1Mechanism for the formation of the January 2013 heavy haze pollution episode over central and eastern China显示文摘In January 2013,a long-lasting episode of severe haze occurred in central and eastern China,and it attracted attention from all sectors of society.The process and evolution of haze pollution episodes were observed by the'Forming Mechanism and Control Strategies of Haze in China'group using an intensive aerosol and trace gases campaign that simultaneously obtained data at 11 ground-based observing sites in the CARE-China network.The characteristics and formation mechanism of haze pollution episodes were discussed.Five haze pollution episodes were identified in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei(Jing-Jin-Ji)area;the two most severe episodes occurred during 9–15 January and 25–31 January.During these two haze pollution episodes,the maximum hourly PM2.5mass concentrations in Beijing were 680 and 530μg m 3,respectively.The process and evolution of haze pollution episodes in other major cities in the Jing-Jin-Ji area,such as Shijiazhuang and Tianjin were almost the same as those observed in Beijing.The external cause of the severe haze episodes was the unusual atmospheric circulation,the depression of strong cold air activities and the very unfavorable dispersion due to geographical and meteorological conditions.However,the internal cause was the quick secondary transformation of primary gaseous pollutants to secondary aerosols,which contributed to the'explosive growth'and'sustained growth'of PM2.5.Particularly,the abnormally high amount of nitric oxide(NOx)in the haze episodes,produced by fossil fuel combustion and vehicle emissions,played a direct or indirect role in the quick secondary transformation of coal-burning sulphur dioxide(SO2)to sulphate aerosols.Furthermore,gaseous pollutants were transformed into secondary aerosols through heterogeneous reactions on the surface of fine particles,which can change the particle’s size and chemical composition.Consequently,the proportion of secondary inorganic ions,such as sulphate and nitrate,gradually increased,which enhances particle hygroscopicity and thereby accelerating formation of the haze pollution.WANG YueSi YAO Li WANG LiLi LIU ZiRui JI DongSheng TANG GuiQian ZHANG JunKe SUN Yang HU Bo XIN JinYuan 2014Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,1:189
2Contrasting trends of PM2.5 and surface-ozone concentrations in China from 2013 to 2017显示文摘Although much attention has been paid to investigating and controlling air pollution in China,the trends of air-pollutant concentrations on a national scale have remained unclear.Here,we quantitatively investigated the variation of air pollutants in China using long-term comprehensive data sets from 2013 to 2017,during which Chinese government made major efforts to reduce anthropogenic emission in polluted regions.Our results show a significant decreasing trend in the PM2.5 concentration in heavily polluted regions of eastern China,with an annual decrease of〜7%compared with measurements in 2013.The measured decreased concentrations of SO2>NO2 and CO(a proxy for anthropogenic volatile organic compounds)could explain a large fraction of the decreased PM2.5 concentrations in different regions.As a consequence;the heavily polluted days decreased significantly in corresponding regions.Concentrations of organic aerosol;nitrate;sulfate,ammonium and chloride measured in urban Beijing revealed a remarkable reduction from 2013 to 2017;connecting the decreases in aerosol precursors with corresponding chemical components closely.However;surface-ozone concentrations showed increasing trends in most urban stations from 2013 to 2017;which indicates stronger photochemical pollution.The boundary-layer height in capital c让ies of eastern China showed no significant trends over the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei,Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions from 2013 to 2017;which confirmed the reduction in anthropogenic emissions.Our results demonstrated that the Chinese government was successful in the reduction of particulate matter in urban areas from 2013 to 2017,although the ozone concentration has increased significantly;suggesting a more complex mechanism of improving Chinese air quality in the future.Yonghong Wang Wenkang Gao Shuai Wang Tao Song Zhengyu Gong Dongsheng Ji Lili Wang Zirui Liu Guiqian Tang Yanfeng Huo Shili Tian Jiayun Li Mingge Li Yuan Yang Biwu Chu Tuukka Petaja Veli-Matti Kerminen Hong He Jiming Hao Markku Kulmala Yuesi Wang Yuanhang Zhang 2020National Science Review2020,7,8:51
