| 1 | Celulose Paper-based Strapping Products for Green/Sustainable Packaging Needs显示文摘Paper products such as corrugated paperboards are the most common green packaging materials, which are renewable, sustainable, recyclable and biodegradable. However, the plastic or metal straps used to secure the carton boxes are not so green. At the end of packaging, the carton boxes can be recycled, but the plastic/metal straps have to be sorted out for disposal separately. This review focuses on: 1) the global trend of green packaging;2) conventional plastic/metal strapping materials for carton boxes;3) conventional market pulp baling with steel wire as the tying materials;4) cellulose fiber-based materials for strapping market pulp bales and carton boxes. New generation of cellulose paper straps are being developed for more challenging applications with superior strength properties and repulpability. | Zhibin He Amit Chowdhury Li Tong Mike Reynolds Yonghao Ni | 2019 | Paper And Biomaterials2019,4,3: | 11 |
| 2 | Anisotropy Properties of Tissues: A Basis for Fabrication of Biomimetic Anisotropic Scaffolds for Tissue Engineering显示文摘Tissue engineering has been a subject of extensive scientific exploration in the last two decades making gradual inroads into clinical studies as well.Along with regenerative cells and growth factors, biomaterial scaffolds are integral to the development of a tissue engi neered construct. It is now appreciated that scaffolds should mimic the target tissue properties intimately in order to provide a micro-environment milieu that allows the seeded cells to differentiate into the desired tissue.Even from a structural viewpoint, mismatch between scaffold and native matrix properties can cause cell necrosis through mechanisms such as stress shielding. One of the key prop erties of most body tissues is that they exhib社anisotropy. However, most fabrication methods generate isotropic scaffolds and require specific modifications to produce anisotropic scaffolds. In the last decade, the advent of additive manufacturing and bioprinting has provided facile tools to fabricate scaffolds with desired anisotropy. On the other hand,a biomimetic scaffold can be designed only when target tissue anisotropy is well known to the tissue engineer. This review presents an overview of the anisotropic properties of different tissues, which will be critical for developing biomimetic engineered constructs. The traditional anatomical records do not adequately present these properties from the perspective of designing tissue engineering scaffolds.Subsequently, present state-of-the art in devel opment of anisotropic scaffolds as well as tissue constructs using different conventional and emerging fabrication techniques is discussed. It is expected that the readers will obtain a comprehensive reference on the research area by examining these two aspects juxtaposed to each other and gain key trends for fabrication of anisotropic scaffolds, plausibly with improved regenerative outcomes. | Pallab Datta Veena Vyas Santanu Dhara Amit Roy Chowdhury Ananya Barui | 2019 | Journal of Bionic Engineering2019,16,5: | 4 |
| 3 | Bioprinting of radiopaque constructs for tissue engineering and understanding degradation behavior by use of Micro-CT显示文摘Bioprinting has emerged as a potential technique to fabricate tissue engineering constructs and in vitro models directly using living cells as a raw material for fabrication, conforming to the heterogeneity and architectural complexity of the tissues. In several of tissue engineering and in vitro disease modelling or surgical planning applications,it is desirable to have radiopaque constructs for monitoring and evaluation. In the present work, enhanced radiopaque constructs are generated by substituting Calcium ions with Barium ions for crosslinking of alginate hydrogels. The constructs are characterized for their structural integrity and followed by cell culture studies to evaluate their biocompatibility. This was followed by the radiopacity evaluation. The radiological images obtained by micro-CT technique was further applied to investigate the degradation behavior of the scaffolds. In conclusion,it is observed that barium crosslinking can provide a convenient means to obtain radiopaque constructs with potential for multi-faceted applications. | Sudipto Datta Shuvodeep Jana Ankita Das Arindam Chakraborty Amit Roy Chowdhury Pallab Datta | 2020 | Bioactive Materials2020,5,3: | 1 |
| 4 | Common polymorphisms of protein tyrosine phosphate non-receptor type 2 gene are not associated with risk of Crohn’s disease in Indian显示文摘BACKGROUND Multiple genetic risk factors for Crohn’s disease(CD)have been identified. However, these observations are not consistent across different populations. The protein tyrosine phosphate non-receptor type 2(PTPN2)gene plays a role in various aspects of host defense including epithelial barrier function, autophagy, and innate and adaptive immune response. Two common polymorphisms in the PTPN2 gene(rs2542151 and rs7234029)have been associated with risk of CD in Western countries.AIM To evaluate the association of PTPN2 gene polymorphisms with risk of CD in Indian population.METHODS We conducted a prospective case-control study.Patients with CD were recruited, and their clinical and investigation details were noted.Controls were patients without organic gastrointestinal disease or other comorbid illnesses. Two common polymorphisms in the PTPN2 gene(rs2542151 and rs7234029)were assessed.DNA was extracted from peripheral blood samples of cases and controls and target DNA was amplified using specific sets of primers. The amplified fragments were digested with restriction enzymes and the presence of polymorphism was detected by restriction fragment length polymorphism. The frequency of alleles was determined. The frequencies of genotypes and alleles were compared between cases and controls to look for significant differences.RESULTS A total of 108 patients with CD(mean age 37.5±12.7 years, females 42.6%)and 100 controls(mean age 39.9±13.5 years, females 37%)were recruited. For the single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)rs7234029,the overall frequency of G variant genotype(AG or GG)was noted to be significantly lower in the cases compared to controls(35.2%vs 50%,P=0.05).For the SNP rs2542151,the overall frequency of G variant genotype(GT or GG)was noted to be similar in cases compared to controls(43.6%vs 47%,P=0.73).There were no significant differences in minor allele(G)frequency for both polymorphisms between the cases and controls. Both the SNPs had no significant association with age of onset of illness, gender, disease location, disease behaviour, perianal disease,or extraintestinal manifestations of CD.CONCLUSION Unlike observation form the West, polymorphisms in the PTPN2 gene(rs7234029 and rs2542151)are not associated with an increased risk of developing CD in Indian patients. | Kaushik Chatterjee Amit Kumar Dutta Ashish Goel Rekha Aaron Vijayalekshmi Balakrishnan Ajith Thomas Anoop John Rajeeb Jaleel Deepu David Reuben Thomas Kurien SD Chowdhury Ebby George Simon AJ Joseph Prasanna Premkumar Anna B Pulimood | 2022 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Pathophysiology2022,13,4: | 0 |
