| 1 | Removal of sulfamethazine antibiotics by aerobic sludge and an isolated Achromobacter sp.S-3显示文摘Removal characteristics of sulfamethazine(SMZ) by sludge and a bacterial strain using an aerobic sequence batch reactor(ASBR) were studied.Operating conditions were optimized by varying the reaction time and sludge retention time(SRT).An Achromobacter sp.(S-3) with the ability to remove SMZ was isolated from the ASBR.The effects of different operating parameters(pH and temperature) on the biodegradation of SMZ by S-3 were determined.The results indicate that,between 0.5 and 4 hr,reaction time of the ASBR had a significant effect on the SMZ removal efficiency in the system.The SMZ removal efficiency also increased from 45% to 80% when SRT was prolonged from 5 to 25 days,although longer SRT had no impact on SMZ removal.The SMZ adsorption rate decreased with increasing temperature,which fitted Freundlich isotherm well.The removal of SMZ in the ASBR was due to the combined effects of adsorption and degradation,and degradation played a leading role. | Manhong Huang Shixuan Tian Donghui Chen Wei Zhang Jun Wu Liang Chen | 2012 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,9: | 12 |

| 3 | Growth and Feed Efficiency of Juvenile Shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei Fed Formulated Diets Containing Different Levels of Poultry by-Product Meal显示文摘This feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the potential of poultry by-product meal (PBM) as a protein source in the culture of Litopenaeus vannamei. Seven isonitrogenous and isoenergetic diets were formulated to near to commercial diet with about 40% protein and 7.5% lipid. Fish meal was replaced by 0, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70% and 100% of PBM (diets 1-7). The diet with 100% fish meal was used as a control (diet 1). Post-larvae were reared in an indoor semi-closed re-circulating system. Each dietary treatment was tested in 4 replicate tanks (260 L) of 40 shrimp, arranged in a completely randomized design. The shrimps were hand-fed for three times a day to near-satiation (0700, 1200 and 1800) for 60 d. Percentage weight gain, survival, feed conversion ratio (FCR), protein efficiency ratio (PER) and body composition of shrimps were measured. There were no significant differences (P>0.05) in growth performance among shrimps fed diets 1-5 (0-60% fish meal replacement). However, shrimps fed diet 7 (100% fish meal replacement) had significantly lower (P<0.05) growth than those fed diets 1-5 (0-60% fish meal replacement). Shrimp fed diets 2-4 (30%-50% fish meal replacement) showed significantly higher growth than those fed diets 6 and 7 (70% and 100% fish meal replacement, respectively). Survival ranged from 94.7% to 100.0% and did not differ significantly (P>0.05) among different experimental diets. No differences in body composition were found among shrimps fed different diets. | 5 | Serum semaphorin 4C as a diagnostic biomarker in breast cancer:A multicenter retrospective study显示文摘Background:To date,there is no approved blood-based biomarker for breast cancer detection.Herein,we aimed to assess semaphorin 4C(SEMA4C),a pivotal protein involved in breast cancer progression,as a serum diagnostic biomarker.Methods:We included 6,213 consecutive inpatients from Tongji Hospital,Qilu Hospital,and Hubei Cancer Hospital.Training cohort and two validation cohorts were introduced for diagnostic exploration and validation.A pan-cancer cohort was used to independently explore the diagnostic potential of SEMA4C among solid tumors.Breast cancer patients who underwent mass excision prior to modified radical mastectomy were also analyzed.We hypothesized that increased pretreatment serum SEMA4C levels,measured using optimized in-house enzymelinked immunosorbent assay kits,could detect breast cancer.The endpoints were diagnostic performance,including area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC),sensitivity,and specificity.Post-surgery pathological diagnosis was the reference standard and breast cancer staging followed the TNM classification.There was no restriction on disease stage for eligibilities.Results:We included 2667 inpatients with breast lesions,2378 patients with other solid tumors,and 1168 healthy participants.Specifically,118 patients with breast cancer were diagnosed with stage 0(5.71%),620 with stage I(30.00%),966 with stage II(46.73%),217 with stage III(10.50%),and 8 with stage IV(0.39%).Patients with breast cancer had significantly higher serum SEMA4C levels than benign breast tumor patients and normal controls(P<0.001).Elevated serum SEMA4C levels had AUC of 0.920(95%confidence interval[CI]:0.900–0.941)and 0.932(95%CI:0.911–0.953)for breast