1Anisotropic coding metamaterials and their powerful manipulation of differently polarized terahertz waves显示文摘Metamaterials based on effective media can be used to produce a number of unusual physical properties(for example,negative refraction and invisibility cloaking)because they can be tailored with effective medium parameters that do not occur in nature.Recently,the use of coding metamaterials has been suggested for the control of electromagnetic waves through the design of coding sequences using digital elements‘0’and‘1,'which possess opposite phase responses.Here we propose the concept of an anisotropic coding metamaterial in which the coding behaviors in different directions are dependent on the polarization status of the electromagnetic waves.We experimentally demonstrate an ultrathin and flexible polarization-controlled anisotropic coding metasurface that functions in the terahertz regime using specially designed coding elements.By encoding the elements with elaborately designed coding sequences(both 1-bit and 2-bit sequences),the x-and y-polarized waves can be anomalously reflected or independently diffused in three dimensions.The simulated far-field scattering patterns and near-field distributions are presented to illustrate the dual-functional performance of the encoded metasurface,and the results are consistent with the measured results.We further demonstrate the ability of the anisotropic coding metasurfaces to generate a beam splitter and realize simultaneous anomalous reflections and polarization conversions,thus providing powerful control of differently polarized electromagnetic waves.The proposed method enables versatile beam behaviors under orthogonal polarizations using a single metasurface and has the potential for use in the development of interesting terahertz devices.Shuo Liu Tie Jun Cui Quan Xu Di Bao Liangliang Du Xiang Wan Wen Xuan Tang Chunmei Ouyang Xiao Yang Zhou Hao Yuan Hui Feng Ma Wei Xiang Jiang Jiaguang Han Weili Zhang Qiang Cheng 2016Light(Science & Applications)2016,5,1:36
2Modified Dachengqi Tang improves decreased gastrointestinal motility in postoperative esophageal cancer patients显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the clinical effects of modified Dachengqi Tang(DCQT) on promoting gastrointestinal motility in post-operative esophageal cancer patients.METHODS:Sixty postoperative esophageal cancer patients were enrolled and randomly assigned to the modified treatment group or the control group(30 patients in each group).Patients in the treatment group were given DCQT made from decocted herbs and administered via nasojejunal tube at a dosage of 150 mL.Gastrointestinal motility was assessed by recording time for recovery of bowel sounds,flatus,defecation,and the total amount of gastric drainage during the first three postoperative days.Plasma motilin(MTL) and vasoactive intestinal peptide(VIP) were measured one hour before and three days after surgery.RESULTS:Compared with the control group,the times to first bowel sound,flatus,and defecation were significantly shorter and there was less gastric drainage in the treatment group(P < 0.01,P < 0.01,P < 0.01,and P < 0.05,respectively).In the treatment group,postoperative plasma MTL was significantly higher(P < 0.01) and VIP was significantly lower than those in the control group(P < 0.05).There was no difference found in either MTL or VIP from before to after operation in the treatment group(P > 0.05).MTL was significantly lower and VIP was higher postoperatively in the control group,compared to before surgery(P < 0.01).CONCLUSION:Modified DCQT effectively improved decreased gastrointestinal motility in postoperative esophageal cancer patients by increasing MTL and reducing VIP.Xu Zejun Xu Cuiping Ge Hongxia Li Yan Chu Liangliang Zhang Jie Cheng Kelin 2015Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2015,35,3:5
3Materials evolution of bone plates for internal fixation of bone fractures:A review显示文摘Bone plates play a vital role in bone fracture healing by providing the necessary mechanical fixation for fracture fragments through modulating biomechanical microenvironment adjacent to the fracture site.Good treatment effect has been achieved for fixation of bone fracture with conventional bone plates,which are made of stainless steel or titanium alloy.However,several limitations still exist with traditional bone plates including loosening and stress shielding due to significant difference in modulus between metal material and bone tissue that impairs optimal fracture healing.Additionally,due to demographic changes