2Histological Subtypes of Lung Cancer in Chinese Males from 2000 to 2012显示文摘Objective To characterize the histological and epidemiological features of male lung cancer patients in China. Methods The demographic and histological information about male lung cancer patients identified from 2000-01-01 to 2012-12-31,was collected from the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. Relative frequencies(RF) were estimated for major histological subtypes and compared according to the years of diagnosis and birth. Results The RF of adenocarcinoma(ADC) increased from 21.96% to 43.36% and the RF of squamous cell carcinoma(SCC) decreased from 39.11% to 32.23% from 2000 to 2012 in the 15 427 male lung cancer patients included in this study(Z=17.909,P<0.0001; Z=-6.117,P<0.0001). The RF of ADC increased from 28.72% in 2000-2004,36.88% in 2005-2008 to 48.61% in 2009-2012 in patients born after 1960. The age-adjusted RF of ADC in 2007-2012 increased consistently in all the investigated areas. Conclusion The increased RF of ADC in male lung cancer patients highlights the need for further investigation of the etiologic factors of these tumors. 3The causes and impacts for heat stress in spring maize during grain filling in the North China Plain--A review显示文摘High-temperature stress(HTS) at the grain-filling stage in spring maize(Zea mays L.) is the main obstacle to increasing productivity in the North China Plain(NCP). To solve this problem, the physiological mechanisms of HTS, and its causes and impacts, must be understood. The HTS threshold of the duration and rate in grain filling, photosynthetic characteristics(e.g., the thermal stability of thylakoid membrane, chlorophyll and electron transfer, photosynthetic carbon assimilation), water status(e.g., leaf water potential, turgor and leaf relative water content) and signal transduction in maize are reviewed. The HTS threshold for spring maize is highly desirable to be appraised to prevent damages by unfavorable temperatures during grain filling in this region. HTS has negative impacts on maize photosynthesis by damaging the stability of the thylakoid membrane structure and degrading chlorophyll, which reduces light energy absorption, transfer and photosynthetic carbon assimilation. In addition, photosynthesis can be deleteriously affected due to inhibited root growth under HTS in which plants decrease their water-absorbing capacity, leaf water potential, turgor, leaf relative water content, and stomatal conductance. Inhibited photosynthesis decrease the supply of photosynthates to the grain, leading to falling of kernel weight and even grain yield. However, maize does not respond passively to HTS. The plant transduces the abscisic acid(ABA) signal to express heat shock proteins(HSPs), which are molecular chaperones that participate in protein refolding and degradation caused by HTS. HSPs stabilize target protein configurations and indirectly improve thylakoid membrane structure stability, light energy absorption and passing, electron transport, and fixed carbon assimilation, leading to improved photosynthesis. ABA also induces stomatal closure to maintain a good water status for photosynthesis. Based on understanding of such mechanisms, strategies for alleviating HTS at the grain-filling stage in spring maize are summarized. Eight strategies have the potential to improve the ability of spring maize to avoid or tolerate HTS in this study, e.g., adjusting sowing date to avoidHTS, breeding heat-tolerance varieties, and tillage methods, optimizing irrigation, heat acclimation, regulating chemicals, nutritional management, and planting geometric design to tolerate HTS. 4Orogenic and Anorogenic Granitoids in the Altay Mountains of Xinjiang and Their Discrimination Criteria显示文摘On the basis of field geological studies of the granotoids in the region, mineralogical, petrological, geochemical(including stable isotope geochemical) and isotopic geochronological investigations were carried out on selected representative granitic bodies of various types. The authors have concluded that, apart from the bodies of the orogenic granitoid series, there also exist intrusions of the anorogenic granitoid series in the region. The intrusives of the two series were formed not only in different ages and tectonic environments, but also were derived from different sources of materials. Moreover, they are associated with different mineralizations, belonging to different minerologenetic series(Cheng et al., 1983). They show distinctly a series of discriminative criteria. 