cancer detection in the two validation cohorts.The AUCs for detecting early-stage breast cancer(n=366)and ductal carcinoma in situ(n=85)were 0.931(95%CI:0.916–0.946)and 0.879(95%CI:0.832–0.925),respectively.Serum SEMA4C levels significantly decreased after surgery,and the reduction was more striking after modified radical mastectomy,compared with mass excision(P<0.001).The positive rate of enhanced serum SEMA4C levels was 84.77%for breast cancer and below 20.75%for the other 14 solid tumors.Conclusions:Serum SEMA4C demonstrated promising potential as a candidate biomarker for breast cancer diagnosis.However,validation in prospective settings and by other study groups is warranted. | Ya Wang Long Qiao Jie Yang Xiong Li Yaqi Duan Jiahao Liu Shaoqi Chen Huayi Li Dan Liu Tian Fang Jingjing Ma Xiaoting Li Fei Ye Junxiang Wan Juncheng Wei Qin Xu Ensong Guo Ping Jin Mingfu Wu Lin Zhang Yun Xia Yaqun Wu Jun Shao Yaojun Feng Qing Zhang Zongyuan Yang Gang Chen Qinghua Zhang Xingrui Li Shixuan Wang Junbo Hu Xiaoyun Wang Mona P.Tan Kazuaki Takabe Beihua Kong Qifeng Yang Ding Ma Qinglei Gao | 2021 | Cancer Communications2021,41,12: | 3 |

| 9 | Construction of bilayer PdSe2 on epitaxial graphene显示文摘Two-dimensional (2D) materials have received significant attention due totheir unique physical properties and potential applications in electronics andoptoelectronics. Recent studies have demonstrated that exfoliated PdSe2, alayered transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD), exhibits ambipolar field-effecttransistor (FET) behavior with notable performance and good air stability, andthus serves as an emerging candidate for 2D electronics. Here, we report thegrowth of bilayer PdSe2 on a graphene-SiC(0001) substrate by molecular beamepitaxy (MBE). A bandgap of 1.15±0.07 eV was revealed by scanning tunnelingspectroscopy (STS). Moreover, a bandgap shift of 0.2 eV was observed in PdSe2layers grown on monolayer graphene as compared to those grown on bilayergraphene. The realization of nanoscale electronic junctions with atomicallysharp boundaries in 2D PdSe2 implies the possibility of tuning its electronicor optoelectronic properties. In addition, on top of the PdSe2 bilayers, PdSe2nanoribbons and stacks of nanoribbons with a fixed orientation have beenfabricated. | 10 | A polyethylene microsphere-coated separator with rapid thermal shutdown function for lithium-ion batteries显示文摘Thermal runaway is the main factor contributing to the unsafe behaviors of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)in practical applications.The application of separators for the thermal shutdown has been proven as an effective approach to protecting LIBs from thermal runaway.In this work,we developed a thermal shutdown separator by coating a thin layer of low-density polyethylene microspheres(PM)onto a commercial porous polypropylene(PP)membrane and investigated the thermal response behaviors of the as-prepared PM/PP separator in LIBs.The structural and thermal analysis results revealed that the coated PM layer had a porous structure,which facilitated the occurrence of normal charge-discharge reactions at ambient temperature,although it could melt completely and fuse together within very short time periods:3 s at 110℃and 1 s at 120℃,to block off the pores of the PP substrate,thereby cutting off the ion transportation between the electrodes and interrupting the battery reaction.Consequently,the PM/PP separator exhibits very similar electrochemical performance to that of a conventional separator at ambient temperature.However,it performs a rapid thermal shutdown at an elevated temperature of^110℃,thus controlling the temperature rise and maintaining the cell in a safe status.Due to its synthetic simplicity and low cost,this separator shows promise for possible application in building safe LIBs. | Chongrong Zhang Hui Li Shixuan Wang Yuliang Cao Hanxi Yang Xinping Ai Faping Zhong | 2020 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,5: | 2 |
| 11 | Correlation of DNA methylation patterns to the phenotypic features of Tibetan elite alpinists in extreme hypoxia显示文摘High altitude is an extreme environment that imposes hypoxic pressure on physiological processes,and natives living at high altitudes are more adaptive in certain physiological processes.So far,epigenetic modifications under extreme changes in hypoxic pressures are relatively less understood.Here,we recruit 32 Tibetan elite alpinists(TEAs),who have successfully mounted Everest(8848 m)at least five times.Blood samples and physiological phenotypes of TEAs and 32 matched non-alpinist Tibetan volunteers(non-TEAs)are collected for analysis.Genome-wide DNA methylation analysis identifies 23,202 differentially methylated