1Effect of Plant Density on Wild Oat Competition with Competitive and Non-Competitive Wheat Cultivars显示文摘Wild oat (Avena ludoviciana) is one of the worst weeds in wheat fields. The effect of wheat density on wild oat competition with more or less competitive wheat cultivars (Triticum aestivum) was investigated at the Experimental Farm of Plant Pests and Diseases Research Institute, Karaj, Iran. The experiment was established as a factorial combination of wheat varieties Roshan as non-competitive and Niknejad as competitive; three wheat densities (recommended density, recommended+25%, and recommended+50%, corresponding respectively with 300, 375, and 450 plants m-2 for Roshan and 400, 500, and 600 plants m-2 for Niknejad) and four wild oat densities (0, 25, 50, and 75 plants m-2) were selected for this experiment. Hyperbolic equations were used to describe relationship between yield and weed density. Increase in wheat density reduced wild oat biomass. Maximum wild oat biomass was achieved at the highest density of the wild oat together with the lowest wheat density. The results showed that higher densities of wheat are able to suppress wild oat dry matter production. Inter-specific competition in Niknejad was 1.7 times more than that in Roshan. Maximum yields of Niknejad and Roshan in the presence of wild oat were obtained at recommended density+25% and recommended density, respectively. Increase in wheat density leads to a decrease in wheat yield due to an increase in intra-specific competition. 2Tunneling in submicron CMOS single-photon avalanche diodes显示文摘Tunneling is studied in two main single-photon avalanche diode(SPAD) topologies,which are n-tub guard ring(NTGR) and p-tub guard ring(PTGR).Device simulation,I-V measurements,and dark count calculations and measurements demonstrate that tunneling is the main source of noise in NTGR,but it is less dominant in PTGR SPADs.All structures are characterized with respect to dark noise,photon detection probability,timing jitter,afterpulsing probability,and breakdown voltage.Noise performance is disturbed because of tunneling,whereas jitter performance is disturbed because of the short diffusion time of photo-generated minority carriers in NTGR SPADs.The maximum photon detection probability is enhanced because of an improvement in absorption thickness.Mohammad Azim Karami Armin Amiri-Sani Mohammad Hamzeh Ghormishi 2014Chinese Optics Letters2014,12,1:2

4The effect of time and type of stress moderators on yield and yield components of cotton on conventional and double‑cropping systems under saline conditions显示文摘Background:Today,stress moderators are employed to mitigate crop loss due to the adverse effects of environmental stress.The current research aimed to investigate the impacts of time and stress moderator types on agro-physiological responses of cotton on conventional and double-cropping systems during 2017 and 2018 under saline conditions.A split-plot factorial experiment was carried out in a randomized complete block design with three replications.Cultivation system[conventional(recommended planting date)and double-cropping systems(sowing after harvest of wheat)]were considered as the main plots,and stress moderator type at four levels[water control,2 mmol·L^(-1) Salicylic acid(SA),100 mmol·L^(-1) Glycine betaine(GB),and 100μmol·L^(-1) sodium nitroprusside(SNP)]and application time(flowering and flowering+bolling stages)were regarded as subplots.Results:Plant height,reproductive branch number,the number of bolls,10-boll weight,1000-seed weight,biological yield,seed cotton yield,lint yield,chlorophyll a,chlorophyll b,carotenoids,total chlorophyll,sodium,potassium,and proline content were less in double-cropping system comparing with conventional system.Spraying with the stress moderators alleviated soil salinity effects on yield,yield components,and biochemical traits of cotton.SNP spraying led to maximum plant height,branch number,the number of bolls per plant,10-boll weight and seed cotton yield.SA spraying yielded the highest 1000-seed weight,biological yield,lint percentage and lint yield.The highest chlorophyll a,chlorophyll b,carotenoids,and total chlorophyll content resulted from SNP spraying.Yield,yield components,and biochemical traits did not respond to the stress moderator types in double-cropping system.However,the highest chlorophyll a,carotenoids,proline content,the number of bolls per plant,and seed cotton yield resulted from SNP spraying in conventional system.No statistically significant differences were observed between spraying with SNP and SA in most studied traits.Conclusions:The results suggest that the optimum cotton planting time and SNP spraying could be recommended for producing the most suitable yield under saline conditions.Highlights:External application of stress modulators increases salinity stress tolerance.Spraying with sodium nitroprusside has more moderating effect.Agro-physiological response of cotton to moderators is stronger in early sowing.Maximum seed cotton yield was achieved at early sowing and spraying sodium nitroprusside.Delayed cultivation reduces cotton yield.BORZOUYI Zeinab ARMIN Mohammad MARVI Hamid 2021Journal of Cotton Research2021,4,4:1
