1Surfactant induced reservoir wettability alteration:Recent theoretical and experimental advances in enhanced oil recovery显示文摘Reservoir wettability plays an important role in various oil recovery processes.The origin and evolution of reservoir wettability were critically reviewed to better understand the complexity of wettability due to interactions in crude oil-brine-rock system,with introduction of different wetting states and their influence on fluid distribution in pore spaces.The effect of wettability on oil recovery of waterflooding was then summarized from past and recent research to emphasize the importance of wettability in oil displacement by brine.The mechanism of wettability alteration by different surfactants in both carbonate and sandstone reservoirs was analyzed,concerning their distinct surface chemistry,and different interaction patterns of surfactants with components on rock surface.Other concerns such as the combined effect of wettability alteration and interfacial tension (IFT) reduction on the imbibition process was also taken into account.Generally,surfactant induced wettability alteration for enhanced oil recovery is still in the stage of laboratory investigation.The successful application of this technique relies on a comprehensive survey of target reservoir conditions,and could be expected especially in low permeability fractured reservoirs and forced imbibition process.Wang Yefei XU Huaimin Yu Weizhao Bai Baojun Song Xinwang Zhang Jichao 2011Petroleum Science2011,8,4:14

8Classification of different walnut varieties using low-field nuclear magnetic resonance technology and cluster analysis显示文摘To classify different walnut varieties based on water and oil content of walnut,and determine their storage conditions,the low-field nuclear magnetic resonance(LFNMR)technology was used to obtain the NMR transverse relaxation time(T 2)of the samples based on the physical and chemical indicators of the walnut quality.The relationship between the relaxation time and phase state of the internal material of the sample was investigated,and the characteristic parameters of the NMR spectrum signals were statistically analyzed using cluster analysis to determine the different walnut varieties,and three different components,as well as their contents,were detected by a LFNMR spectrometer:firmly bound water,weakly bound water,and weakly bound oil.Test results indicated that the oil peak was dominant in the overall signal intensity compared to the water peaks,in which the firmly bound water phase contributed more to the overall water signal between the water peaks.Using the analytic hierarchy process of cluster analysis,21 walnut samples were classified into three different classes,based on the characteristic parameters of the water-content and oil-content spectrum signals.The first class contains four walnut varieties characterized by least water and highest oil contents;the third class contains two walnut varieties,with the highest water content and least oil content;whereas,the second class contains 15 walnut varieties,with both water and oil contents at medium levels.The results showed that LFNMR led to a rapid detection of moisture and oil contents in walnuts,while cluster analysis classified different walnuts varieties based on these parameters.This study also provided the basis for optimizing the storage methods and storage conditions of walnuts.Ping Song He Gao Baojun Zhao Aiguo Zhang Feng Liu 2019International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2019,12,6:1

15Optimizing protected areas to boost the conservation of key protected wildlife in China显示文摘To meet the challenge of biodiversity loss and reach the targets of the proposed Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework,the Chinese government updated the list of national key protected wildlife in 2021 and has been continually expanding the protected areas(PAs).However,the status of protected wildlife in PAs remains unclear.In this study,we conducted a national assessment of the status of protected wildlife and suggested an optimization plan to overcome these shortcomings.From 1988 to 2021,the number of protected species almost doubled,and the area of PAs increased by 2.4 times,covering over 92.8%of the protected species.Nonetheless,some protected species have less than 10%of their habitat included in PAs.Despite the significant addition of amphibians and reptiles to the latest protection list,they are the fewest species and are the least covered by PAs compared with birds and mammals.To fix these gaps,we systematically optimized the current PAs network by adding another 10.0%of China’s land area as PAs,which resulted in 37.6%coverage of protected species’habitats in PAs.In addition,26 priority areas were identified.Our research aimed to identify gaps in current conservation policies and suggest optimization solutions to facilitate wildlife conservation planning in China.In general,updating the list of key protected wildlife species and systematically optimizing PA networks are essential and applicable to other countries facing biodiversity loss.Chunrong Mi Kai Song Liang Ma Jiliang Xu Baojun Sun Yuehua Sun Jianguo Liu Weiguo Du 2023The Innovation2023,4,3:1

