2Oral microbiota in human systematic diseases显示文摘Oral bacteria directly affect the disease status of dental caries and periodontal diseases. The dynamic oral microbiota cooperates with the host to reflect the information and status of immunity and metabolism through two-way communication along the oral cavity and the systemic organs. The oral cavity is one of the most important interaction windows between the human body and the environment.The microenvironment at different sites in the oral cavity has different microbial compositions and is regulated by complex signaling,hosts, and external environmental factors. These processes may affect or reflect human health because certain health states seem to be related to the composition of oral bacteria, and the destruction of the microbial community is related to systemic diseases. In this review, we discussed emerging and exciting evidence of complex and important connections between the oral microbes and multiple human systemic diseases, and the possible contribution of the oral microorganisms to systemic diseases. This review aims to enhance the interest to oral microbes on the whole human body, and also improve clinician’s understanding of the role of oral microbes in systemic diseases. 3A draft sequence of the rice (Oryza sativa ssp. indica) genome显示文摘The sequence of the rice genome holds fundamental information for its biology, including physiology, genetics, development, and evolution, as well as information on many beneficial phenotypes of economic significance. Using a 'whole genome shotgun' approach, we have pro-duced a draft rice genome sequence of Oryza sativa ssp. in-dica, the major crop rice subspecies in China and many other regions of Asia. The draft genome sequence is constructed from over 4.3 million successful sequencing traces with an accumulative total length of 2214.9 Mb. The initial assembly of the non-redundant sequences reached 409.76 Mb in length, based on 3.30 million successful sequencing traces with a total length of 1797.4 Mb from an indica variant cultivar 93-11, giving an estimated coverage of 95.29% of the rice genome with an average base accuracy of higher than 99%. 4Inducing Flow Velocities to Manage Fish Reproduction in Regulated Rivers显示文摘Conservation of endangered or economic fish and control of invasive fish is a great challenge of hydraulic engineering worldwide.Flow velocity has been recognized to affect the spawning of fishes delivering drifting eggs in rivers.However,solid scientific supports and associated mechanisms to establish quantitative relations between flow velocity and fish reproduction,taking into account spawning,fertilizing,hatching,as well as surviving,are lacking.In this paper,we quantified the relationship between flow velocity and reproduction of Chinese carps through both lab and field experiments.The results showed that a minimum velocity was required to trigger Hypophthalmichthys molitrix(H.molitrix)releasing eggs,and a velocity range was preferred to sustain spawning activity.However,the embryo incubation and larvae development of H.molitrix were found to be inhibited with the increase in flow velocity.Considering the requirements of spawning and hatching,as well as larvae surviving,an optimized flow velocity processes was identified for the reproduction of H.molitrix in rivers.These findings were of great significance to the adaptive operation of reservoirs to create reasonable and precise ecological flows for managing fish reproduction,as shown by the promising results in the engineering application to the Three Gorges Reservoir.Qiuwen Chen Jianyun Zhang Yuchen Chen Kangle Mo Jun Wang Lei Tang Yuqing Lin Lei Chen Yong Gao Wei Jiang Yuxin Zhang 2021Engineering2021,7,2:4
5Effects of complement inhibition on the ABC phenomenon in rats显示文摘Researchers reported that intravenously injected PEGylated colloidal drug carriers lose their long-circulating characteristic and accumulated extensively in liver when they are administrated twice in the same animal with certain intervals. This phenomenon was referred to as the 'accelerated blood clearance(ABC) phenomenon'. Some former studies had found that complement-mediated phagocytosis, activated by antigen–antibody complex, was responsible for inducing the phenomenon. According to the theory, we have used cobra venom factor to deplete complement in vivo and to investigate the effect of complement inhibition on the ABC phenomenon. Rats were administered by injection of cobra venom factor solution to build up the model of complement exhaustion/inhibition, and the effect of the inhibition of complement on ABC phenomenon was carried out. It seemed that inhibition of complement didn’t affect the pharmacokinetic of the first infection. By contrast, in rats of which complement had been depleted, the second dose of PEGylated nanoemulsions showed enhanced circulation time compared with normal rats in a complement inhibition-independent manner, but the ABC phenomenon was not completely eliminated. 