| 1 | Packaging and degradability properties of polyvinyl alcohol/gelatin nanocomposite films filled water hyacinth cellulose nanocrystals显示文摘Cellulose nanocrystals isolated from water hyacinth fiber(WHF)have been studied as a reinforcement for polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)-gelatin nanocomposite.Central composite design was used to study and optimize effects of the PVA,gelatin and cellulose nanocrystal(CNC)concentration on tensile strength and elongation of formed films.The results of this study showed that WHF CNC had a diameter range of 20-50 nm produced films reaching 13.8 MPa tensile strength.Thermal stability of the films was improved from 380℃ to 385℃ in addition of CNCs and maximum storage modulus of 3 GPa were observed when 5 wt%CNC was incorporated.However,water absorption,water vapour permeability(WVP)and moisture uptake of the films decreased in addition of CNC to the PVA-gelatin blends.Moisture uptake decreased from 22.50%to 19.05%while the least WVP when 10 wt%CNC added was 1.64×10^(-6)g/(m·h·Pa).These results show possibility for industrial application of WHF CNC and PVA-gelatin blends in biodegradable films for on-the-go food wrappers. | Henry C.Oyeoka Chinomso M.Ewulonu Iheoma C.Nwuzor Chizoba M.Obele Joseph T.Nwabanne | 2021 | Journal of Bioresources and Bioproducts2021，6，2： | 3 |
| 2 | Lignin-Containing Cellulose Nanomaterials:A Promising New Nanomaterial for Numerous Applications显示文摘The demand for sustainable functional materials with an eco-friendly preparation process is on the rise.Lignocellulosics has been attributed as the most sustainable bioresource on earth which can meet the stringentrequirements of functionalization. However, cellulose nanomaterials obtained from lignocellulosics which has reachedadvanced stages as a sustainable functional material is challenged by its preparation procedures. These procedures can notbest be described as sustainable and eco-friendly owning to lots of energy and chemicals spent in the pre-treatment andpurification processes. These processes are intended to aid fractionation into the major components in order to removelignin and hemicellulose for the production of cellulose nanomaterials. This work is thus centred on reviewing theprogress achieved in introducing a new cellulose nanomaterial containing lignin. | 4 | Intensive care environment: Perspective of relatives of critically ill patient sustained by health technology显示文摘The intensive care unit(ICU)is a complex setting by nature,and some have described it as bizarre due to its numerous sirens that sound when anything is dangerous,constant activity,equipment,bright lights,and high fatality rate.The demands placed on nurses to care for critically ill patients in this environment frequently prevent nurses and other health‑care professionals from acknowledging the feelings of patient’s relatives or family caregivers,resulting in a hostile environment from the patient’s relative’s perspective.When a patient’s family enters the ICU,they feel that hospital administrators do little to nothing to alleviate their discomfort and fear.Despite research demonstrating the importance of providing a homely environment for patients’families,In Nigeria ICU is still far behind how a conventional ICU environment should be structured to accommodate patient’s relations in the unit.The goal of this study was to look at the patient’s relative’s perspective on providing care for a critically ill patient in an ICU,with a focus on the unit’s complexity and overall experience.Based on the findings of this study,we recommend that hospital administrators ensure that the environment of the upcoming ICU is designed to meet the needs of patient’s relatives by addressing identified environmental concerns,like caring neglect,by providing a friendly and stress‑free environment. | Chinomso Ugochukwu NWOZICHI Olaolorunpo OLORUNFEMI | 2023 | Journal of Integrative Nursing2023，5，2： | 0 |
