2Vegetation and climate change during Marine Isotope Stage 3 in China显示文摘Fossil pollen records from 45 sites across China were evaluated and synthesized to document vegetation and climate change during Marine Isotope Stage 3(MIS 3)at 60–27 ka and to understand the large-scale controls.During MIS3, vegetation type was dominantly forest in eastern China, forest steppe/meadow in the north and Tibetan Plateau, and steppe desert in northwestern arid China. We developed a semi-quantitative vegetation index to reflect change in plant abundance(by inferring the general climate conditions), with a vegetation score from 1to 3 based on the different vegetation types inferred from pollen data at individual sites at intervals of 2,000 years. The reconstructed vegetation index shows higher values during MIS 3, especially during the period 53–40 ka, than at the Last Glacial Maximum. Our results also suggest that climate on the basis of vegetation change was cooler and drier during MIS 3 than during the Holocene optimum;however, MIS 3 vegetation was probably similar to modern vegetation. The close relationship between vegetation change, insolation and Asian summer monsoon strength suggests that climate variations, probably in both temperature and precipitation, are the primary drivers of regional vegetation change. Additional well-dated, high-resolution palaeoclimate records from many locations across China will be needed to understand the vegetation change and climate forcings on millennial and centennial scales within MIS 3.Yan Zhao Zicheng Yu Ulrike Herzschuh Bao Yang Hui Zhao Keyan Fang Huan Li Quan Li 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,33:2

5Structural architecture of Neoproterozoic rifting depression groups in the Tarim Basin and their formation dynamics显示文摘The Tarim Basin is the largest, oil-bearing, superimposed basin in the northwest of China. The evolution and tectonic properties of the initial Tarim Basin have been hotly disputed and remain enigmatic. The Neoproterozoic basin is covered by a vast desert and a huge-thickness of sedimentary strata, has experienced multiple tectonic movements, had a low signal to noise ratios(SNRs) of deep seismic reflection data, all of which have posed critical obstacles to research. We analysed four field outcrops, 18 wells distributed throughout the basin, 27 reprocessed seismic reflection profiles with higher SNRs across the basin and many ancillary local 2D and 3D profiles and aeromagnetic data. We found about 20 normal fault-controlled rifting depressions of the Cryogenian and Ediacaran scattered throughout the basin, which developed on the Precambrian metamorphic and crystalline basement. The structural framework is clearly different from that of the overlying Phanerozoic. The rifting depressions consist of mainly half grabens, symmetrical troughs and horst-grabens. From the northeast to southwest of the basin, they are divided into three rifting depression groups with the WNW, ENE, and NW-trends that are mainly controlled by normal faults. The maximum thicknesses of the strata are up to 4100 m. From the Cryogenian to Ediacaran, most of the main inherited faults to active and eventually ceased at the end of the Ediacaran or Early Cambrian, while subsidence centres appeared and migrated eastward along the faults. They revealed that the different parts of the Tarim continental block were in NNE-SSWoriented and NNW-SSE-oriented extensional paleo-stress fields(relative to the present) during the Neoproterozoic, and were accompanied by clockwise shearing. According to the analysis of the activities of syn-sedimentary faults, filling sediments, magmatic events, and coordination with aeromagnetic anomalies, the tectonic properties of the fault depressions are different and are primarily continental rifts or intra-continental fault-controlled basins. The rifting phases mainly occurred from 0.8–0.61 Ga.The formation of the rifting depression was associated with the initial opening of the South Altun-West Kunlun Ocean and the South Tianshan Ocean, which were located at the northern and southern margins of the Tarim Block, respectively, in response to the break-up of the Supercontinent Rodinia and the initial opening of the Proto-Tethys Ocean.Bizhu HE Cunli JIAO Taizhu HUANG Xingui ZHOU Zhihui CAI Zicheng CAO Zhongzheng JIANG Junwen CUI Zhuoyin YU Weiwei CHEN Ruohan LIU Xiaorui YUN Guangming HAO 2019Science China Earth Sciences2019,62,3:2

8Predicting the alloying element yield in a ladle furnace using principal component analysis and deep neural network显示文摘The composition control of molten steel is one of the main functions in the ladle furnace(LF)refining process. In this study,a feasible model was established to predict the alloying element yield using principal component analysis(PCA)and deep neural network(DNN).The PCA was used to eliminate collinearity and reduce the dimension of the input variables, and then the data processed by PCA were used to establish the DNN model. The prediction hit ratios for the Si element yield in the error ranges of±1%,±3%,and±5%are 54.0%,93.8%,and98.8%,respectively,whereas those of the Mn element yield in the error ranges of±1%,±2%,and±3%are 77.0%,96.3%,and 99.5%,respectively,in the PCA-DNN model. The results demonstrate that the PCA-DNN model performs better than the known models, such as the reference heat method, multiple linear regression, modified backpropagation, and DNN model.Meanwhile, the accurate prediction of the alloying element yield can greatly contribute to realizing a“narrow window”control of composition in molten steel. The construction of the prediction model for the element yield can also provide a reference for the development of an alloying control model in LF intelligent refining in the modern iron and steel industry.Zicheng Xin Jiangshan Zhang Yu Jin Jin Zheng Qing Liu 2023International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2023,30,2:1

11Pedigree analysis of a POLD1 germline mutation in urothelial carcinoma shows a close association between different mutation burdens and overall survival显示文摘Bladder cancer(BCa)is the ninth most frequently diagnosed tumor worldwide, and smoking remains a major risk faaor.BCa is divided into nonmuscle invasive bladder cancer(NMIBC)and muscle invasive bladder cancer(MIBC).1 NMIBC accounts for 70-80% of all BCa cases, its recurrence rate is high, and 20-30% of NMIBC patients progress to MIBC.Yejinpeng Wang Lingao Ju Zicheng Guo Kaiyu Qian Hongbo Chen Yi Zhang Yu Xiao Xinghuan Wang 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,3:1