6The Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST)显示文摘The Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST, also called the Guo Shou Jing Telescope) is a special reflecting Schmidt telescope. LAMOST's special design allows both a large aperture (effective aperture of 3.6 m-4.9 m) and a wide field of view (FOV) (5°). It has an innovative active reflecting Schmidt configuration which continuously changes the mirror's surface that adjusts during the observation process and combines thin deformable mirror active optics with segmented active optics. Its primary mirror (6.67m×6.05 m) and active Schmidt mirror (5.74m×4.40 m) are both segmented, and composed of 37 and 24 hexagonal sub-mirrors respectively. By using a parallel controllable fiber positioning technique, the focal surface of 1.75 m in diameter can accommodate 4000 optical fibers. Also, LAMOST has 16 spectrographs with 32 CCD cameras. LAMOST will be the telescope with the highest rate of spectral acquisition. As a national large scientific project, the LAMOST project was formally proposed in 1996, and approved by the Chinese government in 1997. The construction started in 2001, was completed in 2008 and passed the official acceptance in June 2009. The LAMOST pilot survey was started in October 2011 and the spectroscopic survey will launch in September 2012. Up to now, LAMOST has released more than 480 000 spectra of objects. 7A wearable noncontact free-rotating hybrid nanogenerator for self-powered electronics显示文摘Self-powerability is a new trend in the development of portable devices.Harvesting biomechanical energy to power personal information electronics is of great significance.In this work,we report a wearable noncontact freerotating hybrid nanogenerator(WRG),which is constituted by a triboelectric nanogenerator and an electromagnetic generator.A continuous output over 2 seconds can be achieved during one instantaneous incentive by external force,which is improved by two orders of magnitude compared to other wearable nanogenerators due to its unique mechanical energy storage design.The WRG can be integrated into shoes to generate an output energy of 14.68 mJ in each stepping,which meets the power requirements of most personal information electronics.The wireless sensor,GPS,and smartphone can be powered by the WRG continuously.The WRG is expected to be applied in self-powered information electronics extensively in the future.Dongjie Jiang Han Ouyang Bojing Shi Yang Zou Puchuan Tan Xuecheng Qu Shengyu Chao Yuan Xi Chaochao Zhao Yubo Fan Zhou Li 2020InfoMat2020,2,6:8
8Extractable Fractions of Metals in Sewage Sludges from Five Typical Urban Wastewater Treatment Plants of China显示文摘Metal content and bioavailability are often the limiting factors for application of sewage sludge in agricultural fields. Sewage sludge samples were collected from five typical urban wastewater treatment plants in China to investigate their contents and distribution of various chemical fractions of Cu, Zn, Ni, Cr, Pb and Mo by using the BCR (Community Bureau of Reference) sequential extraction procedure. The sludges contained considerable amounts of organic matter (31.8%-48.0%), total N (16.3-26.4 g kg-1) and total P (15.1-23.9 g kg-1), indicating high potential agricultural benefits of their practical applications. However, total Zn and Ni contents in the sludge exceeded the values permitted in China's control standards for pollutants in sludges from agricultural use (GB 4284-1984). The residual fraction was the predominant fraction for Mo, Ni and Cr, the oxidizable fraction was the primary fraction for Cu and Pb, and the exchangeable and reducible fractions were principal for Zn. The distribution of different chemical fractions among the sludge samples reflected differences in their physicochemical properties, especially pH. The sludge pH was negatively correlated with the percentages of reducible fraction of Cu and exchangeable fraction of Zn. 9Independent Component Analysis and Graph Theoretical Analysis in Patients with Narcolepsy显示文摘The present study was aimed to evaluate restingstate functional connectivity and topological properties of brain networks in narcolepsy patients compared with healthy controls.Resting-state fMRI was performed in 26 adult narcolepsy patients and 30 matched healthy controls.MRI data were first analyzed by group independent component analysis,then a graph theoretical method was applied to evaluate the topological properties in the whole brain.Small-world network parameters and nodal topological properties were measured.Altered topological properties in brain