and non-physiological loading,the population suffering from refractory fractures,such as osteoporosis fractures and comminuted fractures,is increasing,which imposes a big challenge to traditional bone plates developed for normal bone fracture repair.Therefore,optimal fracture treatment with adequate fixation implants in terms of materials and design relevant to special conditions is desirable.In this review,the complex physiological process of bone healing is introduced,followed by reviewing the development of implant design and biomaterials for bone plates.Finally,we discuss recent development of hybrid bone plates that contains bioactive elements or factors for fracture healing enhancement as a promising direction.This includes biodegradable Mg-based alloy used for designing bone screw-plates that has been proven to be beneficial for fracture healing,an innovative development that attracts more and more attention.This paper also indicates that the tantalum bone plates with porous structure are also emerging as a new fracture internal fixation implants.The reduction of the stress shielding is verified to be useful to accelerate bone fracture healing.Potential application of biodegradable metals may also avoid a second operation for implant removal.Further developments in biometals and their design for orthopedic bone plates are expected to improve the treatment of bone fracture,especially the refractory fractures.Junlei Li Ling Qin Ke Yang Zhijie Ma Yongxuan Wang Liangliang Cheng Dewei Zhao 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,36,1:5
4Nitrogen-cycling microbial community functional potential and enzyme activities in cultured biofilms with response to inorganic nitrogen availability显示文摘Biofilms mediate crucial biochemical processes in aquatic ecosystems. It was hypothesized that eutrophication may promote the growth of biofilms, resulting in larger numbers of functional genes. However, the metabolic activity and the roles of biofilms in N cycling will be affected by ambient inorganic nitrogen availability, not by the abundance of functional genes. Biofilms were cultured either with replete inorganic nitrogen(N-rep) or without exogenous inorganic nitrogen supply(N-def) in a flow incubator, and the N-cycling gene abundances(nifH, N_2 fixation; amoA, ammonia oxidation, archaea and bacteria; nirS and nirK, denitrification) and enzyme activities(nitrogenase and nitrate reductase) were analyzed. The results showed that, comparing the N-def and N-rep biofilms, the former contained lower nifH gene abundance, but higher nitrogenase activity(NA), while the latter contained higher nifH gene abundance, but lower NA. Different patterns of NA diel variations corresponded to the dynamic microbial community composition and different stages of biofilm colonization. Ammonia oxidizing bacteria(AOB), detected only in N-def biofilms, were responsible for nitrification in biofilms. N-rep biofilms contained high nirS and nirK gene abundance and high denitrification enzyme activity, but N-def biofilms contained significantly lower denitrification gene abundance and activity. In general,the strong N_2 fixation in N-def biofilms and strong denitrification in N-rep biofilms assured the balance of aquatic ecosystems. 6Petrogenesis and tectonic significance of the early Paleozoic Delenuoer ophiolite in the Central Qilian Shan, northeastern Tibetan Plateau显示文摘The newly discovered early Paleozoic Delenuoer ophiolite,in the western margin of the Central Qilian Shan,is composed of serpentinized peridotite,cumulate gabbro,diabase,massive basalt,and pillow basalt.This study presents geochronological and geochemical data for the cumulate gabbro and basalt.LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating of zircons from the cumulate gabbro yielded a magmatic crystallization age of 472±4 Ma.The basalts have normal mid-ocean ridge basalt(N-MORB)compositions and a narrow range ofεNd(t)values(+4.5 to+5.3),which indicates they were derived from a depleted mantle source.On the basis of regional geological constraints,it is proposed that the Delenuoer ophiolite is a westward extension of the South Ophiolite Belt(Yushigou-Youhulugou-Donggou-Dongcaohe Ophiolite Belt)in the North Qilian Shan.The Delenuoer ophiolite,along with the Gulangxia-Delenuoer fault,defines the westernmost part of the tectonic boundary between the North and Central Qilian Shan.This ophiolite may have formed during southward subduction of the Qilian Ocean slab during the early Paleozoic.Zhen Ma Jinrong Wang Liangliang Zhang Yixin Liu Yunyun Gao Xiang Zhang Sheng Yu Cheng Zhang 2020Geoscience Frontiers2020,11,6:2
