2Experimental investigations on separation control and flow structure around a circular cylinder with synthetic jet显示文摘Circular cylinder separation control and flow structure influenced by the synthetic jet have been experimentally investigated in a water channel. The synthetic jet is- sues from a slot and ejects toward upstream from the front stagnation point of the cylinder. It has been found that, similar to the traditional synthetic jet which is po- sitioned near the separation point or inside the separation region, the present synthetic jet arrangement constitutes an efficient way to control flow separation of the circular cylinder, but with a different control mechanism. The present synthetic jet leads to an upstream displacement of the front stagnation point and the forma- tion of a vortex pair near both sides of the exit orifice. When ReU based on the synthetic jet average exit orifice velocity is about lower than 43, a closed envelope forms in front of the windward side of the cylinder during the blowing cycle of syn- thetic jet, which acts as an apparent modification for the cylinder configuration. When ReU is high enough, an open envelope forms upstream of the cylinder, and the flow around the cylinder becomes much energetic. Thus, regardless of ReU, the present synthetic jet can improve separation for flow around a circular cylinder. With regard to the leeward side, as ReU increases, the flow separation region be- hind the cylinder gradually disappears. The flow over cylinder may be fully attached when the open envelope forms upstream of the cylinder and ReU is greater than 344. 3HY5-HDA9 Module Transcriptionally Regulates Plant Autophagy in Response to Light-to-Dark Conversion and Nitrogen Starvation显示文摘Light is arguably one of the most important environmental factors that determines virtually all aspects of plant growth and development,but the molecular link between light signaling and the autophagy pathway has not been elucidated in plants.In this study,we demonstrate that autophagy is activated during light-to-dark conversion though transcriptional upregulation of autophagy-related genes(ATGs).We showed that depletion of the ELONGATED HYPOCOTYL 5(HY5),a key component of light signaling,leads to enhanced autophagy activity and resistance to extended darkness and nitrogen starvation treatments,contributing to higher expression oiATGs.HY5 interacts with and recruits HISTONE DEACETYLASE 9(HDA9)to ATG5 and ATG8e loci to repress their expression by deacetylation of the Lys9 and Lys27 of histone 3.Furthermore,we found that both darkness and nitrogen depletion induce the degradation of HY5 via 26S proteasome and the concomitant disassociation of HDA9 from ATG5 and ATG8e loci,leading to their depression and thereby activated autophagy.Genetic analysis further confirmed that HY5 and HDA9 act synergistically and function upstream of the autophagy pathway.Collectively,our study unveils a previously unknown transcriptional and epigenetic network that regulates autophagy in response to light-to-dark conversion and nitrogen starvation in plants.Chao Yang Wenjin Shen Lianming Yang Yun Sun Xibao Li Minyi Lai Juan Wei Chaojun Wang Yingchao Xu Faqiang Li Shan Liang Chengwei Yang Shangwei Zhong Ming Luo Caiji Gao 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,3:8
4Distinctive effects of CD34- and CD133-specific antibody-coated stents on re-endothelialization and in-stent restenosis at the early phase of vascular injury显示文摘It is not clear what effects of CD34-and CD133-specific antibody-coated stents have on reendothelialization and in-stent restenosis(ISR)at the early phase of vascular injury.This study aims at determining the capabilities of different coatings on stents(e.g.gelatin,anti-CD133 and anti-CD34 antibodies)to promote adhesion and proliferation of endothelial progenitor cells(EPCs).The in vitro study revealed that the adhesion force enabled the EPCs coated on glass slides to withstand flow-induced shear stress,so that allowing for the growth of the cells on the slides for 48 h.The in vivo experiment using a rabbit model in which the coated stents with different substrates were implanted showed that anti-CD34 and anti-CD133 antibody-coated stents markedly reduced the intima area and restenosis than bare mental stents(BMS)and gelatin-coated stents.Compared with the anti-CD34 antibody-coated stents,the time of cells adhesion was longer and earlier present in the anti-CD133 antibody-coated stents and anti-CD133 antibody-coated stents have superiority in re-endothelialization and inhibition of ISR.In conclusion,this study demonstrated that anti-CD133 antibody as a stent coating for capturing EPCs is better than anti-CD34 antibody in promoting endothelialization and reducing ISR.Xue Wu Tieying Yin Jie Tian Chaojun Tang Junli Huang Yinping Zhao Xiaojuan Zhang Xiaoyan Deng Yubo Fan Donghong Yu Guixue Wang 2015Regenerative Biomaterials2015,2,2:7
