| 7 | Comparative phylogeography of two sister species of snowcock: impacts of species-specific altitude preference and life history显示文摘Background: Phylogeographical patterns and population dynamics are usually interpreted by environmental disturbances and geographic barriers of the past. However, sister species may exhibit disparate patterns of genetic structures and population dynamics due to their habitat preference and altitude segregation. In this study, we tested how species-specific altitude habitat affected phylogeographical patterns in two sister snowcock species, Tibetan(Tetraogallus tibetanus) and Himalayan Snowcocks(T. himalayensis).Methods: A panel of seven microsatellite loci and a fragment of Mitochondrial DNA Control Region were used to investigate genetic structures and population dynamics in hope of revealing the underlying evolutionary processes through the identification of possible past demographic events.Results: Our results suggest that T. himalayensis showed a significant phylogeographical signal in mtDNA(FST microsatellite(F the glacial-interglacial cycles in the = 0.66, p < 0.001) and ST Pleistocene and followed demog= 0.11, p < 0.001) data and is stable duringraphic contraction until 0.003 million years(Mys) ago. The phylogeographical signal of T. tibetanus is lower than the level of genetic difference among populations in mtDNA(FST icrosatellite(F= 0.41, p < 0.001) and mST s been experien= 0.09, p < 0.001) data, likely benefiting from stable habitats over a long period of time. T. tibetanus hacing expansion since 0.09 Mys ago. However, an abnormally haplotype H9 from T. himalayensis clustering with T. tibetanus was spotted.Conclusion: Our results indicate that differences in habitat preference and altitude specialities were reflected in the genetic structure patterns and population dynamics of these two species. These dissimilarities in life history traits might have affected the dispersal and survival abilities of these two species differently during environmental fluctuations. | 11 | Dietary lysozyme improves growth performance and intestinal barrier function of weaned piglets显示文摘Lysozyme(LZ)is a purely natural,nonpolluting and nonspecific immune factor,which has beneficial effects on the healthy development of animals.In this study,the influences of LZ on the growth performance and intestinal barrier of weaned piglets were studied.A total of 48 weaned piglets(Landrace×Yorkshire,22 d old)were randomly divided into a control group(basal diet)and a LZ group(0.1%LZ diet)for 19 d.The results showed that LZ could significantly improve the average daily gain(ADG,P<0.05)and average daily feed intake(ADFI,P<0.05).LZ also improved the intestinal morphology and significantly increased the expression of occludin in the jejunum(P<0.05).In addition,LZ down-regulated the expression of interleukin-1β(IL-1β,P<0.05)and tumor necrosis factor-a(TNF-a,P<0.05),and inhibited the expression of the genes in the nuclear factor-k-gene binding(NF-κB,P<0.05)signaling pathway.More importantly,the analysis of intestinal flora showed LZ increased the abundance of Firmicutes(P<0.05)and the ratio of Firmicutes to Bacteroidota(P=0.09)at the phylum level,and increased the abundance of Clostridium_sensu_stricto_1(P<0.05)and reduced the abundance of Olsenella and Prevotella(P<0.05)at the genus level.In short,this study proved that LZ could effectively improve the growth performance,relieve inflammation and improve the intestinal barrier function of weaned piglets.These findings provided an important theoretical basis for the application of LZ in pig production. | Yuying Wu Bei Cheng Longxiang Ji Xiangyun Lv Yingying Feng Liu’an Li Xin Wu | 2023 | Animal Nutrition2023,,3: | 0 |

| 17 | Influences of CeO_(2)morphology on enhanced performance of electro-Fenton for wastewater treatment显示文摘As a kind of rare-earth oxide,CeO_(2)has been considered as a great potential material for its abundant oxygen vacancies and catalysis activity in wastewater treatment.In this study,three ceria samples with different morphological structure were prepared,and their effect on contaminates degradation in electro-Fenton(E-Fenton)system was investigated.It is found that the morphology of CeO_(2)has great influence on promoting the performance of E-Fenton process.The rod-like CeO_(2)(R-CeO_(2))induced EFenton system shows higher azo dye X3 B removal and mineralization rates than cubs(C-CeO_(2))and octahedrons(O-CeO_(2)),and the degradation kinetic rate constants are 0.28,0.169 and 0.181 min^(-1)respectively,already surpass that of the blank one(0.120 min^(-1)).The H_(2)O_(2)generation capacity of R-CeO_(2)induced E-Fenton system is also superior to the others,and the corresponding Faraday current efficiency even