3In situ measurement of PM_1 organic aerosol in Beijing winter using a high-resolution aerosol mass spectrometer显示文摘Organic aerosol (OA) is a crucial component of atmospheric fine particles. To achieve a better understanding of the chemical characteristics and sources of OA in Beijing, the size-resolved chemical composition of submicron aerosols were measured in-situ using a High-Resolution Time-of-Flight Aerosol Mass Spectrometer in the winter of 2010, with a high time resolution of 5 min. During this study, the mean OA mass concentration was 20.9±25.3 μg/m3, varying between 1.9 and 284.6 μg/m3. Elemental analysis showed that the average H/C, O/C and N/C (molar ratio) were 1.70, 0.17, and 0.005, respectively, corresponding to an OM/OC ratio (mass ratio of organic matter to organic carbon) of 1.37. The average mass-based size distributions of OA present a promi- nent accumulation mode peaking at approximately 450 nm. The prominent presence of ultrafine particles (Dva < 100 nm) was mainly from the fresh emissions of combustion sources. A Positive Matrix Factorisation (PMF) analysis of the organic mass spectral dataset differentiated the OA into three components, including hydrocarbon-like (HOA), cooking-related (COA), and oxygenated (OOA) organic aerosols, which, on average, accounted for 26.9%, 49.7% and 23.4%, respectively, of the total organic mass. 4Cryptotanshinone suppresses key onco-proliferative and drugresistant pathways of chronic myeloid leukemia by targeting STAT5 and STAT3 phosphorylation显示文摘C-Myc and signal transducer and activator of transcription(STAT) family proteins have been proposed to be important downstream genes of BCR-ABL, which characterizes most cases of chronic myeloid leukemia(CML). Here, we report a c-Myc pathway-targeted screening of seven natural anticancer compounds, in which we identified cryptotanshinone as a highly promising agent for CML therapy. Cryptotanshinone depletes c-Myc in CML by repressing the phosphorylation of STAT5.Decreased viability of K562 cells correlated with p-STAT5 suppression. Unexpectedly, imatinib activates rather than inhibits the phosphorylation of STAT3 in K562 cells. We demonstrated that cryptotanshinone, as a dual inhibitor of p-STAT5 and p-STAT3,can effectively block IL-6-mediated STAT3 activation and reverse BCR-ABL kinase-independent drug resistance. Moreover, we showed that the epigenetic rebalance between decreased BCR-ABL/STAT5/c-Myc and enhanced STAT3/multi-drug resistance(MDR) pathways is characteristic of the cancer stem cell-like property of K562/ADR. Simultaneously suppressing these two pathways using cryptotanshinone proves to be critical for the malignant network redress and MDR reversal of K562/ADR. 5Dietary seaweed-derived polysaccharides improve growth performance of weaned pigs through maintaining intestinal barrier function and modulating gut microbial populations显示文摘Background:Seaweed-derived polysaccharides(SDP)represent an attractive source of prebiotic nutraceuticals for the food and animal husbandry industry.However,the mechanism by which SDP from Enteromorpha mediates pig growth are not fully understood.This study aimed to investigate how SDP supplementation influences the growth performance and intestinal health in weaned pigs.Results:In Exp.1,240 weaned pigs were randomly assigned to four dietary treatments and fed with a basal diet or a basal diet containing 200,400 or 800 mg/kg SDP,respectively,in a 21-day trial.Pigs on the 400 or 800 mg/kg SDP-supplemented group had greater ADG and lower F/G ratio than those on the control group(P<0.05).In Exp.2,20 male weaned pigs were randomly assigned to