areas between groups were selected as regionof-interest seeds,then the functional connectivity among these seeds was compared between groups.Partial correlation analysis was performed to evaluate the relationship between the severity of sleepiness and functional connectivity or topological properties in the narcolepsy patients.Twenty-one independent components out of 48 were obtained.Compared with healthy controls,the narcolepsy patients exhibited significantly decreased functional connectivity within the executive and salience networks,along with increased functional connectivity in the bilateral frontal lobes within the executive network.There were no differences in small-world network properties between patients and controls.The altered brain areas in nodal topological properties between groups were mainly in the inferior frontal cortex,basal ganglia,anterior cingulate,sensory cortex,supplementary motor cortex,and visual cortex.In the partial correlation analysis,nodal topological properties in the putamen,anterior cingulate,and sensory cortex as well as functional connectivity between these regions were correlated with the severity of sleepiness(sleep latency,REM sleep latency,and Epworth sleepiness score)among narcolepsy patients.Altered connectivity within the executive and salience networks was found in narcolepsy patients.Functional connection changes between the left frontal cortex and left caudate nucleus may be one of the parameters describing the severity of narcolepsy.Changes in the nodal topological properties in the left putamen and left posterior cingulate,changes in functional connectivity between the left supplementary motor area and right occipital as well as in functional connectivity between the left anterior cingulate gyrus and bilateral postcentral gyrus can be considered as a specific indicator for evaluating the severity of narcolepsy.Fulong Xiao Chao Lu Dianjiang Zhao Qihong Zou Liyue Xu Jing Li Jun Zhang Fang Han 2019Neuroscience Bulletin2019,35,4:7

11Cellulose fibers-reinforced self-expanding porous composite with multiple hemostatic efficacy and shape adaptability for uncontrollable massive hemorrhage treatment显示文摘Uncontrollable hemorrhage leads to high mortality and thus effective bleeding control becomes increasingly important in the military field and civilian trauma arena.However,current hemostats not only present limitation when treating major bleeding,but also have various side effects.Here we report a self-expanding porous composites(CMCP)based on novel carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC)fibers and acetalized polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)for lethal hemorrhage control.The CMC fibers with uniform fibrous structure,high liquid absorption and procoagulant ability,are evenly interspersed inside the composite matrix.The obtained composites possess unique fiber-porous network,excellent absorption capacity,fast liquid-triggered self-expanding ability and robust fatigue resistance,and their physicochemical performance can be fine-tuned through varying the CMC content.In vitro tests show that the porous composite exhibits strong blood clotting ability,high adhesion to blood cells and protein,and the ability to activate platelet and the coagulation system.In vivo hemostatic evaluation further confirms that the CMCP presents high hemostatic efficacy and multiple hemostatic effects in swine femoral artery major hemorrhage model.Additionally,the CMCP will not fall off from the injury site,and is also easy to surgically remove from the wound cavity after the hemostasis.Importantly,results of CT tomography and 3D reconstruction indicate that CMCP can achieve shape adaptation to the surrounding tissues and the wound cavities with different depths and shapes,to accelerate hemostasis while protecting wound tissue and preventing infection.Yansen Wang Yifan Zhao Longxue Qiao Faxing Zou Yajie Xie Yudong Zheng Yong Chao Ying Yang Wei He Siming Yang 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,7:6