6Numerical Predictions of the Effective Thermal Conductivity of the Rigid Polyurethane Foam显示文摘A reconstruction method is proposed for the polyurethane foam and then a complete numerical method is developed to predict the effective thermal conductivity of the polyurethane foam. The finite volume method is applied to solve the 2D heterogeneous pure conduction. The lattice Boltzmann method is adopted to solve the 1D homogenous radiative transfer equation rather than Rosseland approximation equation. The lattice Boltzmann method is then adopted to solve 1D homogeneous conduction-radiation energy transport equation considering the combined effect of conduction and radiation. To validate the accuracy of the present method, the hot disk method is adopted to measure the effective thermal conductivity of the polyurethane foams at different temperature. The numerical results agree well with the experimental data. Then, the influences of temperature, porosity and cell size on the effective thermal conductivity of the polyurethane foam are investigated. 7Characteristics of oral methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis isolated from dental plaque显示文摘The oral microbial community is widely regarded as a latent reservoir of antibiotic resistance genes. This study assessed the molecular epidemiology, susceptibility profile, and resistance mechanisms of 35 methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis(MRSE) strains isolated from the dental plaque of a healthy human population. Broth microdilution minimum inhibitory concentrations(MICs) revealed that all the isolates were nonsusceptible to oxacillin and penicillin G. Most of them were also resistant to trimethoprim(65.7%) and erythromycin(54.3%). The resistance to multiple antibiotics was found to be largely due to the acquisition of plasmid-borne genes. The mec A and dfr A genes were found in all the isolates, mostly dfr G(80%), aac A-aph D(20%), aad D(28.6%), aph A3(22.9%), msr A(5.7%), and the erm C gene(14.3%). Classical mutational mechanisms found in these isolates were mainly efflux pumps such as qac A(31.4%), qac C(25.7%), tet K(17.1%), and nor A(8.6%). Multilocus sequence type analysis revealed that sequence type 59(ST59) strains comprised 71.43% of the typed isolates, and the e BURST algorithm clustered STs into the clonal complex 2-II(CC2-II). The staphyloccoccal cassette chromosome mec(SCCmec) type results showed that 25(71.43%) were assigned to type IV. Moreover, 88.66% of the isolates were found to harbor six or more biofilm-associated genes. The aap, atl E, embp, sdr F, and IS256 genes were detected in all 35 isolates. 8奥曲肽持续皮下泵入治疗恶性肠梗阻的临床观察(英文)显示文摘Objective: The aim of the study was to observe the effectiveness of continuously subcutaneous-pumped octreotide infusion in palliative treatment of malignant bowel obstruction (MBO).Methods: Clinical data were retrospectively analyzed in 26 carcinoma patients complicated with MBO,in the Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine,China,from March 2007 to April 2009.All 26 carcinoma patients with MBO were divided into two groups: the controlling group (CG,routine therapy,15 patients) and the octreotide group (OG,11 patients).The octreotide group received routine therapy combined with octreotide (0.3 mg/d) by 24 hours continuously subcutaneous octreotide infusion.The changes of curative effectiveness related to symptoms,the times of recovering exsufflation and defecation,the average drain of gastrointestinal drainage tube,the duration of gastrointestinal drainage tube and the rate of extubation,were observed and compared between the two groups.Results: After treatment,remarkable changing rates of MBO related symptoms were 81.8% (9/11) in OG,and 46.7% (7/15) in CG (P < 0.05).The 78% of SG and 30% of CG recovered the exsufflation and defecation,and the mean times they needed were 3.2 d and 5.8 d,respectively (P < 0.05).The durations of gastrointestinal drainage tube of OG and CG were (5 ± 1.2) d and (10 ± 2.3) d,respectively,and the rates of extubation were 54.5% and 20%,respectively.The improvement rate in the octreotide group was better than that in the controlling group and the difference was significant (72.7% and 26.7%,P < 0.05).Conclusion: The administration of octreotide in combination with routine treatment can be very effective in the treatment of MBO.It can relieve the symptoms of MBO effectively and improve the quality of life of the end-stage patients.It has provided one kind of new treating thought and method for treatment of malignant bowel obstruction.Dongfeng Yin Yin Zhu Yuqing Xing Hong Gao Yuzhen Pan Lin Pan Guangyi Tang Xiangrong Xing Lijiang Zhou 2011The Chinese-German Journal of Clinical Oncology2011,10,1:2

