| 1 | Application of confocal laser Raman spectroscopy on marine sediment microplastics显示文摘Marine sediment is the primary sink of microplastics and is an indicator of pollution levels. However, although there are well-developed detection methods, detection is rarely focused on lowmicrometer-sized particles, mainly due to technique limitations. In this study,a simplifi ed process omitting digestion procedures was developed to pretreat microplastics obtained from marine sediment and was coupled with micro-Raman spectroscopy to identify microplastics.Based on the overall analysis of the characteristic peak assignments,a Raman spectral reference library was constructed for 18 types of plastic. In addition, the eff ects of the measurement parameters were systematically described.Field research was then conducted to validate the developed process and investigate microplastic contamination in Huiquan Bay,Qingdao,China. This simplifi ed process could retain the original appearance of microparticles and accomplish the detection of<500μm-sized microplastics in environmental samples.Microplastics in the size range of 10-150μm accounted for 76%of all microplastics, and 56%of the total particles was particles smaller than 50μm.Polypropylene(42%)and polyethylene(20%)were predominant components of the particles. In particular, polypropylene particles smaller than 10μm were identifi ed in marine sediment. This work demonstrates that Raman spectroscopy is not only an eff ective tool for detecting environmental particles but also highly applicable for identifying particles extracted from marine sediment. | LIU Jing ZHANG Xin DU Zengfeng LUAN Zhendong LI Lianfu XI Shichuan WANG Bing CAO Lei YAN Jun | 2020 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,5: | 2 |

| 3 | The Influence of Two Natural Reinforcement Fibers on the Hygrothermal Properties of Earthen Plasters in Mogao Grottoes of China显示文摘Murals in Mogao Grottoes consist of three parts:support layer, earthen plasters and paint layer. The earthen plasters play a key role in the preservation of murals. It is a mixture of Dengban soil, sand, and plant fiber. Two different natural fibers, hemp fiber and cotton fiber, were reinforced to earthen plasters in the same percentage to evaluate the influence on hygrothermal performance. The two types of earthen plasters were studied:one containing hemp fiber in the fine plaster(HFP)and the other containing cotton fiber in the fine plaster(CFP).Specific heat capacity, dry thermal conductivity, water vapor permeability, and sorption isotherms were investigated. The results showed that the difference between two natural fibers has much more impact on the hygric properties(water vapor permeability and sorption isotherms)of earthen plasters than on their thermal performance(specific heat capacity and dry thermal conductivity). The CFP with higher density has higher thermal conductivity than the HFP with lower density. But no significant differences of specific heat capacity were observed.Compared with HFP,CFP used in murals can reduce the rate of water transfer and prevent salt from transferring water to the mural surface. The overall findings highlight that all these features of CFP are beneficial to the long-term preservation of murals. The study of the earthen plasters in Mogao Grottoes is of general significance, and the measured properties can be used to obtain coupled heat and moisture analysis of the earthen plasters and to dissect the degradation mechanism of murals. | Wenbei Bi Zengfeng Yan Huan Zhao Lixin Sun Xudong Wang Zhengmo Zhang | 2020 | Journal of Renewable Materials2020,8,12: | 0 |
| 4 | Cross-protective effect of acid adaptation on ethanol tolerance in Salmonella Enteritidis显示文摘Cross protection can undermine the effectiveness of control measures on foodborne pathogens, and therefore brings major implications for food safety. In this work, the capacity of Salmonella Enteritidis to mount ethanol tolerance following acid adaptation was characterized by analysis of cell viability and cell membrane property. It was observed that preadaptation to pH 4.5 significantly(P<0.05)increased the tolerance of log-phase cells to ethanol;in contrast,stationary-phase cells displayed reduced ethanol tolerance after acid adaptation. However, acid adaptation did not cause cell leakage and morphological change in both log-phase and stationary-phase S.Enteritidis.Fatty acid analysis further revealed that the amount of C_(14:0),C_(17:0 cyclo) and C_(19:0 cyclo) fatty acids was increased, while that of C_(16:1ω7c) and C_(18:1ω7c) fatty acids was decreased, respectively,in response to acid adaptation, regardless of bacterial growth phase.Notably, acid adaptation significantly(P<0.05)increased the proportion of C_(16:0) fatty acid in log-phase cells, but this effect did not occur in stationary-phase cells. Moreover, exogenous addition of C_(16:0) fatty acid to stationary-phase acid-adapted cultures was able to enhance bacterial ethanol tolerance.Taken together,C_(16:0) fatty acid is involved in the growth-phase-dependent protective effect of acid adaptation on ethanol tolerance in S.Enteritidis. | Shoukui He Beining Ye Zengfeng Zhang Yan Cui Siyun Wang Xianming Shi | 2023 | Food Science and Human Wellness2023,12,4: | 0 |