two treatments and fed with a basal diet(CON group)or a basal diet supplemented with 400 mg/kg SDP(the optimum does from Exp.1),in a 21-day trial.Pigs fed the SDP diet had greater ADG,the concentrations of serum IL-6 and TNF-αand the activities of glutathione peroxidase,superoxide dismutase and catalase(P<0.05),and lower F/G,diarrhea rate,as well as serum D-lactate concentrations and diamine oxidase activity(P<0.05).Moreover,dietary SDP supplementation enhanced secretory immunoglobulin A content,villus height and villous height:crypt depth ratio in small intestine,as well as the lactase and maltase activities in jejunum mucosa(P<0.05).SDP supplementation elevated the mRNA levels of inflammatory responserelated genes(IL-6,TNF-α,TLR4,TLR6 and MyD88),and the mRNA and protein levels of ZO-1,claudin-1 and occludin in jejunum mucosa(P<0.05).Importantly,SDP not only increased the Lactobacillus population but also reduced the Escherichia coli population in cecum(P<0.05).Furthermore,SDP increased acetic acid and butyric acid concentrations in cecum(P<0.05).Conclusions:These results not only suggest a beneficial effect of SDP on growth performance and intestinal barrier functions,but also offer potential mechanisms behind SDP-facilitated intestinal health in weaned pigs.Tiande Zou Jin Yang Xiaobo Guo Qin He Zirui Wang Jinming You 2021Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2021,12,3:10
6Chemical characteristics and source apportionment of PM_(2.5) in a petrochemical city: Implications for primary and secondary carbonaceous component显示文摘To study the pollution features and underlying mechanism of PM_(2.5) in Luoyang, a typical developing urban site in the central plain of China, 303 PM_(2.5) samples were collected from April 16 to December 29, 2015 to analyze the elements, water soluble inorganic ions, organic carbon and elemental carbon. The annual mean concentration of PM_(2.5) was 142.3 μg/m^(3), and 75% of the daily PM_(2.5) concentrations exceeded the 75 μg/m^(3). The secondary inorganic ions, organic matter and mineral dust were the most abundant species, accounting for 39.6%, 19.2% and 9.3% of the total mass concentration, respectively. But the major chemical components showed clear seasonal dependence. SO_(4)^(2-) was most abundant specie in spring and summer, which related to intensive photochemical reaction under high O_3 concentration. In contrast, the secondary organic carbon and ammonium while primary organic carbon and ammonium significantly contributed to haze formation in autumn and winter, respectively. This indicated that the collaboration effect of secondary inorganic aerosols and carbonaceous matters result in heavy haze in autumn and winter. Six main sources were identified by positive matrix factorization model: industrial emission, combustion sources, traffic emission, mineral dust, oil combustion and secondary sulfate, with the annual contribution of 24%, 20%, 24%, 4%, 5% and 23%, respectively. The potential source contribution function analysis pointed that the contribution of the local and short-range regional transportation had significant impact. 7The model of tracing drift targets and its application in the South China Sea显示文摘A Leeway-Trace model was established for the traceability analysis of drifting objects at sea.The model was based on the Leeway model which is a Monte Carlo-based ensemble trajectory model,and a method of realistic traceability analysis was proposed in this study by using virtual spatiotemporal drift trajectory prediction.Here,measured data from a drifting buoy observation experiment in the northern South China Sea in April 2019,combined with surface current data obtained from the finite volume community ocean model(FVCOM),were used for the traceability analysis of humanoid buoys.The results were basically consistent with the observations,and the assimilation of measured current data can significantly improve the accuracy of the traceability analysis.Several sensitive experiments were designed to discuss the effects of wind and tide on the traceability analysis,and their results showed that the wind-driven current and the wind-induced leeway drift are both important to the traceability analysis.The effect of tidal currents on traceability could not be ignored even though they were much weaker than the residual currents in the experimental area of the northern South China Sea.Yang Chen Shouxian Zhu Wenjing Zhang Zirui Zhu Muxi Bao 2022Acta Oceanologica Sinica2022,41,4:2