12Discovery of New Thioviridamide-Like Compounds with Antitumor Activities显示文摘Thioviridamide is a structurally unique compound with potent antitumor activity.The biosynthesis of thioviridamide follows a typical pathway as ribosomally synthesized and post-transiationally modified peptides,making the genome mining-based discovery of thioviridamide-like compounds rational.Taking advantage of the linkage between the precursor peptide and the metabolite skeleton,we identified a new biosynthetic gene cluster in Streptomyces sp.NRRL S-87 that could encode thioviridamide analogues.Overexpression of the whole gene cluster led to the isolation and structure elucidation of TVA-YJ-4 and TVA-YJ-5,two novel thioviridamide-like compounds featuring N-terminal capping groups.Chemical screening of the fermentation extracts also detected TVA-YJ-6,another new thioviridamide-like compound with representative methionine sulfoxide.Detailed analysis further revealed that these structural modifications were introduced during the compound extraction process instead of through genuine enzymatic reactions.TVA-YJ-4 and TVA-YJ-5 display slightly reduced cytotoxic activities against a panel of tumor cell lines in comparison with their parental natural product,TVA-YJ-2.Our work will expand the membership of this rare class of compounds and promote related biosynthetic studies.Yuqing Li Jingyu Liu Haoyu Tang Yanping Qiu Dandan Chen Wen Liu 2019Chinese Journal of Chemistry2019,37,10:1

15Stretchable and Superhydrophilic Polyaniline/Halloysite Decorated Nanofiber Composite Evaporator for High Efficiency Seawater Desalination显示文摘Here,authors report on composition of a stretchable,mechanically durable and superhydrophilic polyaniline(PANI)/hal-loysite nanotubes(HNTs)decorated PU nanofiber(PANI/HNTs@PU).The polymer nanofibers are placed as the core and PANI/HNTs makes the shell section.The PANI/HNTs creates a membrane with outstanding light absorption and photo-thermal conversion performance.The strong solar absorption capability and superhydrophilicity of the PANI/HNTs@PU remain almost unchanged during stretching,abrasion,and ultrasonic washing tests,exhibiting superior surface stability and durability.When the PANI/HNTs@PU is used for the interfacial evaporation,the evaporation rate and efficiency reach as high as 1.61 kg m^(-2) h^(-1) and 94.7%,respectively.No salt precipitation is observed on the solar absorber surface even under a high salinity or during the long term or cyclic evaporation test.Furthermore,the excellent interfacial evaporation function is maintained when the nanofiber composite is mechanically stretched.The PANI/HNTs@PU based evaporation device shows promising applications in high performance solar desalination.Jiang Han Wenqian Xing Jun Yan Jing Wen Yuntao Liu Yuqing Wang Zefeng Wu Longcheng Tang Jiefeng Gao 2022Advanced Fiber Materials2022,4,5:1

20Circulating nucleic acids as liquid biopsies for disease prediction,screening and diagnosis显示文摘Liquid biopsy used molecular information in body liquid to perform early diagnosis,screening,monitoring,prognosis,and treatment of various diseases.Circulating free nucleic acids(cfNA)are important diagnostic biomarkers,providing a window to accurately and immediately observe the body's vital activity status.With the development of gene sequencing technology and bioinformatics technology,genetic,epigenetic,and fragtomics alterations that can be detected in cfDNA,as well as the expression level of miRNA and cf-mRNA can be quantified,this can reflect its tissue origin,gene regulation,genome evolution,and disease pathogenesis.This review focuses on the clinical utility of cfNA in different body liquids(blood,urine,bile),and discusses the diagnostic efficacy and accuracy of cfNA as diagnostic biomarkers in a variety of diseases.Blood is widely used to diagnose various tissue lesions for liquid biopsies as a body fluid circulating throughout the body,reflecting the state of the entire body.Bile and urine,as local circulating body fluids,can better reflect the changing state of tissues around the biliary tract and tissues around the bladder,respectively.In addition,normalized sample preservation,cfNA extraction,and detection procedures will help the practical application of cfNA in the clinic.Yuqing Sun Yongling Tang Long Yu Yuhao Wang Shuang Peng Xiang Zhou 2023Science China Chemistry2023,66,11:0