17The morphological changes of basal channels based on multisource remote sensing data at the Pine Island Ice Shelf显示文摘The basal channel is a detailed morphological feature of the ice shelf caused by uneven basal melting.This kind of specifically morphology is widely distributed in polar ice shelves.It is an important research object of sea-ice interaction and plays a vital role in studying the relationship between the ice sheet/ice shelf and global warming.In this paper,high-resolution remote sensing image and ice penetration data were combined to extract the basal channel of the Pine Island Ice Shelf.The depth variation of Pine Island Ice Shelf in the recent 20 years was analyzed and discussed by using ICESat-1,ICESat-2,and IceBridge data.Combined with relevant marine meteorological elements(sea surface temperature,surface melting days,circumpolar deep water and wind)to analyze the basal channel changes,the redistribution of ocean heat is considered to be the most important factor affecting the evolution and development of the basal channel.Xiangyu Song Zemin Wang Jianbin Song Baojun Zhang Mingliang Liu 2023Acta Oceanologica Sinica2023,42,12:0
18The variation in basal channels and basal melt rates of Pine Island Ice Shelf显示文摘In recent years,there has been a significant acceleration in the thinning,calving and retreat of the Pine Island Ice Shelf(PIIS).The basal channels,results of enhanced basal melting,have the potential to significantly impact the stability of the PIIS.In this study,we used a variety of remote sensing data,including Landsat,REMA DEM,ICESat-1 and ICESat-2 satellite altimetry observations,and Ice Bridge airborne measurements,to study the spatiotemporal changes in the basal channels from 2003 to 2020 and basal melt rate from 2010 to 2017 of the PIIS under the Eulerian framework.We found that the basal channels are highly developed in the PIIS,with a total length exceeding 450 km.Most of the basal channels are ocean-sourced or groundingline-sourced basal channels,caused by the rapid melting under the ice shelf or near the groundingline.A raised seabed prevented warm water intrusion into the eastern branch of the PIIS,resulting in a lower basal melt rate in that area.In contrast,a deepsea trough facilitates warm seawater into the mainstream and the western branch of the PIIS,resulting in a higher basal melt rate in the main-stream,and the surface elevation changes above the basal channels of the mainstream and western branch are more significant.The El Ni?o event in 2015–2016 possibly slowed down the basal melting of the PIIS by modulating wind field,surface sea temperature and depth seawater temperature.Ocean and atmospheric changes were driven by El Ni?o,which can further explain and confirm the changes in the basal melting of the PIIS.Mingliang Liu Zemin Wang Baojun Zhang Xiangyu Song Jiachun An 2024Acta Oceanologica Sinica2024,43,1:0
19OBSERVATION OF AN OUTBURST OF COMET HALE-BOPP IN SEPTEMBER 1996显示文摘The light curve and images of comet Hale-Bopp(C/1995 O1) in Sept. 1996 are studied. It is found that an outburst happened in Sept. 10-11, 1996. The magnitude of the inner coma region increased by 2.1 mag. and 1.4 mag. on these two days, respectively. Two globular ejecta were found near the nucleus of the comet in Sept.10 and 11, 1996. By extropolating backward from the ejecta, it is found that the initial time of the outburst was on Sept. 9, 1996 (9.5±0.2UT). The physical reason for this outburst is still uncertain. 20Estimating the quarantine failure rate for COVID-19显示文摘Quarantine is a crucial control measure in reducing imported COVID-19 cases and community transmissions.However,some quarantined COVID-19 patients may show symptoms after finishing quarantine due to a long median incubation period,potentially causing community transmissions.To assess the recommended 14-day quarantine policy,we develop a formula to estimate the quarantine failure rate from the incubation period distribution and the epidemic curve.We found that the quarantine failure rate increases with the exponential growth rate of the epidemic curve.We apply our formula to United States,Canada,and Hubei Province,China.Before the lockdown of Wuhan City,the quarantine failure rate in Hubei Province is about 4.1%.If the epidemic curve flattens or slowly decreases,the failure rate is less than 2.8%.The failure rate in US may be as high as 8.3%-11.5%due to a shorter 10-day quarantine period,while the failure rate in Canada may be between 2.5%and 3.9%.A 21-day quarantine period may reduce the failure rate to 0.3%-0.5%.Meili Li Qianqian Yuan Pian Chen Baojun Song Junling Ma 2021Infectious Disease Modelling2021,6,1:0
