4Topology-Based Recommendation of Users in Micro-Blogging Communities显示文摘Nowadays,more and more users share real-time news and information in micro-blogging communities such as Twitter,Tumblr or Plurk.In these sites,information is shared via a followers/followees social network structure in which a follower will receive all the micro-blogs from the users he/she follows,named followees.With the increasing number of registered users in this kind of sites,finding relevant and reliable sources of information becomes essential.The reduced number of characters present in micro-posts along with the informal language commonly used in these sites make it difficult to apply standard content-based approaches to the problem of user recommendation.To address this problem,we propose an algorithm for recommending relevant users that explores the topology of the network considering different factors that allow us to identify users that can be considered good information sources.Experimental evaluation conducted with a group of users is reported,demonstrating the potential of the approach.Marcelo G.Armentano Daniela Godoy Analía Amandi 2012Journal of Computer Science & Technology2012,27,3:8

8Flexible foraging decisions made by workers of the social wasp Vespula germanica (Hymenoptera: Vespidae) in response to different resources: influence of ontogenetic shifts and colony feedback显示文摘Decisions made by foraging animals conform a complex process based on the integration of information from multiple external environmental stimuli and internal physiological signals,which in turn are modulated by individual experience and a detection threshold of each individual.For social insects in which foraging is limited to given age subcastes,individual foraging decisions may also be affected by ontogenetic shifts and colony requirements.We studied the short-term changes in foraging preferences of the generalist wasp Vespula germanica,focusing on whether the individual response to different resources could be influenced by the ontogenetic shifts and/or by social interaction with nestmates.We carried both laboratory and field experiments to confront worker wasps to a short-term resource switch between either protein or carbohydrate-based foods.We tested the response of(1)Preforager workers(no foraging experience nor interaction with other wasps),(2)Forager workers(experience in foraging and no colony feedback),and(3)Wild forager workers(foraging naturally and exposed to free interactions with nestmates).We evaluated the maxilla-labium extension response(MaLER)for laboratory assays or the landing response for field assays.We observed that for wasps deprived of colony feedback(either preforagers or foragers),the protein-rich foods acceptance threshold increased(and thus a lower level of foraging on that item was observed)if they had foraged on carbohydrates previously,whereas carbohydrates were accepted in all assays.However,wasps immersed in a natural foraging context did accept protein foods regardless of their first foraging experience and reduced the carbohydrates collected when trained on protein foods.We provide evidence that short-term changes in foraging preferences depend on the type of resource foraged and on the social interactions,but not on ontogenetic shifts.Analía Mattiacci MaitéMasciocchi Juan C.Corley 2022Insect Science2022,29,2:0
9Limitation and challenges in using pancreatic cancer-derived organoids as a preclinical tool显示文摘Dear Editor,Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC)is a dismal disease with a fast evolution and unpredictable treatment response.Nowadays,FOLFIRINOX[1]and gemcitabine[2]are the preferred treatments with a response rate of 33%and 11%,respectively.This poor patient response has been associated with an inefficient/non-personalized treatment allocation.Consequently,developing a rapid and efficient preclinical tool to test tumor drug sensitivity for each patient is hugely needed.Biopsy patient-derived organoid(PDO)appears to be a promising tool for developing individualized treatments for patients with PDAC.Several PDO-based platforms are in development worldwide as a guide to optimize therapy by directing tailored treatments.A critical point to consider PDO as promising is that it must represent the great clinical heterogeneity of PDAC as much as possible.Moreover,PDO has displayed histological features that mimic the PDAC phenotype.These characteristics make PDO an interesting option to obtaining reliable chemo-response profiles at a reasonable timeframe for most PDAC patients.Nicolas A.Fraunhoffer Analía Meilerman Abuelafia Nelson Dusetti Juan Iovanna 2022Cancer Communications2022,42,10:0
10Plant traits related to leaf decomposition processes in arid ecosystems of northern Patagonia显示文摘Aims Plants play an important role in ecosystem processes.Functional meaning of trait variation in wide environmental gradients is well known but is scarcely known across narrow gradients.We analyze the variation of morphological,physical and chemical traits of dom-inant plant species and the potential rates of dry mass loss and N release/immobilization during senesced leaf decomposition of these species across a narrow aridity gradient,and to identify indicative traits useful to set species functional groups sharing decomposition patterns.Methods We analyzed the variation of morphological,physical and chemical traits(specific leaf area,seed mass,N and soluble phenols in green and senesced leaves,plant height)in dominant plant species at 12 sites across an aridity gradient in northern Patagonia,Argentina.We collected senesced leaves of each plant species at each site and used them to estimate the poten-tial rates of dry mass loss and N release/immobilization from decomposing senesced leaves in a microcosm experiment.We analyzed the variation of plant traits and decomposition rates across the aridity gradient.We grouped plants species accord-ing to growth forms(perennial grasses,deciduous shrubs,ever-green shrubs)and different combinations of morpho-physical and chemical traits of green and senesced leaves and compared the potential rates of dry mass loss and N release/immobiliza-tion during leaf decomposition among these groups delimited by each grouping criteria.Important Findings Plant traits did not vary across the aridity gradient.The potential rate of dry mass loss was positively related to aridity,while the potential rate of N release/immobilization did not vary across the gradient.Grouping species by separately morpho-physical and chemical traits resulted in a large overlapping in mean values of decomposition rates among groups.In contrast,plant groupings based on growth forms and those including all morpho-physical and chemical traits of green or senesced leaves yielded groups with differentiated rates of decomposition processes.The two latter groupings clustered spe-cies from more than one growth form indicating some overlapping in the rates of decomposition processes among species of different growth forms.Among traits,N concentration in senesced leaves and plant height explained the highest variation in decomposition rates being positively related to potential rates of dry mass loss and N release/immobilization.We concluded that plant groupings based on morpho-physical and chemical traits of either green or senesced leaves may be more powerful to differentiate functional species groups sharing decomposition patterns than the growth form group-ing.Moreover,plant height and N concentration in senesced leaves may be considered relevant synthetic functional traits in relation to decomposition processes in narrow aridity gradients.Marlene I.Bär Lamas Analía L.Carrera Mónica B.Bertiller 2019Journal of Plant Ecology2019,12,2:0

16Analysis of Line-Edge Roughness Using EUV Scatterometry显示文摘Smaller and more complex three-dimensional periodic nanostructures are part of the next generation of integrated electronic circuits.Additionally,decreasing the dimensions of nanostructures increases the effect of line-edge roughness on the performance of the nanostructures.Efficient methods for characterizing three-dimensional nanostructures are required for process control.Here,extreme-ultraviolet(EUV)scatterometry is exploited for the analysis of line-edge roughness from periodic nanostructures.In line with previous observations,differences are observed between line edge and line width roughness.The angular distribution of the diffuse scattering is an interplay of the line shape,the height of the structure,the roughness along the line,and the correlation between the lines.Unfortunately,existing theoretical methods for characterizing nanostructures using scatterometry do not cover all these aspects.Examples are shown here and the demands for future development of theoretical approaches for computing the angular distribution of the scattered X-rays are discussed.Analía Fernández Herrero Frank Scholze Gaoliang Dai Victor Soltwisch 2022Nanomanufacturing and Metrology2022,5,2:0