increases to 166.2%at 2.5 min.Characterizations by scanning-transmission electron microscopy(STEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),electron spin resonance(ESR),Raman spectroscopy were conducted to disclose the mystery behind this phenomenon.The results indicate that the difference of surface oxygen vacancy density in different shaped CeO_(2)acts as a magic driving force for the accelerated oxygen reduction,and then leads to the enhanced degradation efficiency of E-Fenton system.This work provides a new insight into the development and application of rare-earth elements based catalyst in E-Fenton technology. | Jingjing Hu Bei Wu Lei Chen Chengcheng Song Huifang Yang Fei Long Jie Sun Ru'an Chi | 2022 | Journal of Rare Earths2022,40,12: | 0 |
| 18 | Asymmetrical introgression patterns between rusty-necklaced partridge (Alectoris magna) and chukar partridge (Alectoris chukar) in China显示文摘The rusty-necklaced partridge(Alectoris magna)and the chukar partridge(Alectoris chukar)are the most common gamebirds in northern China.Previous comparisons of mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA)have revealed an introgression phenomenon between 2 species of partridge in the Liupan Mountain region of China.mtDNA is maternally inherited,making it difficult to determine the origin of parental genes.We assessed the genetic variation and gene flow between these 2 species of partridges using 8 microsatellite loci as neutral diagnostic markers in 171 samples from the hybrid zone.Our data revealed an extensive divergence of genetic structure between populations of rusty-necklaced partridges and chukar partridges.In this study,we found that 19 samples had been previously morphologically identified as rusty-necklaced partridge were genetically identified as hybrids through Bayesian analysis using STRUCTURE analysis.These hybrids exhibited a mosaic of alleles that were derived from both parental lineages.However,chukar partridges did not present the genotype of the rusty-necklaced partridge.Thus,our findings demonstrate that the hybridization between the 2 species was the result of asymmetrical introgression,with gene flow occurring only from the chukar partridge to the rusty-necklaced partridge.In addition,we also note the high linkage disequilibrium in populations of the rusty-necklaced partridge.These results indicate that although unidirectional introgression did not reduce genetic diversity of the Alectoris partridges,it affected the balance of gene flow between populations.The data from microsatellite DNA prompted our concern about the genetic integrity of the rusty-necklaced partridge. | Yanke CHEN Bei AN Naifa LIU | 2016 | Integrative Zoology2016,11,5: | 0 |
| 19 | Incubation strategies of the Black-necked Crane(Grus nigricollis) in relation to ambient temperature and time of day显示文摘Background: The behavior of cranes reflects many of their survival strategies, but little has been known of the incubation strategies of cranes, in which both parents share incubation duties, in response to cold temperatures in alpine environments. The lack of information may restrict the effective conservation of the threatened Black-necked Crane(Grus nigricollis), a biparental bird nesting in high elevation wetlands.Methods: We directly observed and used infrared video cameras from 2014 to 2015 to study the incubation behavior and quantitatively measured the frequency and details of egg turning behavior in the Black-necked Crane at the Yanchiwan National Nature Reserve in western Gansu Province, China.Results: At lower ambient temperatures in the morning, crane parents spent more time on the nest with less recess frequency and prolonged on-bout duration, while at higher temperatures around noon, the parents had more frequent recesses from incubation and shorter periods between nest exchanges. They adjusted the amount of time incubating by varying the recess frequency and the length of on-bout duration. Mean nest attendance and egg turning frequency of females were significantly higher than those of the males. The nest attendance and on-bout duration of females showed a significantly negative relationship with those of males. The two parents responded differently to the change of temperature. Females spent more time on the nest at lower morning temperatures, while males increased their time on the nest at higher temperatures after noon. Higher incubation recess frequency and egg turning frequency were observed at noon, probably because parents spent more time foraging, taking advantage of the lower egg cooling rate.Conclusion: Both Black-necked Crane parents in the alpine environment adjusted their behavior in response to the thermal requirements of eggs and the weather conditions experienced.
