| 1 | Zircon U-Pb dating confirms existence of a Caledonian scheelite-bearing aplitic vein in the Penggongmiao granite batholith, South Hunan显示文摘Granite at Penggongmiao is a large batholith in the Nanling Range, with an outcrop area of over 900 km 2 . There are many scheelite-quartz veins around the granite. LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating was carried out for zircons from the granite. The middlecoarse-grained biotite granite has U-Pb ages of 435 to 436 Ma. Ages of 426.5±2.5 Ma were obtained for aplitic dyke cross-cutting the granite. The scheelite of magmatic origin in the aplite dyke was identified from petrographic investigation. This demonstrates that W-bearing granites of Early Paleozoic (corresponding to the Caledonian orogensis in the traditional sense) occur in the Nanling Range. This finding has important implications for the ore-forming potential of Paleozoic granites and on the extent of Mesozoic mineralization. Thus it merits performing an intensive study of Paleozoic granites in South China. | 3 | Human embryonic stem cells-derived endothelial cell therapy facilitates kidney regeneration by stimulating renal resident stem cell proliferation in acute kidney injury显示文摘Endothelial cell therapy has been implicated to enhance tissue regeneration and vascularization in ischemic kidney. However, no published study has yet examined direct effects of endothelial cell treatment in kidney recovery. This study investigated the therapeutic efficacy of endothelial cells in a mouse model with acute kidney injury (AKI). Thus, human embryonic stem cells-derived endothelial cells (hESC-ECs) labeled with a reporter system encoding a double fusion reporter gene for firefly luciferase (Fluc) and green fluorescent protein (GFP) were characterized by Fluc imaging and immunofluoresence staining. Cultured hESC-ECs (1×106) were injected into ischemic kidney shortly after AKI. Survival of the transplanted hESC-ECs was monitored in vivo from day 1 to 14 after endothelial cell transplantation and potential impact of hESC-EC treatment on renal regeneration was assessed by histological analyses. We report that a substantial level of bioluminescence activity was detected 24 h after hESC-EC injection followed by a gradual decline from 1 to 14 d. Human ESC-ECs markedly accelerated kidney cell proliferation in response to ischaemia-induced damage, indicated by an elevated number of BrdU+ cells. Co-expression of Sca-1, a kidney stem cell proliferation marker, and BrdU further suggested that the observed stimulation in renal cell regeneration was, at least in part, due to increased proliferation of renal resident stem cells especially within the medullary cords and arteriole. Differentiation of hESC-ECs to smooth muscle cells was also observed at an early stage of kidney recovery. | 4 | Insulin-like growth factor receptor-1 overexpression is associated with poor response of rectal cancers to radiotherapy显示文摘AIM:To explore the potential correlation between insulin-like growth factor receptor-1(IGF-1R)expression and rectal cancer radiosensitivity.METHODS:Eighty-seven rectal cancer patients(c TNMⅠ-Ⅲ)treated in our department between January 2011and December 2012 were enrolled.All subjects were treated with preoperative radiotherapy and radical resection of rectal carcinoma.Immunohistochemistry and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)were performed to detect IGF-1R expression in pre-treatment and postoperative colorectal cancer specimens.Radiosensitivity for rectal cancer specimens was evaluated by observing rectal carcinoma mass regression combined with fibrosis on HE staining,degree of necrosis and quantity of remaining tumor cells.The relative IGF-1R expression was evaluated for association with tumor radiosensitivity.RESULTS:Immunohistochemistry showed diffuse IGF-1R staining on rectal cancer cells with various degrees of signal density.IGF-1R expression was significantly correlated with c TNM staging(P=0.012)while no significant association was observed with age,sex,tumor size and degree of differentiation(P=0.424,0.969,0.604,0.642).According to the Rectal Cancer Regression Grades(RCRG),there were 31 cases of RCRG1(radiation sensitive),28 cases of RCRG2 and 28 cases of RCRG3(radiation resistance)in 87 rectal cancer subjects.IGF-1R protein hyper-expression was significantly correlated with a poor response to radiotherapy(P<0.001,r=0.401).RT-PCR results from pre-radiation biopsy specimens also showed that IGF-1R m RNA negative group exhibited a higher radiation sensitivity(P<0.001,r=0.497).Compared with the pre-radiation biopsy specimens,the paired post-operative specimens showed a significantly increased IGF-1R protein and m RNA expression in the residual cancer cells(P<0.001,respectively).CONCLUSION:IGF-1R expression level may serve as a predictive biomarker for radiosensitivity of rectal cancer before preoperative radiotherapy. | Xiao-Yu Wu Zhen-Feng Wu Qin-Hong Cao Che Chen Zhi-Wei Chen Zhe Xu Wei-Su Li Fu-Kun Liu Xue-Quan Yao Gang Li | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,43: | 4 |