12A phase I study of toripalimab, an anti-PD-1 antibody, in patients with refractory malignant solid tumors显示文摘Background:Several programmed cell death ligand 1(PD-L1)/programmed cell death protein 1(PD-1)antibodies have been approved for cancer treatmentworldwide.Their pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic characteristics have been reported mainly in western countries,but related data in Chinese patients are limited.This study was conducted to investigate the safety,efficacy,pharmacokinetics,and pharmacodynamics of an anti-PD-1 antibody,toripalimab,in Chinese patients.Methods:A single-center phase I study was conducted in Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center.Eligible patients were adults with histologically confirmed,treatment-refractory,advanced,solitary malignant tumors.Toripalimab was intravenously infused every 2 weeks in dose-escalating cohorts at 0.3mg/kg,1 mg/kg,3 mg/kg,10 mg/kg,and 240 mg.The study followed standard 3+3 design.Results:Between 15th March 2016 and 27th September 2016,25 patients were enrolled,of whom 3(12.0%),7(28.0%),6(24.0%),6(24.0%),3(12.0%)received 0.3 mg/kg,1 mg/kg,3 mg/kg,10 mg/kg,and 240 mg toripalimab,respectively.After a median follow-up time of 5.0 months(range:1.5-19.8 months),we observed that the commonest treatment-related adverse events(TRAEs)were fatigue(64.0%)and rash(24.0%).No grade 3 or higher TRAEs were observed.No dose-limiting toxicity,treatment-related serious adverse events(SAEs),or treatment-related death occurred.Objective response ratewas 12.5%.The half-life of toripalimabwas 150-222 h after a single dose infusion.Most patients,including those from the 0.3 mg/kg group,maintained complete PD-1 receptor occupancy(>80%)on activated T cells since receiving the first dose of toripalimab.Conclusions:Toripalimab is a promising anti-PD-1 antibody,which was well tolerated and demonstrated anti-tumor activity in treatment-refractory advanced solitary malignant tumors.Further exploration in various tumors and combination therapies is warranted.Xiao-LiWei Chao Ren Feng-HuaWang Yang Zhang Hong-Yun Zhao Ben-Yan Zou Zhi-Qiang Wang Miao-Zhen Qiu Dong-Sheng Zhang Hui-Yan Luo Feng Wang Sheng Yao Rui-Hua Xu 2020Cancer Communications2020,40,8:6

15Single-crystalline layered double hydroxides with rich defects and hierarchical structure by mild reduction for enhancing the oxygen evolution reaction显示文摘The oxygen evolution reaction(OER)with sluggish reaction kinetics and large overpotential is the critical reaction in water splitting that is promising for energy storage and conversion.Layered double hydroxides(LDHs),due to their unique lamellar structure and flexibility of chemical component,are very competing material candidates for OER.Herein,the morphology structure and the electronic structure of LDHs were simultaneously tuned to improve the OER catalytic activity by mild solvothermal reduction using ethylene glycol.The increased surface area,the introduction of oxygen vacancies and the construction of hierarchical structure greatly enhanced the electro-catalytic activity of LDHs for OER.The as-prepared LDHs showed a lower over-potential as low as 276 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm-2,and a small Tafel slope of 40.3 mV dec-1 accompanied with good stability.This work provides an efficient way to the design and optimization of advanced catalysts in the future.Peng Zhou Junying He Yuqin Zou Yanyong Wang Chao Xie Ru Chen Shuangquan Zang Shuangyin Wang 2019Science China Chemistry2019,62,10:5

17Stabilization Parametric Region of Distributed PID Controllers for General First-Order Multi-Agent Systems With Time Delay显示文摘The stabilization problem of distributed proportional-integral-derivative(PID)controllers for general first-order multi-agent systems with time delay is investigated in the paper.The closed-loop multi-input multi-output(MIMO)framework in frequency domain is firstly introduced for the multi-agent system.Based on the matrix theory,the whole system is decoupled into several subsystems with respect to the eigenvalues of the Laplacian matrix.Considering that the eigenvalues may be complex numbers,the consensus problem of the multi-agent system is transformed into the stabilizing problem of all the subsystems with complex coefficients.For each subsystem with complex coefficients,the range of admissible proportional gains is analytically determined.Then,the stabilizing region in the space of integral gain and derivative gain for a given proportional gain value is also obtained in an analytical form.The entire stabilizing set can be determined by sweeping proportional gain in the allowable range.The proposed method is conducted for general first-order multi-agent systems under arbitrary topology including undirected and directed graph topology.Besides,the results in the paper provide the basis for the design of distributed PID controllers satisfying different performance criteria.The simulation examples are presented to check the validity of the proposed control strategy.Xinyi Yu Fan Yang Chao Zou Linlin Ou 2020IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2020,7,6:5