5Synthesis of graphene materials by electrochemical exfoliation: Recent progress and future potential显示文摘Synthesis of structurally controlled graphene materials is critical for realizing their practical applications.The electrochemical exfoliation of graphite has emerged as a simple method to produce graphene materials.This review examines research progress in the last 5 years,from 2015 to 2019.Graphene material synthesis methods generally have a trade‐off between increasing production yield and achieving better material property control.The synthesis conditions for synthesizing pristine graphene,graphene oxide(GO),and graphene composites are significantly different.Thus,in this review,we first discuss synthesis methods for graphene materials with high C/O ratios from four aspects:graphite electrodes,equipment engineering,electrolytes,and additional reduction methods.Next,we survey synthesis methods for GO and examine how the pretreatment of the graphite electrodes,electrolytes,and operation parameters,such as applied voltages,electrolyte temperatures,and mechanical forces,affect the quality of GO.Further,we summarize electrochemical exfoliation methods used to dope graphene materials,introduce covalent functional groups,incorporate various nanoparticles,and assembly of graphene architectures.For all synthesis methods,we compare the properties of resulting graphene materials such as C/O ratios,lateral size,layer numbers,and quality characterized by Raman spectroscopy.Lastly,we propose our perspectives on further research.We hope this review stimulates more studies to realize the on‐demand production of graphene materials with desired properties using electrochemical exfoliation methods.Fei Liu Chaojun Wang Xiao Sui Muhammad Adil Riaz Meiying Xu Li Wei Yuan Chen 2019Carbon Energy2019,1,2:6
6Overexpressed BRH1, a RING finger gene, alters rosette leaf shape in Arabidopsis thaliana显示文摘Leaves are the most important plant parts for photosynthesis and respiration. Many genes are involved in determining leaf shape;however, little is known about the effects of brassinosteroid (BR) signaling-pathway genes on the development of leaf shape. Here, the brassinosteroid-responsive RING-H2 (BRH1) gene, which is suppressed by 24-epi-brassinolide treatment, was isolated from Arabidopsis thaliana. The amino acid sequence contained a highly conserved RING finger domain. In a phylogenetic analysis,BRH1 clustered closely with GLYMA11G02470.1. The leaves of brh1 mutant plants were not much different to those of the wild-type, while transgenic plants with high BRH1 expression levels had rounder rosette leaves. Mutants of the BR synthesis pathway also had a similar round leaf phenotype, and greater BRH1 expression levels. Moreover, the related marker genes KNAT1,AtHB13 and ROT4, which are known to control leaf shape, altered transcriptional levels in both transgenic BRH1 and BR-synthesis mutant lines. Thus, BRH1 may be involved in the BR signaling pathway and regulate the growth and development of rosette leaves. 7Coupled Model of Two-phase Debris Flow,Sediment Transport and Morphological Evolution显示文摘The volume fraction of the solid and liquid phase of debris flows,which evolves simultaneously across terrains,largely determines the dynamic property of debris flows. The entrainment process significantly influences the amplitude of the volume fraction. In this paper,we present a depth-averaged two-phase debris-flow model describing the simultaneous evolution of the phase velocity and depth,the solid and fluid volume fractions and the bed morphological evolution. The model employs the Mohr–Coulomb plasticity for the solid stress,and the fluid stress is modeled as a Newtonian viscous stress. The interfacial momentum transfer includes viscous drag and buoyancy. A new extended entrainment rate formula that satisfies the boundary momentum jump condition(Iverson and Ouyang,2015) is presented. In this formula,the basal traction stress is a function of the solid volume fraction and can take advantage of both the Coulomb and velocity-dependent friction models. A finite volume method using Roe's Riemann approximation is suggested to solve the equations. Three computational cases are conducted and compared with experiments or previous results. 