| 5 | Tyroserleutide tripeptide affects calcium homeostasis of human hepatocarcinoma BEL-7402 cells显示文摘This study aimed to observe the effects of tyroserleutide (tyrosyl-seryl-leucine, YSL) on the growth of human hepatocarcinoma BEL-7402 that was transplanted into nude mice, and explore its anti-tumor mechanism preliminarily. YSL, at doses of 80 μg·kg?1·d?1, 160 μg·kg?1·d?1 and 320 μg·kg?1·d?1 significantly inhibited the growth of the human hepatocarcinoma BEL-7402 tumor in nude mice, producing inhibition of 21.66%, 41.34%, and 34.78%, respectively. Ultra structure of BEL-7402 tumor in nude mice showed that YSL could induce tumor cells apoptosis and necrosis, cell organelle mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum damage, and calcium over-load. By confocal laser scanning microscopy and flow cytometry, we found that 10 μg/mL YSL rapidly induced an increase of the concentration of cytoplasmic free calcium in BEL-7402 cells in vitro, and maintained high concentrations of cytoplasmic free calcium for 1 h. Then the calcium concentration began to decrease after 2 h, and was lower than that of the control group at 4 h and 24 h (p<0.05). YSL also decreased the mitochondrial transmembrane potential of BEL-7402 cells in vitro, but had no effect on the calcium homeostasis or mitochondrial transmembrane potential of Chang liver hepatocytes. | 12 | Experimental and Numerical Study on Co-combustion Behaviors and NO_(x) Emission Characteristics of Semi-coke and Coal in a Tangentially Fired Utility Boiler显示文摘The utilization of powdery semi-coke as a power fuel in pulverized coal-fired power plants has become a new and potential technique to consume the excess powdery semi-coke.The characteristic of low volatile results in poor combustion performance and high NO_(x) emission,and to co-fire with bituminous coal is a practical strategy to address this problem.However,the co-combustion characteristics and the inherent interaction between semi-coke and coal remain insufficiently understood.In addition,the influences of secondary air arrangement,the boiler operation load,and the fuel type on co-combustion process are still unclear,which is urgent to be further explored.In the present study,experiments and numerical simulations were jointly utilized to inquire into the co-combustion behaviors and NO_(x) emission features of semi-coke and coal.The results demonstrated that the'out-furnace method'was a suitable choice for small-capacity boiler when the proportion of semi-coke was 33%,due to the limited combinations of the semi-coke injection position.It was recommended that semi-coke was preferred to be injected from the middle layers of the furnace under the'in-furnace method'to improve the overall co-combustion performance.The critical value of the separated over fire air ratio in this study was 27.5%,over which a slight drop of carbon content in fly ash could come about.Moreover,the elevation in the proportion of separated over fire air gave rise to the significant decline of NO_(x) concentration.The constricted secondary air arrangement was preferred to be employed due to the high boiler efficiency.The separated over fire air and the surrounding air needed to maintain a wide-open degree to prevent the increase of NO_(x) emissions and the coking of nozzles.For the load reduction regulation method adopted in this study,the NO_(x) concentration first rose and then dropped,while the burnout ratio decreased obviously as the operation load was reduced.Different combinations of coal and semi-coke generated significant influences on co-combustion behaviors within the furnace.The NO_(x )generated by high-volatile fuel (bituminous coal) combustion was mainly affected by volatile-N,while the NO_(x )generated by low-volatile fuel (semi-coke) was mainly impacted by char-N.This study is of guiding significance for the efficient and clean utilization and beneficial to the large-scale application of powder semi-coke in power plants. | WANG Chang’an FENG Qinqin JIN Liyan WANG Zhichao YAO Wei WANGPengqian DU Yongbo ZHANG Xilai YANG Zhongcan CHE Defu | 2021 | Journal of Thermal Science2021,30,4: | 2 |