8Characterization of Organic Aerosols in Beijing Using an Aerodyne High-Resolution Aerosol Mass Spectrometer显示文摘Fine particle of organic aerosol(OA), mostly arising from pollution, are abundant in Beijing. To achieve a better understanding of the difference in OA in summer and autumn, a high-resolution time-of-flight aerosol mass spectrometer(HRTo F-AMS, Aerodyne Research Inc., USA) was deployed in urban Beijing in August and October 2012. The mean OA mass concentration in autumn was 30 ± 30 μg m-3, which was higher than in summer(13 ± 6.9 μg m-3). The elemental analysis found that OA was more aged in summer(oxygen-to-carbon(O/C) ratios were 0.41 and 0.32 for summer and autumn,respectively). Positive matrix factorization(PMF) analysis identified three and five components in summer and autumn, respectively. In summer, an oxygenated OA(OOA), a cooking-emission-related OA(COA), and a hydrocarbon-like OA(HOA)were indentified. Meanwhile, the OOA was separated into LV-OOA(low-volatility OOA) and SV-OOA(semi-volatile OOA);and in autumn, a nitrogen-containing OA(NOA) was also found. The SOA(secondary OA) was always the most important OA component, accounting for 55% of the OA in the two seasons. Back trajectory clustering analysis found that the origin of the air masses was more complex in summer. Southerly air masses in both seasons were associated with the highest OA loading, while northerly air masses were associated with the lowest OA loading. 11PVdF-HFP-Based Gel Polymer Electrolyte with Semi-Interpenetrating Networks For Dendrite-Free Lithium Metal Battery显示文摘The safety issues and lower energy density of the lithium metal batteries are the two main challenges that hinder their applications in the fields of electric vehicles and portable devices.In this work,the semi-interpenetrated polyvinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene(PVdF-HFP)-based gel polymer electrolyte was synthesized through UV-curing method by employing the ethoxylated trimethylolpropane triacrylate(ETPTA)monomer.The semi-interpenetrating networks formed by polymerization of ETPTA and the high liquid absorption rate of the PVdF-HFP impart the as-prepared electrolyte with a high room temperature ionic conductivity of 3.17×10-3 s cm^(-1)and a high mechanical strength of 3.46 MPa.LiFePO4 was selected as cathode materials,and the active material loading of the cathode is about 4.2 mg cm-2.The electrolyte shows superior long-term cycling properties(127 mAh g^(-1)after 200 cycles at 0.5 C),excellent rate performance(113 mAh g^(-1)at1 C,80 mAh g^(-1)at 2 C,and the discharge capacity of 135 mAh g^(-1)can be restored when the rate goes back to 0.1 C)as well as good ability to inhibit the growth of lithium dendrite(about 150 h).The facile synthesis strategy and great electrochemical performance of the electrolyte make it a potential candidate for lithium metal batteries.Lu Liu Xiaodong Wang Chenhui Yang Peng Han Lei Zhang Li Gao Zirui Wu Bingxin Liu Ruiping Liu 2021Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2021,34,3:1

13Insight into the underlying competitive mechanism for the shift of the charge neutrality point in a trilayer-graphene field-effect transistor显示文摘Layer-number modulation in graphene has become a recent focus of research due to the superior degree of freedom that can be achieved in terms of magic-angle,wettability,superconductivity,and superlattices.However,the intrinsic transport of multilayer graphene is indistinguishable in atmospheric adsorbates and supporting environment,and its underlying charge transfer mechanism has not yet been thoroughly determined.In this study,a shift in the charge neutrality point of trilayer graphene(TLG)is demonstrated to be regulated by three governing factors:oxygen