5Effect of wood chip application on root growth of oak seedling and weed control in northern Iran显示文摘It was hypothesized that wood chips can serve as a mulch to improve the growth of young trees by facilitating the development of their root systems, inhibiting weed germination, and suppressing weed growth. The present study was carried out in Ghorogh Nursery, Golestan Northern Iran, in order to investigate the impact of wood chips application on root growth of oak (Quercus castaneifolia) seedlings and control of weed. A three centimeter wood chip layer was used on the soil surface as the mulch treatment with bare soil as the control. The number of new roots, the length of exciting roots and the density of weeds were measured after 5 and 12 weeks. Results showed that wood chip application had significant positive effect on the length of excising roots after 5 and 12 weeks compared with control seedlings. Also, weeds were reduced to near zero levels in treated plot. Our findings suggested that wood chip layer on the soil surface in the nursery can conserve soil moisture and prevent nutrient leaching from the rooting zone as well as diminish weed growth which consequently lead to production of high quality seedling.Armin Mashayekhan Seyed Mohammad Hojjati 2013Journal of Forestry Research2013,24,3:1

9On the Nature of Caspian Clouds显示文摘Caspian clouds(CCs)are formed between the southern coast of the Caspian Sea and the Alborz Mountains.The purpose of this study is to identify characteristics of CCs using aerosol,cloud,and meteorological data from ModernEra Retrospective analysis for Research and Applications version 2(MERRA-2),Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS),and ECMWF Reanalysis version 5(ERA5)during 2000–2020.During this period,we identified and investigated 636 days with CCs.The results indicated that the frequency(%)of these clouds was higher in the summer than in other seasons because synoptic system activity varies between hot and cold periods.The hot season with the beginning of high-pressure subtropical Azores activity and the formation of a stable atmosphere in northern Iran leads to more frequent occurrence of CCs.These clouds are mainly the low-and middle-level clouds in the region,e.g.,stratus and altocumulus.CCs resulted in 13.9%of annual rainfall,and 55.9%and 18.7%of the summer and autumn rainfall,respectively,relative to total rainfall from all cloud types in the study region.In the multivariate regression analysis,CC precipitation exhibited a strong positive relationship with the cloud water path(CWP),cloud optical thickness(COT),and cloud effective radius(CER).A comparison of the mean and standard deviation of aerosol optical thickness(AOT)and aerosol index(AI)for CC and non-CC days did not show a significant difference.Examination of the synoptic patterns showed that the main factors in the formation of CCs are the specific environmental conditions of the region and the orographic lift of stable air masses.The Hybrid Single-Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory(HYSPLIT)model indicated that the source of moisture for the formation of CCs was largely the Caspian Sea.Rashedi SHAHNAZ Mohammadi GOLAMHASAN Jahanbakhshasl SAEED Khorshiddoust ALI MOHAMMAD Sorooshian ARMIN Dmitrovic SANJA Tajbar SAPNA 2023Journal of Meteorological Research2023,37,2:1
10Cultivation system influenced the critical period for weed control in cotton field显示文摘Background The critical period of weed control(CPWC) refers to the period of time during the crop growth cycle when weeds must be controlled to prevent yield losses.Ultra-narrow row(UNR) is a method of planting of cotton in rows that are 25 cm or less apart.Amongst cultural techniques for weed control,the use of narrow row spacing is considered to be a most promising approach that can effectively suppress weed growth and provide greater yields in cotton.This cultivation system can shorten the length of the critical weed-crop interference duration and results in greater yield.The current research aimed to determination of critical time of weed control in cotton(Gossypium hirsutum L.) under conventional and ultra-narrow row spacing conditions.Field experiments were arranged as factorial experiment in a randomized complete block design with three replications.Factors were cultivation system(conventional(50 cm row spacing) and ultra narrow row(25 cm row spacing and weed treatment including 30,45,60,and 75 days weeding after emergence during the growing season(weed free),and 30,45,60,and 75 without weeding(weed infested) in the growing season along with weedy and weed-free from sowing to harvesting.A four-parameter loglogistic model was fit to the two sets of relating relative crop yield to data obtained from increasing durations of weed interference and lengths of weed-free period.Results In both years and cultivation systems,the relative yield of cotton decreased with the increasing duration of weed-interference but increased with the increasing duration of weed-free period.Ultra-narrow row cultivation delayed the beginning of the CPWC in cotton.Under ultra-narrow row condition,the CPWC ranged from 21 to 99 days after germination in 2021 and 23 to 91 days in 2022 based on the 5% acceptable yield loss.Under conventional cultivation CPWC ranged from 17 to 102 days after emergence in 2021 and 18 to 95 days after emergence in 2022.Conclusions Under both conventional and Ultra-narrow row conditions,weed interference reduces seed yield.Under ultra-narrow row condition,weed interference until 21.1–23.5 days after cotton emergence and under conventional condition,weed interference until 16.9–18.5 days after cotton emergence had not significant reduction on cotton yield.GHALENOVI Narges ARMIN Mohammad JAMI MOEINI Matin 2023Journal of Cotton Research2023,6,3:0