725 × 50 Gbps wavelength division multiplexing silicon photonics receiver chip based on a silicon nanowire-arrayed waveguide grating显示文摘A high-performance monolithic integrated wavelength division multiplexing silicon(Si) photonics receiver chip is fabricated on a silicon-on-insulator platform. The receiver chip has a 25-channel Si nanowire-arrayed waveguide grating, and each channel is integrated with a high-speed waveguide Ge-on-Si photodetector. The central wavelength, optical insertion loss, and cross talk of the array waveguide grating are 1550.6 nm, 5–8 dB, and-12 –-15 dB, respectively. The photodetectors show low dark current density of 16.9 mA∕cm^2 at-1 V and a high responsivity of 0.82 A/W at 1550 nm. High bandwidths of 23 and 29 GHz are achieved at 0 and-1 V, respectively. 11Genetic diversity and a population structure analysis of accessions in the Chinese cowpea [Vigna unguiculata(L.)Walp.]germplasm collection显示文摘Cowpea(Vigna imguicuiata) is an important legume crop with diverse uses. The species is presently a minor crop, and evaluation of its genetic diversity has been very limited. In this study, a total of 200 genic and 100 genomic simple sequence repeat(SSR) markers were developed from cowpea unigene and genome sequences, respectively. Among them, 27 genic and 27 genomic SSR markers were polymorphic and were used for assessment of genetic diversity and population structure in 105 selected cowpea accessions. A total of 155 alleles and 2.9 alleles per marker were identified, and the average polymorphic information content(PIC) value was 0.3615. The average PIC of genomic SSRs(0.3996) was higher than that of genic SSRs(0.3235), and most of the polymorphic genomic SSRs were composed of di-and trinucleotide repeats(51.9% and 37.0% of all loci, respectively). The low level of detected genetic diversity may be attributed to a severe genetic bottleneck that occurred during the cowpea domestication process. The accessions were classified by structure and cluster analysis into four subgroups that correlated well with their geographic origins or collection sites. The classification results were also consistent with the results from principal coordinate analysis and can be used as a guide during future germplasm collection and selection of accessions as breeding materials for cultivar improvement. 14Nano Ru Impregnated Ni-YSZ Anode as Carbon Resistance Layer for Direct Ethanol Solid Oxide Fuel Cells显示文摘Carbon formation on conventional Ni and Y2O3 stabilized zirconia(Ni/YSZ) anodes is a major problem for direct ethanol solid oxide fuel cells(DE-SOFC). A nanostructure Ru layer was grown in Ni/YSZ anodes through wet impregnation method with RuC l3 solvent at pH =4. Anode-supported Ni-YSZ/YSZ/(La0.8Sr0.2)0.98 MnO 3±δ(LSM) and Ru-Ni-YSZ/YSZ/LSM fuel cells were compared in terms of the performance and carbon formation with ethanol fuel. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy disperse spectroscopy and electrochemical workstation were used to study the morphology and fuel cell performance. The results indicate that a nano structured and pearl like Ru layer was well dispersed on the surface of Ni-YSZ materials. The single cell with Ru-impregnated Ni/YSZ showed a maximum power density of 369 m W/cm at 750°C, which was higher than Ni-YSZ/YSZ/LSM. Specifically, no carbon was formed in the anode after 1000 min operation. 16Design and Evaluation of an Exergame System of Knee with the Azure Kinect显示文摘Timely and effective knee function evaluation and knee exercises promote the prevention and self-management of knee diseases.In this paper,aKinectbased exergame system is proposed to assess and train the knee function.Azure Kinect was used to capture and generate 3D models of the user and immerse them in an interactive virtual environment.The software included three functional modules:knee function evaluation,Knee exercises game,and Comprehensive evaluation.The stand,step,leg lift,and squat were selected for knee function evaluation and exercises.Twenty volunteers participated in the experiment.Intraclass correlation coefficients(ICCs)were calculated to assess the reliability of kinematic measurements of knee angles during the movements.The ICC of these movements were stand(ICC=0.987),step(ICC=0.997),left leg lift(ICC=0.981),right leg lift(ICC=0.990),stand(ICC=0.998).The results show that the test-retest reliability is high.It means that the motion capture data is effective and the data obtained by Kinect is stable.Guangjun Wang Ming Cheng Xueshu Wang Yi Fan Xin Chen Liangliang Yao Hanyuan Zhang Zuchang Ma 2021国际计算机前沿大会会议论文集2021,,2:0