gas(O_(2)),water molecules(H_(2)O),and thermally activated electrons.Absorbed O_(2) induces a high work function in semimetallic TLG,while H_(2)O is not an evident dopant but can strengthen binding against O_(2) desorption.A simplified model is developed to elucidate the competitive mechanism and charge transfer among these two dopants(O_(2),H_(2)O)and thermal electrons,and the model is demonstrated by work function regulation and Bader charge transfer based on density functional theory calculations.This study provides a strategy to explore transport modulation of multilayer graphene in the fields of ballistic transport and low power consumption of graphene field-effect transistors.Tao Huang Jiafen Ding Zirui Liu Rui Zhang BoLei Zhang Kai Xiong Longzhou Zhang Chong Wang Shili Shen Cuiyu Li Peng Yang Feng Qiu 2022eScience2022,2,3:1

15Synthesis of Iron-Carbide Nanoparticles:Identification of the Active Phase and Mechanism of Fe-Based Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis显示文摘Despite the extensive study of the Fe-based Fischer-Tropsch synthesis(FTS)over the past 90 years,its active phases and reaction mechanisms are still unclear due to the coexistence of metals,oxides,and carbide phases presented under realistic FTS reaction conditions and the complex reaction network involving CO activation,C-C coupling,and methane formation.To address these issues,we successfully synthesized a range of pure-phase iron and iron-carbide nanoparticles(Fe,Fe_(5)C_(2),Fe_(3)C,and Fe_(7)C_(3))for the first time.By using them as the ideal model catalysts on high-pressure transient experiments,we identified unambiguously that all the iron carbides are catalytically active in the FTS reaction while Fe_(5)C_(2) is the most active yet stable carbide phase,consistent with density functional theory(DFT)calculation results.The reaction mechanism and kinetics of Fe-based FTS were further explored on the basis of those model catalysts by means of transient high-pressure stepwise temperature-programmed surface reaction(STPSR)experiments and DFT calculations.Our work provides new insights into the active phase of iron carbides and corresponding FTS reaction mechanism,which is essential for better iron-based catalyst design for FTS reactions.Huabo Zhao Jin-Xun Liu Ce Yang Siyu Yao Hai-Yan Su Zirui Gao Mei Dong Junhu Wang Alexandre I.Rykov Jianguo Wang Yanglong Hou Wei-Xue Li Ding Ma 2021CCS Chemistry2021,3,11:1

20Punicalagin prevents obesity-related cardiac dysfunction through promoting DNA demethylation in mice显示文摘The aim of this study was to investigate whether punicalagin(PU)could prevent obesity-related cardiac dysfunction by promoting DNA demethy lation,and to explore its possible mechanism.C57BL/6J mice were fed with standard diet,high-fat diet(HFD),HFD supplemented with resveratrol,low-dose PU(LPU)and high-dose PU(HPU)for 8 weeks.Compared with HFD group,body weight was significantly lower in PU treatment groups,number of cardionwocytes and the protein level of myosin heavy chain 7B were significantly higher in PU treatment groups.Levels of 5-hydroxymethylcytosine and 5-formylcytosine were significantly lower in HFD group than in other groups.Compared with the HFD group,the protein level of ten-eleven translocation enzyme(TET)2 was significantly higher in PU treatment groups,p-AMP-activated protein kinase(AMPK)was significantly higher in LPU group.Levels of total antioxidant capacity and the protein levels of complexesⅡ/Ⅲ/Ⅴ,oxoglutarate dehydrogenase,succinate dehydrogenase B and fumarate hdrolase were significantly lower in HFD group than PU treatment group.The ratio of(succinic acid+fumaric acid)/a-ketoglutarate was significantly higher in HFD group than other groups.In conclusion,PU up-regulated TETs enzyme activities and TET2 protein stability through alleviating mitochondrial dysfunction and activating AMPK,so as to promote DNA demethylation,thus preventing obesity-related cardiac dysfunction.Shengjie Pei Run Liu Qingqing Ma Peng Jiang Xin He Zhongshi Qi Jiacheng Fang Xu Yang Zirui Yao Xiaoqian Liu Xianfeng Jing Lei Chen Duo Li 2024Food Science and Human Wellness2024,13,3:0
