| 1 | Anti-tumor activity of wogonin, an extract from Scutellaria baicalensis, through regulating different signaling pathways显示文摘Wogonin is a plant flavonoid compound extracted from Scutellaria baicalensis(Huang-Qin or Chinese skullcap) and has been studied thoroughly by many researchers till date for its anti-viral, anti-oxidant, anti-cancerous and neuro-protective properties. Numerous experiments conducted in vitro and in vivo have demonstrated wogonin's excellent tumor inhibitory properties. The anticancer mechanism of wogonin has been ascribed to modulation of various cell signaling pathways, including serine-threonine kinase Akt(also known as protein kinase B) and AMP-activated protein kinase(AMPK) pathways, p53-dependent/independent apoptosis, and inhibition of telomerase activity. Furthermore, wogonin also decreases DNA adduct formation with a carcinogenic compound 2-Aminofluorene and inhibits growth of drug resistant malignant cells and their migration and metastasis, without any side effects. Recently, newly synthesized wogonin derivatives have been developed with impressive anti-tumor activity. This review is the succinct appraisal of the pertinent articles on the mechanisms of anti-tumor properties of wogonin. We also summarize the potential of wogonin and its derivatives used alone or as an adjunct therapy for cancer treatment. | 2 | Recent advances in chronic granulomatous disease显示文摘Chronic granulomatous disease(CGD)is an inherited defect of phagocyte function due to defective NADPH oxidase.Patients with CGD are not able to effectively clear the infections because of the defect in the phagocyte production of oxygen free radicals and are prone to recurrent bacterial and fungal infections.Inflammatory complications are also noted in CGD such as colitis,non-infective granulomas causing gastrointestinal or urinary tract obstruction,hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis,and arthritis.Studies on toll-like receptor pathways and neutrophil extracellular traps in CGD have shed light on the role of NADPH oxidase in the innate immunity and pathogenesis of infections in CGD.Some reports also indicate a reduction of memory B cells and defective production of functional antibodies in CGD.Though the exact mechanisms for non-infective inflammatory complications in CGD are not yet clear,studies on efferocytosis and defective autophagy with inflammasome activation have made a substantial contribution to our understanding of the pathogenesis of inflammation in CGD.We also discuss the clinical and molecular features of p40phox defects and a newer genetic defect,EROS.Clinical phenotypes of X-linked carriers of CYBB are also discussed. | Gummadi Anjani Pandiarajan Vignesh Vibhu Joshi Jitendra Kumar Shandilya Dharmagat Bhattarai Jyoti Sharma Amit Rawat | 2020 | Genes & Diseases2020,7,1: | 6 |
| 3 | All ileo-cecal ulcers are not Crohn's:Changing perspectives of symptomatic ileocecal ulcers显示文摘AIM To investigated clinical,endoscopic and histopathological parameters of the patients presenting with ileocecal ulcers on colonoscopy.METHODS Consecutive symptomatic patients undergoing colonoscopy,and diagnosed to have ulcerations in the ileocecal(I/C) region,were enrolled.Biopsy was obtained and theirclinical presentation and outcome were recorded.RESULTS Out of 1632 colonoscopies,104 patients had ulcerations in the I/C region and were included in the study.Their median age was 44.5 years and 59% were males.The predominant presentation was lower GI bleed(55,53%),pain abdomen ± diarrhea(36,35%),fever(32,31%),and diarrhea alone(9,9%).On colonoscopy,terminal ileum was entered in 96(92%) cases.The distribution of ulcers was as follows:Ileum alone 40%(38/96),cecum alone 33%(32/96),and both ileum plus cecum 27%(26/96).The ulcers were multiple in 98% and in 34% there were additional ulcers elsewhere in colon.Based on clinical presentation and investigations,the etiology of ulcers was classified into infective causes(43%) and noninfective causes(57%).Fourteen patients(13%) were diagnosed to have Crohn's disease(CD).CONCLUSION Non-specific ileocecal ulcers are most common ulcers seen in ileo-cecal region.And if all infections are clubbed together then infection is the most common(> 40%) cause of ulcerations of the I/C region.Cecal involvement and fever are important clues to infective cause.On the contrary CD account for only 13% cases as a cause of ileo-cecalulcers.So all symptomatic patients with I/C ulcers on colonoscopy are not Crohn's. | Jay Toshniwal Romesh Chawlani Amit Thawrani Rajesh Sharma Anil Arora Hardik L Kotecha Mohan Goyal Vijendra Kirnake Pankaj Jain Pankaj Tyagi Naresh Bansal Munish Sachdeva Piyush Ranjan Mandhir Kumar Praveen Sharma Vikas Singla Rinkesh Bansal Vineet Shah Sunita Bhalla Ashish Kumar | 2017 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy2017,9,7: | 5 |