17Comparison of the biomechanical performance of three spinal implants for treating the wedge-shaped burst fractures显示文摘Spinal fracture is a serious problem impairing life quality,associating with low back pain and many other chronic diseases.Among all the spinal fractures,the rate of thoracolumbar fractures is the highest and accounts for approximately 90%.Although surgical treatment is an effective approach,it is still unclear which treatment method performs the best.The aim of the present study was to investigate the biomechanical performance of three spinal implants for treating the thoracolumbar wedge-shaped burst fractures using the finite element(FE)method.FE model of the T12/L1/L2 spinal segment was created from CT images and the thoracolumbar wedge-shaped burst fractures were created by removing some elements in the anterior part of L1.The FE models of the traditional system,the universal spine system(USS)and the cortical bone trajectory(CBT)system were created and their biomechanical performances were evaluated.The results revealed that among the three fixation systems,the highest von-Mises stress occurred in the CBT system.Under all the loading scenarios except for the lateral bending,the maximal von-Mises stress was higher when the USS system rather than the traditional system was applied.The average displacement around the fracture site was the highest in the CBT system.Except for the lateral bending,the average displacement around the fracture site was higher when the USS system rather than the traditional system was applied.For all the fixation approaches,the highest von-Mises stress always occurred at the screw junctions.The present study provided important data for the treatment of thoracolumbar wedge-shaped burst fractures.For example,the traditional spinal system is preferentially selected for the thoracolumbar wedgeshaped burst fracture of L1.Tingxiang Gong Yongtao Lu Liangliang Cheng 2022Medicine in Novel Technology and Devices2022,,1:0
18Experimental study of a 3D printed permanent implantable porous Ta-coated bone plate for fracture fixation显示文摘Metal plates have always been the gold standard in the clinic for internal fracture fixation due to their high strength advantages.However,high elastic modulus can cause stress shielding and lead to bone embrittlement.This study used an electron beam melting method to prepare personalized porous Ti6Al4V(pTi)bone plates.Then,chemical vapor deposition(CVD)technology coats tantalum(Ta)metal on the pTi bone plates.The prepared porous Ta-coated bone plate has an elastic modulus similar to cortical bone,and no stress shielding occurred.In vitro experiments showed that compared with pTi plates,Ta coating significantly enhances the attachment and proliferation of cells on the surface of the scaffold.To better evaluate the function of the Ta-coated bone plate,animal experiments were conducted using a coat tibia fracture model.Our results showed that the Ta-coated bone plate could effectively fix the fracture.Both imaging and histological analysis showed that the Ta-coated bone plate had prominent indirect binding of callus formation.Histological results showed that new bone grew at the interface and formed good osseointegration with the host bone.Therefore,this study provides an alternative to bio-functional Ta-coated bone plates with improved osseointegration and osteogenic functions for orthopaedic applications.Baoyi Liu Zhijie Ma Junlei Li Hui Xie Xiaowei Wei Benjie Wang Simiao Tian Jiahui Yang Lei Yang Liangliang Cheng Lu Li Dewei Zhao 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,4:0
19Research progress and clinical translation of three-dimensional printed porous tantalum in orthopaedics显示文摘With continuous developments in additive manufacturing technology, tantalum (Ta) metal has been manufactured into orthopaedic implants with a variety of forms, properties and uses by three-dimensional printing. Based on extensive research in recent years, the design, processing and performance aspects of this new orthopaedic implant material have been greatly improved. Besides the bionic porous structure and mechanical characteristics that are similar to human bone tissue, porous tantalum is considered to be a viable bone repair material due to its outstanding corrosion resistance, biocompatibility, bone integration and bone conductivity. Numerous in vitro, in vivo, and clinical studies have been carried out in order to analyse the safety and efficacy of these implants in orthopaedic applications.