CpGs(P_(adj)<0.05,|β|>0.1)between the two groups.Some differentially methylated CpGs are in hypoxia-related genes such as PPP1R13L,MAP3K7CL,SEPTI-9,and CUL2.In addition,Gene ontology enrichment analysis reveals several inflammation-related pathways.Phenotypic analysis indicates that 12 phenotypes are significantly different between the two groups.In particular,TEAs exhibit higher blood oxygen saturation levels and lower neutrophil count,platelet count,and heart rate.For DNA methylation association analysis,we find that two CpGs(cg16687447,cg06947206)upstream of PTEN were associated with platelet count.In conclusion,extreme hypoxia exposure leads to epigenetic modifications and phenotypic alterations of TEA,providing us clues for exploring the molecular mechanism underlying changes under extreme hypoxia conditions. | Zhuoma Basang Shixuan Zhang La Yang Deji Quzong Yi Li Yanyun Ma Meng Hao WeiLin Pu Xiaoyu Liu Hongjun Xie Meng Liang Jiucun Wang Qiangba Danzeng | 2021 | Journal of Genetics and Genomics2021,48,10: | 2 |
| 12 | Development of a gaseous and solid-state hybrid system for stationary hydrogen energy storage显示文摘Hydrogen can serve as a carrier to store renewable energy in large scale.However,hydrogen storage still remains a challenge in the current stage.It is difficult to meet the technical requirements applying the conventional storage of compressed gaseous hydrogen in high-pressure tanks or the solid-state storage of hydrogen in suitable materials.In the present work,a gaseous and solid-state(G-S)hybrid hydrogen storage system with a low working pressure below 5 MPa for a 10 kW hydrogen energy storage experiment platform is developed and validated.A Ti-Mn type hydrogen storage alloy with an effective hydrogen capacity of 1.7 wt%was prepared for the G-S hybrid hydrogen storage system.The G-S hybrid hydrogen storage tank has a high volumetric hydrogen storage density of 40.07 kg H_(2)m^(-3) and stores hydrogen under pressure below5 MPa.It can readily release enough hydrogen at a temperature as low as-15C when the FC system is not fully activated and hot water is not available.The energy storage efficiency of this G-S hybrid hydrogen storage system is calculated to be 86.4%-95.9%when it is combined with an FC system.This work provides a method on how to design a G-S hydrogen storage system based on practical demands and demonstrates that the G-S hybrid hydrogen storage is a promising method for stationary hydrogen storage application. | Haizhen Liu Li Xu Yu Han Xin Chen Peng Sheng Shumao Wang Xiantun Huang Xinhua Wang Chenglin Lu Hui Luo Shixuan He Zhiqiang Lan Jin Guo | 2021 | Green Energy & Environment2021,6,4: | 2 |
| 13 | Two-dimensional vanadium carbide for simultaneously tailoring the hydrogen sorption thermodynamics and kinetics of magnesium hydride显示文摘Magnesium hydride(MgH_(2))is a potential material for solid-state hydrogen storage.However,the thermodynamic and kinetic properties are far from practical application in the current stage.In this work,two-dimensional vanadium carbide(V_(2)C)MXene with layer thickness of 50−100 nm was fist synthesized by selectively HF-etching the Al layers from V_(2)AlC MAX phase and then introduced into MgH_(2) to improve the hydrogen sorption performances of MgH_(2).The onset hydrogen desorption temperature of MgH_(2) with V_(2)C addition is significantly reduced from 318℃ for pure MgH_(2) to 190℃,with a 128℃ reduction of the onset temperature.The MgH_(2)+10 wt%V_(2)C composite can release 6.4 wt%of H_(2) within 10 min at 300℃ and does not loss any capacity for up to 10 cycles.The activation energy for the hydrogen desorption reaction of MgH_(2) with V_(2)C addition was calculated to be 112 kJ mol^(−1) H_(2) by Arrhenius’s equation and 87.6 kJ mol^(−1) H_(2) by Kissinger’s equation.The hydrogen desorption reaction enthalpy of MgH_(2)+10 wt%V_(2)C was estimated by van’t Hoff equation to be 73.6 kJ mol^(−1) H_(2),which is slightly lower than that of the pure MgH_(2)(77.9 kJ mol^(−1) H_(2)).Microstructure studies by XPS,TEM,and SEM showed that V_(2)C acts as an efficient catalyst for the hydrogen desorption reaction of MgH_(2).The first-principles density functional theory(DFT)calculations demonstrated that the bond length of Mg−H can be reduced from 1.71A for pure MgH_(2) to 2.14A for MgH_(2) with V_(2)C addition,which contributes to the destabilization of MgH_(2).This work provides a method to significantly and simultaneously tailor the hydrogen sorption thermodynamics and kinetics of MgH_(2) by two-dimensional MXene materials. | Chenglin Lu Haizhen Liu Li Xu Hui Luo Shixuan He Xingqing Duan Xiantun Huang Xinhua Wang Zhiqiang Lan Jin Guo | 2022 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2022,10,4: | 2 |