| 4 | A comparative study of variable angle volar plate and bridging external fixator with K-wire augmentation in comminuted distal radius fractures显示文摘Purpose:Comminuted intraarticular distal radial fractures are difficult to treat conservatively and require operative treatment.This study compared the functional outcomes between variable angle volar plating and external fixator with K-wire augmentation in open reduction and internal fixation.Methods:A total of 62 adult patients with comminuted intraarticular distal radius fracture were randomized into 2 groups:volar plate group and external fixator group.These patients aged between 18 and 60 years had unilateral fractures,and agreed to be included in the study.Patients with a history of fracture,bilateral fracture,associated other injuries,delayed injury for more than 2 weeks,open fracture,pre-existing arthrosis or disability,psychiatric illness and pathological fracture were excluded.Patients were followed up at 6 weeks,3 months,6 months and 1 year.The assessment of pain,functional activity,range of motion and grip strength was done at each stage of follow-up.The pain and functional activities were assessed by patient rated wrist evaluation(PRWE)score and disabilities of the arm,shoulder and hand(DASH)score.Results:Patients in volar plate group had superior PRWE score and DASH score at each stage of followup.At 1 year follow-up,the mean PRWE score were 7.48 for volar plate group and 7.35 for external fixator group;while the mean DASH score was 4.65 for volar plate group and 5.61 for external fixator group.They had better flexion and extension range of movement.They also had better pronation and supination range of motion at initial follow-up,however the difference get attenuated by 1 year.Volar plate group had significantly better grip strength than external fixator group.Complication rates were higher in external fixation group.Conclusion:Fixation with variable angle volar plate results in early wrist mobilization,better range of movement,less pain and disability and early return of function. | Ratish Kumar Mishra Bhagwati Prasad Sharma Amit Kumar Rohit Sherawat | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Traumatology2021,24,5: | 3 |
| 5 | Computational interaction analysis of organophosphorus pesticides with different metabolic proteins in humans显示文摘Pesticides have the potential to leave harmful effects on humans,animals,other living organisms,and the environment.Several human metabolic proteins inhibited after exposure to organophosphorus pesticides absorbed through the skin,inhalation,eyes and oral mucosa,are most important targets for this interaction study.The crystal structure of five different proteins,PDBIDs:3LII,3NXU,4GTU,2XJ1 and 1YXA in Homo sapiens (H.sapiens),interact with organophosphorus pesticides at the molecular level.The 3-D structures were found to be of good quality and validated through PROCHECK,ERRAT and ProSA servers.The results show that the binding energy is maximum-45.21 relative units of cytochrome P450 protein with phosmet pesticide.In terms of H-bonding,methyl parathion and parathion with acetylcholinesterase protein,parathion,methylparathion and phosmet with protein kinase C show the highest interaction.We conclude that these organophosphorus pesticides are more toxic and inhibit enzymatic activity by interrupting the metabolic pathways in H.sapiens. | Amit Kumar Sharma Karuna Gaur Rajeev Kumar Tiwari Mulayam Singh Gaur | 2011 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2011,25,5: | 3 |

