhongcheng Yu Xiaoyong Hu Xingyuan Wang Cuicui Lu Hongtao Lin Qingyang Du Juejun Hu Qihuang Gong | 2021 | Opto-Electronic Advances2021,4,11: | 3 |
| 6 | Determination of triglycerides in human serum by near-infrared diffuse reflectance spectroscopy using silver mirror as a substrate显示文摘Near infrared diffuse reflectance spectroscopy(NIRDRS) has gained wide attention due to its convenience for rapid quantitative analysis of complex samples. A method for rapid analysis of triglycerides in human serum using NIRDRS with silver mirror as the substrate is developed. Due to the even and high reflectance of the silver mirror, the spectral response is enhanced and the background interference is reduced.Furthermore, both linear and nonlinear modeling strategies were investigated adopting the partial least squares(PLS) and least squares support vector regression(LS-SVR), continuous wavelet transform(CWT)was used for spectral preprocessing, and variable selection was tried using Monte Carlo uninformative variable elimination(MC-UVE), randomization test(RT) and competitive adaptive reweighted sampling(CARS) for optimization the models. The results show that the determination coefficient(R) between the predicted and reference concentration is 0.9624 and the root mean squared error of prediction(RMSEP) is 0.21. The maximum deviation of the prediction results is as low as 0.473 mmol/L. | 12 | NIR-responsive Collagen-based Sponge Coated with Polydimethylsiloxane/Candle Soot for Oil-Water Separation显示文摘To fabricate an oil-water separation material that is rich in source,eco-friendly,and responsive,in this study,we successfully developed a collagen-based sponge for application to oil-water separation based on a green and facile strategy.In this design,widely-available collagen(COL)was used as the substrate:it was immersed in polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)suspension with candle soot(CS)nanoparticles,followed by hot curing.The resultant sponge(CS/PDMS-COL)possessed good hydrophobicity with a water contact angle of 148.3°under a low PDMS concentration of 2%.The results from field emission scanning electron microscope,Fourier transform infrared spectrometer,X-ray photoelectron spectrometer,and X-ray diffractometry demonstrated the successful coating of CS and PDMS on the surface of COL substrate.The CS/PDMS-COL can adsorb eight oils,with the adsorption capacity for trichloromethane reaching 95 g/g.With benzene as the target adsorbent,the separation efficiency was maintained at no less than 95%even after recycling 20 times.CS/PDMS-COL was also used to separate oil-in-water emulsion.Moreover,the sponge killed bacteria effectively due to its excellent near-infrared photothermal responsiveness.This study provides new insight into the preparation of facile oil-water separation materials based on naturally occurring biomaterials effortlessly. | Min Zhang Chenchen Guo Yu Wang Yunlong Zhang Hui Wu Liulian Huang Yonghao Ni Cuicui Ding Lihui Chen | 2022 | Paper And Biomaterials2022,7,3: | 0 |
| 13 | A chromosome-level genome assembly for Dracaena cochinchinensis reveals the molecular basis of its longevity and formation of dragon’s blood显示文摘Dracaena,a remarkably long-lived and slowly maturing species of plant,is world famous for its ability to produce dragon’s blood,a precious traditional medicine used by different cultures since ancient times.However,there is no detailed and high-quality genome available for this species at present;thus,the molecular mechanisms that underlie its important traits are largely unknown.These factors seriously limit the protection and regeneration of this rare and endangered plant resource.Here,we sequenced and assembled the genome of Dracaena cochinchinensis at the chromosome level.The D.cochinchinensis genome covers 1.21 Gb with a scaffold N50 of 50.06 Mb and encodes 31619 predicted protein-coding genes.Analysis showed that D.cochinchinensis has undergone two whole-genome duplications and two bursts of long terminal repeat insertions.The expansion of two gene classes,cis-zeatin O-glucosyltransferase and small auxin upregulated RNA,were found to account for its longevity and slow growth.Two transcription factors(bHLH and MYB)were found to be core regulators of the flavonoid biosynthesis pathway,and reactive oxygen species were identified as the specific signaling molecules responsible for the injuryinduced formation of dragon’s blood.Our study provides high-quality genomic information relating to D.cochinchinensis and significant insight into the molecular mechanisms responsible for its longevity and formation of dragon’s blood.These findings will facilitate resource protection and sustainable utilization of Dracaena. | Yanhong Xu Kaijian Zhang Zhonglian Zhang Yang Liu Feifei Lv Peiwen Sun Shixi Gao Qiuling Wang Cuicui Yu Jiemei Jiang Chuangjun Li Meifang Song Zhihui Gao Chun Sui Haitao Li Yue Jin Xinwei Guo Jianhe Wei | 2022 | Plant Communications2022,3,6: | 0 |