8A Superaerophobic Bimetallic Selenides Heterostructure for Efficient Industrial-Level Oxygen Evolution at Ultra-High Current Densities显示文摘Cost-effective and stable electrocatalysts with ultra-high current densities for electrochemical oxygen evolution reaction(OER)are critical to the energy crisis and environmental pollution.Herein,we report a superaerophobic three dimensional(3D)heterostructured nanowrinkles of bimetallic selenides consisting of crystalline NiSe2 and NiFe2Se4 grown on NiFe alloy(NiSe2/NiFe2Se4@NiFe)prepared by a thermal selenization procedure.In this unique 3D heterostructure,numerous nanowrinkles of NiSe2/NiFe2Se4 hybrid with a thickness of ~100 nm are grown on NiFe alloy in a uniform manner.Profiting by the large active surface area and high electronic conductivity,the superaerophobic NiSe2/NiFe2Se4@NiFe heterostructure exhibits excellent electrocatalytic activity and durability towards OER in alkaline media,outputting the low potentials of 1.53 and 1.54 V to achieve ultra-high current densities of 500 and 1000 mA cm^−2,respectively,which is among the most active Ni/Fe-based selenides,and even superior to the benchmark Ir/C catalyst.The in-situ derived FeOOH and NiOOH species from NiSe2/NiFe2Se4@NiFe are deemed to be efficient active sites for OER.Jiaxin Yuan Xiaodi Cheng Hanqing Wang Chaojun Lei Sameer Pardiwala Bin Yang Zhongjian Li Qinghua Zhang Lecheng Lei Shaobin Wang Yang Hou 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,8:4
9Protein prenylation and human diseases: a balance of protein farnesylation and geranylgeranylation显示文摘The protein prenylation is one of the essential post-translational protein modifications, which extensively exists in the eukaryocyte. It includes protein farnesylation and geranylgeranylation, using farnesyl pyrophosphate(FPP) or geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate(GGPP) as the substrate, respectively. The prenylation occurs by covalent addition of these two types of isoprenoids to cysteine residues at or near the carboxyl terminus of the proteins that possess Caa X motif, such as Ras small GTPase family. The attachment of hydrophobic prenyl groups can anchor the proteins to intracellular membranes and trigger downstream cell signaling pathway. Geranylgeranyl biphosphate synthase(GGPPS) catalyzes the synthesis of 20-carbon GGPP from 15-carbon FPP. The abnormal expression of this enzyme will affect the relative content of FPP and GGPP, and thus disrupts the balance between protein farnesylation and geranylgeranylation, which participates into various aspects of cellular physiology and pathology. 10Prediction of VIGS efficiency by the Sfold program and its reliability analysis in Gossypium hirsutum显示文摘Genetic transformation in some plant species,including cotton(Gossypium hirsutum), is hampered by laborious and time-consuming processes and often unachievable. Virus-induced gene silencing(VIGS) by double-stranded RNAs can serve as a reverse-genetics tool to determine gene function. However, knockdown levels vary greatly when using a tobacco rattle virus-based vector that carries different c DNA fragments of a gene. How to choose the optional target fragment for high interference efficiency is very challenging. Addressing this challenge requires increasing the efficacy of small interference RNA(si RNA) in target fragment. Here, we describe a method to assess VIGS efficiency by comparing the following parameters of si RNA in target sequence: the disruption energy of the target(DGdisruption), the differential stability of si RNA duplex ends(DSSE), and the internal stability at positions 9–14 of the si RNA antisense strand(AIS), which are calculated by Sfold program(http://gffzz01a2382fbe924301hoocc5f9ubbcf6xwq.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn). We find that the si RNAs with low DGdisruption, high DSSE and high AIS have high activity and easily result in high VIGS efficiency by experimentally testing the actual knockdown levels of the four target genes, Gh PDS,Gh CLA1, Gh AOS1, and Gh CXE1 via choosing different target sequences for each gene. 12A New Indicator for Global Food Security Assessment: Harvested Area Rather Than Cropland Area显示文摘Cropland area has long been used as a key indicator of food security.However,grain yield is not solely controlled by the area of the cropland.Therefore,we proposed a new indicator to assess food security.Results show that from 1992 to 2004,the global cropland area increased by 840200 km^(2)(99.4%),but the grain yield increased only by 310 million t(29.1%);and from 2004 to 2015,the cropland area decreased by 39000 km^(2)(4.64%),but the grain yield increased by 370 million t(70.84%).This result showed that grain yield was not linearly correlated with cropland area,and delimiting the threshold of cropland protection may not guarantee food security.Combined with further correlation analysis,we found that the increase in the global grain yield was more closely related to the harvested area(R^(2)=0.94),which indicated that the harvested area is a more scientific and accurate indicator than cropland area in terms of guaranteeing food security.Therefore,if governments want to ensure the food security,they should choose a new and more accurate indicator:harvested area rather than cropland area.SONG Fengjiao WANG Shijie BAI Xiaoyong WU Luhua WANG Jinfeng LI Chaojun CHEN Huan LUO Xuling XI Huipeng ZHANG Sirui LUO Guofeng YAN Mengqi ZHEN Qingqing 2022Chinese Geographical Science2022,32,2:2
