| 1 | High-Q microresonators on 4H-silicon-carbide-on-insulator platform for nonlinear photonics显示文摘The realization of high-quality(Q)resonators regardless of the underpinning material platforms has been a ceaseless pursuit,because the high-Q resonators provide an extreme environment for confining light to enable observations of many nonlinear optical phenomenon with high efficiencies.Here,photonic microresonators with a mean Q factor of 6.75×10^(6)were demonstrated on a 4H-silicon-carbide-on-insulator(4H-SiCOI)platform,as determined by a statistical analysis of tens of resonances.Using these devices,broadband frequency conversions,including second-,third-,and fourth-harmonic generations have been observed.Cascaded Raman lasing has also been demonstrated in our SiC microresonator for the first time,to the best of our knowledge.Meanwhile,by engineering the dispersion properties of the SiC microresonator,we have achieved broadband Kerr frequency combs covering from 1300 to 1700nm.Our demonstration represents a significant milestone in the development of SiC photonic integrated devices. | Chengli Wang Zhiwei Fang Ailun Yi Bingcheng Yang Zhe Wang Liping Zhou Chen Shen Yifan Zhu Yuan Zhou Rui Bao Zhongxu Li Yang Chen Kai Huang Jiaxiang Zhang Ya Cheng Xin Ou | 2021 | Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,8: | 4 |
| 2 | Applications of Acrylate-based Polymer and Silicone Resin on LPFG-based Devices显示文摘Both acrylate based polymer and silicone resin are proposed as recoating materials surrounding LPFGs for purposes of different applications. For the LPFG recoated with a thin layer of acrylate based polymer, the range of wavelength shift as much as 60nm is expected when temperature changes from 0~100℃. As for that with surrounding material of silicone resin, the temperature stability is greatly improved depicted as the maximum wavelength shift of about 0.6nm with the same temperature variation. The former is potentially a broadband tunable band rejection filter or temperature sensor with enhanced sensitivity. | 4 | Second harmonic generation in a hollow-core fiber filled with GaSe nanosheets显示文摘Frequency conversions using various all-fiber nonlinear devices can benefit many applications,including communications,sensing,microscope,and imaging.In this study,we report in-fiber second harmonic generation(SHG)in an optical hollow-core fiber(HCF)that can be used for frequency conversion.The HCF filled with a dispersion of gallium selenide(GaSe)nanosheets in the ultraviolet-cured optical adhesive supports a well-propagating mode in the fiber core,which enables effective light interaction with dispersed GaSe nanosheets and a strong SHG process.Based on theoretical analysis,the optimal HCF length for maximizing SHG is approximately 0.41 mm.The broadband SHG of the GaSe-filled HCF device is demonstrated by tuning the pump wavelength from 1460 to 1600 nm.Moreover,a time-varied SHG in the device is revealed due to additional second-order susceptibility induced by the polarization of silica.The proposed device with a compact and robust structure has the potential to be connected to existing all-fiber telecom and sensing systems for numerous nonlinear engineering applications. | Zhen HAO Yuxin MA Biqiang JIANG Yueguo HOU Ailun LI Ruixuan YI Xuetao GAN Jianlin ZHAO | 2022 | Science China(Information Sciences)2022,65,6: | 2 |

| 9 | Disrupted tenogenesis in masseter as a potential cause of micrognathia显示文摘Micrognathia is a severe craniofacial deformity affecting appearance and survival. Previous studies revealed that multiple factors involved in the osteogenesis of mandibular bone have contributed to micrognathia, but concerned little on factors other than osteogenesis. In the current study, we found that ectopic activation of Fgf8 by Osr2-cre in the presumptive mesenchyme for masseter tendon in mice led to micrognathia, masseter regression, and the disrupted patterning and differentiation of masseter tendon. Since Myf5-cre;Rosa26R-Fgf8 mice exhibited the normal masseter and mandibular bone, the possibility that the micrognathia and masseter regression resulted directly from the over-expressed Fgf8 was excluded. Further investigation disclosed that a series of chondrogenic markers were ectopically activated in the developing Osr2-cre;Rosa26R-Fgf8 masseter tendon, while the mechanical sensing in the masseter and mandibular bone was obviously reduced. Thus, it suggested that the micrognathia in Osr2-cre;Rosa26R-Fgf8 mice resulted secondarily from the reduced mechanical force transmitted to mandibular bone. Consistently,when tenogenic or myogenic components were deleted from the developing mandibles, both the micrognathia and masseter degeneration took place with the decreased mechanical sensing in mandibular bone, which verified that the loss of mechanical force transmitted by masseter tendon could result in micrognathia. Furthermore, it appeared that the micrognathia resulting from the disrupted tenogenesis was attributed to the impaired osteogenic specification, instead of the differentiation in the periosteal progenitors. | 10 | Soliton formation and spectral translation into visible on CMOS-compatible 4H-silicon-carbide-oninsulator platform显示文摘Recent advancements in integrated soliton microcombs open the route to a wide range of chip-based communication,sensing,and metrology applications.The technology translation from laboratory demonstrations to real-world applications requires the fabrication process of photonics chips to be fully CMOS-compatible,such that the manufacturing can take advantage of the ongoing evolution of semiconductor technology at reduced cost and with high volume.Silicon nitride has become the leading CMOS platform for integrated soliton devices,however,it is an insulator and lacks intrinsic second-order nonlinearity for electro-optic modulation.Other materials have emerged such as AlN,LiNbO_(3),AlGaAs and GaP that exhibit simultaneous second-and third-order nonlinearities.Here,we show that silicon carbide(SiC)--already commercially deployed in nearly ubiquitous electrical power devices such as RF electronics,MOSFET,and MEMS due to its wide bandgap properties,excellent mechanical properties,piezoelectricity and chemical inertia--is a new competitive CMOS-compatible platform for nonlinear photonics.High-quality-factor microresonators(Q=4×10^(6))are fabricated on 4H-SiC-on-insulator thin films,where a single soliton microcomb is generated.In addition,we observe wide spectral translation of chaotic microcombs from near-infrared to visible due to the second-order nonlinearity of SiC.Our work highlights the prospects of SiC for future low-loss integrated nonlinear and quantum photonics that could harness electro-opto-mechanical interactions on a monolithic platform. | Chengli Wang Jin Li Ailun Yi Zhiwei Fang Liping Zhou Zhe Wang Rui Niu Yang Chen Jiaxiang Zhang Ya Cheng Junqiu Liu Chun-Hua Dong Xin Ou | 2022 | Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,12: | 1 |