| 10 | Impact of vericiguat on heart failure with reduced ejection fraction:a review显示文摘Introduction:Heart failure is a major public health issue with a prevalence of about 26 million people worldwide.Reduced nitric oxide availability,lower soluble guanylate cyclase(sGC)activity,and decreased cyclic guanosine monophosphate(cGMP)production are the causes of HF's development.Vericiguat prescribed under the brand name Verquvo was approved by U.S.Food and Drug Administration(FDA)in January 2021.It is a novel agent and the first sGC stimulator which helps to treat patients suffering from heart failure with reduced ejection fraction(HFrEF).Objective:The mechanism of action(cGMP pathway)of vericiguat,its clinical trials,its use in the treatment of heart failure,and its possible future aspects in therapeutic recommendations are all covered in this review.It will also raise awareness amongst healthcare professionals about the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic parameters,dosing,administration,and drug-related problems of this new drug.Methods:Various databases for drug review were used in this review like PubMed,Medline,Google scholar,Drug bank,U.s.FDA,Medscape,and European society of cardiology guidelines.A total of 58 articles were screened out of which 39 articles were included in this review.Results:This review discusses vericiguat's mechanism of action(cGMP pathway),clinical studies,application in the treatment of heart failure,and potential future considerations in therapeutic recommendations.It will also educate healthcare professionals about the new drug's pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics,dose,administration,and drug-related problems.Conclusion:After hospitalization for HFrEF,the 5-year survival rate is just 25%,and disease morbidity and death are stil significant.As adjunctive therapy for individuals with heart failure and a low ejection fraction,vericiguat has a moderate level of effectiveness.Vericiguat's efficacy as an adjunct therapy to different drugs used to cure HF has to be further investigated.Vericiguat's safety and dosage in patients who have severe renal or hepatic illness need to be studied further. | Manisha Vohra Mohammad Amir Ian Osoro Amit Sharma Ranjeet Kumar | 2023 | Global Health Journal2023,7,3: | 1 |

| 18 | Three dimensional structure prediction and proton nuclear magnetic resonance analysis of toxic pesticides in human blood plasma显示文摘The purpose of this study was to investigate the nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) assignments of hydrolyzed products extracted from human blood plasma.The correlations between chemical,functional and structural properties of highly toxic pesticides were investigated using the PreADME analysis.We observed that toxic pesticides possessed higher molecular weight and,more hydrogen bond donors and acceptors when compared with less toxic pesticides.The occurrence of functional groups and structural properties was analyzed using 1H-NMR.The 1HNMR spectra of the phosphomethoxy class of pesticides were characterized by methyl resonances at 3.7-3.9 ppm(δ) with the coupling constants of 11-16 Hz(JP-CH3).In phosphoethoxy pesticides,the methyl resonance was about 1.4 ppm(δ) with the coupling constant of 10 Hz(JP-CH2) and the methylene resonances was 4.2-4.4 ppm(δ) with the coupling constant of 0.8 Hz(JP-CH3),respectively.Our study shows that the values of four parameters such as chemical shift,coupling constant,integration and relaxation time correlated with the concentration of toxic pesticides,and can be used to characterise the proton groups in the molecular structures of toxic pesticides. | Amit Kumar Sharma Rajeev Kumar Tiwari Mulayam Singh Gaur | 2012 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2012,26,3: | 1 |
| 19 | Spectroscopic Analysis of Organophosphorus Pesticides Using Colorimetric Reactions显示文摘The UV-Vis and infrared(IR)absorption spectra of organophosphorus(OP)pesticides have been studied.A correlation in spectra was developed to optimize the OP pesticides in the environments.The spectroscopic(UV-Vis and IR)spectrum of OP pesticides like methyl parathion,malathion and parathion has been interpreted in detail.A complete calculation of the normal frequencies and absolute intensities of UV-Vis and IR absorption bands are interpreted with the help of corresponding experimental data.In the colorimetric reactions,the bands appear at 2 077,1 637,1 455,1 015,655cm^(-1) for malathion;2 081,1 639,1 316,1 015,794,683cm^(-1) for parathion;2 078,1 632,1 032,794cm^(-1) for methyl parathion were used for quantitative or qualitative analysis.All these IR spectra were acquired by averaging 100 scans at a resolution of 4cm^(-1).It is determined experimentally in the region 200~450nm for UV-Vis absorption bands and in the region 400~4 000cm^(-1) for IR absorption bands.It is concluded that the mainly optically active groups(P—OH, C=O,P=O, C—O—C,P—O—C, P=S, —OH)present in pesticides which are responsible in change in significant data for quantitative and qualitative analysis.The various optical properties like wavelength,band energy,wave number,and frequency,also are calculated. | Amit Kumar Sharma | 2016 | 光谱学与光谱分析2016,36,9: | 1 |
