| 1 | Shear wave velocity structure of the crust and upper mantle underneath the Tianshan orogenic belt显示文摘From April, 2003 to September, 2004, a passive broadband seismic array consisting of 60 stations was deployed over the Tianshan orogenic belt by State Key Laboratory of Earthquake Dynamics, Institute of Geology, China Earthquake Administration. Among them, 51 stations make up an about 500-km-long profile across the Tianshan Mountains from Kuytun to Kuqa. The receiver function profile and S-wave velocity structure of the crust and upper mantle down to 100 km deep are obtained by using the re-ceiver function method (Liu et al. 1996, 2000). The main results can be summarized as follows: (1) A clear mountain root does not exist beneath the Tianshan Mountains, and the crust-mantle boundaries underneath the stations mostly have transitional structures. This implies that the material differentia-tion between the crust and mantle is not yet accomplished and the orogenic process is still going on. (2) The crust beneath the Tianshan Mountains has laterally blocked structures in direction perpendicular to the mountain strike, and the crust-mantle boundary has a clear dislocation structure. Both of them correspond to each other. (3) The offsets of the Moho discontinuity are highly correlated to the tectonic borders on the surface and that corresponding to the frontal southern Tianshan fault reaches to 14 km. This manifests that large vertical divergent movement took place between different blocks. This sup-ports the discontinuous model of the Tianshan orogeny, and the Tarim block subduction is restricted only to the southern side of the South Tianshan. (4) Inside the upper and middle crust of the Tianshan Mountains exist several low-velocity bodies correlated with high seismicity located on the moun-tain-basin jointures on both sides of the mountain and between different blocks, and the low-velocity bodies on the mountain-basin jointures are inclined obviously to the mountain. | 2 | Synchronization and wave propagation in neuronal network under field coupling显示文摘Electric and chemical synapse play important role in connecting neurons and thus signal propagation can be realized between neurons. External electric stimulus can change the excitability of neuron and then the electrical activities can be modulated completely. Continuous fluctuation of ion concentration in cell can induce complex time-varying electromagnetic field during the exchange of charged ions across the membrane of neuron. Polarization and magnetization in the media(and neuron), which exposed to electromagnetic radiation, can modulate the dynamical response and mode transition in electrical activities of neurons. In this paper, magnetic flux is used to describe the effect of electromagnetic field, and the three-variable HindmarshRose neuron model is updated to propose a four-variable neuron model that the effect of electromagnetic induction and radiation can be explained. Based on the physical law of electromagnetic induction, exchange of charged ions and flow of ion currents will change the distribution of electromagnetic filed in cell, and each neuron will be exposed to the superimposed field triggered by other neurons. Therefore, signal exchange could occur even synapse coupling between neurons is removed in the case of field coupling. A chain network is proposed to investigate the signal exchange between neurons under field coupling when synapse coupling is not available. It is found that field coupling between neurons can change the collective behaviors in electrical activities. A statistical factor of synchronization and spatial patterns are calculated, these results confirmed that field coupling is effective for signal communication between neurons. | 4 | Rapid growth of a large-scale(600 mm aperture) KDP crystal and its optical quality显示文摘Potassium dihydrogen phosphate(KDP) single crystals are the only nonlinear crystals currently used for electro-optic switches and frequency converters in inertial confinement fusion research, due to their large dimension and exclusive physical properties. Based on the traditional solution-growth process, large bulk KDP crystals, usually with sizes up to600 × 600 mm2 so as to make a frequency doubler for the facility requirement loading highly flux of power laser, can be grown in standard Holden-type crystallizers, without spontaneous nucleation and visible defects, one to two orders of magnitude faster than by conventional methods. Pure water and KDP raw material with a few ion impurities such as Fe,Cr, and Al(less than 0.1 ppm) were used. The rapid-growth method includes extreme conditions such as temperature range from 60 to 35℃ , overcooling up to 5℃ , growth rates exceeding 10 mm/day, and crystal size up to 600 mm. The optical parameters of KDP crystals were determined.
