| 1 | High-frequency ultrasound features of basal cell carcinoma and its association with histological recurrence risk显示文摘Background: Due to advances in high-frequency ultrasound technology, it is easier to detect fine structures of skin lesions. The aim of this study was to examine the ultrasonographic features and use recurrence risk stratification to assess the diagnostic performance of pre-operative ultrasound examination of basal cell carcinoma (BCC). Methods: This was a retrospective study. Forty-six BCC lesions underwent pre-operative ultrasound examination using 50- and 20- MHz probes. Ultrasonographic shape, margin, internal echoes, hyper-echoic spots, posterior echoes, and depth of the lesion were evaluated and correlated with the risk of recurrence based on histological features. Results: Forty-two patients had 46 skin lesions in total. The high-risk (n = 6) and low-risk (n = 40) groups exhibited considerable overlap in the ultrasonographic manifestations and no significant difference in margin (χ^2 = 3.231, P = 0.072), internal echo (χ^2 = 1.592, P = 0.207), or posterior echo (P = 0.169). However, high-risk BCCs tended to be irregular in shape than low-risk lesions (χ^2 = 4.313, P = 0.038). Both types presented hyper-echoic spots (χ^2 = 1.850, P = 0.174). Additionally, 78% of low-risk lesions were confined to the dermis (31/40), and 100% of high-risk lesions infiltrated into the sub-cutaneous tissue, resulting in a significant difference between the two groups (χ^2 = 10.951, P = 0.001). Ultrasound detected sub-clinical lesions in five patients. Conclusions: High-frequency ultrasound can provide important information for pre-operative evaluation of risk in BCC foci and reveal hidden lesions. | 2 | Expression of HER2 and bradykinin B_1 receptors in precursor lesions of gallbladder carcinoma显示文摘AIM:To determine the expression of HER2 and bradykinin B 1 receptors(B 1 R) in the two pathogenic models of gallbladder cancer:the metaplasia-dysplasia-carcinoma and the adenoma-carcinoma pathways.METHODS:Receptor proteins were visualized by immunohistochemistry on 5-μm sections of paraffin-embedded tissue.Expression of both receptors was studied in biopsy samples from 92 patients(6 males and 86 females;age ranging from 28 to 86 years,mean 56 years).High HER2 expression in specimens was additionally investigated by fluorescence in situ hybridiza-tion.Cell proliferation in each sample was assessed by using the Ki-67 proliferation marker.RESULTS:HER2 receptor protein was absent in adenomas and in normal gallbladder epithelium.On the contrary,there was intense staining for HER2 on the basolateral membrane of epithelial cells of intestinal metaplasia(22/24;91.7%) and carcinoma in situ(9/10;90%),the lesions that displayed a significantly high proliferation index.Protein up-regulation of HER2 in the epithelium with metaplasia or carcinoma in situ was not accompanied by HER2 gene amplification.A similar result was observed in invasive carcinomas(0/12).The B 1 R distribution pattern mirrored that of HER2 except that B 1 R was additionally observed in the adenomas.The B 1 R appeared either as cytoplasmic dots or labeling on the apical cell membrane of the cells composing the epithelia with intestinal metaplasia(24/24;100%) and carcinoma in situ(10/10;100%) and in the epithelial cells of adenomas.In contrast,both HER2(4/12;33%) and B 1 R(1/12;8.3%) showed a low expression in invasive gallbladder carcinomas.CONCLUSION:The up-regulation of HER2 and B1R in precursor lesions of gallbladder carcinoma suggests cross-talk between these two receptors that may be of importance in the modulation of cell proliferation in gallbladder carcinogenesis. | Cesar Toledo Carola E Matus Ximena Barraza Pamela Arroyo Pamela Ehrenfeld Carlos D Figueroa Kanti D Bhoola Maeva del Pozo Maria T Poblete | 2012 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2012，18，11： | 6 |

| 6 | Comparison of lipid extraction methods for the microalgae Acutodesmus obliquus显示文摘Microalgae are widely used in the pharmaceutical and energy industries,therefore the conditions for their cultivation and extraction methods play an important role in the profiling and acquisition of lipids.The efficiency of lipid extraction from microalgae has attracted great interest from industry because of the wide variety of lipids and amounts that can be obtained.Acutodesmus obliquus(Scenedesmus obliquus UTEX 393)was used in this study.It was cultivated in Bold 3N medium modified with 75%nitrogen at 25℃,pH 6.8,125 r/min and a photoperiod of 18/6 h and illuminated with white light provided by a Light-Emitting Diode Surface Mount Device extensions(LED SMD)with an intensity of 1200μE/(m^(2)·s).The cells were stained with the Red Nile(RN)technique to indicate lipid production.Four extraction methods were compared,classical,microwave(MW),Soxhlet,and ultrasound(US),using the same solvent proportions(hexane:chloroform:methanol=1:2:3).All samples were analyzed with Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy(FTIR)and Gas Chromatography coupled to Mass Spectrometry(GC-MS).The results showed:1)lipid production detected by RN was consistent with microalgal growth;2)the MW technique was the best extraction method,according to the statistical analysis through Randomized Complete Block(RCB)design and performance of 4.6%;and 3)the presence of saturated and unsaturated acids was indicated by FTIR spectra.GC-MS was able to identify palmitic and linoleic acids as the likely major constituents of the sample. | Diana Ximena Hurtado Claudia Lorena Garzón-Castro Jhon Cortés-Romero Edisson Tello Camacho | 2018 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2018，11，5： | 2 |