13Global patterns and changes of carbon emissions from land use during 1992e2015显示文摘Carbon emissions from land use(ELUC)are an important part of anthropogenic CO_(2) emissions,but its size and location remain uncertain,and our knowledge of the relationship between ELUC and GDP remains partial.We showed that the carbon emissions directly caused by land use change(direct ELUC)during 1992-2015 was 26.54 Pg C(1.15 Pg C yr^(-1)),with a decreased trend and a net reduction rate of0.15 Pg C yr^(-1).The areas that exhibited reductions were concentrated in South America,Central Africa,and Southeast Asia,and those with increments were scattered in Northwestern North America,Eastern South America,Central Africa,East Asia,and parts of Southeast Asia.For the indirect carbon emissions from the utilization of built-up land(indirect ELUC),it manifested an upward trend with a total emission of 27.51 Pg C(1.2 Pg C yr^(-1)).The total value resulted by global ELUC was $136.3×10^(9) US,and the value of annual was equivalent to 3.7 times the GDP of the Central African Republic in 2015($5.93×10^(9) US yr^(-1)).Among the 79 countries and regions considered in this study,54 represented the upward GDP with increased emissions,and only 25 experienced GDP growth with emission reductions.These findings highlight the pivotal role of land use change in the carbon cycle and the significance of coordinated development between GDP and carbon emissions.Shiqi Tian Shijie Wang Xiaoyong Bai Guangjie Luo Qin Li Yujie Yang Zeyin Hu Chaojun Li Yuanhong Deng 2021Environmental Science and Ecotechnology2021,,3:2
14An enhanced method for nucleic acid detection with CRISPR-Cas12a using phosphorothioate modified primers and optimized gold-nanopaticle strip显示文摘CRISPR-Cas12a system has been shown promising for nucleic acid diagnostics due to its rapid,portable and accurate features.However,cleavage of the amplicons and primers by the cis-and trans-activity of Cas12a hinders the attempts to integrate the amplification and detection into a single reaction.Through phosphorothioate modification of primers,we realized onepot detection with high sensitivity using plasmids of SARS-CoV-2,HPV16 and HPV18.We also identified the activated Cas12a has a much higher affinity to C nucleotide-rich reporter than others.By applying such reporters,the reaction time required for a lateral-flow readout was significantly reduced.Furthermore,to improve the specificity of the strip-based assay,we created a novel reporter and,when combined with a customized gold-nanopaticle strip,the readout was greatly enhanced owing to the elimination of the nonspecific signal.This established system,termed Targeting DNA by Cas12a-based Eye Sight Testing in an Onepot Reaction(TESTOR),was validated using clinical cervical scrape samples for human papillomaviruses(HPVs)detection.Our system represents a general approach to integrating the nucleic acid amplification and detection into a single reaction in CRISPR-Cas systems,highlighting its potential as a rapid,portable and accurate detection platform of nucleic acids.Jiaojiao Gong Lijuan Kan Xiuming Zhang Ying He Jiaqiang Pan Liping Zhao Qianyun Li Menghao Liu Jie Tian Sili Lin Zhouyu Lu Liang Xue Chaojun Wang Guanghui Tang 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,12:1

18Chalcocite(bio)hydrometallurgy-current state,mechanism,and future directions:A review显示文摘There has been a strong interest in technologies suited for mining and processing of low-grade ores because of the rapid depletion of mineral resources in the world.In most cases,the extraction of copper from such raw materials is achieved by applying the leaching procedures.However,its low extraction efficiency and the long extraction period limit its large-scale commercial applications in copper recovery,even though bioleaching has been widely employed commercially for heap and dump bioleaching of secondary copper sulfide ores.Overcoming the technical challenges requires a better understanding of leaching kinetics and on-site microbial activities.Herein,this paper reviews the current status of main commercial biomining operations around the world,identifies factors that affect chalcocite dissolution both in chemical leaching and bioleaching,summarizes the related kinetic research,and concludes with a discussion of two on-site chalcocite heap leaching practices.Further,the challenges and innovations for the future development of chalcocite hydrometallurgy are presented in the end.Shichao Yu Rui Liao Baojun Yang Chaojun Fang Zhentang Wang Yuling Liu Baiqiang Wu Jun Wang Guanzhou Qiu 2022Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2022,35,1:1