18Diagnosis and treatment of Helicobacter pylori infections in children and elderly populations显示文摘Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)infection is associated with various gastric and extra-gastric diseases.Importantly,this infection is the strongest known risk factor for gastric cancer(GC).H.pylori eradication can effectively prevent H.pylori infectionassociated diseases in H.pylori-positive patients,including children and elderly subjects.However,a limited selection of antibiotics,a higher reinfection rate,and certain spontaneous clearance rates,to some extent,restrict the choice of H.pylori treatments in pediatrics.In addition,it is imperative to perform an accurate diagnosis of H.pylori infection in children by determining the presence of the H.pylori infection and the underlying cause of symptoms.In elderly patients,poor tolerance to drugs and higher sensitivity to adverse effects are major concerns during H.pylori therapy.Recent studies have demonstrated that H.pylori eradication could significantly lower the GC risk in the elderly population.The benefit and risk of H.pylori eradication in elderly patients should be comprehensively considered and balanced.If available,susceptibility-based tailored therapies may be preferable in eradicating H.pylori.In addition,to increase the eradication rate and reduce adverse effects,new therapeutic strategies(e.g.,probiotic supplementation,berberine supplementation,dual therapy)for H.pylori infection are being extensively investigated.The impact of H.pylori eradication with antibiotics on the microbiota in children has been explored,but further high-quality studies are crucial to delineate the extent of H.pylori eradication affecting the microbial community in children.In this review,we summarize the current understanding of H.pylori diagnosis and treatment in children and the elderly population and aim to provide insights into the efficient management and treatment implementation in these populations.Chao Peng Yi Hu Zhong-Ming Ge Quan-Ming Zou Nong-Hua Lyu 2019Chronic Diseases and Translational Medicine2019,5,4:5
19Genome-wide characterization and expression analysis of WRKY family genes during development and resistance to Colletotrichum fructicola in cultivated strawberry(Fragaria×ananassa Duch.)显示文摘Based on the recently published whole-genome sequence of cultivated strawberry ’Camarosa’, in this study, 222FaWRKY genes were identified in the ’Camarosa’ genome. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the 222 FaWRKY candidate genes were classified into three groups, of which 41 were in group Ⅰ, 142 were in group Ⅱ, and 39 were in group Ⅲ. The 222 FaWRKY genes were evenly distributed among the seven chromosomes. The exon–intron structures and motifs of the WRKY genes had evolutionary diversity in different cultivated strawberry genomes. Regarding differential expression, the expression of FaWRKY133 was relatively high in leaves, while FaWRKY63 was specifically expressed in roots. FaWRKY207, 59, 46, 182, 156, 58, 39, 62 and 115 were up-regulated during achene development from the green to red fruit transition. FaWRK181, 166 and 211 were highly expressed in receptacles at the ripe fruit stage. One interesting finding was that Fa WRKY179 and 205 were significantly repressed after Colletotrichum fructicola inoculation in both ’Benihoppe’ and ’Sweet Charlie’ compared with Mock. 20Differences in the Efficiency of Potassium(K) Uptake and Use in Five Apple Rootstock Genotypes显示文摘Plants that grow well while accumulating and transporting less potassium(K) perform better than more-sensitive plants when under deficiency conditions, which makes low-K-input and environmentally friendly agriculture possible. We conducted hydroponics and sand culture experiments to evaluate the efficiency of various apple(Malus domestica Borkh) rootstocks in their K uptake and utilization. Five genotypes were selected which are widely used in China- M. hupehensis Rehd, M. prunifolia Borkh, M. robusta Rehd, M. sieversii Roem, and M. rockii Rehd. Plant heights, root and shoot dry weights, and K concentrations were recorded. These genotypes differed markedly in dry weights, absolute and relative K concentrations, absolute and relative K accumulations, and their K efficiency ratio under deficient K conditions. The last parameter, expressed as relative shoot dry weight, was strongly and positively correlated with the other four parameters in each genotype. Therefore, we suggest that this parameter could serve as an index when selecting K-efficient genotypes.
