| 1 | Endothelium-Mimicking Multifunctional Coating Modified Cardiovascular Stents via a Stepwise Metal-Catechol-(Amine)Surface Engineering Strategy显示文摘Stenting is currently the major therapeutic treatment for cardiovascular diseases.However,the nonbiogenic metal stents are inclined to trigger a cascade of cellular and molecular events including inflammatory response,thrombogenic reactions,smooth muscle cell hyperproliferation accompanied by the delayed arterial healing,and poor reendothelialization,thus leading to restenosis along with late stent thrombosis.To address prevalence critical problems,we present an endothelium-mimicking coating capable of rapid regeneration of a competently functioning new endothelial layer on stents through a stepwise metal(copper)-catechol-(amine)(MCA)surface chemistry strategy,leading to combinatorial endothelium-like functions with glutathione peroxidase-like catalytic activity and surface heparinization.Apart from the stable nitric oxide(NO)generating rate at the physiological level(2:2×10^(-10) mol/cm^(2)/min lasting for 60 days),this proposed strategy could also generate abundant amine groups for allowing a high heparin conjugation efficacy up to∼1μg/cm^(2),which is considerably higher than most of the conventional heparinized surfaces.The resultant coating could create an ideal microenvironment for bringing in enhanced antithrombogenicity,anti-inflammation,anti-proliferation of smooth muscle cells,re-endothelialization by regulating relevant gene expressions,hence preventing restenosis in vivo.We envision that the stepwise MCA coating strategy would facilitate the surface endothelium-mimicking engineering of vascular stents and be therefore helpful in the clinic to reduce complications associated with stenosis. | Ying Yang Peng Gao Juan Wang Qiufen Tu Long Bai Kaiqin Xiong Hua Qiu Xin Zhao Manfred FMaitz Huaiyu Wang Xiangyang Li Qiang Zhao Yin Xiao Nan Huang Zhilu Yang | 2020 | Research2020,,1: | 8 |
| 2 | Identification of powdery mildew resistance loci in wheat by integrating genome-wide association study(GWAS) and linkage mapping显示文摘Wheat powdery mildew(Blumeria graminis f.sp.tritici, Bgt) is a disease of increasing importance globally due to the adoption of high yielding varieties and modern sustainable farming technologies.Growing resistant cultivars is a preferred approach to managing this disease, and novel powdery mildew resistance genes are urgently needed for new cultivar development.A genome-wide association study was performed on a panel of 1292 wheat landraces and historical cultivars using 5011 single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)markers.The association panel was evaluated for reactions to three Bgt inoculants, OKS(14)-B-3-1, OKS(14)-C-2-1, and Bgt15.Linkage disequilibrum(LD) analysis indicated that genome-wide LD decayed to 0.1 at 23 Mb, and population structure analysis revealed seven subgroups in the panel.Association analysis using a mixed linear model(MLM) identified three loci for powdery mildew resistance on chromosome 2 B, designated QPm.stars-2BL1,QPm.stars-2BL2, and QPm.stars-2BL3.To evaluate the efficacy of GWAS in gene discovery,QPm.stars-2BL2 was validated using F2 and F2:3 populations derived from PI420646 × OK1059060-126135-3.Linkage analysis delimited the powdery mildew resistance gene in PI 420646 to an interval where QPm.stars-2BL2 was located, lending credence to the GWAS results.QPm.stars-2BL1 and QPm.stars-2BL3, which were associated with four SNPs located at 457.7–461.7 Mb and two SNPs located at 696.6–715.9 Mb in the Chinese Spring reference IWGSC RefSeq v1.0, respectively, are likely novel loci for powdery mildew resistance and can be used in wheat breeding to improve powdery mildew resistance. | Genqiao Li Xiangyang Xu Chengcheng Tan Brett F.Carver Guihua Bai Xuewen Wang J.Michael Bonman Yanqi Wu Robert Hunger Christina Cowger | 2019 | The Crop Journal2019,7,3: | 2 |

Growing resistant cultivars is an effective strategy to minimize the impact of leaf rust on yield and grain quality. Lr42 is a leaf rust resistance gene identified from Aegilops tauschii and is still effective against current predominant leaf rust races in the United States and many other countries. In this study, we developed diagnostic DNA markers for Lr42 using the sequence polymorphisms of a differentially expressed gene(TaRPM1) encoding a putative NBARC protein in the Lr42 candidate region identified by RNA-sequencing of two near-isogenic lines contrasting in Lr42 alleles. Markers were designed based on a deletion mutation and a single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) in the gene. Haplotype analyses of the newly developed markers in the three diversity panels demonstrated that they are diagnostic for Lr42, and superior to previously used markers in selection accuracy. | 18 | Benzohydrazide Derivatives: Gelation and Application in Oil Spill Recovery显示文摘The synthesis and gelation properties of a series of organogelators containing a benzohydrazide unit and two alkoxy chams(oBn) were reported herein. oBn(n=8, 10, 12) could form stable gels in commercial fuels(e.g., diesel), which were characterized by low critical gelation concentrations(CGCs) and good mechanical properties (G'>10^5 Pa). The gelation process was further studied by field-emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) and X-ray diffraction(XRD), etc. It was demonstrated that in these organogels, molecules self^assembled into fibrils 3D-network, where hydrogen bonding, van der Waals force and π-π interaction were confirmed as the driving forces. As compounds oBn(n=8, 10, 12) show very good gelation properties in diesel, their applications in oil spill treatment have also been tested. It was found tliat oBw could achieve rapid (<30 s) and effective oil removal at room temperature, being good candidates for oil spill treatment in the future. | 20 | Genomic location of Gb1, a unique gene conferring wheat resistance to greenbug biotype F显示文摘Greenbug(Schizaphis graminum, Rondani) is a serious insect pest in many wheat growing regions and has been infesting cereal crops in the USA for over a century. Continuous occurrence of new greenbug biotypes makes it essential to explore all greenbug resistant sources available to manage this pest. Gb1, a recessive greenbug resistance gene in DS28A, confers resistance to several economically important greenbug biotypes and is the only gene found to be resistant to greenbug biotype F. A set of 174 F_(2:3)lines from the cross DS28A × Custer was evaluated for resistance to greenbug biotype F in 2020 and 2022. Selective genotyping of the corresponding F_(2) population using single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) markers generated by genotyping-by-sequencing(GBS) led to the identification of a candidate genomic region for Gb1. Thus, SSR markers previously mapped in this region were used to genotype the entire F2population,and kompetitive allele specific PCR(KASP) markers were also developed from SNPs in the target region.Gb1 was placed in the terminal region of the short arm of chromosome 1A, and its location was confirmed in a second population derived from the cross DS28A × PI 697274.
